day_n of_o the_o prayer_n and_o of_o the_o thanksgiving_a give_v by_o the_o apostle_n unto_o god_n for_o the_o colossian_n now_o follow_v to_o speak_v of_o the_o cause_n of_o the_o thanksgiving_n the_o matter_n be_v for_o their_o faith_n towards_o christ_n and_o love_n towards_o all_o saint_n these_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o the_o thanksgiving_n and_o prayer_n the_o apostle_n make_v daily_a and_o ordinary_o for_o the_o saint_n at_o colosse_n doctrine_n these_o thing_n we_o be_v to_o pray_v and_o give_v god_n thanks_o for_o especial_o in_o other_o quest_n quest_n how_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v that_o there_o be_v diverse_a gift_n bestow_v on_o the_o colossian_n yet_o the_o apostle_n praise_v god_n and_o pray_v to_o he_o for_o these_o only_a see_v there_o be_v nothing_o but_o which_o be_v receive_v from_o god_n all_o he_o be_v to_o be_v praise_v and_o pray_v unto_o for_o they_o especial_o see_v he_o before_o wish_v they_o peace_n viz._n all_o temporal_a benefit_n and_o have_v pray_v to_o god_n for_o these_o why_o do_v he_o not_o thank_v god_n for_o they_o as_o health_n peace_n &_o c_o answer_n the_o reason_n that_o the_o apostle_n make_v choice_n of_o faith_n and_o love_n not_o of_o other_o though_o he_o christian_n faith_n and_o charity_n be_v grace_n chief_o to_o be_v desire_v and_o god_n be_v chief_o to_o be_v praise_v for_o they_o as_o be_v the_o cardinal_n virtue_n of_o christian_n be_v not_o unmindful_a of_o they_o be_v to_o teach_v we_o what_o gift_n we_o be_v especial_o to_o pray_v for_o &_o desire_v of_o god_n and_o to_o give_v thanks_o for_o be_v receive_v where_o he_o meet_v with_o the_o corruption_n of_o man_n that_o will_v pray_v and_o desire_v worldly_a thing_n and_o will_v labour_v mighty_o in_o the_o comfort_n of_o this_o present_a life_n and_o never_o make_v mention_n of_o these_o which_o be_v principal_a whereas_o the_o other_o be_v but_o sweepinge_n and_o those_o thing_n which_o be_v to_o be_v cast_v to_o dog_n in_o comparison_n and_o as_o dung_n and_o dross_n nay_o less_o than_o nothing_o in_o comparison_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o thing_n belong_v to_o he_o which_o be_v of_o most_o singular_a price_n as_o if_o a_o man_n note_n note_n shall_v be_v careful_a for_o the_o hang_n of_o a_o house_n and_o have_v no_o care_n for_o a_o house_n to_o put_v they_o in_o or_o to_o lie_v in_o and_o for_o the_o boss_n of_o the_o bridle_n and_o not_o the_o bridle_n for_o the_o trap_n of_o the_o horse_n and_o have_v never_o a_o horse_n to_o ride_v upon_o and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n set_v down_o these_o two_o true_a he_o be_v your_o neighbour_n but_o if_o you_o love_v he_o why_o do_v you_o not_o love_v he_o also_o that_o be_v poor_a which_o be_v more_o near_o peradventure_o if_o he_o be_v a_o professor_n and_o again_o if_o your_o love_n be_v to_o the_o rich_a because_o of_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n than_o you_o will_v love_v the_o poor_a aswell_o as_o the_o rich_a as_o if_o for_o the_o love_n of_o god_n you_o abstain_v from_o adultery_n theft_n murder_n etc._n etc._n then_o you_o will_v abstain_v from_o all_o other_o sin_n which_o be_v of_o the_o same_o nature_n all_o the_o commandment_n be_v of_o the_o same_o nature_n come_v from_o god_n who_o be_v one_o and_o the_o same_o and_o therefore_o if_o i_o abstain_v from_o one_o sin_n for_o the_o love_n of_o note_n note_n god_n sake_n i_o will_v aswell_o abstain_v from_o another_o for_o that_o cause_n and_o therefore_o this_o condemn_v the_o common_a practice_n of_o man_n that_o be_v blame_v for_o some_o one_o sin_n as_o drunkenness_n be_v consider_v in_o the_o person_n thing_n belong_v to_o the_o person_n in_o the_o person_n to_o be_v consider_v whether_o they_o have_v knowledge_n that_o they_o be_v gentle_o teach_v if_o they_o have_v knowledge_n and_o yet_o no_o conscience_n they_o must_v use_v sharp_a reprehension_n lay_v the_o judgement_n of_o god_n to_o wake_v their_o sleepy_a conscience_n if_o there_o be_v both_o then_o use_v partly_o threat_n partly_o gentle_a deal_n if_o any_o be_v cast_v down_o then_o to_o give_v they_o comfortable_a exhortation_n lay_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n before_o they_o for_o if_o man_n whether_o they_o be_v child_n or_o man_n and_o then_o they_o must_v if_o they_o be_v babe_n have_v milk_n if_o strong_a they_o must_v have_v strong_a meat_n further_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o person_n consider_v whether_o public_a or_o private_a if_o private_a at_o least_o to_o a_o few_o if_o it_o be_v public_o reprove_v it_o be_v a_o want_n of_o wisdom_n if_o public_a then_o public_o not_o private_o to_o be_v reprove_v again_o consider_v whether_o the_o sin_n be_v of_o infirmity_n or_o of_o maliciousness_n if_o of_o malice_n and_o contempt_n it_o must_v be_v more_o sharp_o prick_v through_o thus_o of_o the_o faithfulness_n of_o the_o minister_n to_o preach_v christ_n both_o by_o the_o doctrine_n and_o also_o by_o the_o admonition_n to_o give_v a_o point_n to_o it_o that_o the_o doctrine_n may_v enter_v through_o we_o have_v also_o hear_v of_o the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o apostle_n the_o end_n of_o all_o this_o teach_n and_o admonish_v be_v to_o make_v man_n the_o lord_n prayer_n to_o do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n like_o the_o angel_n in_o all_o readiness_n and_o willingness_n and_o we_o must_v grow_v and_o not_o be_v dwarf_n in_o christianity_n but_o still_o to_o grow_v for_o in_o christianity_n note_n note_n there_o be_v no_o old_a age_n but_o in_o the_o old_a age_n be_v a_o growth_n till_o such_o time_n as_o all_o rebellion_n and_o imperfection_n be_v take_v away_o in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n last_o be_v set_v down_o his_o diligence_n wherein_o he_o labour_v 29._o verse_n 29._o signify_v a_o labour_n with_o weariness_n till_o he_o have_v spend_v his_o strength_n as_o esay_n say_v of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n that_o he_o spend_v his_o strength_n in_o his_o ministry_n doctrine_n and_o further_a the_o apostle_n
