but_o to_o be_v till_v and_o dress_v that_o it_o may_v grow_v and_o prosper_v to_o bring_v forth_o more_o fruit_n for_o he_o require_v that_o man_n bestow_v their_o care_n labour_n wisdom_n and_o travail_n upon_o it_o that_o he_o may_v have_v it_o more_o furnish_v and_o fence_v for_o he_o tatake_v pain_n himself_o about_o his_o church_n to_o that_o end_n that_o sin_n may_v be_v suppress_v and_o godliness_n advance_v but_o the_o lord_n make_v we_o true_o thankful_a in_o christ_n jesus_n for_o those_o beginning_n and_o proceed_n of_o his_o church_n which_o we_o have_v that_o he_o have_v plant_v his_o word_n &_o true_a religion_n among_o we_o countenance_v the_o same_o his_o truth_n with_o the_o authority_n and_o sword_n of_o our_o gracious_a princess_n elizabeth_n as_o also_o with_o person_n which_o be_v in_o christ_n receive_v from_o he_o all_o necessary_a ivyce_n and_o supplement_n to_o the_o nourish_a and_o preserve_v of_o a_o spiritual_a life_n in_o they_o though_o sometime_o some_o of_o the_o branch_n hang_v the_o head_n but_o yet_o they_o which_o be_v plant_v of_o the_o heavenly_a father_n shall_v never_o be_v cut_v off_o but_o shall_v have_v life_n eternal_a with_o christ_n jesus_n this_o thing_n also_o be_v set_v forth_o unto_o we_o in_o the_o simile_n of_o a_o body_n even_o of_o the_o head_n and_o the_o member_n therefore_o as_o i_o say_v christ_n be_v call_v when_o he_o be_v in_o christ_n he_o live_v not_o but_o christ_n live_v in_o he_o and_o albeit_o the_o member_n of_o christ_n have_v not_o always_o a_o like_a feel_n of_o life_n in_o themselves_o but_o sometime_o they_o seem_v to_o be_v benumb_v and_o a_o cold_a as_o it_o be_v have_v no_o nimbleness_n or_o agilitye_n in_o themselves_o yea_o as_o it_o be_v a_o sleep_n and_o void_a of_o feeling_n so_o as_o they_o scant_o can_v have_v comfort_n that_o they_o be_v of_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n
faithful_a themselves_o can_v not_o cut_v off_o themselves_o from_o their_o own_o salvation_n nor_o forfeit_v it_o because_o it_o be_v not_o lay_v up_o in_o themselves_o but_o in_o god_n in_o who_o custody_n it_o be_v true_a it_o be_v we_o give_v god_n cause_n in_o ourselves_o to_o frustrate_v all_o his_o grace_n towards_o we_o but_o god_n will_v accomplish_v his_o work_n and_o finish_v it_o in_o his_o servant_n neither_o let_v any_o libertine_n hereof_o conclude_v that_o he_o will_v live_v he_o care_v not_o how_o because_o if_o i_o believe_v i_o be_o sure_a all_o my_o sin_n can_v loose_v damnable_a and_o hellish_a estate_n for_o be_v without_o the_o church_n in_o that_o they_o show_v forth_o no_o fruit_n of_o obedience_n to_o the_o word_n etc._n etc._n they_o can_v not_o look_v for_o salvation_n since_o without_o the_o church_n there_o be_v no_o salvation_n without_o noah_n ark_n be_v no_o life_n all_o perish_v in_o jericho_n that_o be_v not_o in_o rachabs_n house_n so_o in_o the_o church_n only_o be_v salvation_n without_o nothing_o but_o hell_n and_o damnation_n every_o man_n therefore_o must_v labour_v to_o be_v a_o member_n of_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n yield_v obedience_n to_o the_o call_n of_o god_n by_o the_o preach_n of_o his_o word_n that_o they_o may_v be_v flock_v into_o his_o fold_n and_o church_n for_o man_n must_v know_v that_o election_n must_v not_o be_v sever_v from_o a_o effectual_a call_n which_o work_v in_o time_n in_o the_o true_a believer_n it_o be_v a_o blessedness_n in_o deed_n that_o we_o be_v elect_v but_o if_o our_o election_n to_o prefer_v their_o own_o glory_n as_o the_o pope_n which_o will_v have_v the_o church_n at_o his_o commandment_n and_o so_o commit_v whoredom_n against_o christ_n or_o as_o many_o vain_a glorious_a teacher_n which_o preach_v themselves_o &_o not_o christ_n also_o seducer_n sectuary_n etc._n etc._n they_o all_o play_n as_o the_o fall_v heart_a man_n which_o be_v put_v in_o trust_n to_o speak_v to_o a_o maiden_n for_o another_o do_v woo_v and_o make_v suit_n for_o themselves_o to_o turn_v the_o like_n of_o the_o maiden_n to_o their_o own_o person_n thus_o many_o teacher_n play_v the_o ambassage_n for_o there_o be_v some_o which_o think_v christ_n too_o base_a to_o be_v preach_v simple_o in_o himself_o and_o therefore_o mingle_v with_o he_o too_o too_o much_o the_o wisdom_n of_o man_n eloquence_n and_o think_v that_o christ_n come_v naked_o unless_o clothe_v with_o vain_a ostentaion_n of_o word_n other_o esteem_v he_o too_o homely_a simple_a and_o unlearned_a unless_o he_o be_v beautify_v and_o blaze_v over_o with_o store_n of_o greek_a or_o latin_n sentence_n in_o the_o pulpit_n some_o reckon_v of_o he_o as_o solitary_a or_o as_o a_o private_a person_n with_o out_o honour_n and_o pomp_n unless_o he_o be_v bring_v forth_o of_o they_o very_o solemn_o accompany_v and_o countenance_v with_o the_o ancient_a guard_n of_o the_o father_n and_o doctor_n of_o the_o church_n to_o speak_v for_o he_o or_o else_o he_o must_v be_v gloss_a out_n and_o paint_v with_o the_o frooth_o of_o philosophi_fw-la poetry_n or_o such_o like_a and_o so_o regard_v not_o to_o though_o it_o be_v count_v foolish_a preach_v of_o the_o world_n 1._o cor._n 1.21_o yet_o it_o be_v the_o ordinary_a mean_n appoint_v to_o save_v they_o that_o believe_v and_o sure_a i_o can_v otherwise_o think_v of_o many_o which_o study_n to_o preach_v themselves_o and_o to_o have_v their_o gift_n yea_o some_o time_n those_o gift_n which_o they_o have_v not_o to_o be_v know_v rather_o than_o the_o power_n of_o god_n in_o his_o gospel_n then_o of_o babe_n and_o young_a child_n which_o have_v any_o gay_a thing_n about_o they_o that_o they_o themselves_o think_v high_o on_o think_v all_o man_n shall_v delight_v in_o their_o gaye_n therefore_o they_o be_v always_o point_v at_o their_o gay_a brooch_n point_n lace_n etc._n etc._n show_v every_o one_o where_o they_o be_v gay_a so_o yet_o this_o hinder_v not_o but_o that_o they_o be_v join_v still_o to_o their_o head_n since_o it_o be_v as_o impossible_a that_o any_o member_n that_o be_v truelye_o graft_v into_o christ_n shall_v perish_v be_v cut_v or_o want_n life_n as_o it_o be_v impossible_a that_o christ_n himself_o shall_v want_v life_n i_o speak_v this_o in_o the_o respect_n of_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n communicate_v life_n unto_o we_o in_o christ_n also_o for_o the_o comfort_n of_o such_o poor_a soul_n as_o be_v graff_v into_o christ_n by_o faith_n have_v also_o feel_v of_o the_o power_n of_o his_o death_n and_o resurrection_n in_o truth_n in_o that_o they_o be_v reform_v from_o their_o former_a way_n and_o desire_n to_o please_v god_n in_o holiness_n yet_o in_o the_o present_a feel_n of_o their_o misery_n and_o imperfection_n can_v not_o have_v comfort_n but_o lie_v as_o poor_a member_n wound_v and_o pant_a for_o life_n for_o the_o time_n when_o yet_o life_n be_v not_o utter_o out_o of_o they_o as_o for_o the_o bold_a and_o presumptuous_a sinner_n or_o libertine_n as_o he_o never_o taste_v of_o the_o life_n which_o be_v in_o christ_n by_o mortification_n and_o sanctification_n so_o he_o have_v no_o warrant_n yet_o that_o he_o be_v of_o christ_n and_o therefore_o i_o can_v not_o assure_v any_o such_o of_o the_o certainty_n of_o that_o life_n this_o unity_n and_o conjunction_n be_v also_o figure_v unto_o we_o in_o the_o simile_n of_o a_o building_n or_o house_n for_o we_o be_v all_o lyvely_a stone_n of_o a_o spiritual_a building_n couch_v and_o lay_v upon_o christ_n jesus_n the_o foundation_n and_o corner_n stone_n of_o the_o build_n as_o 1._o pet._n 2.4.5_o so_o that_o as_o many_o stone_n couch_v and_o place_v together_o in_o order_n do_v make_v one_o building_n even_o so_o christ_n and_o his_o member_n become_v one_o spiritual_a house_n also_o as_o as_o the_o bread_n and_o wine_n receive_v into_o our_o body_n become_v one_o with_o our_o nature_n and_o substance_n so_o christ_n and_o his_o member_n become_v one_o and_o be_v as_o it_o be_v incorporate_v together_o they_o therefore_o which_o by_o faith_n receive_v christ_n jesus_n in_o the_o sacrament_n apply_v he_o with_o all_o his_o riches_n and_o mercy_n unto_o themselves_o may_v conclude_v with_o the_o spouse_n i_o be_o my_o beloved_n and_o my_o belove_a be_v i_o etc._n etc._n but_o this_o spiritual_a society_n and_o conjunction_n be_v most_o lively_a natural_o and_o comfortable_o portraitured_a out_o unto_o we_o in_o the_o union_n and_o fellowship_n which_o be_v between_o man_n and_o wife_n as_o the_o apostle_n paul_n do_v worthy_o mention_v in_o the_o five_o chapter_n of_o his_o epistle_n to_o the_o ephesian_n verse_n 30._o affirm_v that_o we_o be_v member_n of_o christ_n body_n of_o his_o flesh_n and_o of_o his_o bone_n and_o what_o more_o near_a society_n of_o life_n be_v there_o then_o that_o which_o be_v between_o man_n and_o wife_n who_o of_o two_o be_v make_v one_o flesh_n have_v all_o thing_n common_a be_v a_o like_a entitle_v to_o all_o commoidty_n and_o riches_n the_o one_o have_v a_o right_a unto_o the_o other_o that_o they_o be_v sequester_v from_o all_o other_o to_o have_v and_o retain_v a_o perfect_a and_o continual_a society_n in_o themselves_o the_o society_n of_o parent_n and_o child_n be_v great_a of_o master_n and_o servant_n as_o part_v of_o a_o household_n the_o society_n also_o of_o brethren_n and_o kindred_n but_o this_o exceed_v all_o other_o yea_o it_o be_v prefer_v above_o all_o other_o societye_n as_o most_o comfortable_a near_o secret_a and_o continual_a but_o such_o be_v the_o infinite_a love_n of_o god_n towards_o we_o that_o he_o have_v not_o only_o affiance_v we_o to_o his_o son_n as_o friend_n and_o brethren_n but_o even_o make_v we_o one_o with_o he_o and_o he_o with_o us._n oh_o heavenly_a holy_a comfortable_a and_o most_o sweet_a fellowship_n no_o marvel_n then_o though_o the_o spouse_n here_o so_o cheerefullye_o and_o confidentlye_o affirm_v that_o she_o be_v her_o beloved_n and_o her_o belove_a be_v she_o wherein_o she_o do_v not_o only_a joy_n that_o she_o be_v one_o with_o her_o belove_a but_o also_o advouch_v her_o faith_n to_o he_o warrant_v herself_o of_o all_o his_o rich_a heavenlye_a and_o incomparable_a dowrye_o thus_o all_o the_o believer_n shall_v labour_v to_o assure_v other_o in_o holiness_n knowledge_n and_o godliness_n or_o the_o apostles_n pastor_n preacher_n or_o such_o like_a be_v one_o in_o christ_n and_o so_o happy_a but_o every_o faithful_a man_n and_o woman_n must_v be_v assure_v in_o some_o measure_n by_o the_o spirit_n of_o adoption_n that_o they_o be_v one_o with_o he_o for_o sometime_o satan_n will_v undermine_v the_o poor_a afflict_a soul_n think_v other_o seem_v to_o have_v my_o sin_n be_v great_a than_o they_o also_o i_o have_v such_o vile_a damnable_a and_o hellish_a thought_n come_v upon_o i_o sometime_o as_o i_o think_v it_o be_v impossible_a the_o child_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v trouble_v with_o especial_o when_o i_o will_v rather_o prepare_v myself_o to_o hear_v the_o word_n reverent_o or_o to_o pray_v faithful_o therefore_o i_o can_v not_o persuade_v myself_o that_o i_o be_o one_o with_o christ_n and_o shall_v never_o be_v cut_v off_o from_o he_o many_o such_o like_a thing_n i_o know_v arise_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o godly_a sometime_o and_o many_o such_o reply_n dispute_v in_o their_o thought_n and_o mind_n oftentimes_o whereby_o satan_n will_v fain_o make_v they_o weary_a of_o the_o mean_n of_o their_o salvation_n and_o because_o they_o can_v not_o profit_v by_o they_o as_o they_o will_v and_o when_o they_o will_v therefore_o they_o suspect_v themselves_o call_v their_o own_o estate_n into_o question_n not_o have_v for_o the_o time_n any_o comfort_n in_o this_o holy_a and_o comfortable_a society_n which_o be_v in_o christ_n thus_o poor_a soul_n they_o many_o time_n be_v trouble_v with_o their_o own_o shadow_n even_o then_o when_o they_o strive_v to_o come_v near_o to_o christ_n and_o be_v in_o deed_n near_o to_o he_o some_o time_n when_o they_o think_v themselves_o further_a off_o but_o such_o be_v the_o love_n of_o our_o god_n that_o he_o hide_v it_o from_o we_o that_o we_o may_v after_o be_v the_o sure_a of_o it_o howbeit_o certain_a it_o be_v if_o i_o may_v speak_v from_o experience_n in_o myself_o and_o some_o other_o who_o state_n i_o have_v be_v privy_a unto_o that_o many_o time_n such_o reply_n afore_o mention_v namely_o that_o we_o be_v inferior_n to_o other_o in_o knowledge_n in_o zeal_n in_o prayer_n etc._n etc._n whereby_o we_o faint_a and_o suspect_v ourselves_o and_o such_o like_a motion_n as_o rise_v up_o in_o ourselves_o spring_v partly_o from_o a_o secret_a envy_n sometime_o in_o our_o nature_n which_o be_v not_o see_v to_o ourselves_o partly_o of_o our_o incredulity_n and_o of_o other_o infirmity_n in_o we_o as_o also_o partly_o of_o satan_n malice_n which_o will_v discourage_v the_o godly_a from_o use_v the_o mean_n whereby_o we_o may_v go_v forward_o and_o persevere_v but_o howsoever_o it_o be_v these_o motion_n spring_v of_o our_o nature_n the_o root_n whereof_o be_v incredulity_n and_o want_n of_o faith_n yet_o so_o that_o such_o motion_n as_o hurtful_a as_o they_o be_v yet_o be_v they_o not_o utter_o void_a of_o faith_n for_o a_o certain_a sound_a seed_n of_o faith_n remain_v in_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n even_o in_o these_o tumult_n and_o uproar_n of_o of_o the_o mind_n in_o so_o much_o as_o there_o remain_v a_o certain_a earnest_a linger_a in_o their_o heart_n towards_o christ_n covet_v to_o be_v assure_v of_o the_o truth_n
of_o god_n promise_n in_o themselves_o which_o concern_v everlasting_a life_n yea_o and_o desire_v to_o feel_v that_o comfort_n of_o his_o love_n which_o for_o the_o time_n they_o can_v not_o feel_v which_o i_o dare_v warrant_n to_o that_o soul_n that_o feel_v these_o in_o truth_n that_o they_o be_v sure_a argument_n certain_a and_o infallible_a token_n that_o he_o be_v one_o with_o christ_n for_o as_o that_o member_n which_o be_v a_o sleep_n benoumed_a bruise_a or_o hurt_v do_v not_o cease_v to_o be_v a_o member_n of_o the_o body_n though_o it_o lose_v some_o strength_n for_o the_o time_n but_o be_v after_o recover_v to_o strength_n and_o feel_v again_o so_o every_o hurt_n or_o wound_v which_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n have_v of_o their_o infirmity_n be_v not_o by_o and_o by_o a_o cut_n off_o from_o christ_n for_o this_o continual_a society_n or_o unity_n of_o christ_n with_o his_o church_n be_v not_o for_o a_o time_n but_o for_o ever_o not_o only_o in_o the_o whole_a church_n but_o also_o in_o every_o particular_a member_n thereof_o 8.35.38.39_o rom._n 8.35.38.39_o paul_n triumph_v in_o the_o person_n of_o the_o believer_n that_o nothing_o can_v separate_v they_o from_o the_o love_n of_o god_n which_o be_v in_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n though_o therefore_o many_o odd_a thought_n or_o surmise_n may_v encumber_v we_o for_o a_o time_n so_o long_o as_o we_o be_v i_o for_o so_o long_o as_o we_o hold_v he_o we_o have_v a_o true_a hearty_a and_o long_a desire_n after_o he_o so_o long_o we_o be_v his_o of_o this_o unitye_n come_v necessary_o that_o certainty_n of_o perseveraunce_n and_o of_o salvation_n saint_n 2._o the_o certeinety_n of_o perseverance_n and_o salvation_n of_o the_o saint_n which_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n have_v in_o this_o life_n which_o be_v the_o second_o thing_n that_o i_o note_v unto_o you_o out_o of_o this_o conclusion_n of_o the_o spouse_n for_o look_v of_o what_o condition_n the_o root_n and_o stock_n be_v concern_v the_o unity_n and_o abide_n of_o the_o same_o condition_n and_o nature_n be_v the_o branch_n but_o christ_n the_o true_a root_n and_o vine_n be_v eternal_a therefore_o his_o church_n or_o company_n of_o the_o believer_n which_o be_v the_o branch_n of_o that_o vine_n be_v eternal_a the_o head_n be_v eternal_a therefore_o the_o body_n and_o member_n be_v eternal_a the_o foundation_n of_o that_o spiritual_a house_n never_o decay_v therefore_o neither_o the_o building_n the_o husband_n of_o the_o church_n be_v everlasting_a and_o can_v not_o perish_v therefore_o the_o company_n of_o the_o believer_n which_o be_v his_o wife_n can_v never_o perish_v for_o the_o reason_n of_o the_o consequence_n of_o these_o argument_n stand_v in_o the_o nature_n of_o those_o quality_n that_o be_v in_o god_n and_o not_o in_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o thing_n themselves_o for_o as_o christ_n can_v not_o cease_v to_o be_v eternal_a no_o more_o than_o his_o father_n can_v so_o the_o state_n of_o the_o godly_a can_v not_o cease_v to_o be_v eternal_a unless_o god_n and_o christ_n shall_v cease_v from_o their_o eternity_n for_o whatsoever_o quality_n be_v resident_a in_o the_o nature_n of_o god_n be_v always_o the_o same_o because_o the_o godhead_n be_v not_o mutable_a nor_o contrary_a in_o itself_o but_o always_o like_o itself_o wherefore_o unless_o god_n and_o christ_n shall_v cease_v
