bread_n to_o nourish_v our_o body_n withal_o both_o our_o infirmity_n and_o also_o the_o strength_n of_o god_n grace_n do_v the_o better_a appear_v then_o if_o god_n do_v instill_v his_o secret_a power_n to_o nourish_v the_o body_n without_o bread_n so_o a_o institution_n take_v from_o the_o body_n to_o the_o soul_n cause_v the_o grace_n of_o christ_n to_o be_v the_o better_o feel_v for_o when_o we_o hear_v that_o christ_n be_v the_o bread_n which_o our_o soul_n must_v eat_v this_o pierce_v far_a into_o our_o soul_n then_o if_o christ_n shall_v say_v simple_o that_o he_o be_v our_o life_n notwithstanding_o we_o must_v note_v that_o the_o lively_a force_n of_o christ_n be_v not_o express_v by_o the_o word_n bread_n
in_o such_o sort_n as_o we_o feel_v it_o for_o bread_n do_v not_o begin_v the_o life_n but_o it_o cherish_v and_o preserve_v the_o life_n which_o be_v begin_v but_o we_o do_v not_o only_o retain_v life_n through_o the_o benefit_n of_o christ_n but_o we_o have_v the_o beginning_n of_o life_n through_o he_o wherefore_o the_o similitude_n be_v unproper_a in_o some_o respect_n but_o in_o this_o christ_n himself_o be_v more_o excellent_a in_o feed_v man_n this_o be_v the_o self_n same_o reason_n why_o he_o do_v only_o call_v it_o bread_n because_o they_o do_v only_o object_v manna_n unto_o he_o therefore_o it_o be_v sufficient_a for_o he_o to_o set_v against_o the_o same_o another_o bread_n the_o doctrine_n be_v simple_a that_o our_o soul_n do_v not_o live_v by_o a_o inward_a power_n that_o i_o may_v so_o say_v but_o that_o they_o do_v borrow_v life_n of_o christ._n he_o which_o come_v unto_o i_o now_o he_o define_v the_o manner_n of_o eat_v namely_o when_o as_o we_o receive_v he_o by_o faith_n neither_o do_v it_o any_o whit_n profit_v the_o unbeliever_n that_o christ_n be_v the_o bread_n of_o life_n because_o they_o continue_v always_o empty_a but_o christ_n be_v make_v our_o bread_n then_o when_o as_o we_o come_v hungry_a unto_o he_o that_o he_o may_v fill_v us._n to_o come_v unto_o christ_n and_o to_o believe_v have_v all_o one_o signification_n in_o this_o place_n but_o in_o the_o former_a word_n the_o effect_n of_o faith_n be_v express_v namely_o that_o be_v enforce_v with_o the_o feel_n of_o our_o poverty_n we_o fly_v unto_o christ_n to_o ask_v life_n furthermore_o they_o who_o gather_v out_o of_o this_o place_n that_o the_o eat_n of_o christ_n be_v nothing_o else_o save_o faith_n only_o they_o reason_v scarce_o fit_o enough_o and_o to_o the_o purpose_n i_o grant_v indeed_o that_o we_o eat_v christ_n no_o otherwise_o save_v only_o by_o beleevingâ—_n but_o the_o â—ating_n itself_o be_v rather_o a_o effect_n or_o fruit_n of_o faith_n than_o faith_n neither_o do_v faith_n behold_v christ_n alone_o as_o be_v a_o far_o off_o but_o it_o embrace_v he_o that_o he_o may_v be_v make_v we_o &_o dwell_v in_o we_o it_o make_v we_o to_o grow_v drink_n &_o the_o other_o part_n of_o our_o life_n therefore_o the_o meaning_n of_o the_o word_n be_v this_o whosoever_o shall_v resort_v unto_o christ_n that_o he_o may_v have_v life_n of_o he_o he_o kingdom_n of_o god_n so_o often_o as_o he_o put_v in_o the_o word_n eat_v he_o exhort_v we_o unto_o faith_n which_o only_o make_v we_o to_o enjoy_v this_o bread_n unto_o life_n and_o that_o not_o in_o vain_a because_o there_o be_v but_o a_o few_o who_o can_v vouchsafe_v to_o reach_v forth_o their_o hand_n that_o they_o may_v put_v this_o bread_n to_o their_o mouth_n yea_o when_o the_o lord_n do_v if_o he_o do_v lift_v we_o into_o the_o hide_a place_n of_o his_o kingdom_n in_o the_o mean_a season_n correct_v the_o pride_n of_o our_o nature_n he_o allow_v the_o humility_n and_o obedience_n of_o faith_n while_o that_o he_o command_v those_o who_o will_v crave_v life_n to_o rest_v and_o stay_v in_o his_o flesh_n be_v to_o see_v to_o contemptible_a but_o it_o be_v object_v on_o the_o contrary_a that_o the_o flesh_n of_o christ_n can_v give_v life_n which_o be_v both_o subject_n to_o death_n and_o be_v not_o now_o of_o itself_o immortal_a second_o that_o this_o do_v not_o agree_v with_o the_o nature_n of_o flesh_n to_o quicken_v the_o soul_n i_o answer_v
that_o which_o be_v hard_a to_o believe_v that_o the_o soul_n be_v no_o otherwise_o feed_v with_o his_o flesh_n and_o blood_n than_o the_o body_n be_v sustain_v with_o meat_n and_o drink_v therefore_o as_o he_o do_v of_o late_o testify_v unto_o all_o man_n that_o there_o remain_v nothing_o but_o death_n for_o those_o who_o seek_v life_n any_o where_o else_o save_v only_o in_o his_o flesh_n so_o he_o do_v now_o encourage_v the_o godly_a unto_o good_a hope_n while_o that_o he_o promise_v life_n unto_o they_o in_o the_o same_o flesh_n note_v that_o he_o do_v so_o often_o adjoine_v the_o
