these_o be_v not_o true_a virtue_n it_o be_v even_o so_o almost_o in_o the_o infidel_n who_o reason_n be_v void_a and_o destitute_a of_o the_o light_n of_o god_n spirit_n

all_o strength_n according_a to_o the_o power_n of_o his_o glory_n to_o all_o suffering_n and_o patience_n with_o hope_n and_o in_o another_o place_n you_o be_v once_o darkness_n 5._o but_o now_o be_v parent_n who_o have_v son_n to_o be_v their_o heir_n by_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o birthright_n yet_o they_o inflame_v and_o kindle_v dertue_n set_v before_o their_o eye_n gift_n and_o reward_n who_o gracious_a &_o virtuous_a child_n acknowledge_v themselves_o to_o owe_v all_o even_a of_o duty_n to_o their_o parent_n without_o reward_n and_o therefore_o they_o refer_v all_o such_o benefit_n and_o reward_n to_o the_o mere_a bounty_n and_o liberality_n of_o their_o parent_n they_o look_v not_o for_o hire_v and_o reward_n as_o servant_n and_o hireling_n but_o only_o for_o the_o favour_n and_o love_n of_o their_o heavenly_a father_n and_o as_o the_o son_n of_o the_o free_a woman_n and_o not_o the_o son_n of_o the_o bondwoman_n be_v heir_n even_o so_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n be_v not_o the_o stipend_n of_o servant_n but_o the_o reward_n and_o heritage_n of_o child_n to_o conclude_v this_o matter_n of_o merit_n premise_n and_o reward_n the_o merciful_a and_o gracious_a lord_n reward_v his_o love_a child_n for_o their_o good_a work_n not_o for_o the_o perfection_n and_o dignity_n of_o the_o say_a work_n but_o because_o the_o doer_n of_o those_o good_a work_n be_v son_n and_o child_n they_o be_v make_v son_n &_o heir_n by_o adoption_n in_o christ_n &_o therefore_o their_o work_n be_v acceptable_a to_o god_n not_o in_o respect_n of_o themselves_o but_o for_o christ_n sake_n in_o who_o they_o be_v ingraff_v and_o of_o who_o moisture_n as_o it_o be_v of_o heavenly_a dew_n they_o be_v partaker_n so_o that_o all_o their_o reward_n be_v of_o necessity_n refer_v to_o the_o grace_n and_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o although_o we_o grant_v renumeration_n and_o reward_v of_o good_a work_n yet_o merit_n or_o desert_n can_v be_v infer_v thereof_o that_o by_o our_o work_n we_o be_v able_a to_o procure_v eternal_a life_n for_o the_o scripture_n seem_v of_o purpose_n in_o all_o place_n to_o avoid_v the_o word_n merit_n the_o stipend_n of_o sin_n be_v death_n but_o eternal_a life_n 6._o be_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n through_o jesus_n christ_n and_o therefore_o saint_n augustine_n write_v 88_o very_o excellent_o will_v thou_o fall_v from_o grace_n then_o boast_v thy_o own_o merit_n and_o again_o when_o a_o man_n see_v that_o all_o his_o goodness_n come_v not_o of_o himself_o but_o of_o god_n he_o easy_o acknowledge_v all_o that_o which_o be_v praiseworthy_a in_o he_o not_o to_o be_v of_o his_o own_o merit_n but_o of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god._n neither_o yet_o be_v the_o earnest_n and_o ardent_a doctrine_n desire_n of_o work_a righteousness_n extinguish_v
