to_o increase_v your_o grace_n abundant_o your_o grace_n how_o will_v they_o act_v the_o presence_n of_o god_n will_v draw_v forth_o the_o act_n of_o grace_n as_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o fire_n draw_v forth_o our_o heat_n so_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n will_v draw_v forth_o our_o grace_n and_o by_o this_o mean_v we_o come_v to_o live_v most_o holy_a life_n we_o read_v of_o moses_n he_o be_v upon_o the_o mountain_n forty_o day_n with_o god_n and_o when_o he_o come_v down_o his_o face_n do_v so_o shine_v that_o the_o people_n be_v not_o able_a to_o bear_v it_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n it_o be_v from_o hence_o because_o he_o be_v so_o nigh_o to_o god_n will_v you_o have_v your_o face_n to_o shine_v in_o a_o holy_a conversation_n before_o man_n converse_v much_o with_o god_n be_v often_o with_o god_n be_v nigh_o to_o he_o and_o that_o will_v make_v you_o shine_v as_o light_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o a_o crooked_a and_o perverse_a generation_n we_o find_v it_o so_o with_o some_o that_o converse_v much_o with_o god_n there_o be_v a_o shine_n upon_o their_o very_a countenance_n and_o further_o it_o be_v a_o special_a sign_n of_o our_o adoption_n to_o love_n to_o be_v nigh_o to_o god_n what_o shall_v a_o child_n love_v most_o but_o to_o be_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o his_o father_n will_v you_o know_v whether_o you_o have_v receive_v the_o spirit_n of_o aboption_n yea_o or_o no_o i_o can_v hardly_o give_v you_o any_o one_o sign_n so_o clear_a as_o this_o for_o to_o love_v to_o go_v into_o god_n presence_n as_o david_n say_v i_o be_v glad_a when_o they_o say_v come_v and_o let_v we_o go_v up_o unto_o the_o house_n of_o the_o lord_n you_o shall_v have_v many_o that_o love_n to_o be_v in_o god_n presence_n so_o as_o they_o think_v on_o it_o overnight_o and_o long_o for_o the_o time_n till_o it_o come_v i_o never_o be_o better_a than_o when_o i_o be_o with_o god_n i_o think_v when_o i_o get_v into_o god_n presence_n either_o in_o prayer_n or_o any_o duty_n of_o god_n worship_n i_o find_v my_o heart_n warm_v and_o quicken_v etc._n etc._n they_o be_v ready_a to_o say_v with_o peter_n master_n it_o be_v good_a be_v here_o and_o that_o be_v another_o thing_n it_o be_v that_o which_o will_v put_v we_o in_o mind_n of_o the_o life_n of_o heaven_n it_o be_v the_o only_a thing_n in_o heaven_n to_o be_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n why_o the_o more_o thou_o be_v nigh_o god_n in_o the_o duty_n of_o worship_n the_o more_o thou_o be_v in_o heaven_n and_o do_v not_o thou_o pray_v that_o the_o will_n of_o god_n may_v be_v do_v in_o earth_n as_o in_o heaven_n now_o the_o saint_n and_o angel_n be_v always_o before_o god_n worship_v of_o he_o then_o be_v as_o much_o as_o thou_o can_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n if_o thou_o will_v be_v in_o heaven_n be_v there_o many_o of_o the_o saint_n they_o find_v it_o so_o it_o be_v not_o so_o with_o carnal_a heart_n they_o be_v weary_a present_o when_o they_o be_v in_o prayer_n or_o hear_v the_o word_n it_o be_v not_o so_o to_o they_o yea_o that_o be_v because_o thou_o have_v not_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n as_o in_o mal._n 1._o what_o weariness_n be_v there_o thou_o can_v be_v a_o game_n till_o one_o or_o two_o a_o clock_n at_o night_n and_o though_o thou_o shall_v lose_v thy_o supper_n or_o the_o work_n of_o thy_o family_n it_o be_v not_o tedious_a to_o thou_o to_o be_v exercise_v in_o those_o thing_n that_o please_v the_o flesh_n but_o when_o thou_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n how_o quick_o be_v thou_o tire_v now_o what_o will_v thou_o do_v in_o heaven_n where_o there_o be_v nothing_o else_o do_v to_o all_o eternity_n but_o worship_v of_o god_n and_o than_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v delightful_a to_o god_n that_o thou_o shall_v come_v nigh_o he_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o the_o world_n more_o pleasant_a to_o god_n than_o to_o have_v his_o saint_n come_v into_o his_o presence_n what_o do_v a_o father_n more_o delight_n in_o than_o to_o have_v his_o child_n about_o he_o never_o do_v any_o father_n or_o mother_n love_v to_o have_v their_o child_n by_o they_o so_o as_o god_n love_v to_o have_v his_o child_n come_v nigh_o he_o and_o be_v often_o with_o he_o and_o the_o truth_n be_v one_o great_a reason_n that_o god_n suffer_v you_o to_o fall_v into_o affliction_n so_o much_o be_v that_o you_o may_v come_v run_v to_o he_o how_o do_v the_o child_n come_v run_v to_o the_o father_n or_o mother_n when_o it_o be_v afraid_a why_o the_o lord_n be_v willing_a to_o permit_v man_n to_o do_v you_o wrong_v that_o you_o may_v run_v to_o he_o that_o he_o may_v have_v more_o of_o your_o presence_n thou_o that_o be_v such_o a_o poor_a creature_n yet_o thou_o hear_v this_o day_n that_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o the_o world_n that_o god_n take_v more_o pleasure_n in_o next_o to_o the_o presence_n of_o his_o own_o son_n jesus_n christ_n and_o his_o saint_n and_o angel_n that_o he_o have_v with_o he_o in_o heaven_n than_o to_o have_v his_o saint_n come_v nigh_o he_o to_o have_v they_o to_o be_v always_o under_o his_o wing_n and_o then_o by_o come_v often_o into_o god_n presence_n in_o his_o worship_n there_o will_v grow_v a_o sweet_a and_o bless_a familiarity_n between_o god_n and_o thy_o soul_n for_o thou_o will_v be_v speak_v to_o god_n and_o god_n will_v be_v speak_v to_o thou_o too_o we_o know_v many_o time_n that_o dear_a friend_n who_o be_v very_o near_o link_v together_o yet_o if_o they_o be_v long_o absent_a one_o from_o another_o there_o grow_v a_o strangeness_n and_o so_o by_o degree_n their_o friendship_n be_v deaden_v but_o now_o when_o they_o be_v together_o every_o day_n and_o there_o be_v a_o intercourse_n of_o love_n and_o friendship_n than_o their_o friendship_n be_v keep_v active_a and_o quick_a but_o now_o if_o they_o be_v absent_a long_o indeed_o if_o they_o be_v absent_a in_o another_o country_n when_o they_o can_v come_v together_o that_o they_o be_v sure_a it_o be_v not_o through_o any_o neglect_n than_o it_o will_v not_o damp_n their_o friendship_n but_o when_o they_o be_v near_o and_o come_v not_o one_o to_o another_o than_o they_o think_v it_o be_v out_o of_o neglect_n and_o so_o they_o grow_v strange_a so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o soul_n if_o there_o be_v no_o possibility_n of_o come_v into_o god_n presence_n than_o it_o will_v not_o hinder_v the_o sweetness_n of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n to_o we_o but_o now_o when_o we_o have_v those_o duty_n of_o worship_n wherein_o we_o may_v draw_v nigh_o to_o god_n if_o we_o neglect_v they_o our_o familiarity_n with_o god_n will_v quick_o be_v lose_v acquaint_v thyself_o with_o god_n and_o be_v at_o peace_n god_n be_v willing_a to_o be_v acquaint_v with_o his_o servant_n the_o lord_n love_v to_o be_v familiar_a with_o the_o poor_a of_o his_o saint_n and_o will_v not_o thou_o maintain_v that_o sweet_a familiarity_n with_o god_n these_o two_o benefit_n will_v follow_v upon_o thy_o familiarity_n with_o god_n first_o those_o that_o be_v most_o familiar_a with_o god_n they_o
second_o our_o heart_n must_v be_v sanctify_v because_o the_o lord_n do_v look_v more_o to_o the_o principle_n from_o whence_o a_o thing_n come_v than_o at_o the_o the_o thing_n itself_o as_o indeed_o be_v our_o heart_n right_a as_o they_o shall_v than_o all_o the_o good_a thing_n that_o come_v to_o we_o we_o will_v not_o so_o much_o regard_v what_o the_o thing_n be_v that_o we_o do_v enjoy_v from_o god_n as_o what_o the_o principle_n be_v from_o whence_o they_o come_v that_o be_v whether_o what_o we_o do_v enjoy_v from_o god_n be_v from_o the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n or_o no_o whether_o it_o it_o be_v from_o the_o general_a bounty_n and_o patience_n of_o god_n or_o from_o the_o special_a love_n of_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n our_o heart_n will_v regard_v that_o most_o if_o we_o be_v spiritual_a now_o then_o look_v as_o a_o godly_a man_n be_v not_o satisfy_v with_o enjoy_v any_o good_a thing_n from_o god_n except_o he_o know_v it_o come_v from_o a_o principle_n of_o love_n to_o he_o in_o jesus_n christ_n so_o god_n be_v not_o please_v with_o any_o thing_n that_o come_v from_o we_o except_o he_o know_v that_o it_o come_v from_o a_o principle_n of_o love_n grace_n and_o holiness_n in_o our_o heart_n three_o according_a as_o the_o heart_n be_v so_o will_v the_o service_n be_v certain_o if_o the_o heart_n be_v unclean_a the_o duty_n will_v be_v unclean_a perhaps_o the_o word_n may_v be_v fine_a and_o brave_a but_o if_o there_o be_v a_o unclean_a heart_n the_o duty_n will_v be_v unclean_a as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o man_n that_o have_v the_o plague_n suppose_v he_o make_v a_o brave_a oration_n yet_o his_o breath_n be_v infectious_a so_o it_o be_v in_o our_o service_n with_o god_n if_o so_o be_v that_o our_o heart_n within_o we_o have_v the_o plague_n then_o certain_o the_o breath_n that_o come_v from_o we_o all_o our_o duty_n will_v be_v unclean_a and_o therefore_o that_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n that_o we_o be_v to_o look_v for_o in_o the_o sanctify_a god_n name_v in_o holy_a duty_n look_v to_o have_v thy_o heart_n sanctify_v and_o consider_v from_o what_o principle_n it_o come_v it_o be_v for_o want_n of_o this_o that_o thousand_o of_o our_o duty_n be_v cast_v aside_o and_o god_n never_o do_v regard_v they_o but_o this_o be_v the_o first_o particular_a there_o be_v many_o more_o to_o speak_v of_o sermon_n v._n leviticus_n 10._o 3._o i_o will_v be_v sanctify_v in_o they_o that_o come_v nigh_o i_o we_o proceed_v the_o next_o thing_n therefore_o for_o the_o behaviour_n of_o the_o soul_n in_o the_o sanctify_a god_n name_v in_o worship_n be_v this_o when_o we_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n if_o we_o will_v sanctify_v god_n name_n we_o must_v have_v high_a thought_n of_o god_n we_o must_v look_v upon_o god_n as_o he_o be_v upon_o his_o throne_n in_o majesty_n and_o in_o glory_n as_o in_o isa_n 9_o 1_o 2._o you_o shall_v find_v that_o the_o prophet_n see_v the_o lord_n upon_o his_o throne_n it_o be_v a_o excellent_a thing_n when_o all_o who_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n every_o time_n they_o come_v to_o worship_v he_o have_v their_o eye_n dart_v up_o to_o heaven_n and_o behold_v the_o lord_n god_n sit_v in_o his_o glory_n upon_o his_o throne_n so_o you_o shall_v find_v in_o rev._n 4._o the_o 24._o elder_n that_o worship_v god_n they_o see_v he_o upon_o his_o throne_n in_o his_o glory_n and_o so_o they_o worship_v he_o they_o worship_v god_n to_o purpose_n indeed_o when_o they_o see_v the_o lord_n in_o that_o majesty_n as_o he_o be_v we_o shall_v at_o all_o time_n have_v high_a thought_n of_o god_n take_v heed_n of_o have_v low_a thought_n and_o apprehension_n of_o the_o infinite_a majesty_n of_o god_n at_o any_o time_n but_o especial_o when_o thou_o be_v to_o worship_v the_o great_a god_n then_o look_v upon_o the_o lord_n in_o that_o infinite_a distance_n that_o there_o be_v between_o he_o and_o thyself_o yea_o that_o infinite_a distance_n that_o there_o be_v between_o he_o and_o all_o creature_n in_o the_o world_n look_v upon_o the_o lord_n as_o lift_v up_o in_o glory_n not_o only_o above_o all_o creature_n but_o above_o all_o excellency_n that_o all_o angel_n and_o man_n in_o heaven_n and_o earth_n be_v able_a to_o imagine_v look_v upon_o the_o lord_n as_o have_v all_o excellency_n in_o himself_o join_v in_o one_o and_o that_o immutable_o look_v upon_o he_o as_o the_o fountain_n of_o all_o excellency_n good_a and_o glory_n that_o all_o creature_n in_o the_o world_n have_v and_o look_v upon_o the_o lord_n every_o time_n thou_o come_v to_o worship_v he_o as_o that_o god_n who_o angel_n do_v adore_v and_o before_o who_o the_o devil_n be_v force_v to_o tremble_v behold_v he_o in_o this_o his_o glory_n and_o this_o will_v help_v thou_o to_o sanctify_v his_o name_n when_o thou_o come_v to_o he_o the_o great_a reason_n why_o people_n come_v and_o worship_n god_n in_o a_o slight_a way_n it_o be_v because_o that_o they_o do_v not_o see_v god_n in_o his_o glory_n it_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n for_o god_n to_o give_v unto_o we_o a_o sight_n of_o himself_o a_o sight_n of_o his_o glory_n here_o in_o this_o world_n while_o we_o be_v worship_v of_o he_o this_o will_v keep_v our_o eye_n and_o our_o thought_n from_o wander_a if_o we_o have_v a_o sight_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o have_v high_a thought_n of_o god_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o we_o wander_v so_o as_o we_o do_v but_o mere_o because_o we_o see_v not_o god_n as_o now_o suppose_v you_o be_v in_o your_o house_n and_o look_v after_o every_o feather_n that_o be_v fly_v up_o and_o down_o if_o you_o shall_v hear_v that_o the_o king_n be_v come_v into_o the_o room_n or_o any_o great_a person_n it_o will_v compose_v your_o spirit_n because_o you_o have_v high_a thought_n of_o such_o as_o of_o those_o that_o be_v above_o you_o so_o let_v we_o look_v upon_o god_n as_o in_o his_o excellency_n and_o his_o glory_n and_o have_v high_a thought_n of_o he_o and_o this_o be_v that_o whereby_o we_o be_v to_o sanctify_v god_n name_n when_o we_o come_v before_o he_o in_o holy_a duty_n and_o that_o be_v the_o second_o thing_n first_o a_o sanctify_a heart_n and_o then_o high_a thought_n of_o god_n 3._o a_o three_o thing_n be_v high-end_n raised-end_n in_o the_o worship_v of_o god_n prov._n 15._o 24._o the_o way_n of_o life_n be_v above_o to_o the_o wise_a it_o be_v on_o high_a in_o this_o respect_n when_o he_o worship_v god_n his_o heart_n be_v lift_v up_o on_o high_a there_o be_v a_o holy_a raise_n of_o the_o heart_n which_o be_v well_o please_v to_o god_n our_o heart_n shall_v be_v on_o high_a in_o regard_n of_o the_o high_a end_n that_o we_o aim_v at_o in_o holy_a duty_n lift_v up_o thy_o prayer_n say_v hezekiah_n to_o the_o prophet_n in_o another_o case_n so_o i_o may_v say_v lift_v up_o thy_o soul_n when_o thou_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o high_a end_n that_o thou_o aim_v at_o when_o we_o be_v worship_v god_n we_o shall_v have_v our_o heart_n above_o all_o creature_n and_o above_o ourselves_o let_v not_o our_o heart_n then_o be_v grovel_v upon_o the_o ground_n mingle_v with_o base_a and_o drossy_a thing_n when_o we_o come_v to_o worship_v the_o lord_n indeed_o it_o be_v fit_a that_o we_o shall_v have_v our_o heart_n low_a as_o we_o shall_v show_v hereafter_o in_o regard_n of_o humility_n but_o not_o low_a in_o 3._o a_o three_o thing_n be_v this_o the_o preparation_n of_o the_o heart_n it_o be_v the_o disintangling_a of_o the_o heart_n from_o the_o world_n and_o from_o all_o occasion_n and_o business_n in_o the_o world_n i_o be_o to_o worship_n god_n but_o how_o be_v my_o heart_n ensnare_v and_o entangle_v in_o this_o and_o the_o othere_o business_n now_o when_o i_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n i_o must_v lay_v aside_o all_o for_o there_o be_v the_o preparation_n of_o the_o heart_n the_o separate_n of_o it_o for_o such_o a_o work_n for_o that_o be_v the_o nature_n of_o sanctification_n the_o separate_n of_o a_o thing_n from_o a_o common_a use_n i_o be_o to_o worship_n god_n now_o i_o must_v labour_v to_o separate_v my_o heart_n from_o a_o common_a use_n at_o other_o time_n god_n give_v i_o liberty_n to_o let_v out_o my_o heart_n to_o common_a use_n but_o now_o when_o i_o come_v to_o worship_v he_o i_o must_v separate_v my_o heart_n from_o all_o common_a use_n that_o my_o heart_n may_v be_v whole_o for_o god_n i_o remember_v it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o story_n of_o sicily_n which_o be_v lord_n treasurer_n that_o when_o he_o go_v to_o read_v he_o will_v lay_v his_o gown_n off_o and_o say_v lie_v there_o lord_n sicily_n so_o when_o we_o go_v to_o duty_n we_o shall_v say_v lie_v by_o world_n and_o by_o lay_v aside_o the_o world_n i_o mean_v lay_v aside_o of_o all_o household_n affair_n or_o affair_n in_o trade_n etc._n etc._n i_o must_v be_v as_o one_o that_o have_v nothing_o to_o do_v in_o the_o world_n for_o that_o time_n it_o be_v true_a the_o time_n can_v be_v say_v to_o be_v holy_a for_o this_o as_o the_o time_n of_o the_o sabbath_n day_n be_v holy_a you_o will_v say_v why_o may_v not_o any_o time_n be_v say_v to_o be_v holy_a that_o i_o spend_v in_o holy_a duty_n no_o that_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o make_v time_n holy_a for_o the_o time_n that_o god_n make_v holy_a it_o be_v not_o holy_a because_o of_o the_o duty_n that_o i_o perform_v in_o it_o but_o the_o duty_n that_o i_o perform_v then_o be_v more_o acceptable_a because_o they_o be_v do_v in_o such_o a_o time_n and_o so_o that_o make_v a_o place_n holy_a not_o because_o it_o be_v appoint_v for_o holy_a duty_n and_o use_n but_o because_o it_o be_v so_o appoint_v by_o god_n and_o the_o perform_v a_o duty_n in_o that_o place_n be_v more_o acceptable_a to_o god_n than_o in_o another_o place_n but_o now_o though_o we_o can_v make_v our_o time_n holy_a in_o that_o second_o sense_n yet_o in_o the_o first_o it_o be_v time_n set_v apart_o for_o a_o holy_a use_n and_o in_o that_o regard_n it_o be_v holy_a and_o so_o we_o shall_v look_v upon_o it_o as_o not_o to_o have_v our_o outward_a business_n to_o devour_v that_o time_n that_o be_v holy_a in_o that_o regard_n as_o nehemiah_n when_o tobiah_n and_o sanballat_n send_v to_o he_o to_o come_v and_o confer_v with_o they_o no_o say_v he_o i_o can_v go_v for_o the_o work_n be_v great_a that_o i_o have_v to_o do_v so_o we_o must_v not_o entangle_v ourselves_o to_o meddle_v with_o other_o thing_n when_o we_o be_v to_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n for_o our_o work_n be_v great_a the_o four_o thing_n for_o preparation_n be_v to_z watch_z and_o to_o pray_v we_o shall_v watch_v over_o our_o heart_n lest_o they_o be_v make_v unfit_a for_o duty_n so_o we_o shall_v prepare_v for_o prayer_n all_o day_n long_o in_o this_o sense_n that_o be_v we_o shall_v watch_v over_o our_o heart_n that_o they_o be_v not_o let_v out_o so_o far_o as_o to_o hinder_v we_o in_o prayer_n when_o we_o come_v to_o do_v it_o i_o remember_v that_o tertullian_n say_v that_o the_o christian_n do_v so_o sup_v as_o if_o they_o be_v to_o pray_v so_o when_o thou_o be_v in_o company_n thou_o shall_v watch_v unto_o prayer_n oh_o that_o you_o do_v so_o you_o can_v but_o be_v conscious_a to_o yourselves_o that_o oftentimes_o when_o you_o have_v be_v in_o company_n your_o heart_n have_v be_v put_v out_o of_o tune_n and_o frame_v that_o you_o have_v be_v no_o way_n fit_a for_o prayer_n when_o you_o come_v home_o your_o house_n and_o family_n find_v it_o so_o you_o that_o take_v such_o delight_n in_o company_n and_o sit_v up_o late_o i_o appeal_v to_o your_o conscience_n whether_o you_o can_v come_v home_o and_o find_v yourselves_o fit_a either_o in_o your_o family_n or_o closet_n to_o go_v and_o open_v you_o heart_n to_o god_n this_o be_v one_o note_v by_o the_o way_n whereby_o you_o may_v come_v to_o know_v whether_o you_o have_v be_v immoderate_a in_o company_n at_o any_o time_n god_n give_v not_o man_n liberty_n to_o be_v busy_a in_o any_o outward_a occasion_n so_o as_o to_o unfit_a they_o for_o his_o service_n preparation_n consist_v in_o that_o in_o watch_v over_o your_o heart_n that_o you_o may_v not_o be_v unfit_a for_o any_o holy_a duty_n when_o god_n call_v you_o to_o it_o but_o that_o you_o may_v be_v ready_a even_o to_o every_o good_a work_n the_o five_o note_n be_v this_o preparation_n consist_v in_o the_o readiness_n of_o the_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n '_o present_o to_o act_v upon_o the_o set_n upon_o a_o holy_a duty_n when_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n shall_v find_v the_o faculty_n of_o their_o soul_n and_o the_o grace_n that_o be_v in_o they_o to_o be_v ready_a to_o act_v assoon_o as_o ever_o they_o fall_v upon_o duty_n just_o as_o you_o see_v a_o company_n of_o ringer_n when_o they_o have_v make_v all_o preparation_n for_o the_o raise_n of_o the_o bell_n then_o in_o a_o instant_n when_o thy_o begin_v to_o pull_v all_o the_o bell_n go_v in_o that_o tune_n that_o according_a to_o their_o skill_n they_o set_v they_o in_o and_o so_o it_o shall_v be_v with_o our_o heart_n the_o faculty_n of_o our_o soul_n and_o grace_n though_o now_o we_o be_v not_o upon_o duty_n yet_o we_o shall_v be_v so_o ready_a that_o as_o it_o be_v upon_o a_o pull_n all_o the_o faculty_n of_o our_o soul_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n spirit_n shall_v work_v in_o a_o melodious_a way_n there_o be_v those_o that_o keep_v their_o heart_n so_o prepare_v as_o at_o the_o very_a first_o moment_n that_o they_o set_v about_o the_o duty_n of_o worship_n all_o faculty_n and_o grace_n begin_v to_o act_v and_o stir_v and_o be_v work_v towards_o god_n as_o a_o fire_n when_o all_o the_o matter_n be_v ready_a lay_v present_o it_o come_v to_o be_v kindle_v and_o flame_n out_o and_o thus_o it_o shall_v be_v with_o our_o heart_n so_o that_o now_o you_o see_v wherein_o preparation_n of_o our_o heart_n to_o duty_n consist_v the_o next_o thing_n be_v the_o excellency_n of_o this_o preparation_n and_o that_o may_v be_v in_o way_n of_o application_n to_o you_o to_o make_v you_o to_o be_v in_o love_n with_o preparation_n for_o holy_a duty_n there_o be_v abundance_n of_o good_a in_o it_o as_o first_o by_o this_o mean_n we_o come_v to_o make_v every_o duty_n of_o worship_n easy_a to_o we_o thing_n be_v difficult_a when_o we_o come_v upon_o they_o unprepared_a if_o you_o have_v a_o friend_n come_v to_o dinner_n or_o supper_n to_o you_o and_o shall_v come_v sudden_o and_o you_o have_v nothing_o prepare_v there_o will_v be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o stir_n in_o the_o house_n but_o if_o you_o have_v every_o thing_n prepare_v it_o will_v be_v carry_v on_o in_o a_o easy_a way_n and_o the_o reason_n why_o people_n complain_v so_o much_o of_o difficulty_n in_o duty_n it_o be_v because_o their_o heart_n be_v not_o prepare_v indeed_o we_o have_v natural_o many_o thing_n that_o keep_v we_o off_o from_o god_n but_o when_o the_o heart_n be_v prepare_v for_o a_o holy_a duty_n it_o go_v off_o as_o easy_a to_o god_n even_o into_o the_o infinite_a ocean_n of_o all_o mercy_n and_o goodness_n as_o a_o ship_n go_v off_o to_o be_v launch_v when_o you_o have_v make_v preparation_n for_o it_o so_o the_o heart_n can_v go_v with_o a_o holy_a holdness_n to_o god_n when_o you_o have_v make_v preparation_n for_o holy_a duty_n in_o job_n 11._o the_o place_n which_o i_o quote_v before_o for_o the_o work_n of_o preparation_n do_v but_o consider_v a_o verse_n or_o two_o further_a and_o you_o shall_v find_v what_o abundance_n of_o good_a there_o come_v upon_o the_o keep_n of_o
people_n but_o that_o we_o speak_v too_o in_o show_v how_o we_o draw_v nigh_o to_o god_n in_o holy_a duty_n and_o it_o may_v well_o come_v in_o here_o again_o as_o a_o argument_n why_o we_o shall_v sanctify_v god_n name_n 4._o a_o four_o reason_n be_v this_o because_o there_o be_v no_o way_n for_o we_o to_o be_v fit_v for_o the_o receive_n of_o mercy_n from_o god_n through_o those_o duty_n of_o worship_n but_o by_o our_o sanctify_v of_o god_n name_n when_o thou_o come_v at_o any_o time_n to_o worship_n god_n what_o will_v thou_o have_v there_o it_o some_o communion_n that_o thou_o will_v enjoy_v with_o god_n now_o there_o be_v no_o way_n to_o make_v thou_o a_o fit_a subject_n of_o mercy_n or_o capable_a of_o the_o enjoy_n of_o communion_n with_o god_n but_o by_o such_o a_o behaviour_n of_o soul_n as_o this_o be_v that_o have_v be_v speak_v of_o to_o sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n thou_o will_v be_v loath_a to_o lose_v those_o duty_n of_o worship_n that_o thou_o do_v perform_v therefore_o it_o be_v require_v of_o thou_o to_o sanctify_v his_o name_n lest_o thou_o do_v lose_v all_o for_o it_o be_v this_o that_o make_v thou_o the_o only_a capable_a subject_n of_o what_o good_a be_v to_o be_v have_v there_o 5._o we_o must_v sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o holy_a duty_n because_o otherwise_o we_o shall_v certain_o never_o hold_v out_o in_o duty_n but_o vanish_v and_o come_v to_o nothing_o now_o god_n will_v be_v worship_v so_o by_o his_o creature_n as_o to_o be_v constant_o worship_v he_o will_v have_v those_o that_o do_v worship_n he_o to_o worship_v he_o always_o to_o worship_v he_o for_o ever_o and_o he_o will_v have_v this_o worship_n that_o we_o perform_v to_o he_o but_o to_o be_v the_o begin_n of_o that_o eternal_a worship_n that_o he_o shall_v have_v from_o we_o in_o heaven_n and_o so_o the_o saint_n do_v worship_n god_n now_o the_o worship_n which_o they_o perform_v it_o be_v but_o as_o the_o begin_n of_o that_o worship_n that_o hereafter_o in_o heaven_n they_o shall_v tender_v up_o to_o god_n though_o there_o may_v be_v some_o difference_n in_o it_o as_o there_o our_o prayer_n will_v be_v turn_v into_o praise_n and_o it_o will_v not_o be_v in_o such_o outward_a ordinance_n as_o now_o we_o worship_v god_n in_o there_o will_v be_v no_o preach_v nor_o sacrament_n yet_o notwithstanding_o the_o soul_n worship_n that_o be_v now_o will_v be_v in_o effect_v the_o same_o as_o it_o shall_v be_v in_o heaven_n god_n will_v have_v we_o so_o to_o worship_v he_o as_o to_o continue_v to_o worship_v he_o now_o i_o say_v â—nless_a his_o name_n bâ—_n sanctify_v in_o our_o worship_v of_o he_o we_o will_v certain_o fall_v off_o and_o the_o truth_n be_v this_o be_v the_o very_a ground_n of_o all_o apostasy_n in_o hypocrite_n some_o that_o have_v be_v very_o forward_o in_o the_o worship_v of_o god_n when_o they_o be_v young_a one_o and_o afterward_o they_o have_v fall_v off_o they_o be_v wont_n constant_o in_o their_o family_n and_o in_o secret_a in_o their_o chamber_n to_o be_v worship_v of_o god_n and_o they_o account_v it_o the_o very_a joy_n of_o their_o life_n for_o the_o present_a to_o be_v worship_v of_o god_n but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o with_o they_o now_o as_o it_o be_v yea_o they_o be_v fall_v off_o it_o may_v be_v from_o their_o very_a profession_n of_o religion_n and_o turn_v loose_a and_o now_o to_o be_v in_o vain_a company_n to_o drink_v or_o play_v be_v better_a to_o they_o than_o any_o service_n of_o worship_n of_o god_n they_o prize_v more_o to_o be_v in_o company_n with_o their_o sport_n than_o to_o hear_v a_o sermon_n or_o to_o be_v in_o communion_n with_o the_o people_n of_o god_n in_o prayer_n heretofore_o they_o will_v not_o have_v change_v one_o short_a time_n of_o private_a communion_n with_o god_n for_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o pleasure_n and_o content_a in_o the_o world_n but_o now_o it_o be_v otherwise_o with_o they_o how_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v that_o these_o be_v apostatise_v thus_o from_o god_n sure_o this_o be_v the_o ground_n of_o it_o that_o they_o do_v not_o sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o holy_a duty_n at_o the_o most_o it_o be_v but_o a_o work_n of_o conscience_n that_o put_v they_o upon_o they_o and_o they_o have_v but_o some_o flash_n there_o be_v no_o real_a sanctification_n of_o their_o heart_n whereby_o they_o do_v sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o holy_a duty_n and_o upon_o this_o it_o be_v that_o they_o have_v leave_v off_o this_o i_o dare_v say_v that_o there_o be_v never_o any_o soul_n that_o do_v know_v what_o it_o be_v to_o sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o worship_n that_o ever_o be_v weary_a of_o worship_v god_n it_o may_v be_v some_o of_o you_o may_v say_v we_o have_v hard_o that_o there_o be_v much_o require_v in_o sanctify_a god_n name_v in_o duty_n and_o that_o be_v the_o only_a way_n to_o weary_a the_o soul_n and_o to_o make_v it_o fall_v off_o oh_o no_o as_o we_o say_v the_o last_o day_n there_o be_v not_o any_o one_o thing_n that_o have_v be_v open_v for_o the_o sanctifi_n of_o god_n name_n in_o duty_n that_o any_o gracious_a heart_n can_v tell_v how_o to_o miss_v and_o the_o more_o we_o do_v sanctify_v his_o name_n the_o more_o we_o shall_v be_v in_o love_n with_o worship_n for_o it_o be_v from_o hence_o that_o those_o that_o sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o worship_n will_v hold_v out_o because_o they_o will_v find_v the_o sweetness_n of_o worship_n they_o will_v meet_v with_o god_n in_o holy_a duty_n and_o so_o they_o come_v to_o be_v encourage_v in_o worship_n but_o as_o for_o other_o who_o do_v worship_n god_n in_o a_o formal_a way_n their_o worship_n will_v prove_v to_o be_v tedious_a to_o they_o for_o they_o perform_v the_o duty_n but_o do_v not_o find_v god_n in_o the_o duty_n in_o that_o spiritual_a way_n as_o the_o saint_n do_v if_o they_o think_v they_o meet_v with_o god_n it_o be_v but_o a_o imagination_n rather_o than_o any_o real_a meeting_n with_o he_o they_o do_v not_o find_v the_o influence_n of_o god_n in_o their_o soul_n in_o holy_a duty_n so_o as_o those_o do_v that_o sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o holy_a duty_n here_o than_o you_o see_v the_o reason_n why_o we_o be_v to_o sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o holy_a duty_n now_o then_o for_o the_o application_n of_o all_o this_o 1._o if_o all_o this_o which_o you_o have_v be_v require_v of_o we_o for_o the_o sanctify_a of_o god_n name_n hence_o we_o see_v how_o little_a cause_n we_o have_v to_o rest_v upon_o any_o duty_n of_o worship_n that_o we_o do_v perform_v certain_o the_o duty_n of_o worship_n that_o we_o perform_v be_v no_o such_o thing_n as_o be_v fit_a to_o be_v rest_v upon_o for_o life_n and_o for_o salvation_n and_o yet_o for_o the_o most_o part_n there_o be_v scarce_o any_o thing_n that_o people_n have_v to_o rest_v upon_o or_o to_o tender_v up_o to_o god_n for_o acceptation_n to_o eternal_a life_n but_o only_o their_o prayer_n and_o their_o come_n to_o hear_v and_o receive_v of_o the_o communion_n and_o such_o duty_n that_o they_o perform_v this_o be_v all_o they_o have_v to_o tender_v up_o for_o life_n and_o for_o salvation_n perhaps_o they_o may_v sometime_o speak_v of_o christ_n but_o the_o truth_n be_v that_o which_o their_o heart_n rest_v upon_o for_o acceptation_n to_o eternal_a life_n be_v this_o and_o be_v it_o but_o this_o it_o be_v a_o weak_a prop_n a_o rot_a reed_n that_o thou_o have_v to_o rest_v upon_o let_v the_o duty_n of_o worship_n be_v perform_v never_o so_o well_o suppose_v we_o do_v sanctify_v god_n name_n to_o the_o uttermost_a that_o be_v possible_a for_o any_o creature_n to_o do_v in_o this_o world_n yet_o such_o duty_n be_v not_o to_o be_v rest_v upon_o abraham_n isaac_n and_o jacob_n and_o the_o apostle_n the_o most_o holy_a man_n that_o ever_o do_v preform_v duty_n in_o the_o most_o holy_a manner_n yet_o woe_n to_o they_o if_o they_o have_v nothing_o to_o rest_v upon_o but_o their_o duty_n consider_v therefore_o of_o this_o that_o what_o thou_o must_v rest_v upon_o for_o acceptation_n to_o eternal_a life_n it_o must_v be_v that_o which_o must_v have_v so_o much_o worth_n in_o it_o as_o must_v satisfy_v for_o all_o thy_o sin_n that_o former_o thou_o have_v commit_v yea_o and_o for_o all_o the_o sin_n that_o ever_o thou_o shall_v commit_v now_o i_o appeal_v unto_o any_o one_o conscience_n be_v that_o which_o thou_o perform_v be_v prayer_n or_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n or_o hear_v of_o the_o word_n such_o a_o work_n as_o in_o thy_o conscience_n thou_o can_v think_v it_o have_v so_o much_o worth_n in_o it_o now_o first_o for_o the_o word_n sacrament_n i_o confess_v we_o have_v not_o that_o word_n in_o all_o the_o scripture_n as_o neither_o have_v we_o the_o word_n trinity_n and_o divers_a other_o word_n which_o minister_n make_v use_v of_o to_o set_v forth_o the_o mystery_n of_o religion_n by_o but_o yet_o it_o be_v useful_a to_o consider_v the_o meaning_n why_o minister_n in_o the_o church_n have_v give_v this_o name_n unto_o those_o sing_v and_o seal_v that_o the_o church_n receive_v sacrament_n be_v to_o hallow_v a_o thing_n or_o to_o dedicate_v because_o in_o the_o sacrament_n there_o be_v outward_a thing_n that_o be_v make_v holy_a for_o holy_a and_o spiritual_a end_n second_o we_o ourselves_o do_v as_o it_o where_o hallow_v or_o dedicate_v ourselves_o unto_o god_n in_o the_o use_n of_o these_o ordinance_n that_o one_o reason_n from_o whence_o it_o have_v the_o name_n or_o otherwise_o as_o some_o will_v have_v it_o sacramentum_fw-la because_o it_o be_v to_o be_v receive_v that_o they_o do_v undertake_v and_o the_o oath_n they_o be_v wont_a to_o call_v sacramentum_fw-la a_o sacrament_n now_o in_o regard_n that_o christian_n when_o they_o come_v to_o this_o ordinance_n they_o come_v to_o seal_v a_o covenant_n with_o god_n and_o though_o they_o do_v not_o formal_o and_o explicit_o take_v a_o oath_n yet_o they_o bind_v themselves_o in_o a_o holy_a covenant_n which_o have_v the_o strength_n even_o of_o a_o oath_n in_o it_o for_o a_o solemn_a promise_n to_o the_o high_a god_n have_v the_o strength_n of_o a_o oath_n in_o it_o and_o from_o thence_o they_o be_v call_v by_o these_o name_n srcrament_n but_o that_o for_o the_o word_n that_o you_o may_v understand_v it_o but_o the_o word_n the_o scripture_n use_v to_o set_v out_o this_o sacrament_n by_o that_o that_o now_o i_o be_o speak_v of_o be_v the_o communion_n of_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n so_o you_o have_v it_o in_o 1_o cor._n 10._o 6._o the_o cup_n of_o blessing_n which_o we_o bless_v be_v it_o not_o communion_n of_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n the_o bread_n which_o we_o break_v be_v it_o not_o the_o communion_n of_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n i_o say_v we_o be_v now_o treat_v about_o this_o point_n how_o we_o be_v to_o sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o that_o which_o the_o scripture_n call_v the_o communion_n of_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n and_o now_o for_o the_o open_n of_o that_o first_o we_o must_v know_v that_o this_o be_v a_o part_n of_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n and_o we_o draw_v nigh_o to_o god_n in_o this_o or_o otherwise_o it_o will_v not_o come_v up_o to_o our_o point_n and_o then_o we_o shall_v show_v that_o god_n be_v to_o be_v sanctify_v in_o this_o duty_n of_o worship_n and_o then_o three_o how_o first_o we_o do_v in_o this_o draw_v nigh_o to_o god_n we_o worship_v god_n for_o when_o we_o be_v come_v to_o receive_v these_o holy_a sign_n and_o seal_n we_o come_v to_o present_v ourselves_o before_o god_n and_o we_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o god_n himself_o in_o a_o service_n that_o he_o himself_o require_v of_o we_o in_o a_o holy_a in_o a_o divine_a service_n we_o come_v to_o present_a ourselves_o to_o god_n for_o blessing_n for_o communication_n of_o some_o high_a good_a unto_o we_o than_o pobssy_o those_o creature_n that_o we_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o be_v able_a of_o themselves_o to_o convey_v to_o we_o we_o come_v for_o a_o high_a good_a than_o to_o taste_v a_o piece_n of_o bread_n or_o to_o drink_v a_o draught_n of_o wine_n we_o come_v i_o say_v to_o present_v ourselves_o to_o god_n that_o we_o may_v have_v communion_n with_o he_o and_o that_o we_o may_v have_v the_o blessing_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n convey_v unto_o we_o through_o these_o thing_n now_o certain_o this_o be_v a_o draw_v nigh_o to_o god_n for_o to_o present_v ourselves_o for_o the_o conveyance_n of_o the_o blessing_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n through_o these_o creature_n yea_o that_o we_o may_v have_v communion_n with_o god_n himself_o in_o they_o this_o be_v draw_v nigh_o to_o he_o when_o we_o come_v to_o his_o table_n therefore_o we_o draw_v nigh_o to_o god_n have_v not_o god_n institute_v and_o appoint_v these_o creature_n bread_n and_o wine_n and_o the_o action_n about_o they_o to_o be_v the_o mean_n of_o conveyance_n of_o blessing_n unto_o we_o it_o have_v be_v will-worship_n for_o we_o to_o have_v expect_v any_o further_a presence_n of_o god_n in_o such_o creature_n than_o there_o be_v in_o the_o
same_o body_n with_o he_o but_o now_o when_o i_o come_v in_o a_o ordinary_a way_n and_o i_o know_v such_o to_o be_v wicked_a vile_a and_o profane_a and_o i_o profess_v nothing_o against_o they_o nor_o take_v any_o course_n at_o all_o i_o do_v then_o by_o partake_v with_o they_o profess_v myself_o to_o be_v of_o the_o same_o body_n that_o they_o be_v of_o thou_o do_v as_o it_o be_v open_o declare_v lord_n here_o we_o come_v and_o profess_v that_o we_o be_v all_o of_o the_o body_n of_o jesus_n christ_n now_o when_o thou_o know_v such_o and_o such_o be_v notorious_o wicked_a and_o profane_a and_o do_v nothing_o in_o the_o world_n to_o help_v to_o purge_v they_o out_o do_v not_o thou_o think_v that_o god_n name_n be_v take_v in_o vain_a be_v not_o god_n name_v profane_v here_o therefore_o it_o coâ—ceâ—â—s_v we_o very_o much_o to_o look_v unto_o it_o that_o it_o be_v a_o holy_a communion_n that_o we_o receive_v the_o bread_n and_o wine_n in_o i_o beseech_v you_o therefore_o understand_v to_o any_o wicked_a man_n come_v to_o partake_v of_o this_o holy_a mystery_n of_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n there_o be_v divers_a thing_n further_o about_o this_o and_o the_o special_a thing_n i_o think_v of_o be_v to_o show_v you_o the_o holy_a qualification_n that_o there_o ought_v to_o be_v but_o this_o i_o conceive_v to_o be_v the_o necessary_a and_o i_o shall_v not_o have_v have_v peace_n in_o my_o own_o conscience_n as_o be_v faithful_a to_o you_o in_o what_o i_o be_o speak_v of_o sanctife_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o this_o ordinance_n if_o i_o shall_v not_o have_v mention_v this_o that_o i_o have_v speak_v unto_o you_o and_o there_o be_v a_o error_n on_o both_o side_n that_o i_o desire_v to_o meet_v withal_o either_o those_o that_o come_v hand_n over_o head_n and_o think_v it_o concern_v they_o not_o at_o all_o with_o who_o they_o come_v to_o the_o sacrament_n but_o to_o look_v to_o their_o own_o heart_n and_o there_o be_v a_o error_n on_o the_o other_o side_n that_o if_o they_o do_v what_o they_o can_v to_o keep_v they_o away_o and_o yet_o if_o they_o shall_v be_v suffer_v to_o come_v they_o may_v not_o come_v to_o partake_v of_o those_o thing_n now_o it_o be_v very_o useful_a for_o we_o to_o know_v what_o we_o shall_v do_v in_o this_o case_n sermon_n xii_o leviticus_n 10._o 3._o i_o will_v be_v sanctify_v in_o they_o that_o come_v nigh_o i_o i_o shall_v add_v something_o to_o one_o particular_a that_o i_o have_v the_o last_o day_n concern_v peoples_n withdraw_v from_o such_o a_o congregation_n where_o they_o can_v not_o receive_v all_o the_o ordinance_n of_o jesus_n christ_n as_o now_o if_o i_o be_v in_o a_o church_n where_o i_o can_v have_v but_o a_o piece_n of_o the_o sacrament_n suppose_v they_o deal_v with_o i_o as_o the_o papist_n do_v with_o the_o people_n that_o be_v they_o will_v give_v they_o the_o bread_n and_o not_o the_o wine_n certain_o i_o be_v not_o bind_v to_o stay_v with_o they_o then_o but_o i_o be_v bind_v to_o go_v where_o i_o may_v have_v the_o whole_a sacrament_n so_o if_o a_o church_n will_v give_v i_o some_o one_o ordinance_n and_o not_o another_o i_o confess_v so_o long_o as_o there_o be_v hope_n that_o i_o may_v enjoy_v it_o and_o that_o they_o be_v in_o a_o way_n for_o enjoyment_n i_o think_v there_o shall_v be_v a_o great_a forbearance_n to_o a_o church_n as_o well_o as_o to_o a_o particular_a person_n as_o i_o must_v not_o withdraw_v from_o a_o particular_a man_n where_o there_o be_v hope_n still_o of_o his_o reformation_n that_o there_o may_v come_v good_a of_o my_o forbearance_n so_o towards_o a_o church_n much_o more_o but_o i_o say_v if_o i_o can_v enjoy_v neither_o do_v there_o appear_v any_o hope_n of_o enjoyment_n of_o all_o ordinance_n certain_o it_o be_v but_o a_o cruelty_n to_o force_v man_n to_o stay_v there_o when_o as_o otherwhere_o they_o may_v enjoy_v all_o ordinance_n for_o the_o good_a of_o their_o soul_n and_o this_o can_v be_v schism_n thus_o to_o do_v as_o now_o if_o this_o schism_n suppose_v a_o man_n be_v in_o a_o place_n and_o join_v in_o such_o a_o communion_n for_o his_o outward_a benefit_n he_o may_v remove_v his_o dwell_n from_o one_o place_n to_o another_o if_o he_o can_v have_v better_a trade_n in_o another_o place_n than_o certain_o if_o he_o may_v have_v more_o ordinance_n for_o the_o edification_n of_o his_o soul_n he_o may_v as_o well_o remove_v from_o one_o to_o another_o as_o he_o may_v remove_v if_o his_o trade_n be_v better_a in_o one_o place_n than_o another_o christ_n will_v have_v all_o his_o people_n look_v to_o the_o edification_n of_o their_o soul_n and_o shall_v i_o account_v that_o schism_n when_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n mere_o out_o of_o tenderness_n and_o a_o desire_n to_o enjoy_v jesus_n christ_n in_o all_o his_o ordinance_n for_o the_o benefit_n of_o there_o soul_n they_o find_v such_o want_n to_o there_o soul_n of_o all_o ordinance_n that_o though_o they_o may_v have_v some_o in_o one_o place_n yet_o if_o they_o can_v have_v all_o their_o soul_n do_v not_o so_o thrive_v now_o if_o this_o be_v all_o the_o end_n why_o they_o remove_v that_o they_o may_v have_v more_o edification_n to_o their_o soul_n enjoy_v the_o ordinance_n of_o christ_n more_o full_o god_n forbid_v that_o this_o shall_v ever_o be_v account_v such_o a_o sin_n that_o the_o scripture_n be_v to_o brand_v no_o that_n schism_n when_o there_o be_v a_o violent_a rend_n out_o of_o malice_n for_o the_o want_n of_o love_n for_o as_o a_o postasie_n be_v a_o rend_n from_o the_o head_n so_o schism_n from_o the_o body_n that_o be_v when_o it_o be_v out_o of_o a_o evil_a spirit_n from_o envy_n or_o from_o malice_n from_o want_n of_o love_n or_o from_o any_o base_a sinister_a end_n and_o upon_o no_o just_a ground_n but_o now_o when_o it_o be_v mere_o out_o of_o love_n to_o jesus_n christ_n that_o i_o may_v have_v more_o edification_n to_o my_o soul_n and_o still_o i_o retain_v love_n to_o the_o saint_n that_o be_v there_o as_o they_o be_v in_o communion_n and_o so_o far_o as_o they_o have_v any_o thing_n good_a among_o they_o i_o hold_v communion_n with_o they_o in_o that_o only_o i_o desire_v in_o humility_n and_o in_o meekness_n that_o i_o may_v be_v in_o such_o a_o place_n where_o my_o soul_n may_v be_v most_o edify_v where_o i_o may_v enjoy_v all_o those_o ordinance_n that_o christ_n have_v appoint_v for_o his_o church_n certain_o that_o soul_n that_o can_v give_v this_o account_n to_o jesus_n christ_n for_o go_v from_o one_o place_n to_o another_o will_v be_v free_v by_o jesus_n christ_n from_o such_o a_o sin_n as_o this_o be_v that_o the_o world_n call_v schism_n but_o the_o truth_n be_v this_o word_n be_v in_o man_n mouth_n that_o understand_v not_o what_o it_o mean_v and_o the_o devil_n always_o will_v have_v some_o word_n or_o other_o cast_v upon_o they_o that_o be_v good_a for_o he_o have_v heretofore_o gain_v much_o by_o it_o so_o still_o he_o make_v account_n to_o gain_v much_o by_o word_n and_o term_n and_o therefore_o man_n shall_v take_v heed_n of_o word_n and_o term_n that_o they_o do_v not_o understand_v and_o examine_v serious_o what_o the_o meaning_n be_v and_o what_o be_v hold_v forth_o in_o these_o word_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o that_o point_n that_o it_o must_v be_v in_o a_o holy_a communion_n wherever_o there_o be_v the_o receive_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n it_o must_v be_v receive_v in_o a_o holy_a communion_n now_o we_o be_v to_o proceed_v to_o that_o which_o be_v the_o main_a thing_n and_o that_o be_v what_o be_v the_o holy_a qualification_n or_o disposition_n of_o the_o soul_n together_o with_o the_o act_n fit_a in_o receive_v of_o the_o lord_n supper_n what_o be_v require_v in_o the_o soul_n for_o he_o sanctify_v of_o the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o this_o holy_a sacrament_n there_o be_v many_o thing_n require_v as_o first_o there_o be_v require_v knowledge_n i_o must_v know_v what_o i_o do_v when_o i_o come_v to_o receive_v this_o holy_a sacrament_n knowledge_n apply_v to_o the_o work_n that_o i_o be_o about_o when_o some_o of_o you_o have_v come_v to_o receive_v this_o sacrament_n if_o god_n will_v have_v speak_v from_o heaven_n and_o have_v say_v thus_o to_o you_o what_o be_v you_o do_v now_o what_o

nature_n that_o be_v the_o second_o meditation_n med._n 3._o here_o be_v present_v unto_o we_o what_o this_o mediator_n have_v do_v for_o the_o reconcile_n of_o we_o unto_o god_n that_o his_o body_n be_v break_v he_o have_v subject_v himself_o to_o the_o break_n of_o his_o body_n and_o to_o the_o pour_v forth_o of_o his_o blood_n for_o the_o reconcile_n of_o we_o it_o be_v not_o mere_o as_o before_o that_o god_n say_v i_o will_v pardon_v they_o but_o christ_n undertake_v to_o make_v peace_n between_o his_o father_n and_o we_o it_o cost_v he_o the_o break_n of_o his_o body_n and_o the_o pour_v forth_o of_o his_o blood_n this_o be_v a_o useful_a meditation_n oh_o what_o shall_v we_o be_v willing_a to_o suffer_v for_o jesus_n christ_n in_o our_o body_n even_o to_o resist_v unto_o blood_n see_v christ_n have_v be_v content_a to_o have_v his_o precious_a body_n break_v and_o his_o blood_n shed_v for_o we_o med._n 4._o again_o a_o four_o meditation_n be_v this_o that_o here_o we_o come_v to_o see_v we_o have_v occasion_n of_o meditate_v of_o what_o the_o scripture_n say_v that_o we_o be_v by_o the_o blood_n of_o god_n save_v it_o be_v the_o blood_n of_o god_n they_o crucify_v the_o lord_n of_o glory_n that_o be_v the_o scripture_n phrase_n we_o shall_v consider_v when_o we_o see_v the_o wine_n pour_v out_o and_o so_o put_v in_o mind_n of_o blood_n who_o blood_n and_o who_o body_n be_v this_o it_o be_v no_o other_o but_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o he_o that_o be_v true_o god_n the_o second_o person_n in_o trinity_n this_o be_v the_o great_a mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o this_o be_v very_o needful_a for_o we_o to_o be_v think_v of_o when_o we_o see_v the_o body_n break_v and_o the_o blood_n pour_v out_o what_o will_v the_o break_n of_o the_o body_n and_o shed_v of_o the_o blood_n of_o a_o mere_a creature_n be_v sufficient_a to_o make_v peace_n between_o god_n and_o man_n sure_o no_o therefore_o you_o must_v meditate_v who_o body_n this_o be_v and_o who_o blood_n this_o be_v it_o be_v the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o he_o that_o be_v god_n it_o be_v true_a god_n have_v no_o body_n nor_o no_o blood_n but_o the_o same_o person_n that_o be_v god_n have_v a_o body_n and_o blood_n that_o body_n and_o blood_n be_v unite_v unto_o the_o divine_a nature_n in_o a_o hypostatical_a union_n and_o from_o thence_o it_o come_v to_o have_v a_o efficacy_n for_o to_o satisfy_v god_n for_o to_o reconcile_v god_n and_o we_o together_o this_o be_v the_o great_a mystery_n of_o godliness_n med._n 5._o another_o meditation_n be_v this_o when_o you_o see_v the_o bread_n break_v and_o wing_n pour_v out_o oh_o the_o infinite_a dreadfulness_n of_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n how_o dreadful_a be_v the_o justice_n of_o god_n that_o come_v upon_o his_o own_o son_n and_o require_v satisfaction_n from_o he_o that_o shall_v thus_o break_v he_o and_o bruise_v he_o that_o shall_v have_v his_o blood_n that_o shall_v require_v such_o suffering_n even_o from_o his_o son_n dreadful_a be_v god_n justice_n the_o justice_n of_o god_n it_o be_v to_o be_v fear_v and_o to_o be_v tremble_v at_o here_o we_o see_v what_o be_v require_v for_o the_o sin_n of_o man_n and_o nothing_o will_v be_v bate_v to_o jesus_n christ_n himself_o med._n 6._o another_o meditation_n be_v this_o here_o i_o see_v present_v to_o i_o what_o every_o soul_n that_o shall_v be_v that_o have_v make_v such_o a_o breach_n between_o god_n and_o my_o soul_n that_o only_o such_o a_o way_n and_o such_o a_o mean_n must_v take_v away_o my_o sin_n i_o must_v either_o have_v lie_v under_o the_o burden_n of_o my_o sin_n eternal_o or_o jesus_n christ_n that_n god_n and_o man_n must_v suffer_v so_o much_o for_o it_o oh_o what_o meditation_n be_v these_o to_o take_v up_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n med._n 8._o behold_v the_o infinite_a love_n of_o god_n to_o mankind_n and_o the_o love_n of_o jesus_n christ_n that_o rather_o than_o god_n will_v see_v the_o child_n of_o man_n to_o perish_v eternal_o he_o will_v send_v his_o son_n to_o take_v our_o nature_n upon_o he_o and_o thus_o to_o suffer_v such_o dreadful_a thing_n herein_o god_n show_v his_o love_n it_o be_v not_o the_o love_n of_o god_n so_o much_o in_o give_v you_o a_o good_a voyage_n and_o prosper_v you_o outward_o in_o the_o world_n but_o so_o god_n love_v the_o world_n that_o he_o give_v his_o only_a beget_v son_n and_o it_o please_v the_o father_n to_o break_v his_o son_n and_o to_o power_n out_o his_o blood_n here_o be_v the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o of_o jesus_n christ_n oh_o what_o a_o powerful_a mighty_a drawing_z efficacious_a meditation_n shall_v this_o be_v unto_o we_o med._n 9_o those_o that_o be_v believer_n they_o shall_v be_v nourish_v to_o eternal_a life_n so_o that_o there_o be_v no_o fear_n that_o ever_o a_o believer_n shall_v quite_o fall_v off_o from_o god_n and_o die_v in_o his_o sin_n why_o because_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n be_v give_v to_o he_o for_o his_o spiritual_a nourishment_n though_o a_o believer_n be_v never_o so_o weak_a yet_o see_v god_n have_v appoint_v the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o his_o son_n for_o he_o to_o feed_v upon_o and_o to_o drink_v in_o a_o spiritual_a way_n sure_o then_o the_o weak_a in_o the_o world_n will_v be_v strengthen_v to_o go_v through_o all_o the_o hazard_n and_o danger_n that_o there_o be_v in_o the_o world_n it_o be_v this_o that_o strengthen_v believer_n to_o encounter_v with_o all_o kind_n of_o danger_n it_o be_v this_o that_o preserve_v the_o weak_a grace_n in_o a_o believer_n namely_o the_o spiritual_a nourishment_n that_o god_n the_o father_n have_v appoint_v to_o they_o even_o the_o feed_n upon_o the_o body_n and_o drink_v the_o very_a blood_n of_o his_o son_n this_o be_v meat_n
