dangerous_a disease_n that_o when_o man_n come_v to_o examine_v and_o try_v their_o spiritual_a estate_n they_o have_v false_a weight_n and_o unequal_a balance_n to_o prove_v themselves_o by_o they_o be_v very_o willing_a to_o save_v themselves_o the_o labour_n though_o they_o be_v deceive_v a_o man_n be_v loath_a to_o be_v cozen_v by_o another_o but_o here_o be_v his_o folly_n that_o he_o be_v willing_a enough_o to_o deceive_v and_o betray_v himself_o such_o fool_n the_o devil_n make_v many_o man_n because_o they_o take_v not_o right_a glass_n to_o look_v on_o themselves_o in_o and_o so_o they_o deceive_v themselves_o for_o if_o a_o man_n think_v himself_o to_o be_v something_o when_o he_o be_v nothing_o he_o deceive_v himself_o but_o let_v every_o man_n prove_v etc._n etc._n in_o cure_v and_o that_o be_v his_o disease_n than_o which_o none_o more_o common_a for_o there_o be_v not_o the_o worst_a of_o man_n but_o will_v say_v i_o thank_v god_n i_o be_o something_o and_o i_o be_o not_o half_a so_o bad_a as_o the_o preacher_n will_v make_v i_o i_o have_v some_o good_a thing_n in_o i_o now_o this_o his_o disease_n stand_v in_o two_o thing_n 1._o that_o he_o be_v nothing_o 2._o that_o he_o think_v himself_o to_o be_v something_o 1._o he_o be_v nothing_o and_o for_o a_o man_n to_o be_v bring_v before_o god_n judgment-seat_n and_o have_v nothing_o to_o answer_v how_o will_v it_o fare_v with_o he_o then_o but_o yet_o this_o man_n can_v but_o think_v he_o be_v something_o well_o than_o something_o he_o be_v but_o nothing_o to_o the_o purpose_n as_o we_o say_v of_o a_o idol_n a_o idol_n be_v nothing_o in_o the_o world_n that_o be_v nothing_o that_o can_v help_v or_o succour_v those_o that_o bow_n to_o they_o and_o adore_v they_o nothing_o that_o they_o shall_v have_v in_o they_o a_o idol_n be_v something_o indeed_o for_o it_o be_v silver_n or_o gold_n or_o brass_n or_o stone_n etc._n etc._n but_o it_o be_v nothing_o that_o be_v be_v nothing_o to_o the_o purpose_n nothing_o that_o can_v plead_v for_o a_o man_n when_o he_o hold_v up_o his_o hand_n at_o god_n bar_n 2._o he_o think_v himself_o to_o be_v something_o though_o he_o be_v nothing_o he_o think_v he_o shall_v come_v to_o heaven_n though_o he_o be_v not_o in_o the_o way_n as_o the_o foolish_a virgin_n that_o think_v they_o shall_v be_v let_v in_o fear_v not_o the_o contrary_a till_o false_a glass_n self-love_n 1._o the_o first_o false_a glass_n be_v self-love_n and_o the_o property_n of_o love_n be_v to_o make_v the_o good_a thing_n in_o the_o party_n it_o love_v very_o great_a and_o the_o vice_n very_o little_a self-love_n represent_v nothing_o in_o its_o true_a shape_n the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o the_o late_a day_n 2_o tim._n 3._o say_v there_o shall_v be_v perilous_a time_n and_o wherein_o lie_v the_o peril_n man_n shall_v be_v lover_n of_o their_o own_o self_n as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v that_o be_v one_o of_o the_o worst_a peril_n for_o a_o man_n to_o have_v a_o that_o be_v full_a of_o malice_n and_o envy_n towards_o his_o neighbour_n consider_v what_o a_o false_a glass_n this_o be_v the_o man_n that_o want_v love_n see_v how_o the_o good_a and_o bad_a deed_n of_o his_o neighbour_n show_v themselves_o to_o he_o when_o he_o look_v on_o the_o good_a action_n of_o his_o neighbour_n they_o appear_v but_o very_o small_a he_o be_v always_o abridge_n and_o contract_v his_o virtue_n and_o good_a thing_n make_v they_o seem_v less_o than_o they_o be_v on_o the_o other_o side_n all_o thing_n he_o see_v amiss_o in_o he_o this_o want_n of_o love_n make_v they_o far_o great_a than_o they_o be_v love_n breed_v the_o contrary_a when_o a_o man_n love_v himself_o his_o good_a thing_n seem_v very_o great_a and_o his_o evil_a thing_n very_o small_a those_o i_o i_o have_v not_o only_o a_o good_a conceit_n of_o myself_o but_o every_o man_n about_o i_o can_v speak_v well_o of_o i_o can_v say_v black_a be_v my_o eye_n i_o have_v a_o good_a report_n of_o virtue_n and_o it_o be_v far_o short_a of_o love_n but_o consider_v it_o as_o a_o instrument_n whereby_o christ_n be_v apply_v and_o it_o transcend_v it_o work_v wonder_n beyond_o its_o proper_a sphere_n for_o the_o mean_a thing_n it_o lay_v hold_v on_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n he_o that_o have_v the_o son_n have_v life_n etc._n etc._n some_o will_v think_v this_o a_o hard_a kind_n of_o according_a to_o the_o true_a proverb_n the_o dog_n be_v return_v to_o his_o vomit_n and_o the_o sow_n that_o be_v wash_v to_o her_o wallow_n in_o the_o mire_n mark_v the_o dog_n turn_v again_o to_o his_o own_o vomit_n this_o proceed_v from_o some_o pang_n in_o his_o stomach_n that_o enforce_v that_o filthy_a beast_n to_o disgorge_v itself_o that_o it_o may_v have_v some_o ease_n but_o he_o quick_o gather_v it_o up_o again_o as_o soon_o as_o the_o pang_n be_v over_o some_o there_o be_v that_o will_v be_v content_a to_o hide_v their_o iniquity_n under_o their_o tongue_n as_o job_n speak_v but_o there_o come_v a_o pang_n sometime_o a_o pang_n in_o their_o conscience_n which_o force_v they_o to_o vomit_v up_o their_o sweet_a bit_n again_o but_o well_o the_o fit_a be_v go_v and_o be_v go_v they_o like_o the_o filthy_a dog_n return_v to_o their_o vomit_n again_o consider_v the_o pleasure_n which_o they_o take_v in_o that_o filthy_a thing_n that_o they_o do_v disgorge_v themselves_o be_v but_o from_o that_o pang_n and_o present_a pinch_n not_o from_o the_o loathe_n or_o hatred_n of_o the_o thing_n and_o therefore_o they_o return_v again_o unto_o it_o by_o the_o way_n than_o take_v notice_n of_o the_o filthiness_n of_o sin_n how_o filthy_a be_v it_o that_o the_o lord_n compare_v it_o to_o the_o vomit_n of_o a_o dog_n then_o there_o follow_v another_o comparison_n of_o it_o it_o be_v as_o the_o soâ—_n that_o be_v wash_v and_o return_n to_o she_o wallow_v in_o the_o mire_n see_v another_o loathsome_a resemblance_n of_o this_o temporary_a faith_n the_o sow_n be_v wash_v but_o how_o she_o swinish_a nature_n be_v not_o wash_v from_o she_o as_o long_o as_o the_o sow_n be_v keep_v from_o the_o mire_n in_o a_o fair_a meadow_n with_o the_o sheep_n she_o look_v as_o yet_o she_o go_v again_o to_o her_o wallow_n in_o the_o mire_n there_o may_v be_v the_o cast_v away_o of_o a_o man_n sin_n and_o yet_o no_o new_a creature_n wrought_v in_o he_o that_o i_o may_v show_v this_o to_o you_o take_v this_o example_n a_o man_n know_v to_o be_v as_o covetous_a a_o man_n as_o live_v he_o love_v his_o money_n as_o well_o as_o his_o god_n yet_o perchance_o this_o man_n be_v bring_v in_o danger_n of_o the_o law_n and_o must_v be_v hang_v for_o some_o misdemeanour_n commit_v this_o man_n to_o save_v his_o life_n will_v part_v with_o all_o he_o have_v what_o be_v his_o
