for_o this_o christian_a foresight_n here_o speak_v of_o it_o be_v thas_o which_o few_o be_v acquaint_v withal_o or_o which_o care_n to_o be_v acquaint_v it_o be_v our_o wisdom_n to_o regard_v it_o doom_n and_o sentence_n which_o be_v pass_v upon_o all_o such_o person_n as_o we_o have_v hitherto_o describe_v yet_o not_o only_o upon_o person_n consider_v distinct_o but_o upon_o whole_a nation_n consider_v joint_o that_o be_v wicked_a and_o forgetful_a of_o god_n they_o shall_v be_v turn_v into_o hell_n that_o be_v both_o for_o ever_o be_v deprive_v of_o god_n glorious_a and_o beatifical_a they_o for_o it_o in_o their_o universal_a overthrow_n and_o ruin_n and_o destruction_n and_o so_o he_o be_v ready_a to_o do_v with_o many_o more_o in_o the_o like_a circumstance_n who_o will_v not_o fear_v thou_o o_o king_n of_o nation_n as_o it_o be_v in_o jer._n 10.7_o what_o cause_n have_v all_o the_o people_n and_o kingdom_n of_o the_o earth_n to_o tremble_v before_o this_o great_a god_n who_o be_v able_a thus_o to_o crush_v they_o in_o piece_n and_o to_o destroy_v they_o even_o in_o hell_n itself_o if_o they_o provoke_v he_o as_o he_o here_o threaten_v they_o we_o shall_v here_o learn_v to_o satisfy_v ourselves_o in_o this_o great_a mystery_n both_o of_o prudence_n and_o religion_n it_o seem_v to_o be_v a_o strange_a thing_n to_o reason_n that_o god_n shall_v damn_v whole_a nation_n and_o therefore_o such_o person_n as_o make_v reason_n to_o be_v the_o rule_n of_o faith_n they_o do_v much_o doubt_n of_o it_o and_o call_v it_o into_o question_n for_o which_o purpose_n they_o have_v find_v out_o salvation_n even_o for_o the_o heathen_a that_o know_v not_o god_n nor_o ever_o hear_v word_n of_o christ_n but_o we_o see_v here_o how_o the_o scripture_n itself_o express_v itself_o in_o this_o particular_a whereby_o it_o tell_v we_o that_o whole_a nation_n shall_v be_v turn_v into_o hell_n that_o so_o we_o may_v not_o be_v wise_a or_o mercifull_a than_o god_n himself_o but_o submit_v our_o own_o reason_n and_o the_o dictate_v of_o our_o own_o understanding_n to_o his_o discovery_n and_o proposal_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n bless_v god_n ourselves_o if_o he_o have_v exempt_v we_o out_o of_o the_o number_n of_o those_o nation_n which_o shall_v be_v thus_o deal_v withal_o by_o a_o more_o peculiar_a manifestation_n and_o dispensation_n of_o himself_o unto_o we_o thus_o for_o the_o subject_n here_o mention_v in_o reference_n to_o this_o punishment_n all_o the_o nation_n the_o second_o be_v the_o guilt_n which_o be_v fustn_v upon_o those_o subject_n as_o the_o ground_n and_o foundation_n of_o this_o punishment_n and_o that_o be_v forget_v of_o god_n this_o now_o do_v a_o little_a qualify_v it_o and_o restrain_v it_o and_o take_v it_o in_o it_o be_v not_o all_o nation_n absolute_o and_o indefinite_o and_o without_o exception_n howsoever_o qualify_v but_o under_o this_o notion_n of_o impiety_n god_n do_v not_o in_o this_o case_n proceed_v in_o a_o way_n of_o sovereignty_n but_o in_o a_o way_n of_o justice_n it_o be_v true_a he_o may_v if_o he_o please_v do_v the_o former_a forasmuch_o as_o all_o the_o nation_n of_o the_o world_n they_o be_v his_o own_o creature_n and_o the_o workmanship_n of_o his_o own_o hand_n therefore_o if_o he_o see_v good_a he_o may_v deal_v with_o they_o as_o the_o potter_n with_o his_o vessel_n and_o no_o man_n may_v say_v unto_o they_o what_o do_v thou_o but_o he_o have_v think_v fit_v to_o take_v another_o course_n than_o this_o with_o they_o and_o that_o be_v by_o proceed_v first_o to_o the_o essence_n of_o god_n they_o forget_v god_n that_o be_v they_o forget_v that_o there_o be_v a_o god_n they_o have_v hear_v of_o it_o it_o may_v be_v and_o have_v see_v habitual_a notion_n of_o it_o yea_o but_o in_o such_o and_o such_o case_n and_o circumstance_n they_o do_v it_o or_o reflect_v upon_o it_o they_o do_v not_o actual_o mind_n or_o consider_v it_o which_o make_v they_o so_o to_o carry_v it_o as_o if_o indeed_o they_o do_v not_o believe_v it_o second_o to_o the_o nature_n of_o god_n they_o forget_v god_n that_o be_v they_o forget_v who_o or_o what_o manner_n of_o one_o god_n be_v they_o forget_v he_o in_o his_o property_n and_o attribute_n and_o such_o expression_n of_o he_o as_o whereby_o he_o have_v reveal_v and_o make_v himself_o know_v in_o his_o holiness_n and_o justice_n and_o power_n and_o omniscience_n and_o omnipresence_n and_o the_o like_a in_o these_o they_o do_v not_o remember_v he_o but_o plain_o forget_v he_o wicked_a man_n they_o which_o be_v a_o very_a sad_a case_n to_o be_v so_o thus_o do_v they_o desire_v the_o day_n of_o the_o lord_n without_o understand_v either_o the_o day_n of_o death_n or_o general_a or_o particular_a judgement_n again_o further_o take_v this_o day_n of_o the_o lord_n in_o the_o other_o sense_n for_o the_o day_n of_o captivity_n and_o national_a desolation_n as_o it_o may_v be_v also_o take_v and_o so_o there_o be_v a_o woe_n likewise_o belong_v to_o those_o which_o do_v desire_v it_o or_o at_o least_o which_o so_o carry_v themselves_o as_o if_o they_o be_v little_o affect_v with_o it_o thus_o it_o be_v with_o some_o of_o the_o jew_n at_o this_o present_a time_n they_o be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v humble_v under_o the_o prediction_n and_o prognostication_n of_o this_o condition_n which_o be_v threaten_v to_o they_o as_o that_o they_o be_v in_o a_o manner_n at_o a_o point_n about_o it_o and_o do_v in_o some_o sort_n wish_v for_o it_o so_o it_o happen_v to_o be_v sometime_o with_o divers_a other_o of_o the_o like_a temper_n and_o disposition_n with_o they_o they_o do_v sometime_o according_a to_o the_o discontent_n which_o may_v be_v upon_o they_o wish_v for_o war_n and_o wish_v for_o calamity_n and_o wish_v for_o confusion_n itself_o as_o conceive_v that_o such_o extremity_n may_v be_v some_o kind_n of_o help_n and_o relief_n unto_o they_o but_o alas_o they_o do_v not_o know_v what_o they_o wish_v for_o in_o so_o wish_v such_o desire_n as_o these_o be_v rash_a and_o unadvised_a in_o they_o and_o have_v a_o woe_n attend_v upon_o they_o as_o it_o be_v here_o express_v it_o be_v not_o safe_a to_o give_v way_n but_o to_o the_o first_o beginning_n and_o enter_v of_o judgement_n because_o we_o know_v not_o where_o they_o will_v stop_v or_o stay_v when_o we_o once_o die_v i_o have_v not_o desire_v the_o woeful_a day_n thou_o know_v it_o as_o jeremy_n speak_v in_o another_o case_n so_o it_o concern_v all_o person_n in_o this_o case_n to_o be_v able_a to_o say_v in_o this_o particular_a woe_n unto_o you_o that_o desire_v the_o day_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o be_v that_o desire_v it_o rash_o or_o foolish_o because_o you_o do_v not_o consider_v it_o or_o attend_v to_o the_o circumstance_n of_o it_o that_o be_v the_o first_o explication_n second_o woe_n unto_o you_o that_o desire_v the_o day_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o be_v that_o desire_v it_o scoff_o and_o scornful_o because_o you_o do_v not_o believe_v it_o this_o be_v another_o sense_n which_o may_v be_v found_v upon_o this_o expression_n desire_v it_o in_o their_o mouth_n but_o not_o in_o their_o heart_n and_o so_o desire_v that_o it_o may_v come_v as_o yet_o think_v it_o will_v not_o come_v and_o therefore_o mock_v at_o the_o come_n of_o it_o such_o person_n as_o these_o there_o be_v also_o sometime_o in_o the_o world_n the_o prophet_n esay_n make_v mention_n of_o they_o to_o we_o isa_n 5.19_o they_o say_v let_v he_o make_v speed_n and_o hasten_v his_o work_n that_o we_o may_v see_v it_o and_o let_v the_o counsel_n of_o the_o holy_a one_o of_o israel_n draw_v nigh_o and_o come_v that_o we_o may_v know_v it_o therefore_o as_o they_o laugh_v at_o the_o day_n of_o the_o lord_n so_o according_o they_o laugh_v at_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o his_o message_n concern_v that_o day_n as_o the_o prophet_n jeremy_n have_v it_o in_o jer._n 17.15_o behold_v they_o say_v unto_o i_o where_o be_v the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n let_v it_o come_v now_o that_o be_v where_o be_v that_o which_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n have_v so_o much_o threaten_v and_o speak_v of_o as_o that_o which_o shall_v come_v to_o pass_v not_o only_o scoff_v at_o judgement_n itself_o but_o likewise_o at_o all_o the_o fore-running_n and_o monition_n of_o it_o this_o be_v a_o high_a piece_n of_o wickedness_n and_o impiety_n indeed_o yet_o such_o as_o the_o son_n of_o man_n be_v now_o and_o then_o subject_a unto_o where_o they_o have_v not_o so_o much_o grace_n as_o to_o avoid_v judgement_n they_o have_v at_o least_o so_o much_o vileness_n as_o to_o despise_v it_o and_o to_o make_v a_o mock_n and_o derision_n of_o it_o and_o of_o those_o that_o proclaim_v it_o they_o desire_v it_o
in_o reference_n thereunto_o if_o we_o speak_v of_o the_o person_n themselves_o they_o be_v not_o always_o such_o as_o in_o every_o thing_n can_v be_v approve_v of_o we_o be_v man_n subject_a to_o the_o like_a infirmity_n and_o affection_n with_o other_o man_n though_o it_o will_v very_o much_o become_v we_o to_o have_v as_o few_o of_o they_o as_o needs_o must_v and_o a_o great_a deal_n few_o of_o they_o than_o any_o other_o beside_o yet_o notwithstanding_o so_o it_o be_v with_o we_o through_o the_o corruption_n of_o nature_n which_o be_v in_o we_o we_o have_v our_o fault_n as_o well_o as_o you_o and_o it_o may_v be_v sometime_o the_o more_o for_o your_o sake_n if_o you_o be_v that_o which_o you_o shall_v be_v we_o shall_v be_v better_o than_o we_o be_v god_n may_v perhaps_o humble_v we_o now_o and_o then_o for_o your_o defect_n but_o that_o be_v not_o that_o which_o we_o stand_v upon_o now_o in_o this_o point_n it_o be_v not_o the_o person_n so_o much_o as_o the_o office_n which_o i_o now_o plead_v for_o the_o calling_z and_o profession_n itself_o though_o that_o also_o subject_v and_o terminate_v in_o such_o and_o such_o person_n as_o it_o be_v here_o in_o the_o person_n of_o st._n paul_n and_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o minister_n this_o it_o be_v make_v manifest_a in_o their_o conscice_n at_o least_o of_o those_o which_o be_v godly_a and_o gracioso_n among_o they_o and_o so_o likewise_o will_v be_v to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n as_o long_o as_o there_o be_v any_o which_o have_v any_o save_a work_n in_o their_o heart_n their_o ministry_n shall_v be_v sure_a to_o find_v acceptance_n and_o approbation_n notwithstanding_o all_o opposition_n and_o so_o much_o of_o the_o first_o particular_a viz._n the_o thing_n itself_o which_o be_v assert_v we_o be_v make_v manifest_a in_o you_o etc._n etc._n the_o second_o be_v the_o word_n of_o transition_n or_o introduction_n i_o trust_v or_o hope_n we_o may_v take_v notice_n also_o of_o this_o and_o it_o carry_v a_o double_a notion_n in_o it_o first_o of_o endeavour_n and_o desire_n and_o second_o of_o confidence_n and_o expectation_n it_o be_v that_o which_o he_o wish_v it_o may_v be_v and_o it_o be_v that_o which_o he_o be_v persuade_v it_o be_v first_o there_o be_v his_o desire_n in_o it_o as_o he_o wish_v it_o may_v be_v he_o desire_v to_o approve_v his_o ministry_n and_o himself_o in_o the_o execution_n of_o his_o ministry_n to_o the_o heart_n and_o conscience_n of_o those_o which_o be_v faithful_a that_o they_o may_v be_v sure_a to_o close_v with_o he_o this_o shall_v likewise_o be_v the_o desire_n and_o ambition_n of_o all_o other_o beside_o to_o be_v make_v manifest_a in_o the_o conscience_n of_o those_o which_o be_v the_o people_n of_o god_n whether_o in_o regard_n of_o their_o doctrine_n or_o their_o life_n to_o deliver_v such_o truth_n as_o be_v make_v good_a in_o their_o experience_n and_o to_o lead_v such_o life_n as_o be_v suitable_a and_o agreeable_a to_o their_o principle_n and_o the_o practice_n of_o they_o those_o man_n that_o walk_v not_o in_o the_o way_n of_o good_a man_n they_o may_v well_o think_v they_o step_v aside_o and_o so_o be_v opposite_a to_o our_o doctrine_n those_o point_n and_o doctrine_n in_o divinity_n be_v very_o questionable_a and_o suspicious_a and_o do_v expose_v the_o teacher_n of_o they_o to_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o just_a censure_n and_o exception_n which_o do_v thwart_v and_o cross_v and_o contradict_v the_o common_a sense_n and_o feeling_n and_o experiment_n of_o those_o which_o be_v most_o godly_a and_o religious_a and_o have_v the_o work_n of_o save_a grace_n in_o their_o heart_n such_o be_v those_o point_n in_o particular_a of_o freewill_n of_o universal_a redemption_n of_o uncertainty_n of_o salvation_n the_o resistibility_n of_o conversion_n of_o fall_v from_o grace_n of_o conditional_a election_n and_o the_o like_a they_o be_v such_o as_o do_v not_o only_o swerve_v from_o the_o plain_a doctrine_n of_o the_o scripture_n but_o likewise_o do_v very_o much_o fall_v short_a of_o the_o experience_n of_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n who_o need_v no_o other_o argument_n against_o they_o than_o what_o they_o find_v in_o their_o own_o heart_n and_o conscience_n as_o fight_v with_o they_o so_o those_o which_o be_v the_o teacher_n of_o they_o as_o therein_o they_o be_v not_o manifest_a to_o god_n so_o neither_o be_v they_o manifest_v in_o the_o conscience_n of_o godly_a man_n which_o it_o will_v well_o become_v they_o to_o be_v for_o their_o own_o great_a satisfaction_n as_o well_o as_o other_o and_o which_o st._n paul_n here_o seem_v so_o to_o desire_v second_o as_o there_o be_v his_o desire_n in_o it_o so_o there_o be_v also_o his_o confidence_n and_o expectation_n i_o hope_v or_o trust_v that_o be_v i_o believe_v and_o make_v account_n of_o it_o it_o be_v a_o word_n of_o triumphant_a expression_n as_o you_o have_v another_o of_o the_o like_a nature_n with_o it_o 1_o cor._n 7.6_o i_o think_v also_o etc._n etc._n the_o apostle_n be_v persuade_v of_o it_o that_o so_o it_o be_v with_o he_o that_o he_o be_v make_v manifest_a in_o their_o conscience_n and_o this_o again_o he_o be_v upon_o a_o double_a motive_n or_o consideration_n first_o from_o his_o own_o integrity_n and_o second_o from_o their_o ingenuity_n he_o know_v that_o himself_o do_v deserve_v and_o he_o know_v likewise_o that_o they_o be_v of_o themselves_o ready_a to_o embrace_v it_o first_o i_o say_v he_o know_v his_o own_o integrity_n that_o himself_o do_v deserve_v it_o the_o best_a way_n for_o any_o one_o to_o expect_v to_o be_v make_v manifest_a to_o other_o be_v first_o to_o be_v make_v manifest_a to_o himself_o and_o that_o he_o may_v be_v approve_v of_o in_o other_o conscience_n to_o be_v approve_v of_o first_o in_o his_o own_o they_o who_o be_v own_o heart_n condemn_v and_o upon_o a_o just_a examination_n of_o they_o do_v bear_v witness_n against_o they_o they_o may_v be_v very_o well_o afraid_a of_o other_o and_o think_v that_o they_o will_v not_o have_v that_o opinion_n of_o they_o as_o perhaps_o they_o can_v desire_v they_o may_v have_v second_o as_o the_o apostle_n conclude_v it_o from_o his_o own_o integrity_n so_o likewise_o from_o the_o ingenuity_n of_o the_o person_n which_o he_o have_v to_o deal_v withal_o if_o a_o man_n be_v never_o so_o upright_a and_o sincere_a in_o his_o own_o heart_n and_o never_o so_o careful_a to_o approve_v what_o he_o do_v to_o his_o own_o conscience_n yet_o if_o he_o be_v to_o deal_v with_o captious_a person_n and_o those_o which_o have_v a_o mind_n to_o wrangle_v and_o contest_v and_o pick_v a_o quarrel_n with_o he_o he_o shall_v never_o approve_v himself_o to_o those_o for_o all_o this_o but_o these_o corinthian_n be_v not_o so_o especial_o those_o which_o be_v the_o grave_a and_o godly_a among_o they_o which_o the_o apostle_n do_v here_o principal_o intend_v these_o they_o have_v other_o kind_n of_o mind_n and_o disposition_n in_o they_o which_o be_v that_o which_o make_v he_o to_o be_v so_o confident_a and_o persuade_v of_o they_o i_o trust_v we_o be_v make_v manifest_a in_o your_o conscience_n there_o be_v a_o emphasis_n in_o both_o of_o the_o word_n whether_o in_o conscience_n or_o in_o you_o and_o according_o we_o may_v take_v notice_n of_o it_o to_o your_o conscience_n not_o to_o your_o fancy_n to_o your_o conscience_n not_o to_o your_o humour_n to_o your_o conscience_n not_o to_o your_o lust_n and_o then_o to_o your_o conscience_n not_o to_o the_o conscience_n of_o stranger_n to_o religion_n to_o your_o conscience_n not_o to_o the_o conscience_n of_o enemy_n to_o religion_n to_o your_o conscience_n not_o to_o the_o conscience_n of_o the_o false_a teacher_n and_o false_a apostle_n among_o you_o which_o labour_v all_o they_o can_v to_o pervert_v and_o entice_v and_o corrupt_v you_o in_o your_o conscience_n we_o be_v make_v manifest_a and_o desire_n and_o rejoice_v so_o to_o be_v so_o much_o also_o for_o the_o second_o general_n sermon_n xxxiv_o 2_o cor._n 1.10_o who_o deliver_v we_o from_o so_o great_a a_o death_n and_o do_v deliver_v in_o who_o we_o trust_v that_o he_o will_v yet_o deliver_v we_o there_o be_v two_o grace_n especial_o which_o do_v serve_v very_o much_o to_o amplify_v and_o enlarge_v god_n mercy_n towards_o we_o the_o one_o be_v the_o grace_n of_o thankfulness_n and_o spiritual_a joy_n and_o the_o other_o be_v the_o grace_n of_o faith_n and_o spiritual_a trust_n joy_n that_o enlarge_v they_o to_o other_o and_o disperse_v and_o scatter_v they_o abroad_o to_o those_o person_n with_o who_o we_o converse_v and_o faith_n that_o enlarge_v they_o to_o ourselves_o and_o make_v they_o so_o much_o the_o great_a to_o our_o own_o mind_n and_o expectation_n now_o each_o of_o these_o we_o may_v here_o take_v notice_n of_o in_o
the_o course_n of_o this_o present_a text_n and_o scripture_n which_o we_o have_v now_o read_v unto_o you_o where_o the_o apostle_n give_v we_o a_o account_n of_o the_o deliverance_n of_o he_o with_o his_o company_n from_o a_o great_a danger_n which_o happen_v unto_o they_o and_o therein_o express_v his_o thankfulness_n and_o holy_a rejoice_n as_o also_o give_v we_o a_o hint_n of_o expectation_n of_o further_a deliverance_n from_o the_o like_a danger_n that_o may_v happen_v unto_o they_o and_o therein_o express_v his_o hope_n and_o most_o holy_a faith_n who_o deliver_v we_o from_o so_o great_a a_o death_n and_o do_v deliver_v in_o who_o we_o trust_v also_o etc._n etc._n this_o passage_n it_o relate_v to_o a_o story_n which_o we_o meet_v withal_o in_o act._n 19.29_o 30._o which_o we_o may_v read_v at_o our_o leisure_n though_o i_o suppose_v that_o most_o of_o we_o be_v already_o sufficient_o skill_v in_o it_o and_o acquaint_v with_o it_o so_o that_o i_o need_v not_o now_o rehearse_v it_o or_o declare_v it_o unto_o you_o in_o this_o present_a verse_n before_o we_o we_o have_v three_o general_n part_v considerable_a of_o we_o first_o the_o commemoration_n of_o a_o deliverance_n past_a second_o the_o signification_n of_o a_o deliverance_n present_a three_o the_o prognostication_n of_o a_o deliverance_n to_o come_v the_o commemoration_n of_o a_o deliverance_n past_a who_o deliver_v we_o from_o so_o great_a a_o death_n the_o signification_n of_o a_o deliverance_n present_a and_o do_v deliver_v we_o the_o prognostication_n of_o a_o deliverance_n to_o come_v in_o who_o we_o trust_v that_o he_o will_v yet_o deliver_v we_o here_o be_v all_o that_o we_o can_v possible_o desire_v for_o all_o the_o limit_n and_o period_n of_o time_n whether_o past_a or_o present_a or_o future_a this_o deliverance_n it_o be_v extend_v to_o each_o here_o be_v matter_n of_o thankfulness_n and_o matter_n of_o joy-fulness_n and_o matter_n of_o hope_n we_o begin_v in_o order_n with_o the_o first_o viz._n the_o commemoration_n of_o the_o deliverance_n past_a who_o deliver_v we_o from_o so_o great_a a_o death_n wherein_o again_o we_o may_v take_v notice_n of_o two_o particular_n more_o first_o the_o term_n of_o the_o deliverance_n or_o the_o evil_n itself_o deliver_v from_o and_o that_o be_v here_o express_v to_o be_v so_o great_a a_o death_n second_o the_o deliverance_n itself_o or_o the_o time_n for_o the_o vouchsafe_n of_o it_o who_o have_v deliver_v we_o first_o we_o have_v here_o the_o term_n of_o the_o deliverance_n or_o the_o thing_n deliver_v from_o so_o great_a a_o death_n for_o the_o evil_n itself_o death_n and_o for_o the_o aggravation_n of_o it_o a_o great_a death_n it_o be_v a_o deliverance_n from_o both_o chrysostom_n together_o with_o some_o other_o give_v it_o in_o the_o plural_a number_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d so_o great_a death_n and_o indeed_o there_o be_v more_o death_n than_o one_o which_o god_n do_v undertake_v to_o deliver_v his_o servant_n from_o and_o from_o which_o he_o deliver_v st._n paul_n with_o his_o brethren_n and_o companion_n among_o the_o rest_n and_o which_o it_o may_v not_o be_v amiss_o for_o ourselves_o at_o this_o time_n by_o the_o way_n to_o take_v notice_n of_o though_o i_o shall_v insist_v chief_o upon_o that_o which_o be_v here_o chief_o intend_v and_o be_v most_o agreeable_a both_o to_o the_o scope_n of_o the_o text_n and_o the_o present_a occasion_n first_o from_o spiritual_a death_n the_o death_n of_o sin_n that_o be_v a_o very_a great_a death_n it_o put_v a_o man_n into_o a_o state_n of_o death_n not_o only_o as_o expose_v to_o wrath_n and_o future_a condemnation_n but_o likewise_o as_o disable_n to_o the_o action_n of_o grace_n and_o holiness_n alienate_v we_o and_o deprive_v we_o of_o that_o life_n of_o god_n which_o shall_v be_v in_o we_o ephes_n 4.18_o for_o as_o there_o be_v a_o life_n of_o grace_n distinguish_v from_o the_o life_n of_o glory_n so_o there_o be_v likewise_o a_o death_n of_o sin_n distinguish_v from_o the_o death_n of_o condemnation_n and_o this_o death_n of_o sin_n it_o be_v such_o as_o be_v to_o be_v number_v among_o great_a death_n and_o the_o deliverance_n from_o it_o reckon_v among_o great_a deliverance_n indeed_o it_o be_v not_o always_o count_v so_o at_o least_o by_o the_o generality_n of_o the_o world_n they_o for_o the_o most_o part_n be_v ready_a to_o make_v nothing_o of_o it_o a_o light_n and_o small_a matter_n as_o for_o the_o death_n of_o the_o body_n do_v all_o they_o can_v to_o shun_v that_o but_o as_o for_o this_o body_n of_o death_n which_o the_o apostle_n paul_n so_o much_o complain_v of_o and_o bless_a god_n for_o deliverance_n from_o it_o this_o be_v such_o a_o thing_n as_o they_o be_v little_o trouble_v or_o solicitous_a about_o well_o but_o every_o good_a christian_a who_o have_v the_o eye_n of_o his_o understanding_n enlighten_v and_o his_o heart_n true_o sanctify_v with_o grace_n he_o look_v upon_o this_o as_o a_o very_a grievous_a and_o fearful_a death_n and_o according_o bless_v god_n for_o his_o deliverance_n and_o redempton_n from_o it_o oh_o wretched_a man_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o this_o body_n of_o death_n i_o thank_v god_n through_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n rom._n 7.24_o 25._o second_o eternal_a death_n the_o death_n of_o wrath_n and_o condemnation_n that_o be_v another_o great_a death_n also_o and_o such_o as_o follow_v likewise_o upon_o the_o former_a without_o recovery_n from_o it_o he_o that_o be_v final_o dead_a in_o sin_n he_o shall_v be_v certain_o dead_a in_o judgement_n the_o death_n of_o sentence_n and_o condemnation_n follow_v upon_o the_o death_n of_o spirit_n and_o disposition_n this_o god_n have_v also_o deliver_v we_o from_o he_o have_v deliver_v we_o from_o wrath_n to_o come_v 1_o thes_n 1.10_o and_o we_o be_v save_v from_o wrath_n through_o he_o rom._n 5.9_o this_o be_v a_o great_a death_n among_o other_o consideration_n in_o this_o respect_n forasmuch_o as_o it_o require_v so_o great_a a_o death_n for_o the_o expiate_a of_o it_o which_o be_v the_o death_n of_o no_o other_o than_o of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n himself_o who_o therefore_o taste_v of_o this_o death_n for_o the_o kind_n of_o it_o that_o he_o may_v free_v we_o from_o it_o we_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o god_n say_v the_o apostle_n by_o the_o death_n of_o his_o son_n what_o a_o sweet_a and_o bless_a saviour_n have_v we_o that_o care_v not_o how_o great_a a_o death_n he_o die_v himself_o that_o so_o he_o may_v free_v we_o from_o death_n the_o former_a yet_o it_o be_v great_a consider_v simple_o in_o itself_o and_o so_o much_o the_o great_a according_a to_o the_o several_a circumstance_n and_o aggravation_n which_o it_o may_v be_v clothe_v withal_o which_o we_o may_v take_v in_o these_o follow_a particular_n first_o from_o the_o nature_n and_o kind_n of_o it_o a_o violent_a death_n not_o a_o natural_a this_o be_v a_o great_a death_n and_o so_o consequent_o a_o great_a mercy_n to_o be_v deliver_v from_o it_o to_o be_v keep_v from_o accident_n and_o casualty_n and_o mischance_n which_o we_o be_v subject_a unto_o when_o the_o candle_n be_v not_o put_v out_o but_o go_v out_o when_o our_o life_n be_v not_o take_v away_o from_o we_o but_o end_n of_o itself_o this_o be_v a_o temporal_a blessing_n and_o such_o as_o when_o it_o be_v grant_v to_o the_o child_n of_o god_n be_v grant_v in_o love_n and_o answerable_o to_o be_v look_v upon_o by_o they_o as_o a_o merciful_a dispensation_n which_o they_o be_v to_o be_v gracious_o show_v himself_o in_o his_o behalf_n thankfulness_n and_o acknowledgement_n be_v the_o least_o which_o we_o can_v return_v upon_o god_n for_o deliverance_n and_o preservation_n this_o be_v that_o which_o we_o ourselves_o be_v now_o call_v to_o this_o present_a day_n wherein_o we_o celebrate_v god_n goodness_n to_o we_o in_o our_o deliverance_n from_o the_o gunpowder-treason_n a_o which_o we_o now_o commemorate_v this_o day_n from_o that_o popish_a and_o hellish_a conspiracy_n though_o for_o the_o thing_n and_o act_n of_o it_o it_o be_v vouchsafe_v many_o year_n ago_o yet_o of_o our_o life_n the_o present_a enjoyment_n of_o these_o opportunity_n which_o god_n do_v now_o afford_v unto_o we_o of_o meet_v together_o to_o praise_n and_o bless_v his_o name_n for_o what_o we_o do_v enjoy_v they_o be_v a_o fruit_n and_o effect_n and_o consequent_a of_o that_o day_n preservation_n and_o deliverance_n which_o be_v first_o act_v so_o many_o year_n since_o for_o have_v that_o plot_n take_v and_o succeed_v as_o it_o be_v near_o to_o have_v do_v we_o have_v never_o be_v capable_a of_o these_o mercy_n which_o since_o that_o time_n have_v be_v upon_o we_o and_o which_o by_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n still_o be_v so_o that_o that_o now_o may_v be_v one_o explication_n how_o god_n do_v deliver_v after_o he_o have_v deliver_v namely_o virtualiter_fw-la by_o way_n of_o settlement_n and_o confirmation_n as_o he_o do_v continue_v still_o upon_o we_o the_o fruit_n and_o benefit_n of_o former_a deliverance_n second_o god_n do_v deliver_v even_o after_o that_o he_o have_v deliver_v already_o analogice_n &_o specificative_a in_o renew_v upon_o we_o the_o like_a mercy_n again_o and_o in_o vouchsafe_v the_o same_o deliverance_n for_o kind_n as_o he_o have_v former_o do_v look_v what_o god_n have_v do_v for_o his_o church_n in_o time_n past_a the_o same_o he_o do_v also_o still_o and_o look_v what_o god_n have_v do_v for_o we_o in_o time_n past_a the_o same_o he_o do_v also_o still_o he_o be_v yesterday_o and_o to_o day_n and_o the_o same_o for_o ever_o take_v a_o instance_n still_o but_o in_o that_o which_o we_o be_v now_o at_o present_a upon_o the_o gunpowder-treason_n god_n deliver_v we_o from_o that_o even_o at_o this_o present_a not_o only_o as_o i_o show_v before_o in_o the_o fruit_n and_o efficacy_n of_o it_o which_o we_o still_o to_o this_o day_n enjoy_v but_o likewise_o in_o the_o similitude_n and_o suitableness_n of_o it_o in_o many_o other_o deliverance_n beside_o which_o be_v agreeable_a thereunto_o as_o there_o be_v a_o correspondency_n of_o enemy_n the_o same_o spirit_n and_o disposition_n as_o then_o and_o as_o there_o be_v a_o correspondency_n of_o attempt_n the_o same_o plot_n and_o conspiracy_n as_o then_o so_o there_o be_v likewise_o a_o correspondency_n of_o disappointment_n the_o same_o deliverance_n and_o preservation_n as_o then_o the_o same_o for_o kind_n and_o resemblance_n and_o proportion_n and_o so_o he_o that_o have_v deliver_v do_v deliver_v this_o may_v serve_v in_o the_o first_o place_n to_o take_v off_o all_o enemy_n of_o the_o church_n and_o to_o restrain_v they_o in_o their_o attempt_n against_o it_o they_o think_v that_o when_o god_n have_v deliver_v his_o people_n once_o that_o that_o be_v all_o he_o can_v do_v as_o when_o he_o have_v punish_v themselves_o once_o that_o he_o have_v do_v punish_v so_o when_o he_o have_v deliver_v his_o church_n once_o that_o he_o have_v do_v deliver_v no_o but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o neither_o in_o the_o one_o nor_o the_o other_o and_o so_o will_v they_o at_o last_o find_v if_o they_o observe_v it_o and_o put_v it_o to_o the_o trial_n where_o god_n have_v the_o same_o provocation_n to_o wrath_n he_o will_v inflict_v the_o same_o judgement_n and_o where_o he_o have_v the_o same_o ground_n and_o occasion_n for_o mercy_n he_o will_v show_v the_o same_o goodness_n and_o tenderness_n again_o and_o again_o this_o we_o may_v see_v in_o the_o story_n of_o balack_n and_o balaam_n god_n carriage_n to_o his_o people_n in_o that_o you_o see_v how_o often_o balack_n attempt_v it_o the_o cursing_z of_o israel_n and_o how_o often_o he_o put_v balaam_n upon_o it_o from_o one_o place_n to_o another_o come_v curse_v they_o i_o here_o and_o come_v curse_v they_o i_o here_o and_o curse_v they_o i_o here_o yet_o all_o will_v not_o do_v the_o deed_n he_o bless_v they_o notwithstanding_o in_o all_o and_o there_o be_v no_o hinder_v or_o prevent_v of_o it_o even_o as_o balaam_n himself_o be_v force_v to_o profess_v and_o acknowledge_v numb_a 23.23_o sure_o there_o be_v no_o enchantment_n against_o jacob_n neither_o be_v there_o any_o divination_n against_o israel_n according_a to_o this_o time_n it_o shall_v be_v
