yea_o many_o time_n it_o make_v god_n withdraw_v his_o countenance_n which_o make_v david_n cry_v out_o restore_v to_o i_o the_o joy_n of_o thy_o salvation_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v lord_n i_o be_v wont_a to_o have_v joy_n in_o thy_o company_n in_o communion_n with_o thou_o but_o thou_o have_v estrange_v thyself_o from_o my_o soul_n o_o lord_n restore_v unto_o i_o the_o joy_n of_o thy_o salvation_n now_o be_v not_o this_o a_o burden_n for_o thou_o to_o loose_v the_o sweetness_n of_o thy_o soul_n in_o communion_n with_o god_n that_o now_o though_o it_o may_v be_v it_o be_v through_o thy_o weakness_n or_o what_o it_o will_v be_v yet_o thou_o can_v not_o look_v upon_o god_n with_o that_o comfort_n as_o thou_o will_v but_o the_o thought_n of_o god_n come_v to_o be_v a_o terror_n upon_o thy_o spirit_n be_v not_o this_o a_o burden_n now_o then_o be_v there_o any_o poor_a soul_n that_o understand_v what_o these_o thing_n mean_v what_o a_o burden_n the_o remain_a corruption_n of_o the_o heart_n be_v either_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o sinfulness_n of_o nature_n or_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o stir_n of_o corruption_n or_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o prevail_a of_o corruption_n that_o now_o they_o have_v no_o rest_n in_o their_o soul_n but_o be_v lade_v with_o such_o a_o burden_n and_o cry_v out_o with_o the_o apostle_n oh_o wretched_a man_n and_o woman_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o let_v such_o a_o soul_n know_v that_o this_o text_n belong_v to_o they_o come_v unto_o i_o say_v christ_n and_o i_o will_v give_v you_o rest_v from_o this_o burden_n as_o well_o as_o the_o other_o burden_n and_o our_o rest_n be_v only_o in_o christ_n from_o this_o as_o well_o as_o the_o burden_n of_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n the_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n and_o the_o other_o burden_n that_o have_v be_v speak_v unto_o chap._n xvi_o why_o the_o saint_n feel_v these_o thing_n so_o burdensome_a namely_o 1._o because_o the_o life_n of_o grace_n be_v a_o tender_a and_o delicate_a thing_n 2._o because_o grace_n keep_v the_o soul_n in_o continual_a act_n and_o why_o god_n suffer_v corruption_n notwithstanding_o the_o burdensomness_n thereof_o to_o remain_v in_o the_o saint_n namely_o 1._o that_o hereby_o he_o may_v show_v forth_o his_o own_o power_n 2._o hereby_o their_o faith_n be_v exercise_v 3._o hereby_o they_o be_v drive_v unto_o prayer_n 4._o hereby_o stir_v up_o unto_o repentance_n 5._o hereby_o make_v know_v his_o wisdom_n 6._o hereby_o manifest_v his_o justice_n in_o lay_v a_o stumble_a block_n before_o the_o wicked_a 7._o hereby_o the_o saint_n may_v be_v induce_v to_o long_o more_o after_o heaven_n with_o two_o consequence_n issue_v from_o hence_o 1._o the_o difference_n between_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o godly_a and_o the_o wicked_a 2._o why_o the_o saint_n go_v on_o so_o sad_o in_o their_o way_n now_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v that_o a_o gracious_a heart_n must_v feel_v these_o thing_n to_o be_v very_o burdensome_a first_o because_o the_o life_n of_o grace_n wheresoever_o it_o be_v be_v a_o very_a tender_a and_o delicate_a thing_n nothing_o be_v so_o delicate_a and_o tender_a as_o the_o life_n of_o grace_n and_o therefore_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v sensible_a of_o this_o burden_n of_o corruption_n according_a to_o what_o degree_n it_o do_v remain_v in_o the_o soul_n as_o thus_o you_o know_v a_o man_n or_o woman_n the_o more_o delicate_a and_o tender_a they_o be_v in_o their_o flesh_n have_v have_v very_o curious_a bring_v up_o or_o it_o may_v be_v their_o natural_a spirit_n be_v very_o delicate_a more_o than_o other_o man_n some_o man_n their_o natural_a spirit_n be_v more_o gross_a and_o can_v bear_v burden_n with_o less_o sense_n but_o now_o those_o that_o be_v more_o fine_a and_o delicate_a if_o you_o lay_v a_o burden_n upon_o they_o oh_o how_o burdensome_a be_v it_o unto_o they_o now_o grace_n make_v the_o constitution_n to_o be_v delicate_a fine_a and_o pure_a a_o pure_a constitution_n it_o put_v the_o heart_n into_o a_o most_o pure_a constitution_n and_o therefore_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v sensible_a of_o the_o evil_a of_o sin_n according_a to_o the_o remainer_n of_o it_o second_o where_o grace_n be_v corruption_n must_v needs_o be_v very_o burdensome_a in_o this_o regard_n also_o because_o that_o grace_n keep_v the_o soul_n in_o continual_a action_n and_o stir_v now_o look_v as_o a_o man_n that_o have_v a_o leg_n that_o be_v break_v if_o he_o can_v lie_v still_o and_o never_o stir_v it_o will_v not_o be_v so_o grievous_a and_o burdensome_a to_o he_o the_o pain_n and_o break_n of_o his_o leg_n will_v not_o be_v so_o burdensome_a if_o he_o can_v lie_v still_o but_o if_o this_o man_n who_o leg_n be_v break_v must_v be_v stir_v walk_a and_o go_v up_o and_o down_o oh_o how_o burdensome_a be_v it_o that_o his_o leg_n be_v break_v so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o soul_n it_o be_v true_a if_o the_o soul_n may_v be_v still_o a_o sleep_n and_o do_v nothing_o then_o though_o there_o be_v corruption_n in_o they_o it_o will_v not_o be_v so_o grievous_a i_o but_o grace_n wherever_o it_o be_v put_v the_o soul_n unto_o action_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v call_v the_o divine_a nature_n because_o it_o be_v active_a it_o put_v the_o soul_n on_o to_o be_v act_v for_o god_n and_o in_o the_o way_n of_o life_n now_o grace_n put_v the_o soul_n to_o be_v act_v and_o corruption_n that_o be_v as_o the_o break_n of_o the_o bone_n it_o must_v needs_o be_v very_o burdensome_a that_o which_o most_o hinder_v their_o activity_n of_o grace_n must_v needs_o be_v very_o burdensome_a you_o have_v need_v therefore_o take_v heed_n what_o you_o do_v when_o temptation_n to_o sin_n come_v take_v heed_n you_o do_v not_o break_v your_o bone_n and_o your_o leg_n why_o because_o when_o you_o have_v break_v they_o you_o must_v be_v still_o stir_v and_o act_v for_o god_n a_o poor_a man_n it_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n worse_o for_o he_o if_o he_o break_v his_o leg_n than_o a_o rich_a man_n a_o rich_a man_n may_v sit_v by_o the_o fire_n or_o lie_v in_o his_o bed_n a_o month_n together_o but_o a_o poor_a man_n if_o he_o break_v his_o leg_n he_o do_v not_o know_v what_o to_o do_v he_o must_v to_o work_n perhaps_o he_o can_v have_v that_o harbour_n that_o a_o rich_a man_n may_v have_v so_o i_o say_v those_o that_o be_v of_o sluggish_a spirit_n though_o corruption_n prevail_v it_o be_v not_o so_o grievous_a unto_o they_o but_o those_o that_o be_v of_o active_a spirit_n and_o have_v grace_n and_o the_o more_o grace_n that_o any_o man_n or_o woman_n have_v the_o more_o burdensome_a their_o corruption_n be_v because_o the_o more_o grace_n there_o be_v in_o the_o soul_n the_o more_o active_a it_o will_v be_v for_o god_n quest_n but_o you_o will_v say_v see_v the_o remain_v of_o corruption_n in_o the_o heurt_n of_o the_o saint_n be_v so_o burdensome_a why_o do_v god_n so_o order_v thing_n in_o his_o providence_n as_o his_o own_o dear_a saint_n shall_v be_v so_o trouble_v with_o their_o corruption_n while_o they_o live_v in_o this_o world_n god_n can_v deliver_v they_o from_o their_o corruption_n why_o will_v god_n make_v they_o cry_v out_o o_o wretched_a man_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o this_o body_n of_o death_n god_n can_v as_o well_o perfect_a our_o sanctification_n as_o our_o justification_n why_o do_v god_n thus_o order_v thing_n in_o his_o providence_n that_o his_o own_o dear_a saint_n shall_v groan_v under_o such_o a_o burden_n of_o corruption_n all_o their_o day_n answ_n for_o that_o brief_o thus_o though_o it_o be_v true_a that_o god_n can_v present_o take_v all_o our_o corruption_n as_o soon_o as_o ever_o we_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n god_n can_v deliver_v we_o from_o our_o corruption_n but_o the_o lord_n will_v not_o he_o have_v many_o holy_a end_n why_o he_o do_v suffer_v his_o own_o people_n to_o be_v under_o this_o burden_n while_o they_o live_v here_o in_o the_o flesh_n as._n first_o that_o hereby_o he_o may_v show_v forth_o his_o own_o power_n the_o power_n of_o jesus_n christ_n be_v exceed_v magnify_v in_o this_o that_o it_o can_v uphold_v little_a spark_n of_o grace_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o a_o ocean_n of_o corruption_n that_o it_o can_v uphold_v poor_a weak_a creature_n under_o such_o burden_n and_o carry_v they_o on_o notwithstanding_o and_o bring_v they_o to_o eternal_a life_n the_o power_n and_o grace_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o power_n of_o god_n be_v as_o much_o manifest_v in_o this_o thing_n as_o it_o be_v in_o keep_v heaven_n
christ_n there_o be_v no_o return_n of_o any_o guilt_n if_o christ_n do_v undertake_v for_o they_o that_o come_v to_o he_o though_o christ_n do_v undertake_v for_o what_o be_v past_a and_o what_o be_v to_o come_v yet_o as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o malefactor_n though_o perhaps_o he_o have_v his_o pardon_n and_o be_v receive_v into_o favor_n yet_o he_o may_v think_v there_o be_v some_o alteration_n again_o but_o now_o the_o guilt_n that_o be_v upon_o thou_o shall_v never_o return_v upon_o thou_o again_o though_o a_o man_n have_v a_o pardon_n if_o he_o do_v not_o carry_v himself_o well_o the_o former_a gild_n return_v again_o but_o when_o once_o the_o soul_n be_v pardon_v the_o former_a gild_n never_o return_v again_o the_o lord_n will_v blot_v out_o all_o their_o sin_n and_o remember_v they_o no_o more_o as_o when_o you_o cast_v a_o thing_n out_o of_o your_o ship_n into_o the_o bottom_n of_o the_o sea_n you_o never_o look_v for_o it_o again_o so_o it_o be_v with_o god_n all_o your_o sin_n shall_v be_v cast_v into_o the_o bottom_n of_o the_o sea_n and_o shall_v be_v so_o far_o from_o you_o as_o the_o gild_n of_o they_o shall_v never_o come_v more_o to_o you_o when_o once_o you_o be_v come_v to_o christ_n ix_o nine_o there_o be_v not_o only_a deliverance_n from_o guiltiness_n our_o justification_n be_v not_o only_o privative_a but_o it_o be_v a_o clothing_n of_o the_o soul_n with_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n we_o have_v a_o perfect_a righteousness_n that_o be_v the_o great_a mediator_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n here_o be_v a_o righteousness_n that_o i_o be_o man_n and_o angel_n thou_o have_v now_o thy_o pardon_n but_o the_o great_a work_n of_o god_n at_o that_o day_n shall_v be_v the_o solemnity_n of_o the_o absolution_n and_o pardon_n of_o the_o saint_n that_o it_o be_v not_o any_o degree_n of_o trouble_n for_o sin_n how_o much_o soever_o one_o have_v be_v trouble_v for_o sin_n or_o how_o little_a soever_o that_o give_v they_o interest_n or_o not_o interest_n in_o christ_n i_o say_v it_o be_v not_o the_o measure_n of_o it_o for_o certain_o if_o we_o can_v come_v to_o christ_n without_o any_o burden_n or_o sense_n of_o our_o sin_n if_o it_o be_v possible_a that_o we_o can_v come_v to_o christ_n i_o say_v without_o any_o such_o be_v burden_v for_o sin_n we_o may_v but_o because_o that_o jesus_n christ_n do_v work_v upon_o the_o heart_n in_o a_o rational_a way_n as_o a_o rational_a creature_n although_o he_o do_v work_n above_o reason_n and_o convey_v supernatural_a grace_n that_o be_v beyond_o reason_n yet_o still_o he_o do_v work_n upon_o the_o heart_n as_o a_o rational_a creature_n now_o therefore_o the_o work_n of_o reason_n must_v be_v make_v subservient_fw-fr to_o the_o work_n of_o god_n grace_n usual_o when_o the_o lord_n work_v upon_o a_o soul_n he_o make_v use_v of_o the_o work_n of_o reason_n to_o make_v that_o subservient_fw-fr to_o the_o work_n of_o his_o grace_n now_o because_o no_o man_n can_v come_v to_o a_o saviour_n but_o he_o must_v know_v what_o need_n he_o have_v of_o a_o saviour_n therefore_o if_o i_o come_v to_o christ_n as_o a_o saviour_n to_o save_v my_o soul_n from_o sin_n i_o must_v apprehend_v what_o sin_n be_v that_o i_o may_v be_v sensible_a of_o it_o second_o if_o god_n do_v work_v upon_o the_o soul_n as_o a_o rational_a creature_n than_o he_o make_v use_v of_o this_o to_o be_v a_o mean_n to_o stop_v the_o soul_n in_o the_o course_n of_o sin_n for_o before_o the_o sinner_n be_v make_v sensible_a of_o the_o evil_a of_o his_o sin_n he_o go_v on_o in_o a_o full_a carear_n as_o it_o be_v and_o nothing_o will_v stop_v he_o in_o his_o course_n but_o now_o when_o the_o soul_n come_v to_o be_v thus_o burden_v the_o soul_n it_o stop_v and_o do_v not_o run_v in_o that_o full_a stream_n of_o wickedness_n as_o it_o do_v before_o and_o
the_o world_n sin_n be_v very_a light_n well_o know_v that_o as_o christ_n himself_o feel_v sin_n to_o be_v a_o heavy_a burden_n so_o one_o way_n or_o other_o they_o must_v feel_v it_o either_o here_o or_o hereafter_o but_o bless_v be_v that_o man_n or_o woman_n that_o feel_v the_o weight_n of_o sin_n while_o he_o may_v be_v deliver_v from_o it_o that_o he_o be_v not_o hereafter_o press_v under_o the_o weight_n of_o it_o we_o read_v of_o pharaoh_n when_o the_o people_n of_o israel_n come_v for_o ease_n he_o bid_v they_o go_v to_o their_o burden_n that_o that_o he_o do_v unjust_o christ_n may_v with_o their_o sin_n be_v those_o that_o christ_n do_v call_v to_o he_o we_o shall_v not_o think_v so_o hardly_o of_o those_o truth_n of_o god_n that_o do_v reveal_v the_o evil_n of_o sin_n unto_o we_o but_o rather_o let_v we_o join_v with_o those_o truth_n of_o god_n and_o labour_n to_o burden_v our_o own_o heart_n for_o you_o see_v that_o those_o that_o be_v burden_v christ_n call_v they_o to_o he_o that_o they_o may_v have_v rest_n there_o be_v no_o other_o burden_n that_o we_o be_v to_o bring_v upon_o ourselves_o but_o rather_o seek_v to_o avoid_v they_o but_o as_o for_o the_o burden_n of_o sin_n we_o be_v to_o burden_v our_o heart_n with_o that_o and_o to_o labour_v to_o lay_v our_o sin_n to_o our_o heart_n and_o to_o press_v they_o there_o and_o to_o charge_v they_o upon_o our_o own_o spirit_n with_o all_o the_o aggravation_n we_o can_v and_o to_o join_v with_o the_o work_n of_o god_n spirit_n when_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n come_v to_o lay_v sin_n upon_o the_o soul_n to_o join_v with_o it_o and_o to_o say_v lord_n i_o begin_v to_o be_v more_o sensible_a of_o my_o sin_n than_o i_o be_v before_o lord_n humble_v i_o through_o it_o let_v i_o be_v under_o thy_o hand_n as_o long_o as_o thou_o please_v only_o work_v thy_o good_a work_n upon_o i_o object_n but_o you_o will_v say_v we_o may_v sink_v under_o the_o burden_n of_o sin_n answ_n o_o no_o those_o that_o cast_v off_o the_o burden_n of_o sin_n they_o be_v most_o like_a to_o sink_v under_o it_o now_o can_v you_o think_v that_o the_o lord_n will_v suffer_v such_o a_o soul_n to_o sink_v under_o the_o burden_n that_o do_v burden_n itself_o that_o god_n may_v have_v glory_n but_o those_o that_o be_v unwilling_a and_o be_v force_v to_o be_v burden_v that_o never_o be_v sensible_a of_o the_o burden_n of_o sin_n till_o all_o the_o prop_n and_o comfort_n of_o the_o creature_n be_v take_v away_o upon_o their_o sick_a bed_n and_o death_n bed_n than_o man_n be_v burden_v with_o sin_n and_o why_o because_o the_o prop_n be_v take_v away_o before_o they_o have_v comfort_n and_o estate_n and_o such_o thing_n which_o be_v as_o so_o many_o prop_n but_o now_o god_n come_v and_o take_v the_o prop_n and_o down_o they_o fâ—l_v upon_o we_o that_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o many_o upon_o their_o death_n bed_n lie_v roâ—ring_v and_o cry_v out_o so_o bitter_o for_o their_o sin_n and_o why_o because_o the_o lord_n have_v cut_v asunder_o the_o prop_n and_o now_o it_o lie_v heavy_a upon_o their_o heart_n now_o christ_n call_v come_v to_o i_o you_o that_o be_v weary_a and_o heavy_a lade_v come_v to_o i_o say_v christ_n know_v that_o you_o be_v in_o a_o faâ—_n better_a condition_n than_o you_o be_v when_o you_o go_v on_o with_o delight_n in_o sin_n you_o be_v now_o in_o the_o way_n come_v to_o he_o that_o believe_v in_o he_o he_o say_v he_o will_v give_v they_o rest_n before_o i_o come_v to_o open_v this_o gracious_a promise_n which_o be_v exceed_o full_a of_o marrow_n and_o himself_o to_o we_o but_o it_o be_v our_o duty_n so_o to_o look_v upon_o he_o now_o when_o christ_n propound_v himself_o unto_o we_o as_o a_o object_n to_o draw_v our_o heart_n to_o he_o he_o do_v propound_v himself_o as_o one_o wherein_o our_o soul_n shall_v gain_v abundance_n of_o good_a one_o that_o we_o shall_v get_v much_o by_o now_o though_o it_o be_v true_a we_o shall_v labour_n to_o and_o that_o certain_o be_v the_o state_n of_o man_n by_o nature_n the_o scripture_n be_v as_o clear_v in_o this_o as_o in_o any_o one_o point_n of_o divinity_n that_o we_o be_v all_o by_o nature_n enemy_n to_o god_n and_o can_v thou_o be_v at_o quiet_a when_o thou_o be_v a_o enemy_n to_o god_n think_v with_o thyself_o it_o may_v be_v thou_o have_v sleep_v quiet_o live_v merry_o and_o eat_v than_o he_o be_v to_o trade_n as_o it_o be_v with_o that_o stock_n himself_o and_o to_o live_v by_o the_o stock_n that_o god_n give_v he_o at_o first_o only_o a_o general_a concourse_n of_o god_n providence_n there_o be_v so_o long_o as_o he_o do_v continue_v to_o obey_v god_n that_o god_n providence_n shall_v go_v along_o with_o he_o and_o uphold_v he_o in_o his_o estate_n and_o this_o be_v the_o estate_n of_o adam_n but_o now_o the_o holiness_n and_o righteousness_n that_o the_o saint_n have_v come_v from_o another_o principle_n it_o come_v not_o from_o god_n as_o creator_n mere_o but_o from_o god_n through_o a_o mediator_n from_o god_n through_o his_o son_n it_o come_v through_o christ_n and_o it_o be_v a_o partake_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n and_o of_o the_o father_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n in_o christ_n we_o do_v not_o read_v of_o such_o a_o kind_n of_o work_n in_o adam_n only_o the_o text_n faith_n the_o lord_n make_v he_o according_a to_o his_o own_o image_n but_o that_o he_o shall_v have_v his_o holiness_n through_o union_n of_o the_o second_o person_n in_o trinity_n and_o through_o the_o spirit_n that_o be_v send_v into_o he_o by_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n and_o to_o be_v make_v a_o temple_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n we_o read_v not_o he_o have_v the_o principle_n of_o holiness_n to_o be_v in_o himself_o but_o we_o have_v our_o principle_n of_o holiness_n in_o christ_n still_o we_o be_v not_o trust_v with_o our_o holiness_n though_o holiness_n be_v convey_v to_o believer_n yet_o they_o be_v not_o be_v trust_v with_o the_o principle_n of_o their_o holiness_n but_o it_o be_v in_o christ_n still_o but_o adam_n be_v not_o so_o adam_z so_o long_o as_o he_o stand_v god_n will_v go_v on_o with_o a_o concourse_n of_o his_o providence_n with_o he_o but_o god_n never_o make_v such_o a_o covenant_n with_o adam_n that_o he_o shall_v have_v a_o principle_n of_o holiness_n lay_v up_o in_o his_o son_n and_o that_o by_o faith_n he_o shall_v fetch_v out_o this_o principle_n of_o holiness_n i_o will_v show_v you_o the_o difference_n between_o the_o state_n of_o adam_n and_o a_o believer_n by_o this_o similitude_n a_o father_n put_v a_o stock_n into_o his_o son_n hand_n but_o so_o as_o he_o tell_v he_o here_o be_v your_o portion_n i_o will_v give_v you_o your_o portion_n go_v and_o trade_n with_o it_o aswell_o as_o you_o can_v but_o you_o be_v never_o like_a to_o have_v any_o further_a from_o i_o but_o only_o what_o you_o get_v by_o this_o stock_n this_o be_v the_o state_n of_o adam_n god_n give_v adam_n a_o stock_n of_o holiness_n a_o stock_n of_o righteousness_n at_o first_o and_o bid_v adam_n trade_n with_o it_o and_o that_o that_o he_o shall_v have_v to_o live_v upon_o shall_v be_v that_o that_o he_o get_v by_o that_o stock_n and_o that_o be_v al._n but_o now_o it_o be_v true_a we_o have_v all_o lose_v that_o stock_n and_o turn_v bankrupt_a now_o god_n be_v please_v to_o set_v up_o some_o of_o mankind_n again_o there_o be_v other_o that_o must_v perish_v eternal_o and_o be_v cast_v into_o prison_n and_o there_o rot_v in_o prison_n eternal_o but_o to_o some_o god_n be_v please_v to_o give_v another_o stock_n yet_o so_o that_o he_o will_v not_o trust_v they_o with_o it_o whole_o but_o thus_o he_o give_v they_o grace_n and_o bid_v they_o go_v and_o trade_n with_o it_o but_o so_o as_o he_o give_v they_o it_o by_o little_a and_o little_a and_o reserve_v the_o main_a stock_n in_o his_o son_n hand_n and_o say_v go_v and_o trade_n with_o this_o and_o as_o you_o want_v come_v to_o christ_n if_o you_o have_v any_o loss_n in_o your_o trade_n come_v to_o my_o son_n and_o you_o shall_v have_v it_o make_v up_o again_o you_o must_v give_v account_n to_o my_o son_n every_o day_n and_o now_o one_o that_o be_v set_v up_o and_o have_v a_o little_a stock_n but_o so_o that_o he_o must_v give_v account_n to_o his_o father_n every_o day_n and_o then_o he_o be_v faithful_a though_o he_o have_v loss_n great_a a_o stock_n as_o adam_n but_o our_o stock_n be_v better_a for_o together_o with_o our_o stock_n of_o holiness_n we_o have_v a_o supply_n from_o jesus_n christ_n and_o that_o we_o have_v shall_v be_v take_v care_n of_o by_o he_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o loose_v what_o we_o have_v and_o if_o there_o be_v the_o least_o impair_n of_o what_o we_o have_v he_o will_v make_v it_o up_o again_o so_o that_o our_o holiness_n come_v now_o from_o another_o stock_n be_v uphold_v by_o another_o principle_n then_o then_o ever_o adam_n be_v and_o this_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o the_o this_o morality_n we_o hear_v minister_n speak_v of_o moral_a man_n such_o a_o one_o be_v a_o good_a moral_a man_n or_o such_o a_o one_o be_v a_o civil_a man_n what_o will_v they_o have_v more_o will_v they_o not_o have_v man_n civil_a do_v they_o not_o live_v inoffensive_o pay_v every_o one_o their_o own_o they_o do_v no_o wrong_n they_o come_v to_o church_n and_o serve_v god_n what_o will_v they_o have_v more_o and_o yet_o we_o hear_v minister_n say_v this_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o be_v civil_a and_o not_o to_o live_v in_o scandalous_a sin_n as_o other_o do_v this_o be_v not_o enough_o now_o it_o be_v true_a this_o be_v not_o enough_o and_o by_o that_o which_o you_o have_v hear_v out_o of_o this_o point_n you_o may_v discern_v that_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o and_o that_o there_o be_v more_o require_v then_o so_o and_o by_o this_o you_o may_v know_v the_o difference_n between_o your_o civil_a and_o moral_a man_n and_o those_o
if_o it_o be_v but_o the_o exercise_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o faith_n that_o thou_o be_v put_v upon_o in_o thy_o affliction_n there_o may_v be_v more_o good_a to_o thou_o in_o that_o then_o thou_o thing_n if_o they_o be_v make_v good_a to_o the_o soul_n they_o may_v give_v rest_n but_o now_o all_o that_o i_o intend_v to_o show_v shall_v be_v what_o course_n the_o laden_a sinner_n must_v take_v in_o this_o case_n to_o have_v rest_n in_o christ_n for_o the_o soul_n it_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n and_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n though_o it_o can_v apprehend_v the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o the_o pardon_n of_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n yet_o it_o have_v it_o already_o but_o now_o to_o help_v such_o a_o desert_a soul_n in_o this_o case_n that_o it_o may_v begin_v to_o have_v the_o use_n of_o the_o good_a that_o there_o be_v to_o be_v have_v in_o christ_n therefore_o by_o way_n of_o direction_n to_o have_v ease_n in_o that_o grievous_a condition_n first_o labour_n to_o exercise_v thy_o faith_n upon_o christ_n as_o one_o that_o be_v once_o in_o the_o same_o condition_n in_o some_o degree_n and_o some_o measure_n as_o thou_o thyself_o art_n in_o that_o be_v a_o good_a way_n for_o one_o that_o have_v spiritual_a desertion_n i_o say_v to_o look_v upon_o christ_n as_o one_o that_o for_o the_o present_a be_v in_o this_o affliction_n for_o christ_n be_v desert_v and_o this_o breed_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o rest_n to_o the_o soul_n in_o outward_a affliction_n if_o one_o that_o be_v in_o poverty_n exercise_v faith_n upon_o christ_n who_o be_v poor_a as_o i_o tell_v you_o before_o the_o fox_n have_v hole_n and_o the_o bird_n have_v nest_n but_o the_o son_n of_o man_n have_v not_o where_o to_o lay_v his_o head_n to_o exercise_v faith_n upon_o christ_n as_o poor_a do_v help_v to_o give_v ease_n and_o rest_n unto_o the_o soul_n under_o the_o burden_n of_o the_o affliction_n of_o poverty_n so_o when_o a_o soul_n feel_v the_o burden_n and_o trouble_v of_o spiritual_a desertion_n the_o soul_n shall_v look_v up_o to_o christ_n as_o one_o that_o be_v under_o such_o desertion_n as_o when_o he_o be_v in_o the_o garden_n and_o profess_v that_o his_o soul_n be_v heavy_a to_o the_o very_a death_n and_o that_o he_o begin_v to_o be_v amaze_v with_o the_o apprehension_n of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n now_o when_o thou_o be_v in_o a_o combat_n and_o strife_n in_o thy_o spirit_n with_o temptation_n know_v that_o christ_n be_v in_o such_o a_o combat_n and_o strife_n he_o sweat_v drop_n of_o blood_n it_o may_v be_v the_o soul_n be_v in_o combat_n and_o in_o trouble_n and_o get_v to_o prayer_n and_o the_o soul_n be_v in_o a_o sweat_n remember_v what_o a_o sweat_n christ_n be_v in_o when_o god_n withdraw_v himself_o from_o he_o and_o especial_o when_o he_o be_v upon_o the_o cross_n there_o he_o tell_v you_o plain_o that_o he_o be_v forsake_v my_o god_n my_o god_n why_o have_v thou_o forsake_v i_o thou_o think_v that_o god_n have_v withdraw_v himself_o from_o thou_o no_o he_o will_v not_o withdraw_v himself_o from_o
thou_o so_o much_o as_o from_o his_o son_n in_o one_o regard_n that_o be_v thou_o have_v not_o such_o a_o dreadful_a apprehension_n of_o god_n withdraw_v from_o thou_o as_o christ_n have_v for_o christ_n will_v never_o have_v cry_v out_o else_o my_o god_n my_o god_n why_o have_v thou_o forsake_v i_o this_o be_v a_o real_a thing_n christ_n do_v not_o speak_v at_o uncertainty_n he_o do_v feel_v a_o withdraw_n of_o the_o influence_n sweetness_n and_o comfort_n of_o the_o lord_n though_o still_o he_o have_v union_n with_o he_o by_o nature_n and_o he_o be_v his_o father_n as_o before_o but_o the_o human_a nature_n do_v not_o feel_v the_o influence_n of_o the_o grace_n and_o sweetness_n and_o the_o shine_n of_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n as_o at_o other_o time_n and_o therefore_o he_o cry_v out_o my_o god_n my_o god_n why_o have_v thou_o forsake_v i_o exercise_v thy_o faith_n upon_o christ_n as_o one_o that_o be_v in_o spiritual_a desertion_n it_o be_v true_a perhaps_o that_o christ_n do_v not_o come_v to_o determine_v himself_o that_o he_o be_v utter_o forsake_v as_o thou_o do_v but_o christ_n be_v apprehensive_a of_o god_n withdraw_v himself_o and_o therefore_o this_o may_v not_o be_v a_o curse_n to_o thou_o three_o it_o be_v that_o thou_o may_v not_o be_v eternal_o forsake_v by_o god_n so_o that_o by_o exercise_v of_o thy_o faith_n thus_o upon_o he_o thou_o may_v get_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o rest_n and_o ease_n unto_o thy_o soul_n a_o carnal_a heart_n when_o he_o find_v this_o terror_n of_o spirit_n he_o run_v to_o his_o company_n music_n good_a cheer_n and_o business_n of_o the_o world_n but_o a_o gracious_a heart_n run_v to_o christ_n and_o go_v to_o he_o that_o be_v thus_o forsake_v of_o the_o lord_n for_o he_o second_o if_o thou_o be_v under_o the_o burden_n of_o spiritual_a desertion_n then_o look_v up_o to_o christ_n as_o be_v such_o a_o mediator_n as_o be_v full_a of_o grace_n and_o goodness_n there_o be_v such_o a_o fullness_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o he_o as_o make_v he_o a_o sufficient_a object_n for_o the_o faith_n of_o adherence_n when_o he_o can_v be_v unto_o i_o a_o object_n of_o the_o faith_n of_o evidence_n i_o say_v we_o be_v to_o exercise_v faith_n upon_o christ_n when_o we_o be_v under_o this_o burden_n of_o spiritual_a desertion_n thus_o we_o be_v to_o look_v upon_o christ_n as_o be_v the_o fullness_n of_o the_o godhead_n of_o all_o the_o treasure_n of_o grace_n and_o goodness_n have_v so_o much_o of_o the_o grace_n and_o mercy_n of_o god_n in_o he_o as_o shall_v make_v he_o a_o fit_a object_n of_o the_o faith_n of_o adherence_n though_o he_o be_v not_o now_o to_o i_o a_o object_n of_o the_o faith_n of_o evidence_n quest_n you_o will_v say_v what_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o that_o i_o mean_v will_v cleave_v and_o cling_v here_o now_o be_v the_o faith_n of_o adherence_n now_o because_o there_o be_v so_o much_o grace_n in_o it_o therefore_o christ_n may_v be_v a_o great_a object_n of_o thy_o faith_n of_o adherence_n when_o thou_o can_v not_o see_v he_o to_o be_v a_o object_n of_o the_o faith_n of_o evidence_n and_o that_o be_v a_o way_n to_o help_v the_o soul_n in_o time_n of_o spiritual_a desertion_n when_o many_o poor_a soul_n be_v under_o spiritual_a affliction_n and_o desertion_n they_o think_v of_o no_o other_o faith_n to_o rest_v upon_o christ_n but_o bare_o upon_o the_o faith_n of_o evidence_n and_o when_o they_o have_v evidence_n to_o their_o soul_n that_o christ_n be_v they_o and_o that_o from_o some_o fruit_n of_o grace_n in_o they_o than_o they_o rely_v upon_o he_o but_o now_o learn_v that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o faith_n the_o faith_n of_o adherence_n and_o christ_n may_v appear_v to_o a_o soul_n as_o a_o fit_a object_n to_o the_o soul_n for_o the_o faith_n of_o adherence_n when_o he_o can_v be_v to_o it_o a_o object_n of_o the_o faith_n of_o evidence_n three_o another_o help_n to_o the_o soul_n that_o be_v under_o spiritual_a desertion_n be_v this_o the_o soul_n in_o this_o case_n be_v to_o exercise_v faith_n upon_o christ_n as_o a_o advocate_n that_o be_v at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o the_o father_n to_o plead_v the_o cause_n of_o his_o people_n that_o scripture_n you_o have_v often_o name_v to_o you_o in_o 1_o john_n 2.1_o if_o any_o man_n sin_n we_o have_v a_o advocate_n with_o the_o father_n christ_n be_v at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o the_o father_n as_o a_o advocate_n for_o you_o as_o we_o show_v when_o we_o speak_v of_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o soul_n from_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n so_o now_o when_o thou_o have_v with_o a_o great_a deal_n less_o trouble_n and_o it_o will_v not_o be_v so_o much_o prejudice_n to_o he_o to_o have_v a_o new_a key_n make_v as_o to_o look_v the_o old_a one_o he_o may_v look_v up_o
