superfluity_n 2._o shall_v any_o nation_n or_o great_a number_n of_o people_n through_o the_o divine_a sight_n and_o true_a wisdom_n scruple_n violence_n oppression_n kill_v and_o eat_v the_o flesh_n of_o their_o fellow-creature_n of_o a_o inferior_a rank_n the_o same_o wisdom_n will_v teach_v they_o what_o to_o do_v with_o and_o how_o to_o order_v the_o beast_n 3._o there_o be_v abundance_n of_o several_a sort_n of_o these_o creature_n in_o the_o world_n that_o man_n do_v not_o kill_v and_o eat_v and_o yet_o there_o be_v no_o more_o of_o they_o than_o be_v useful_a or_o not_o so_o many_o as_o to_o occasion_v any_o such_o prejudice_n to_o mankind_n as_o this_o objection_n suppose_v but_o find_v room_n enough_o in_o their_o proper_a element_n and_o the_o almighty_a providence_n liberal_o sustain_v they_o to_o instance_n in_o one_o most_o common_a and_o useful_a species_n viz._n horse_n they_o be_v not_o any_o where_o that_o i_o know_v of_o usual_o kill_v to_o be_v eat_v and_o yet_o i_o never_o hear_v of_o any_o country_n in_o the_o world_n that_o complain_v of_o be_v overstocked_a with_o they_o it_o may_v perhaps_o be_v allege_v that_o the_o hard_a usage_n and_o tyranny_n which_o man_n inflict_v upon_o they_o do_v destroy_v great_a number_n of_o they_o i_o confess_v this_o be_v too_o true_a but_o yet_o if_o there_o be_v no_o such_o exorbitance_n commit_v there_o will_v not_o be_v too_o many_o nor_o will_v their_o troop_n be_v burdensome_a unto_o mankind_n for_o be_v there_o not_o various_a sort_n of_o bird_n many_o of_o they_o not_o fit_a to_o be_v eat_v and_o other_o that_o for_o the_o most_o part_n escape_v the_o stratagem_n and_o snare_n of_o the_o fowler_n and_o yet_o we_o do_v not_o find_v too_o many_o of_o they_o nor_o indeed_o shall_v you_o but_o very_o seldom_o find_v any_o of_o they_o dead_a though_o they_o can_v hide_v their_o dead_a since_o their_o feather_n will_v betray_v they_o the_o raven_n as_o unfit_a for_o food_n because_o of_o its_o rapacious_a prey_v on_o dead_a carcase_n and_o the_o pretty_a robin-red-breast_n for_o its_o innocency_n be_v very_o seldom_o kill_v and_o yet_o they_o do_v not_o become_v offensive_a to_o men._n 4._o how_o many_o sort_n of_o beast_n and_o bird_n both_o wild_a and_o tame_a be_v there_o in_o other_o country_n that_o be_v rare_o kill_v by_o man_n and_o yet_o there_o be_v a_o natural_a consumption_n of_o they_o nay_o there_o be_v divers_a kind_n who_o to_o kill_v or_o injure_v be_v to_o this_o day_n account_v ominous_a or_o foreboding_a mischief_n to_o those_o that_o meddle_v with_o they_o for_o which_o cause_n most_o people_n forbear_v to_o offer_v violence_n to_o they_o unless_o by_o accident_n and_o yet_o there_o be_v no_o more_o extant_a in_o the_o world_n than_o of_o other_o who_o man_n make_v it_o their_o business_n and_o interest_n and_o diversion_n to_o destroy_v 5._o if_o people_n have_v not_o occasion_n for_o so_o many_o sheep_n for_o their_o wool_n or_o cow_n for_o their_o milk_n etc._n etc._n they_o may_v as_o easy_o lessen_v the_o number_n of_o they_o as_o increase_v they_o which_o every_o husbandman_n may_v be_v sensible_a of_o by_o keep_v the_o male_n from_o the_o female_n and_o not_o suffer_v they_o to_o generate_v too_o young_a whereby_o such_o beast_n will_v he_o large_a strong_a and_o more_o healthy_a whereas_o now_o so_o many_o cattle_n be_v industrious_o breed_v up_o in_o many_o place_n that_o when_o a_o scarcity_n happen_v of_o grass_n hay_o or_o corn_n multitude_n of_o they_o perish_v for_o cattle_n be_v now_o become_v a_o grand_a commodity_n and_o as_o it_o be_v a_o manufacture_n husbandman_n for_o the_o most_o part_n live_v at_o rack_a rent_n be_v force_v to_o raise_v as_o many_o of_o they_o as_o possible_o they_o can_v and_o to_o keep_v they_o on_o improper_a and_o unhealthy_a pasturage_n and_o to_o over-labour_v both_o themselves_o and_o their_o beast_n mere_o to_o raise_v rent_n for_o their_o idle_a extravagant_a landlord_n who_o only_o aim_v to_o satisfy_v their_o pride_n and_o superfluity_n 6._o it_o be_v certain_a that_o god_n and_o nature_n who_o do_v nothing_o in_o vain_a never_o create_v or_o make_v more_o creature_n in_o any_o of_o the_o four_o world_n or_o element_n whether_o visible_a or_o invisible_a than_o the_o same_o will_v nourish_v and_o maintain_v as_o in_o the_o element_n of_o water_n if_o there_o be_v never_o any_o kill_v by_o man_n their_o mother-element_n that_o bring_v they_o forth_o will_v be_v sufficient_a to_o nurse_v they_o up_o and_o maintain_v they_o the_o like_a be_v to_o be_v say_v of_o the_o fowl_n of_o the_o air_n and_o beast_n of_o the_o earth_n for_o do_v we_o not_o see_v even_o in_o desert_n and_o wilderness_n all_o nature_n production_n be_v liberal_o provide_v for_o and_o few_o there_o of_o every_o species_n than_o in_o those_o we_o call_v civilise_v region_n so_o gross_a a_o error_n it_o be_v to_o imagine_v that_o if_o man_n shall_v not_o kill_v they_o the_o earth_n will_v be_v overrun_v and_o that_o there_o will_v be_v so_o many_o of_o they_o as_o will_v not_o be_v sustain_v but_o that_o they_o will_v be_v injurious_a to_o mankind_n for_o in_o truth_n nothing_o will_v or_o can_v hurt_v or_o injure_v man_n if_o he_o live_v in_o innocency_n and_o do_v not_o first_o outrage_n they_o for_o as_o innocency_n hurt_v nothing_o so_o nothing_o can_v hurt_v it_o 23._o now_o it_o be_v far_a to_o be_v consider_v that_o if_o any_o nation_n or_o people_n shall_v leave_v off_o or_o scruple_n kill_v man_n and_o the_o inferior_a creature_n and_o eat_v their_o flesh_n and_o blood_n from_o a_o true_a understanding_n of_o god_n law_n in_o nature_n and_o in_o obedience_n to_o the_o friendly_a and_o innocent_a principle_n of_o god_n love_n and_o teach_v of_o the_o lord_n all_o outward_a inquiry_n will_v have_v a_o end_n then_o will_v not_o man_n build_v outward_a
temple_n in_o which_o they_o say_v they_o will_v worship_v god_n but_o in_o truth_n they_o make_v the_o seat_n of_o war_n dissension_n and_o controversy_n but_o instead_o thereof_o man_n body_n will_v become_v live_v temple_n in_o which_o his_o holy_a spirit_n will_v have_v the_o dominion_n then_o the_o dolorous_a frightful_a noise_n of_o gun_n drum_n sword_n and_o the_o tumult_n of_o arm_a man_n will_v not_o be_v hear_v in_o the_o street_n no_o plot_v and_o contrive_v the_o destruction_n of_o each_o other_o will_v be_v neither_o will_v the_o prince_n need_v to_o fear_v his_o own_o warder_n nor_o no_o wound_v one_o another_o by_o backbiting_a and_o slanderous_a speech_n neither_o will_v the_o superior_a world_n and_o element_n be_v fill_v with_o the_o mournful_a tone_n and_o doleful_a cry_n of_o the_o inferior_a inhabitant_n nor_o with_o the_o wrathful_a fierce_a species_n of_o manslaughter_n which_o do_v render_v every_o man_n unsafe_a even_o from_o the_o prince_n to_o the_o peasant_n neither_o will_v there_o be_v any_o vain_a play_n game_n nor_o wanton_a superfluous_a treat_v to_o waste_v precious_a time_n and_o destroy_v god_n good_a creature_n then_o man_n will_v not_o say_v what_o shall_v be_v do_v and_o do_v it_o not_o then_o the_o inward_a savage_a violent_a beast_n of_o prey_n will_v be_v root_v out_o of_o man_n heart_n and_o the_o violent_a wrathful_a spirit_n must_v lose_v its_o dominion_n and_o lay_v down_o its_o wrathful_a arm_n and_o weapon_n of_o war_n and_o become_v subject_a to_o the_o divine_a principle_n of_o god_n eternal_a love_n neither_o will_v domineer_a envious_a spirit_n who_o by_o force_n do_v endeavour_v to_o subject_v all_o unto_o itself_o such_o a_o peace_n can_v long_o continue_v unviolated_a because_o it_o proceed_v from_o the_o poisonous_a serpentine_a root_n and_o it_o have_v its_o motion_n and_o operation_n where_o the_o form_n of_o nature_n be_v divide_v and_o at_o enmity_n with_o each_o other_o also_o here_o each_o property_n do_v with_o high_a diligence_n endeavour_v to_o get_v the_o dominion_n which_o sometime_o one_o do_v and_o then_o by_o and_o by_o another_o so_o that_o there_o be_v a_o continual_a strife_n and_o enmity_n for_o superiority_n or_o government_n which_o be_v the_o foundation_n of_o all_o controversy_n violence_n oppression_n fight_v and_o kill_v and_o why_o man_n forget_v god_n and_o despise_v the_o dictate_v of_o the_o innocent_a principle_n of_o his_o love_n which_o continue_v violence_n and_o oppression_n do_v more_o and_o more_o kindle_v and_o keep_v the_o fierce_a wrath_n in_o motion_n and_o by_o a_o sympathetical_a inclination_n draw_v on_o man_n many_o sore_a evil_n for_o every_o principle_n or_o quality_n become_v either_o strong_a and_o powerful_a or_o weak_a and_o impotent_a according_a as_o man_n shall_v join_v himself_o or_o live_v in_o the_o power_n and_o operation_n of_o whether_o it_o be_v in_o the_o evil_a or_o good_a therefore_o it_o have_v always_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o those_o that_o have_v give_v themselves_o up_o and_o immerse_v their_o will_n and_o desire_v into_o the_o principle_n of_o wrath_n have_v become_v strong_a and_o powerful_a therein_o commit_v intemperances_n and_o outrage_a god_n law_n with_o greediness_n but_o on_o the_o contrary_a those_o that_o have_v separate_v themselves_o from_o violence_n intemperance_n and_o uncleanness_n and_o follow_v the_o counsel_n of_o the_o voice_n of_o wisdom_n they_o have_v become_v strong_a and_o powerful_a in_o the_o same_o principle_n whence_o have_v flow_v all_o kind_n of_o virtue_n what_o can_v hurt_v man_n either_o external_o or_o internal_o or_o destroy_v his_o peace_n and_o wellbeing_a if_o he_o live_v in_o innocency_n the_o creator_n have_v not_o make_v any_o visible_a prince_n great_a or_o ordain_v any_o to_o reign_v over_o he_o but_o only_o the_o friendly_a light_n and_o love_n which_o he_o have_v dispossess_v himself_o of_o by_o step_v out_o of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n in_o nature_n and_o so_o have_v lose_v his_o dominion_n both_o external_a and_o internal_a and_o thereby_o have_v subject_v himself_o under_o the_o dominion_n of_o the_o poisonous_a fierce_a wrath_n where_o enmity_n strife_n and_o violence_n take_v their_o birth_n but_o this_o be_v the_o happiness_n still_o of_o mankind_n that_o the_o god_n of_o eternal_a peace_n have_v in_o his_o mercy_n give_v a_o portion_n of_o his_o friendly_a light_n and_o love_n to_o every_o one_o to_o profit_v withal_o and_o also_o man_n will_n be_v free_a if_o he_o do_v not_o suffer_v it_o to_o and_o man_n and_o also_o between_o all_o other_o creature_n and_o render_v man_n the_o most_o unhappy_a of_o all_o other_o his_o wrathful_a mouth_n be_v so_o wide_a and_o his_o paunch_n so_o large_a that_o the_o spoil_n and_o destruction_n of_o all_o the_o numerous_a inhabitant_n of_o the_o element_n will_v not_o content_v he_o he_o contend_v with_o all_o thing_n and_o therefore_o all_o contend_v and_o many_o excellent_a virtue_n beyond_o expression_n which_o be_v well_o prepare_v and_o moderate_o eat_v do_v not_o only_o maintain_v health_n and_o strength_n but_o they_o do_v beget_v their_o own_o species_n and_o innocent_a property_n both_o in_o the_o body_n and_o mind_n as_o i_o have_v before_o demonstrate_v and_o whosoever_o shall_v make_v trial_n and_o initiate_v now_o this_o whilst_o they_o live_v in_o intemperate_a egypt_n neither_o be_v their_o child_n afflict_v with_o such_o a_o great_a number_n of_o disease_n but_o be_v as_o free_v from_o distemper_n as_o lamb_n become_v unequal_a in_o their_o operation_n every_o particular_a quality_n do_v endeavour_v to_o get_v the_o upper_a hand_n here_o the_o harmony_n be_v break_v and_o discord_n take_v place_n here_o be_v the_o strife_n then_o the_o lord_n shorten_v man_n life_n but_o not_o before_o he_o become_v intemperate_a and_o do_v violence_n not_o only_o unto_o himself_o but_o to_o all_o other_o creature_n therefore_o they_o do_v groan_v to_o be_v deliver_v into_o that_o first_o state_n and_o glorious_a liberty_n man_n be_v create_v in_o which_o if_o he_o have_v continue_v in_o obedience_n and_o live_v under_o the_o government_n of_o the_o innocent_a principle_n of_o god_n light_n and_o love_n all_o the_o inferior_a creature_n will_v have_v enjoy_v all_o the_o privilege_n and_o liberty_n which_o
