citizen_n of_o such_o a_o city_n which_o may_v worship_v god_n in_o that_o temple_n and_o indeed_o many_o come_v far_o &_o near_o to_o their_o great_a cost_n and_o pain_n to_o offer_v service_n to_o god_n in_o that_o place_n and_o happy_a may_v they_o seem_v to_o be_v which_o live_v and_o dwell_v in_o such_o a_o palace_n but_o all_o these_o be_v nothing_o in_o comparison_n of_o that_o city_n of_o that_o temple_n of_o that_o palace_n whereof_o we_o speak_v those_o be_v earthly_a outward_a mutable_a and_o transitory_a and_o subject_a to_o ruin_v &_o destruction_n these_o be_v celestial_a durable_a and_o everlasting_a our_o pilgrimage_n be_v end_v we_o shall_v be_v indeed_o citizen_n of_o that_o heavenly_a and_o holy_a jerusalem_n which_o shall_v be_v all_o of_o pure_a gold_n like_v proceed_v the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o from_o the_o knowledge_n of_o ourselves_o know_v god_n to_o be_v most_o just_a most_o merciful_a most_o wise_a most_o good_a and_o most_o powerful_a and_o if_o thou_o will_v know_v what_o god_n be_v see_v what_o thou_o be_v to_o he_o and_o what_o he_o be_v to_o thou_o and_o if_o thou_o will_v right_o know_v god_n cast_v off_o the_o love_n and_o wisdom_n of_o the_o world_n this_o double_a knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o thyself_o be_v necessary_a to_o salvation_n because_o as_o from_o the_o knowledge_n of_o thyself_o there_o come_v into_o thou_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n and_o also_o from_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n there_o proceed_v the_o love_n of_o god_n so_o on_o the_o contrary_a cant._n from_o the_o ignorance_n of_o thyself_o proceed_v pride_n and_o from_o the_o ignorance_n of_o god_n come_v desperation_n thou_o have_v find_v true_a wisdom_n if_o thou_o will_v amend_v the_o sin_n of_o thy_o former_a life_n if_o thou_o desire_v with_o all_o thy_o heart_n eternal_a blessedness_n 3._o thou_o have_v find_v wisdom_n if_o thou_o taste_v and_o savour_v all_o these_o thing_n as_o they_o be_v that_o thy_o sin_n be_v bitter_a to_o thou_o and_o abhor_v that_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n be_v as_o transitory_a and_o contemptible_a that_o the_o perfect_a good_a thing_n be_v with_o thy_o whole_a desire_n affect_v in_o these_o three_o thing_n thy_o mouth_n do_v slow_a with_o wisdom_n if_o in_o thy_o mouth_n there_o be_v confession_n of_o thy_o sin_n the_o voice_n of_o praise_n and_o of_o thankes-giung_a and_o the_o word_n of_o edification_n the_o wise_a man_n accuse_v himself_o glorifi_v god_n edifi_v his_o neighbour_n therefore_o in_o the_o philosopher_n there_o can_v be_v find_v no_o true_a wisdom_n because_o some_o thought_n that_o all_o thing_n may_v be_v know_v these_o be_v not_o wise_a other_o think_v nothing_o can_v be_v know_v these_o also_o be_v not_o wise_a the_o one_o because_o they_o give_v too_o much_o to_o man_n the_o other_o because_o they_o give_v too_o little_a this_o than_o be_v wisdom_n not_o to_o think_v thou_o know_v all_o thing_n which_o be_v proper_a to_o god_n nor_o yet_o to_o know_v nothing_o which_o be_v proper_a to_o beast_n knowledge_n in_o man_n be_v join_v with_o ignorance_n knowledge_n in_o we_o be_v from_o the_o soul_n which_o be_v from_o heaven_n ignorance_n be_v from_o the_o body_n which_o be_v from_o the_o earth_n so_o that_o we_o have_v some_o community_n both_o with_o god_n and_o with_o beast_n with_o god_n in_o respect_n of_o knowledge_n with_o beast_n in_o respect_n of_o ignorance_n the_o more_o we_o excel_v in_o divine_a knowledge_n the_o near_a and_o the_o more_o like_a we_o be_v to_o god_n himself_o who_o be_v not_o only_o the_o fountain_n and_o giver_n of_o wisdom_n but_o very_a wisdom_n itself_o but_o here_o may_v a_o objection_n be_v propound_v how_o be_v there_o any_o true_a happiness_n see_v both_o in_o the_o get_n hold_v and_o enjoy_v of_o wisdom_n there_o be_v much_o care_n labour_n sorrow_n and_o vexation_n of_o mind_n this_o solomon_n himself_o confess_v when_o he_o say_v i_o give_v my_o heart_n to_o know_v wisdom_n &_o knowledge_n 18._o madness_n and_o foolishness_n and_o i_o know_v also_o that_o this_o be_v a_o vexation_n of_o the_o spirit_n for_o in_o the_o multitude_n of_o wisdom_n be_v much_o grief_n and_o he_o take_v great_a pain_n in_o find_v out_o natural_a thing_n yet_o in_o many_o thing_n they_o be_v blind_a deceive_v in_o government_n either_o of_o commonwealth_n or_o family_n there_o be_v much_o care_n and_o labour_n in_o invent_v of_o counsel_n and_o grief_n when_o our_o counsel_n be_v hinder_v and_o have_v not_o good_a effect_n and_o sometime_o we_o err_v in_o govern_v and_o the_o wise_a man_n be_v not_o always_o so_o wise_a as_o they_o shall_v be_v and_o the_o best_a wisdom_n of_o man_n can_v foresee_v all_o danger_n which_o follow_v nor_o prevent_v they_o with_o all_o their_o cunning_n in_o mechanical_a trade_n and_o handicraft_n what_o care_n and_o labour_n to_o learn_v they_o to_o exercise_v they_o and_o to_o increase_v daily_o in_o skill_n and_o knowledge_n of_o they_o and_o in_o divine_a wisdom_n there_o must_v be_v great_a care_n and_o labour_n to_o get_v it_o to_o hold_v it_o to_o increase_v in_o it_o it_o will_v not_o be_v get_v by_o ease_n and_o carelessness_n but_o with_o great_a study_n and_o diligence_n and_o much_o sorrow_n be_v join_v with_o it_o good_a man_n be_v grieve_v because_o they_o can_v so_o soon_o and_o so_o easy_o learn_v and_o understand_v as_o many_o other_o can_v we_o read_v &_o hear_v many_o thing_n which_o do_v cause_v much_o grief_n unto_o we_o as_o our_o own_o sin_n and_o the_o sin_n of_o other_o and_o the_o fearful_a judgment_n of_o god_n which_o have_v fall_v upon_o man_n for_o sin_n and_o the_o more_o knowledge_n we_o have_v if_o we_o continue_v in_o sin_n without_o repentance_n the_o more_o we_o heap_v and_o multiply_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n upon_o we_o to_o our_o great_a grief_n and_o sorrow_n and_o the_o more_o learning_n and_o knowledge_n that_o man_n have_v the_o less_o ease_n and_o rest_n for_o many_o seek_v unto_o they_o and_o they_o be_v ready_a and_o willing_a to_o instruct_v other_o as_o much_o as_o they_o can_v which_o can_v be_v do_v without_o study_n and_o labour_n the_o call_n of_o the_o magistrate_n and_o of_o the_o minister_n though_o excellent_a &_o divine_a calling_n yet_o subject_a to_o much_o vexation_n sorrow_n and_o danger_n and_o exceed_a pain_n the_o apostle_n say_v who_o be_v sufficient_a for_o these_o thing_n and_o indeed_o they_o be_v heavy_a and_o intolerable_a burden_n for_o any_o mortal_a man_n to_o bear_v without_o the_o special_a help_n and_o grace_n of_o god_n beside_o the_o wise_a that_o a_o man_n be_v the_o more_o he_o search_v desire_v and_o seek_v for_o wisdom_n still_o &_o the_o more_o he_o see_v his_o own_o ignorance_n and_o this_o be_v grief_n and_o vexation_n of_o mind_n there_o be_v no_o perfection_n of_o wisdom_n in_o this_o life_n we_o see_v here_o but_o in_o part_n the_o best_a and_o holy_a and_o wise_a have_v their_o want_n infirmity_n &_o respect_n of_o wild_a beast_n thief_n enemy_n christ_n be_v bear_v among_o they_o he_o be_v bring_v up_o and_o dwell_v with_o they_o he_o come_v to_o they_o preach_v in_o every_o city_n town_n &_o synagogue_n his_o wisdom_n cry_v in_o their_o street_n and_o at_o their_o door_n this_o gracious_a woman_n spend_v much_o &_o be_v at_o great_a charge_n in_o come_v and_o return_v and_o give_v costly_a present_n to_o solomon_n christ_n free_o offer_v to_o they_o temporal_a and_o spiritual_a grace_n food_n to_o soul_n and_o body_n and_o yet_o they_o regard_v he_o not_o she_o be_v move_v with_o fame_n and_o report_n which_o be_v often_o falâ—e_a and_o untrue_a they_o see_v before_o their_o eye_n his_o wonder_n &_o wisdom_n there_o come_v to_o solomon_n a_o man_n be_v only_o a_o type_n of_o christ_n but_o the_o son_n of_o god_n the_o true_a messiah_n the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o father_n come_v of_o his_o own_o accord_n to_o they_o yea_o he_o come_v among_o his_o own_o but_o his_o own_o receive_v he_o not_o she_o come_v to_o learn_v to_o be_v resolve_v and_o satisfy_v of_o her_o doubt_n christ_n offer_v they_o divine_a wisdom_n such_o as_o be_v able_a to_o satisfy_v and_o resolve_v any_o that_o be_v willing_a to_o learn_v in_o all_o the_o matter_n of_o their_o salvation_n but_o they_o be_v carry_v away_o by_o a_o conceit_n of_o their_o own_o wisdom_n and_o righteousness_n think_v scornâ—_n to_o be_v resolve_v by_o he_o this_o queen_n above_o all_o thing_n prefer_v this_o heavenly_a wisdom_n as_o the_o chief_a treasure_n &_o felicity_n but_o they_o make_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n to_o be_v of_o no_o force_n by_o their_o own_o tradition_n she_o move_v many_o doubt_n to_o solomon_n with_o a_o good_a mind_n to_o be_v resolve_v they_o indeed_o ask_v many_o question_n &_o propound_v many_o doubt_n to_o our_o saviour_n but_o with_o most_o wicked_a malicious_a mind_n to_o catch_v entangle_v and_o entrap_v he_o in_o his_o speech_n this_o queen_n commend_v magnify_v &_o reverence_v solomon_n her_o teacher_n but_o they_o revile_v and_o blaspheme_v our_o saviour_n christ_n she_o stir_v up_o other_o to_o love_n and_o honour_n solomon_n they_o withdraw_v other_o so_o many_o as_o they_o can_v from_o honour_v of_o christ_n she_o account_v it_o true_a happiness_n to_o hear_v salomon_n wisdom_n they_o feel_v and_o find_v no_o such_o thing_n though_o they_o hear_v the_o wisdom_n of_o christ_n she_o a_o stranger_n admire_v solomon_n they_o of_o the_o same_o country_n stock_n and_o kindred_n with_o christ_n jesus_n and_o yet_o reject_v and_o despise_v he_o she_o most_o thankful_a to_o god_n and_o to_o solomon_n for_o the_o comfort_n &_o good_a which_o she_o have_v receive_v but_o they_o most_o creul_fw-fr &_o unthankful_a not_o only_o he_o that_o justify_v the_o wicked_a but_o he_o also_o that_o condemn_v the_o just_a 15._o even_o they_o both_o be_v a_o abomination_n to_o the_o lord_n this_o proceed_v from_o cruelty_n
