wicked_a afflict_a see_v the_o least_o of_o his_o sin_n great_a than_o the_o great_a mercy_n of_o god_n the_o one_o in_o trouble_n by_o faith_n glorifi_v the_o lord_n note_n and_o by_o mercy_n find_v salvation_n the_o other_o in_o trouble_n by_o mistrust_n dishonour_v the_o lord_n and_o by_o justice_n find_v damnation_n the_o one_o by_o trouble_n thoroughe_o faith_n in_o christ_n be_v make_v like_o unto_o the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o can_v be_v separate_v from_o he_o in_o eternal_a life_n the_o other_o by_o trouble_n through_o desperation_n of_o christ_n be_v make_v like_o unto_o satan_n and_o can_v be_v separate_v from_o he_o in_o eternal_a death_n the_o one_o in_o eternal_a life_n find_v everlasting_a joy_n the_o other_o in_o everlasting_a death_n find_v endless_a pain_n almighty_a god_n therefore_o grant_v we_o grace_v in_o all_o our_o trouble_n and_o affliction_n penitent_o and_o faithful_o to_o call_v upon_o he_o and_o to_o find_v he_o merciful_a unto_o we_o his_o wretched_a creature_n amen_n the_o three_o thing_n to_o be_v note_v in_o this_o second_o part_n be_v much_o that_o god_n nature_n and_o man_n differ_v much_o one_o from_o the_o other_o for_o man_n for_o the_o most_o part_n be_v no_o more_o serviceable_a unto_o god_n nor_o long_a friendly_a unto_o man_n than_o god_n condition_n upon_o the_o earth_n be_v fortunate_a and_o quiet_a with_o the_o world_n favour_v for_o if_o storny_n arise_v for_o god_n cause_n and_o trouble_v happen_v where_o quietness_n erst_o have_v place_n the_o man_n of_o the_o world_n alter_v their_o love_n service_n and_o reverence_n and_o will_v neither_o make_v nor_o meddle_v with_o god_n nor_o his_o cause_n no_o although_o ten_o thousand_o idol_n be_v bring_v in_o for_o one_o god_n as_o english_a man_n have_v see_v in_o former_a time_n as_o long_o as_o christ_n have_v a_o king_n in_o this_o realm_n to_o hold_v of_o his_o part_n time_n and_o that_o great_a live_n gain_n friendship_n and_o love_n of_o y_fw-fr e_o world_n rise_v for_o god_n sake_n they_o dissemble_v towards_o his_o word_n and_o so_o long_o as_o fair_a word_n can_v please_v god_n he_o lack_v none_o but_o now_o even_o such_o as_o god_n do_v most_o for_o do_v know_v neither_o god_n nor_o his_o word_n but_o have_v rather_o hear_v ten_o time_n speak_v of_o the_o false_a tradition_n that_o ever_o man_n bring_v into_o the_o church_n than_o once_o of_o christ_n most_o holy_a gospel_n so_o that_o now_o man_n nature_n for_o adversity_n sake_n be_v clean_o turn_v from_o god_n how_o long_o the_o love_n of_o man_n continue_v towards_o man_n daily_a experience_n show_v within_o one_o month_n man_n if_o a_o man_n fall_v into_o trouble_n for_o the_o most_o just_a cause_n he_o that_o be_v his_o friend_n will_v not_o only_o alter_v his_o love_n from_o he_o but_o also_o all_o the_o note_n and_o token_n of_o the_o same_o whereas_o in_o prosperity_n he_o be_v assure_v both_o of_o friendly_a word_n and_o friendly_a work_n in_o adversity_n he_o shall_v find_v neither_o word_n nor_o work_n except_o word_n and_o work_n of_o displeasure_n in_o prosperity_n fair_a look_n and_o amiable_a countenance_n be_v as_o common_a as_o the_o cart_n way_n in_o adversity_n there_o shall_v neither_o look_v nor_o countenance_n be_v show_v except_o it_o be_v frown_v and_o bend_v of_o brow_n yea_o and_o moreover_o adversity_n take_v from_o the_o dissemble_a friend_n all_o knowledge_n that_o ever_o he_o have_v of_o his_o friend_n afflict_v that_o if_o the_o poor_a afflict_a although_o he_o be_v even_o under_o the_o nose_n of_o his_o feign_a friend_n with_o courtesy_n and_o all_o obeisance_n can_v be_v know_v oh_o god_n afflict_a bless_a be_v thy_o name_n that_o withdrawe_v neither_o thy_o knowledge_n love_n nor_o yet_o thy_o help_n most_o part_n for_o they_o hate_v the_o man_n for_o trouble_v and_o not_o for_o sin_n for_o let_v the_o wicked_a man_n alive_a have_v prosperity_n and_o all_o wicked_a man_n will_v love_v he_o for_o his_o prosperity_n sake_n god_n turn_v not_o his_o favour_n from_o man_n for_o trouble_n but_o for_o sin_n the_o world_n for_o trouble_n sake_n will_v not_o know_v the_o most_o dear_a and_o honest_a friend_n but_o let_v the_o most_o wicked_a that_o live_v by_o breath_n have_v prosperity_n and_o wicked_a people_n will_v not_o fail_v to_o know_v he_o with_o beck_n and_o du-gard_n if_o he_o come_v into_o company_n yea_o rather_o than_o fail_v the_o most_o wicked_a man_n alive_a shall_v be_v narrow_o seek_v out_o that_o wicked_a man_n may_v have_v acquaintance_n of_o he_o but_o he_o that_o have_v god_n to_o his_o friend_n be_v sure_a of_o a_o saviour_n as_o well_o in_o adversity_n as_o in_o prosperity_n as_o the_o prophet_n here_o declare_v which_o can_v in_o trouble_n send_v ease_n and_o in_o quietness_n continue_v joy_n for_o ever_o to_o he_o therefore_o be_v all_o laud_n and_o praise_v world_n without_o end_n amen_n the_o four_o thing_n to_o be_v note_v in_o this_o second_o part_n prayer_n be_v the_o continuance_n of_o the_o faithful_a afflict_a in_o prayer_n unto_o god_n for_o the_o prophet_n say_v that_o he_o lift_v up_o his_o hand_n all_o night_n and_o wax_v not_o weary_a of_o this_o continuance_n in_o prayer_n we_o learn_v two_o thing_n the_o one_o perseverance_n in_o prayer_n and_o the_o other_o patient_a expectation_n and_o willing_a sufferance_n until_o god_n send_v redress_n and_o ease_n to_o the_o first_o the_o scripture_n exhort_v we_o that_o we_o pray_v both_o hearty_o and_o continual_o unto_o god_n not_o because_o he_o be_v ignorant_a of_o our_o trouble_n but_o because_o we_o shall_v thorough_o be_v bring_v to_o understand_v that_o there_o be_v none_o can_v help_v we_o out_o of_o trouble_n but_o he_o and_o also_o that_o by_o continuance_n nor_o yet_o mean_n how_o to_o help_v but_o say_v 8_o thy_o will_v be_v do_v in_o earth_n as_o it_o be_v in_o heaven_n
unspeakable_a wisdom_n and_o justice_n make_v they_o for_o their_o sin_n alive_a and_o in_o security_n of_o conscience_n pharaoh_n to_o go_v to_o hell_n as_o pharaoh_n while_o he_o follow_v the_o israelite_n in_o persecution_n into_o the_o red_a sea_n 14._o souden_o be_v drew_v chore_n dathan_n and_o abiron_n while_o they_o be_v do_v their_o sacrifice_n god_n kill_v they_o 16._o in_o open_v the_o earth_n that_o swallow_v they_o alive_a down_o into_o hell_n now_o this_o inward_a discomfort_n 5._o although_o it_o eude_v not_o in_o joy_n but_o only_o in_o such_o as_o believe_v their_o sin_n to_o be_v forgive_v in_o the_o death_n and_o passion_n of_o christ_n yet_o we_o see_v by_o the_o example_n of_o the_o scripture_n that_o both_o good_a and_o bad_a suffer_v and_o feel_v this_o that_o their_o spirit_n will_v take_v no_o comfort_n discomfort_n but_o now_o as_o concern_v outward_a and_o external_a discomfort_n which_o be_v feel_v as_o well_o of_o such_o as_o have_v the_o word_n of_o god_n as_o such_o as_o have_v not_o the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o only_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n as_o we_o may_v see_v in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n how_o noah_n show_v the_o discomfort_n of_o all_o man_n and_o the_o destruction_n of_o the_o world_n for_o sin_n 6._o but_o this_o discomfort_n do_v not_o enter_v into_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o hearer_n christ_n complain_v of_o the_o same_o that_o the_o people_n have_v both_o discomfort_n and_o comfort_v preach_v unto_o they_o and_o yet_o they_o receive_v none_o of_o they_o both_o to_o who_o say_v christ_n shall_v i_o compare_v this_o generation_n it_o be_v like_a boy_n that_o sit_v in_o the_o street_n and_o cry_v unto_o their_o fellow_n and_o say_v we_o have_v play_v upon_o our_o timbrel_n to_o you_o and_o you_o and_o surrender_n of_o a_o whole_a realm_n to_o the_o utter_a destruction_n thereof_o into_o the_o hand_n and_o rule_n of_o a_o stranger_n and_o by_o the_o delivery_n and_o give_v over_o of_o christian_a soul_n into_o the_o hand_n and_o rule_n of_o the_o antichristian_a pope_n and_o his_o wicked_a clergy_n and_o yet_o this_o discomfort_n come_v no_o further_o than_o our_o outward_a ear_n if_o asaph_n the_o author_n of_o this_o psalm_n be_v amongst_o we_o he_o will_v say_v his_o spirit_n will_v take_v no_o consolation_n and_o this_o be_v a_o horrible_a plague_n that_o weekly_o this_o psalm_n be_v read_v amongst_o the_o popish_a clergy_n and_o yet_o it_o bring_v their_o spirit_n to_o no_o sorrow_n nor_o feel_v of_o god_n displeasure_n wherefore_o our_o own_o experience_n teach_v that_o there_o be_v a_o inward_a and_o a_o outward_a discomfort_n in_o this_o psalm_n and_o in_o the_o rest_n of_o god_n most_o holy_a word_n the_o one_o penitent_a sinner_n feel_v and_o by_o it_o amend_v their_o life_n and_o the_o other_o some_o wicked_a man_n feel_v and_o yet_o despair_v but_o of_o the_o most_o part_n of_o the_o world_n it_o be_v not_o feel_v at_o all_o whereof_o come_v the_o contempt_n of_o god_n etc._n the_o love_n of_o ourselves_o and_o of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o loss_n of_o our_o sinful_a soul_n in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v let_v we_o therefore_o mark_v the_o scripture_n that_o teach_v this_o discomfort_n and_o pray_v to_o god_n that_o as_o we_o see_v it_o in_o the_o letter_n so_o we_o may_v feel_v it_o in_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o two_o manner_n of_o consolation_n it_o shall_v be_v say_v in_o the_o next_o verse_n and_o of_o the_o brightness_n and_o darkness_n also_o in_o the_o psalm_n hereafter_o now_o in_o the_o trouble_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v be_v increase_v 39_o it_o be_v trouble_n engender_v by_o sin_n the_o occasion_n only_o of_o all_o man_n misery_n 8_o open_v and_o reveal_v unto_o the_o conscience_n by_o the_o law_n condemn_v by_o justice_n to_o eternal_a fire_n and_o it_o continue_v all_o night_n yea_o earth_n how_o much_o more_o the_o scripture_n declare_v not_o in_o the_o which_o night_n the_o darkness_n thereof_o sin_n that_o put_v man_n to_o such_o long_a pain_n for_o it_o and_o the_o next_o how_o gracious_a a_o god_n he_o be_v that_o will_v not_o yet_o suffer_v the_o discomfort_a spirit_n to_o despair_v in_o his_o discomfort_n as_o it_o follow_v marvellous_o in_o the_o next_o verse_n 3_o when_o i_o be_o in_o heaviness_n i_o will_v think_v upon_o god_n when_o my_o heart_n be_v vex_v i_o will_v complain_v sela._n while_o asaph_n be_v thus_o trouble_v in_o spirit_n he_o remember_v the_o lord_n alone_o and_o call_v unto_o he_o for_o help_v first_o out_o of_o this_o verse_n it_o be_v to_o be_v consider_v
