so_o considerable_a that_o i_o know_v not_o how_o to_o omit_v it_o but_o to_o return_v charity_n be_v here_o to_o be_v actual_o exercise_v towards_o all_o christ_n member_n especial_o towards_o those_o with_o who_o we_o communicate_v we_o be_v to_o knit_v our_o heart_n most_o close_o and_o intimate_o to_o they_o with_o the_o band_n of_o holy_a love_n poor_a and_o rich_a without_o exception_n only_o love_v those_o most_o that_o love_n god_n most_o we_o be_v to_o pray_v for_o they_o all_o and_o not_o only_o in_o the_o offertory_n but_o on_o other_o occasion_n to_o do_v they_o all_o the_o good_a we_o can_v by_o faithful_a counsel_n by_o tender_a and_o prudent_a reproof_n and_o by_o all_o lawful_a and_o possible_a mean_n promote_a the_o welfare_n of_o their_o soul_n and_o body_n and_o last_o by_o devout_a prayer_n to_o god_n for_o they_o as_o we_o be_v direct_v that_o all_o who_o be_v partaker_n of_o this_o holy_a communion_n may_v be_v fill_v with_o his_o grace_n and_o heavenly_a benediction_n but_o though_o our_o charity_n be_v to_o begin_v there_o we_o be_v not_o to_o confine_v the_o exercise_n thereof_o to_o those_o only_o who_o then_o actual_o communicate_v with_o we_o to_o reflect_v on_o those_o holy_a vow_n and_o resolve_v which_o we_o have_v make_v at_o god_n altar_n whether_o against_o passion_n impurity_n intemperance_n immoderate_a love_n to_o the_o world_n neglect_v of_o sacrament_n or_o of_o public_a private_a or_o family_n devotion_n or_o of_o the_o soul_n of_o those_o who_o god_n providence_n have_v commit_v to_o our_o charge_n or_o any_o other_o failure_n whereof_o we_o find_v our_o self_n guilty_a in_o our_o former_a preparation_n and_o examination_n and_o which_o we_o have_v anew_o vow_v against_o at_o the_o communion_n all_o which_o vow_n if_o we_o do_v now_o again_o solemn_o renew_v and_o implore_v and_o expect_v the_o continuance_n of_o divine_a strength_n to_o perform_v they_o and_o consider_v the_o mean_n to_o obtain_v and_o preserve_v it_o we_o shall_v doubtless_o find_v great_a advantage_n by_o it_o especial_o if_o we_o renew_v the_o same_o in_o our_o daily_a examination_n which_o must_v needs_o preserve_v both_o the_o sense_n of_o god_n goodness_n and_o of_o our_o own_o obligation_n more_o fresh_a and_o lively_a on_o our_o mind_n and_o have_v a_o good_a influence_n on_o our_o practice_n though_o at_o great_a distance_n from_o the_o communion_n §_o v._o and_o indeed_o this_o be_v the_o main_a hinge_n of_o the_o whole_a matter_n the_o great_a mean_n whereby_o we_o must_v gain_v advantage_n by_o the_o sacrament_n and_o which_o if_o we_o neglect_v we_o must_v at_o least_o expect_v the_o loss_n of_o our_o comfort_n if_o not_o our_o soul_n it_o be_v to_o remember_v all_o be_v not_o over_o as_o soon_o as_o we_o have_v receive_v no_o nor_o that_o day_n nor_o week_n nor_o indeed_o while_o we_o live_v for_o the_o obligation_n be_v for_o ever_o we_o do_v in_o the_o sacrament_n show_v forth_o the_o we_o be_v not_o to_o think_v the_o oath_n it_o self_n be_v all_o since_o it_o be_v but_o a_o security_n to_o our_o future_a faith_n and_o true_a allegiance_n it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o vow_v nay_o it_o be_v better_a not_o to_o vow_v at_o all_o than_o to_o vow_n and_o not_o to_o pay_v though_o to_o do_v both_o be_v still_o better_o than_o either_o we_o can_v too_o often_o remember_v that_o those_o grace_n which_o we_o exercise_v at_o this_o ordinance_n must_v also_o be_v put_v in_o practice_n through_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o our_o life_n and_o it_o be_v the_o reason_n of_o its_o institution_n that_o they_o may_v by_o degree_n be_v reduce_v into_o holy_a habit_n we_o must_v be_v inward_o better_v by_o the_o sacrament_n as_o well_o as_o by_o other_o duty_n or_o else_o indeed_o we_o be_v not_o better_o at_o all_o for_o as_o one_o well_o observe_v religion_n be_v not_o a_o road_n of_o performance_n but_o a_o new_a nature_n evidence_v by_o a_o new_a life_n §_o vi_o but_o more_o especial_o be_v we_o to_o call_v to_o mind_v these_o promise_n and_o obligation_n when_o we_o find_v ourselves_o again_o attack_v by_o any_o temptation_n either_o to_o those_o sin_n which_o we_o have_v former_o commit_v or_o to_o any_o other_o wo_n to_o he_o who_o after_o he_o have_v escape_v the_o pollution_n of_o the_o world_n and_o taste_v the_o good_a word_n of_o god_n and_o the_o power_n of_o the_o world_n to_o come_v in_o this_o ordinance_n shall_v yet_o fall_v away_o again_o return_v like_o a_o dog_n to_o his_o vomit_n shameful_o yield_v to_o the_o same_o sin_n which_o he_o have_v before_o so_o solemn_o renounce_v and_o pretend_v to_o forsake_v and_o thereby_o in_o a_o great_a measure_n trample_v under_o foot_n the_o blood_n of_o the_o covenant_n crucify_v the_o son_n of_o god_n afresh_o and_o put_v he_o to_o open_a shame_n i_o speak_v not_o of_o lesser_a unavoidable_a infirmity_n such_o as_o wander_a thought_n the_o first_o motion_n of_o passion_n or_o be_v ready_a to_o give_v way_n to_o the_o violence_n of_o temptation_n though_o recover_v again_o but_o what_o i_o here_o intend_v be_v the_o relapse_v into_o any_o grosser_n sin_n such_o as_o uncleanness_n injustice_n drunkenness_n habitual_a carelessness_n of_o duty_n and_o neglect_v of_o god_n word_n and_o sacrament_n and_o our_o private_a state_v devotion_n which_o last_o may_v just_o be_v rank_v among_o great_a sin_n as_o be_v too_o frequent_o the_o begin_n of_o all_o the_o rest_n not_o that_o even_o these_o be_v unpardonable_a on_o true_a repentance_n but_o that_o the_o aggravation_n of_o they_o be_v so_o exceed_o heighten_v by_o the_o addition_n of_o ingratitude_n and_o perjury_n a_o old_a wound_n may_v possible_o be_v cure_v at_o last_o even_o when_o it_o be_v bad_o heal_v but_o then_o there_o be_v a_o necessity_n of_o its_o be_v lay_v open_a again_o and_o the_o pain_n will_v be_v more_o exquisite_a than_o it_o be_v at_o the_o first_o we_o ought_v therefore_o when_o attack_v by_o any_o old_a temptation_n to_o oppose_v immediate_o this_o powerful_a armour_n against_o it_o and_o whatever_o pleasure_n or_o profit_n it_o be_v bait_v with_o by_o the_o great_a deceiver_n with_o indignation_n to_o reject_v it_o to_o reflect_v vigorous_o on_o our_o new_a obligation_n to_o the_o contrary_a both_o of_o promise_n of_o interest_n and_o of_o
