prayer_n against_o it_o and_o to_o walk_v upright_o perhaps_o you_o find_v not_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o spirit_n discover_v himself_o in_o strong_a and_o powerful_a act_n in_o your_o soul_n and_o have_v of_o christ_n or_o of_o himself_o the_o more_o inability_n shall_v he_o discern_v in_o himself_o to_o believe_v on_o christ_n and_o the_o trouble_a and_o distress_a sinner_n can_v of_o himself_o believe_v or_o lay_v hold_v on_o christ_n though_o christ_n be_v reveal_v to_o he_o and_o offer_v to_o he_o and_o all_o argument_n use_v to_o persuade_v he_o yet_o he_o be_v conclude_v under_o unbelief_n except_o the_o lord_n himself_o persuade_v and_o draw_v his_o heart_n no_o person_n can_v though_o they_o have_v eloquence_n piety_n pity_n art_n diligence_n wish_v and_o desire_v 2._o that_o no_o ordinance_n and_o mean_n whatsoevever_o can_v of_o themselves_o be_v the_o author_n of_o this_o unite_n faith_n if_o the_o apostle_n of_o christ_n do_v live_v among_o you_o and_o it_o no_o mean_n and_o ordinance_n of_o themselves_o can_v be_v the_o author_n of_o it_o do_v preach_v every_o day_n of_o the_o week_n unto_o you_o the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n neither_o they_o nor_o yet_o the_o gospel_n which_o they_o preach_v can_v by_o their_o own_o power_n make_v any_o one_o sinner_n to_o believe_v on_o christ_n matth._n 11._o 17._o we_o have_v pipe_v unto_o you_o and_o you_o have_v none_o of_o these_o as_o your_o work_n can_v be_v the_o author_n of_o this_o faith_n all_o these_o may_v be_v do_v and_o yet_o your_o heart_n remain_v still_o faithless_a rom._n 10._o 18._o have_v they_o not_o hear_v verse_n 16_o but_o they_o have_v not_o all_o obey_v 4._o god_n and_o god_n only_o be_v the_o author_n of_o the_o faith_n which_o unite_v we_o to_o christ_n no_o faith_n god_n and_o god_n only_o be_v the_o author_n of_o faith_n man_n say_v christ_n himself_o joh._n 6._o 44._o can_v come_v to_o i_o except_o the_o father_n draw_v he_o and_o verse_n 45._o they_o shall_v be_v all_o teach_v of_o god_n every_o man_n therefore_o that_o have_v hear_v and_o have_v learn_v of_o the_o father_n come_v unto_o i_o god_n himself_o must_v teach_v the_o heart_n and_o therefore_o christ_n almighty_a god_n say_v to_o your_o heart_n be_v willing_a and_o be_v able_a to_o take_v christ_n to_o receive_v he_o to_o give_v consent_n to_o be_v his_o you_o will_v never_o be_v able_a and_o never_o be_v willing_a to_o close_v with_o he_o etc._n etc._n therefore_o remember_v this_o every_o one_o of_o you_o who_o desire_v this_o faith_n of_o union_n i_o say_v remember_v that_o it_o be_v god_n only_o none_o but_o god_n who_o can_v give_v you_o christ_n and_o none_o but_o god_n can_v give_v you_o faith_n which_o unite_v you_o to_o christ_n it_o be_v his_o work_n and_o his_o alone_a never_o look_v for_o it_o from_o any_o power_n in_o yourselves_o or_o in_o any_o other_o creature_n but_o look_v only_o to_o god_n for_o it_o 2._o consider_v what_o mean_v god_n do_v use_v for_o the_o give_v and_o work_v of_o faith_n though_o faith_n consider_v the_o mean_n of_o work_v this_o faith_n the_o mean_n of_o themselves_o give_v not_o faith_n yet_o god_n do_v give_v faith_n by_o the_o mean_n although_o the_o conduit_n of_o itself_o give_v not_o water_n yet_o the_o fountain_n send_v it_o unto_o your_o house_n by_o the_o conduit_n now_o that_o mean_n be_v
