be_v heavenly_a and_o spiritual_a and_o from_o henceforth_o to_o yield_v our_o service_n not_o to_o the_o law_n in_o the_o letter_n and_o ceremony_n but_o unto_o jesus_n chryst_n in_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n which_o spirit_n we_o have_v receive_v from_o the_o hand_n of_o our_o spouse_n for_o a_o wedding_n ring_n to_o put_v we_o always_o in_o remembrance_n of_o our_o hearty_a duty_n &_o good_a will_n towards_o he_o but_o i_o stand_v in_o doubt_n lest_o some_o man_n here_o will_v object_n against_o i_o and_o say_v see_v then_o that_o in_o serve_v the_o law_n we_o be_v ever_o find_v in_o sin_n of_o the_o same_o and_o also_o subject_v to_o death_n it_o shall_v seem_v to_o conclude_v that_o the_o law_n be_v sin_n and_o bring_v we_o to_o death_n for_o as_o it_o be_v the_o property_n of_o righteousness_n to_o bring_v man_n to_o life_n even_o so_o be_v it_o the_o property_n of_o sin_n to_o bring_v man_n to_o death_n wherefore_o consider_v the_o law_n bring_v we_o to_o death_n it_o may_v be_v call_v sin_n or_o at_o the_o least_o wise_a join_v patente_a to_o sin_n but_o god_n forbid_v that_o any_o man_n shall_v think_v so_o for_o very_o the_o law_n be_v not_o the_o author_n of_o sin_n he_o but_o the_o herald_n &_o messenger_n of_o sin_n which_o be_v unknown_a to_o we_o before_o the_o law_n be_v proclaim_v at_o which_o time_n every_o man_n follow_v his_o own_o sensuality_n and_o lust_n think_v that_o he_o may_v lawful_o do_v what_o so_o ever_o his_o heart_n corrupt_o desire_v and_o think_v it_o also_o lawful_a to_o desire_v that_o which_o seem_v pleasant_a in_o his_o own_o conceit_n for_o which_o cause_n pardon_v and_o flatter_a myself_o in_o this_o behalf_n i_o think_v it_o none_o offence_n at_o all_o to_o covet_v that_o which_o do_v belong_v to_o another_o man_n 5._o if_o the_o law_n have_v not_o say_v unto_o i_o thou_o shall_v not_o lust_n and_o no_o man_n can_v deny_v but_o that_o the_o law_n be_v declare_v for_o the_o coercion_n and_o restraint_n of_o sin_n though_o the_o thing_n itself_o happen_v all_o contrary_a unto_o we_o through_o our_o own_o vice_n and_o imperfection_n for_o at_o what_o time_n the_o law_n do_v open_a unto_o we_o our_o sin_n sin_n and_o give_v we_o not_o thereto_o might_n and_o strength_n to_o resist_v they_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o our_o lust_n to_o sin_n be_v make_v the_o more_o quick_a and_o ready_a to_o it_o because_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n be_v such_o that_o it_o most_o lust_v after_o that_o thing_n which_o be_v most_o forbid_v it_o how_o be_v it_o before_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o law_n come_v many_o of_o our_o sin_n we_o know_v not_o and_o some_o of_o they_o we_o know_v after_o such_o a_o sort_n that_o we_o persuade_v ourselves_o they_o be_v not_o forbid_v we_o through_o which_o reason_n all_o we_o have_v the_o less_o regard_n to_o consider_v what_o be_v lust_n to_o sin_n in_o as_o much_o as_o all_o we_o by_o nature_n set_v small_a store_n by_o such_o thing_n as_o we_o think_v we_o may_v have_v at_o our_o will_n and_o commandment_n wherefore_o after_o the_o law_n have_v once_o set_v forth_o the_o multitude_n of_o sin_n to_o our_o face_n and_o do_v forbid_v they_o to_o we_o then_o we_o be_v the_o more_o greedy_a to_o spot_v and_o defile_v ourselves_o with_o the_o commit_n of_o they_o by_o which_o occasion_n sin_n take_v to_o himself_o strength_n and_o encouragement_n in_o we_o which_o before_o the_o come_n of_o the_o law_n lay_v and_o sleep_v &_o be_v as_o dead_a at_o which_o time_n i_o myself_o when_o i_o know_v not_o the_o law_n i_o lead_v my_o life_n like_o a_o outlaw_n death_n and_o think_v within_o myself_o that_o i_o may_v sin_v without_o the_o commit_n of_o any_o offence_n to_o god_n but_o when_o i_o perceive_v the_o law_n that_o do_v forbid_v i_o to_o sin_n they_o my_o sin_n begin_v to_o wax_v stout_a and_o to_o abound_v in_o i_o and_o to_o take_v the_o bridle_n in_o his_o tooth_n which_o fare_v thus_o foul_a with_o i_o whereas_o before_o i_o think_v i_o live_v i_o become_v in_o my_o own_o conscience_n stark_o dead_a because_o by_o the_o law_n i_o perceive_v my_o deadly_a wound_n and_o yet_o can_v not_o abstain_v from_o sin_v whereby_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o the_o thing_n which_o be_v provide_v i_o of_o god_n for_o my_o health_n be_v make_v to_o i_o a_o occasion_n of_o my_o death_n which_o thing_n be_v not_o through_o any_o injury_n of_o the_o law_n but_o it_o be_v only_o through_o my_o own_o vice_n weakness_n &_o imperfection_n for_o have_v in_o i_o a_o certain_a promptness_n and_o readiness_n to_o sin_n and_o my_o lust_n also_o take_v some_o occasion_n by_o the_o law_n itself_o because_o as_o i_o say_v before_o man_n do_v most_o common_o lust_n after_o that_o which_o be_v forbid_v they_o i_o be_v then_o even_o full_a of_o all_o greediness_n to_o sin_n and_o thus_o the_o devil_n use_v that_o wicked_o which_o of_o itself_o be_v good_a entice_v i_o unto_o sin_n by_o occasion_n of_o the_o law_n and_o by_o occasion_n of_o sin_n unto_o death_n to_o the_o end_n i_o shall_v acknowledge_v myself_o guilty_a thereof_o and_o to_o be_v thrall_n unto_o he_o for_o the_o same_o therefore_o thus_o you_o see_v then_o that_o there_o be_v no_o cause_n why_o any_o man_n shall_v contemn_v or_o deprave_v the_o law_n which_o as_o
flesh_n why_o or_o from_o this_o body_n of_o death_n which_o be_v thus_o subject_v to_o so_o many_o misery_n to_o so_o many_o provocation_n enticement_n to_o naughtiness_n encumber_v with_o so_o many_o vice_n and_o well_o nigh_o confound_v with_o these_o daily_a conflict_n that_o always_o hail_v i_o pull_v i_o down_o and_o draw_v i_o forcible_o to_o destruction_n and_o death_n think_v not_o you_o that_o he_o have_v just_a cause_n thus_o to_o bewail_v his_o state_n and_o to_o cry_v out_o that_o in_o this_o manner_n be_v daily_o besiege_v assault_v and_o trouble_v with_o so_o many_o mischief_n cruel_a and_o deadly_a adversary_n but_o the_o remedy_n hereof_o consider_v and_o the_o most_o happy_a mean_n remember_v for_o our_o deliverance_n rejoice_v oh_o what_o cause_n of_o great_a thankfulness_n by_o bind_a duty_n and_o all_o humbleness_n have_v we_o to_o give_v unto_o our_o god_n which_o merciful_o have_v set_v we_o in_o most_o happy_a state_n and_o safety_n and_o deliver_v law_n of_o sin_n in_o covet_v corrupt_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v dishonest_a and_o by_o the_o deadly_a force_n thereof_o my_o poor_a spirit_n always_o prevail_v against_o and_o turmoil_v with_o misery_n the_o eight_o chapter_n the_o law_n of_o the_o spirit_n give_v life_n the_o spirit_n of_o god_n make_v we_o god_n child_n and_o heir_n with_o christ_n the_o abundant_a love_n of_o god_n can_v not_o be_v separate_v but_o now_o although_o there_o be_v yet_o many_o blot_n and_o stumble_a block_n of_o the_o old_a bondage_n still_o remain_v among_o christian_a man_n there_o be_v yet_o no_o by_o this_o change_n have_v now_o cess_v to_o live_v again_o after_o the_o illectation_n or_o wanton_a entice_a of_o the_o sensual_a lust_n of_o their_o flesh_n in_o asmuch_o as_o the_o law_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v heavenly_a spiritual_a and_o the_o author_n of_o life_n be_v also_o strong_a and_o full_a of_o might_n have_v free_o deliver_v they_o all_o from_o the_o bondage_n and_o law_n of_o sin_n 4._o from_o death_n the_o familiar_a companion_n of_o sin_n and_o the_o just_a reward_n of_o the_o same_o which_o thing_n because_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n be_v carnal_a and_o in_o consideration_n thereof_o very_o weak_a of_o itself_o 7._o god_n do_v foresee_v and_o provide_v for_o the_o salvation_n of_o man_n after_o a_o other_o sort_n and_o fashion_n and_o like_v as_o i_o have_v say_v before_o that_o in_o one_o man_n there_o be_v two_o man_n one_o carnal_a and_o a_o other_o spiritual_a even_o so_o within_o the_o precinct_n of_o moses_n law_n there_o be_v two_o law_n the_o one_o gross_a and_o carnal_a law_n and_o the_o other_o holy_a and_o spiritual_a the_o first_o of_o these_o two_o law_n have_v moses_n for_o his_o author_n and_o beginner_n which_o as_o it_o be_v not_o perpetual_a even_o so_o it_o be_v not_o of_o virtue_n to_o give_v any_o salvation_n to_o man_n the_o second_o law_n be_v spiritual_a strange_a full_a of_o efficacy_n and_o immortal_a which_o christ_n himself_o have_v consummate_v and_o fulfil_v to_o all_o such_o as_o believe_v in_o he_o howbeit_o it_o be_v very_o expedient_a that_o one_o flesh_n shall_v abolish_v and_o put_v away_o a_o other_o one_o sacrifice_n to_o prevail_v before_o a_o other_o and_o one_o death_n most_o mighty_o to_o suppress_v a_o other_o god._n therefore_o god_n the_o father_n hunger_a and_o thirst_v in_o his_o mercy_n after_o man_n salvation_n send_v his_o only_a dear_a son_n which_o though_o he_o be_v free_a from_o all_o contagion_n of_o sin_n yet_o he_o take_v upon_o he_o the_o same_o flesh_n that_o all_o other_o sinner_n have_v and_o become_v conversant_a amongst_o the_o wicked_a as_o one_o of_o they_o himself_o for_o the_o most_o precious_a redemption_n of_o man_n unto_o the_o same_o salvation_n thencefoorthe_o embrace_v the_o second_o part_n of_o the_o law_n which_o be_v heavenly_a and_o spiritual_a and_o that_o minister_v not_o ire_n and_o threaten_n as_o do_v the_o old_a part_n of_o the_o law_n but_o very_o righteousness_n to_o all_o such_o as_o do_v not_o lead_v their_o life_n after_o the_o letter_n and_o ceremony_n of_o the_o jew_n but_o after_o the_o spirit_n and_o inward_a mind_n of_o the_o law_n as_o man_n regenerate_v and_o new_a bear_v again_o in_o jesus_n christ_n the_o jew_n in_o their_o ceremony_n have_v as_o it_o be_v but_o the_o dead_a picture_n and_o image_n of_o righteousness_n but_o we_o have_v the_o verâ—â—â—e_n live_a and_o quick_a righteousness_n itself_o and_o the_o very_o perfect_v rule_n of_o all_o godliness_n which_o christ_n by_o his_o spirit_n have_v wrought_v in_o we_o wherefore_o the_o true_a change_n of_o our_o state_n condition_n and_o fashion_n of_o religion_n declare_v the_o manner_n of_o a_o new_a life_n in_o we_o and_o we_o perceive_v very_o evident_o that_o all_o such_o of_o the_o jew_n which_o still_o continue_v in_o the_o rottenness_n of_o their_o old_a form_n of_o religion_n 55._o and_o in_o the_o flesh_n or_o grossness_n of_o the_o law_n be_v delight_v and_o please_v with_o all_o such_o thing_n as_o be_v gross_a carnal_a and_o fleshly_a contrariwise_o all_o such_o as_o be_v engraft_v into_o christ_n be_v become_v spiritual_a and_o precise_a in_o righteousness_n utter_o banish_v from_o they_o all_o such_o old_a thing_n as_o appertain_v to_o the_o flesh_n and_o be_v constant_o rapt_v in_o their_o mind_n to_o all_o such_o thing_n as_o be_v spiritual_a for_o true_o even_o such_o as_o the_o state_n condition_n and_o nature_n of_o the_o man_n be_v such_o be_v his_o desire_n and_o common_a inclination_n to_o work_v as_o touch_v our_o flesh_n we_o be_v all_o mortal_a but_o christ_n that_o be_v immortal_a have_v now_o call_v we_o to_o a_o life_n in_o he_o which_o be_v immortal_a again_o the_o carnal_a law_n of_o the_o jew_n be_v always_o against_o christ_n and_o call_v we_o from_o he_o which_o for_o the_o same_o cause_n bring_v death_n with_o it_o in_o as_o much_o as_o it_o contend_v and_o strive_v against_o he_o which_o be_v the_o only_a author_n of_o life_n by_o reason_n whereof_o the_o jew_n be_v strike_v with_o the_o zeal_n and_o love_n of_o the_o same_o law_n do_v put_v to_o death_n the_o author_n of_o their_o life_n and_o justification_n but_o contrariwise_o they_o that_o set_v the_o grossness_n of_o the_o law_n at_o naught_o and_o follow_v the_o spirit_n do_v find_v most_o plenteous_a life_n in_o christ_n jesus_n neither_o do_v they_o argue_v upon_o the_o barren_a and_o hungry_a observance_n of_o the_o law_n but_o have_v in_o their_o heart_n the_o pleasant_a savour_n suffer_v for_o the_o weakling_n sake_n or_o else_o for_o no_o cause_n at_o all_o for_o to_o observe_v they_o amongst_o man_n that_o be_v perfect_v it_o be_v great_o repugn_v the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o the_o holy_a gospel_n also_o the_o weak_a man_n in_o his_o faith_n make_v difference_n betwixt_o day_n and_o day_n faith_n as_o though_o one_o day_n be_v holy_a and_o another_o unholy_a and_o that_o it_o be_v lawful_a to_o eat_v that_o thing_n upon_o one_o day_n which_o may_v not_o be_v eat_v upon_o another_o day_n but_o contrary_a he_o that_o be_v strong_a and_o sound_o in_o his_o faith_n religion_n for_o the_o disputation_n or_o question_v about_o these_o matter_n let_v not_o the_o christian_a concord_n be_v break_v amongst_o you_o in_o any_o case_n but_o let_v every_o man_n for_o the_o time_n follow_v his_o own_o judgement_n and_o not_o condemn_v any_o other_o man_n opinion_n inasmuch_o as_o either_o of_o the_o party_n may_v be_v without_o offence_n &_o in_o either_o of_o occasion_n of_o his_o weakness_n in_o this_o behalf_n eschew_v surfeit_v &_o unnatural_a contagion_n &_o by_o reason_n hereof_o keep_v also_o himself_o within_o the_o limit_n of_o chastity_n in_o such_o thing_n we_o be_v all_o of_o like_a affect_v neither_o ought_v we_o for_o the_o uphold_v of_o our_o fantastical_a opinion_n in_o these_o point_n be_v therefore_o at_o variance_n with_o our_o
