so_o that_o it_o be_v horrible_a presumption_n for_o any_o to_o think_v that_o god_n have_v reveal_v more_o to_o they_o then_o the_o apostle_n what_o the_o apostle_n have_v not_o reveal_v to_o they_o as_o necessary_a we_o be_v not_o to_o think_v it_o necessary_a therefore_o 2._o when_o the_o apostle_n be_v to_o leave_v the_o earth_n and_o can_v no_o long_o by_o a_o live_a voice_n commend_v those_o necessary_a thing_n to_o they_o it_o please_v god_n that_o what_o they_o have_v deliver_v by_o mouth_n shall_v be_v commend_v to_o writing_n these_o thing_n be_v write_v say_v john_n that_o believe_v we_o may_v have_v eternal_a life_n so_o then_o the_o believe_v of_o thing_n write_v be_v enough_o to_o bring_v eternal_a life_n joh._n 20_o 31._o and_o timothy_n be_v commend_v that_o from_o the_o as_o to_o look_v for_o another_o messiah_n with_o the_o jew_n he_o that_o can_v see_v with_o one_o sun_n will_v not_o see_v with_o a_o hundred_o scripture_n 3._o although_o the_o necessary_a foundation_n be_v thus_o lay_v yet_o our_o preach_n and_o your_o hear_n be_v not_o in_o vain_a for_o there_o be_v this_o further_a work_n to_o be_v do_v first_o those_o necessary_a thing_n we_o be_v to_o explain_v more_o distinct_o and_o confirm_v more_o plain_o that_o so_o faith_n may_v be_v the_o more_o settle_a necessary_a principle_n of_o religion_n have_v many_o excellent_a conclusion_n latent_fw-la in_o they_o as_o fire_n lie_v in_o a_o stone_n which_o do_v not_o appear_v but_o by_o strike_v out_o the_o ministry_n therefore_o be_v to_o explain_v and_o distinct_o to_o interpret_v these_o thing_n as_o the_o candle_n though_o of_o itself_o it_o have_v light_a enough_o yet_o unless_o put_v on_o a_o candlestick_n it_o can_v enlighten_v the_o whole_a room_n so_o the_o word_n of_o god_n though_o it_o be_v full_a of_o light_n yet_o there_o must_v be_v the_o interpretation_n and_o application_n of_o it_o therefore_o they_o be_v command_v to_o divide_v the_o word_n aright_o 2_o there_o be_v new_a rite_n and_o new_a sacrament_n and_o a_o clear_a explication_n but_o in_o the_o second_o place_n thing_n may_v be_v new_a to_o we_o as_o in_o popery_n when_o the_o reform_a divine_v first_o preach_v justification_n by_o faith_n deny_v the_o merit_n of_o work_n as_o also_o the_o pope_n to_o be_v head_n of_o the_o church_n these_o be_v say_v to_o bring_v a_o new_a gospel_n but_o it_o be_v a_o slander_n it_o be_v new_a only_o to_o man_n corrupt_v with_o error_n and_o live_v in_o ignorance_n as_o the_o sun_n be_v new_a to_o a_o man_n that_o be_v blind_a but_o have_v receive_v his_o sight_n three_o this_o build_n upon_o the_o foundation_n lie_v in_o the_o powerful_a application_n of_o necessary_a truth_n to_o the_o heart_n and_o consciency_n of_o man_n for_o the_o scripture_n that_o speak_v general_o the_o ministry_n that_o be_v to_o come_v particular_o that_o do_v as_o elisha_n lay_v himself_o upon_o the_o child_n mouth_n to_o mouth_n and_o body_n to_o body_n that_o so_o life_n may_v be_v procure_v to_o do_v by_o particular_a application_n of_o what_o be_v speak_v general_o in_o the_o word_n this_o be_v the_o ministry_n use_v of_o instruction_n that_o it_o be_v a_o fundamental_a miscarriage_n in_o religion_n to_o affect_v any_o thing_n further_o than_o the_o scripture_n and_o the_o apostle_n have_v leave_v to_o we_o to_o expect_v such_o new_a thing_n light_n both_o person_n and_o church_n be_v to_o grow_v in_o a_o reformation_n yet_o they_o must_v grow_v within_o the_o same_o kind_n as_o a_o child_n grow_v in_o the_o part_n of_o mankind_n he_o do_v not_o degenerate_a into_o another_o nature_n but_o let_v every_o man_n take_v heed_n how_o he_o build_v thereon_o we_o be_v now_o come_v to_o the_o late_a part_n of_o this_o verse_n which_o be_v second_o objection_n be_v be_v christ_n only_o to_o be_v preach_v as_o the_o foundation_n object_n and_o be_v people_n to_o be_v build_v upon_o he_o then_o what_o need_v minister_n preach_v of_o any_o thing_n else_o but_o christ_n what_o need_v they_o preach_v of_o faith_n and_o repentance_n especial_o why_o shall_v they_o preach_v of_o the_o threaten_n and_o the_o curse_n of_o the_o law_n of_o the_o torment_n of_o hell_n do_v it_o become_v the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o be_v son_n of_o thunder_n have_v they_o any_o work_n to_o do_v but_o to_o offer_v christ_n to_o every_o one_o every_o sermon_n shall_v it_o not_o be_v a_o ho_o to_o every_o one_o that_o be_v thirsty_a naked_a or_o miserable_a that_o be_v burden_v and_o lade_v to_o come_v to_o christ_n thus_o indeed_o some_o as_o to_o rest_v on_o they_o to_o put_v confidence_n in_o they_o this_o man_n lay_v another_o foundation_n but_o so_o do_v not_o the_o orthodox_n we_o preach_v christ_n the_o meritorious_a cause_n duty_n be_v the_o way_n not_o the_o cause_n and_o although_o christ_n be_v say_v to_o be_v in_o a_o different_a sense_n the_o way_n yet_o duty_n be_v the_o way_n christ_n be_v the_o way_n effective_o and_o meritorious_a but_o so_o be_v not_o duty_n second_o though_o the_o minister_n be_v to_o lay_v no_o other_o foundation_n yet_o they_o be_v to_o build_v upon_o this_o they_o must_v enlarge_v themselves_o in_o the_o explication_n of_o this_o foundation_n they_o must_v not_o build_v hay_n or_o stubble_n but_o gold_n and_o precious_a stone_n so_o that_o we_o be_v not_o only_o to_o lay_v the_o foundation_n but_o to_o add_v all_o other_o thing_n that_o may_v make_v we_o a_o comely_a build_n upon_o christ_n three_o to_o preach_v christ_n be_v not_o only_o to_o preach_v christ_n as_o the_o object_n matter_n but_o all_o the_o thing_n christ_n will_v have_v we_o to_o preach_v that_o be_v to_o be_v observe_v we_o preach_v christ_n when_o we_o preach_v all_o those_o thing_n he_o have_v command_v as_o well_o as_o when_o he_o be_v the_o subject_a matter_n of_o our_o sermon_n when_o paul_n about_o the_o lord_n supper_n say_v i_o deliver_v unto_o you_o that_o also_o which_o i_o receive_v of_o the_o lord_n christ_n here_o he_o preach_v christ_n as_o well_o as_o when_o he_o say_v this_o be_v a_o faithful_a say_n christ_n come_v into_o the_o world_n to_o save_v sinner_n so_o in_o their_o voyage_n and_o journey_n where_o they_o go_v be_v say_v to_o preach_v christ_n and_o in_o those_o sermon_n they_o do_v not_o only_o preach_v jesus_n to_o be_v the_o messiah_n but_o also_o command_v all_o other_o duty_n of_o faith_n repentance_n love_n as_o the_o auditory_n do_v require_v four_o we_o be_v to_o preach_v duty_n but_o in_o reference_n to_o christ_n take_v any_o particular_a grace_n that_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n provoke_v man_n to_o this_o can_v be_v do_v without_o bring_v the_o soul_n to_o christ_n and_o therefore_o though_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n do_v not_o in_o every_o sermon_n name_n it_o yet_o it_o be_v to_o be_v suppose_v as_o for_o example_n take_v repentance_n we_o say_v every_o ungodly_a sinner_n unless_o he_o repent_v unless_o sin_n be_v a_o burden_n a_o heavy_a bitterness_n to_o he_o and_o he_o full_o forsake_v it_o he_o must_v necessary_o perish_v now_o many_o way_n christ_n be_v concern_v in_o this_o for_o 1._o he_o can_v repent_v and_o be_v humble_v for_o sin_n unless_o christ_n give_v he_o strength_n without_o i_o you_o can_v do_v nothing_o the_o branch_n separate_v from_o the_o tree_n have_v no_o moisture_n no_o juice_n in_o it_o john_n 15._o thus_o a_o man_n without_o christ_n have_v 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d a_o hard_a heart_n a_o wither_a heart_n a_o heart_n without_o any_o god_n when_o it_o may_v be_v thou_o be_v further_o off_o than_o ever_o 2._o the_o truth_n of_o christ_n be_v profitable_a to_o sanctification_n and_o holiness_n sanctify_v they_o by_o thy_o truth_n john_n 17._o by_o the_o word_n we_o come_v to_o take_v heed_n of_o sin_n psal_n 19_o to_o order_n our_o life_n whereas_o error_n that_o be_v whole_o instrumental_a to_o wickedness_n and_o impiety_n darkness_n and_o want_v the_o star_n to_o bring_v they_o to_o christ_n or_o happiness_n david_n do_v in_o many_o place_n acknowledge_v this_o excellent_a property_n of_o god_n word_n that_o it_o
