grace_n to_o elevate_v 2._o and_o if_o this_o capacity_n be_v not_o improve_v by_o diligent_a and_o long_o study_v which_o most_o will_v not_o undergo_v it_o be_v no_o wonder_n if_o it_o be_v useless_a or_o much_o worse_o 3._o and_o if_o it_o be_v not_o direct_v by_o a_o sound_n and_o skilful_a teacher_n but_o fall_v into_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o erroneous_a or_o bad_a guide_n you_o may_v conjecture_v what_o the_o fruit_n will_v be_v 4._o and_o if_o that_o good_a part_n and_o study_n be_v not_o keep_v from_o the_o mischievous_a enmity_n of_o a_o worldly_a mind_n and_o fleshly_a lust_n how_o easy_o be_v they_o corrupt_v and_o turn_v against_o their_o use_n and_o end_n to_o the_o great_a hurt_n of_o the_o church_n and_o of_o themselves_o 5._o and_o if_o those_o that_o choose_v prelate_n or_o church-governor_n shall_v be_v either_o of_o corrupt_a judgement_n wicked_a heart_n or_o vicious_a life_n how_o probable_a be_v it_o that_o they_o will_v choose_v such_o as_o themselves_o or_o at_o least_o such_o as_o will_v not_o much_o cross_a their_o lusts._n 6._o and_o if_o such_o worldly_a and_o wicked_a prelate_n be_v the_o ordainer_n examiner_n judge_n and_o institutor_n of_o the_o inferior_a clergy_n or_o be_v their_o ruler_n it_o be_v easy_a to_o know_v what_o sort_n of_o man_n they_o will_v introduce_v and_o countenance_n and_o what_o sort_n they_o will_v silence_v and_o discourage_v 7._o and_o if_o lay-patron_n have_v the_o choice_n of_o parish_n pastor_n and_o most_o or_o many_o of_o they_o shall_v be_v such_o as_o christ_n tell_v we_o the_o rich_a most_o usual_o be_v a_o worldly_a and_o sensual_a sort_n of_o man_n or_o such_o as_o have_v no_o lively_a sense_n of_o heavenly_a thing_n we_o may_v easy_o conjecture_v what_o man_n such_o be_v christ_n phil._n 3.18_o rom._n 16.17_o and_o be_v lover_n of_o the_o world_n they_o will_v be_v real_a enemy_n to_o god_n the_o love_n of_o money_n in_o they_o will_v be_v the_o root_n of_o all_o evil._n as_o achan_n and_o gehezi_n they_o will_v think_v they_o have_v reason_n for_o what_o they_o do_v and_o if_o tempt_v will_v with_o judas_n betray_v their_o master_n 2._o and_o their_o judgement_n of_o god_n forsake_v they_o and_o partly_o by_o the_o harden_v of_o their_o own_o heart_n by_o long_a abuse_n of_o that_o truth_n which_o shall_v have_v sanctify_v they_o for_o when_o his_o servant_n into_o rule_n and_o ministry_n to_o do_v his_o work_n as_o for_o christ_n and_o his_o church_n and_o by_o his_o authority_n and_o in_o his_o name_n our_o natural_a enmity_n with_o the_o serpent_n dissuade_v he_o from_o speak_v or_o send_v to_o we_o in_o his_o own_o name_n shall_v one_o say_v in_o the_o pulpit_n thus_o say_v the_o devil_n hate_v christ_n servant_n silence_n other_o filthy_a lust_n than_o the_o poor_a and_o afflict_a sort_n of_o man_n and_o if_o these_o shall_v prevail_v alas_o you_o be_v undo_v they_o will_v offend_v god_n expel_v his_o grace_n either_o
