with_o his_o righteousness_n touch_v this_o commandment_n as_o well_o as_o with_o his_o obedience_n to_o all_o the_o rest_n for_o if_o we_o do_v not_o believe_v in_o this_o christ_n of_o who_o it_o be_v testify_v that_o he_o be_v every_o way_n perfect_o true_a we_o can_v be_v save_v as_o christ_n himself_o affirm_v joh._n chap._n 8.24_o except_o you_o believe_v say_v our_o saviour_n christ_n that_o i_o be_o he_o you_o shall_v die_v in_o your_o sin_n and_o final_o this_o also_o we_o must_v know_v that_o if_o we_o be_v in_o christ_n we_o must_v of_o necessity_n or_o rather_o we_o shall_v by_o his_o grace_n true_o repent_v of_o all_o the_o lie_v and_o slander_n that_o we_o have_v make_v and_o of_o all_o other_o our_o transgression_n against_o this_o commandment_n yea_o put_v away_o our_o nature_n comprehend_v under_o it_o and_o second_o which_o be_v the_o thing_n of_o our_o neighbour_n which_o he_o forbid_v we_o to_o covet_v show_v therefore_o in_o the_o first_o place_n what_o the_o word_n covet_v mean_v to_o covet_v be_v to_o have_v any_o the_o least_o lust_n desire_v or_o motion_n in_o the_o mind_n after_o any_o thing_n that_o be_v our_o neighbour_n the_o lord_n have_v forbid_v covet_v or_o long_v with_o all_o unlawful_a desire_n after_o any_o thing_n that_o be_v our_o neighbour_n in_o the_o commandment_n go_v before_o commandment_n how_o it_o be_v distinguish_v from_o the_o former_a commandment_n for_o in_o the_o 8._o commandment_n he_o have_v forbid_v we_o to_o covet_v our_o neighbour_n house_n or_o any_o part_n of_o his_o worldly_a riches_n in_o the_o 7._o commandment_n he_o have_v forbid_v we_o to_o covet_v or_o lust_n after_o our_o neighbour_n wife_n etc._n etc._n as_o our_o saviour_n christ_n expound_v that_o commandment_n in_o the_o 5._o chap._n of_o matthew_n yea_o this_o corrupt_a covet_v or_o just_z this_o long_a after_o desire_v or_o wish_v for_o all_o these_o be_v one_o it_o be_v as_o it_o be_v a_o short_a and_o summarie_a abridgement_n of_o all_o sin_n the_o covet_v or_o desire_v after_o divine_a honour_n and_o glory_n that_o be_v after_o any_o honour_n and_o glory_n above_o that_o be_v meet_v for_o a_o creature_n as_o eve_n be_v tempt_v by_o the_o devil_n to_o desire_v to_o be_v like_o god_n it_o be_v the_o transgression_n of_o the_o first_o table_n all_o covet_v or_o lust_a which_o tend_v to_o the_o hurt_n of_o our_o neighbour_n be_v a_o general_a transgression_n of_o the_o second_o table_n
when_o a_o minister_n of_o god_n word_n may_v be_v translate_v as_o it_o be_v and_o remove_v from_o one_o people_n to_o another_o but_o that_o must_v be_v in_o a_o orderly_a course_n when_o it_o may_v be_v discern_v to_o be_v more_o to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n etc._n etc._n and_o not_o to_o serve_v the_o private_a humour_n of_o this_o or_o that_o man_n which_o will_v say_v such_o a_o one_o shall_v go_v for_o my_o money_n and_o so_o contemn_v all_o other_o etc._n etc._n the_o first_o of_o the_o thing_n in_o this_o answer_n be_v so_o plain_a in_o themselves_o that_o they_o need_v no_o further_a speech_n or_o allegation_n for_o the_o proof_n of_o they_o in_o a_o word_n the_o covet_v of_o any_o thing_n of_o our_o neighbour_n whatsoever_o be_v covetable_a if_o we_o may_v so_o speak_v 3.6_o where_o eve_n judge_v the_o forbid_a tree_n to_o be_v a_o tree_n to_o be_v desire_v give_v place_n to_o her_o desire_n or_o covet_v eye_n and_o so_o bring_v evil_a lust_n into_o the_o world_n have_v that_o thing_n of_o the_o bountiful_a hand_n of_o god_n which_o our_o heart_n can_v afford_v a_o evil_a lust_n after_o it_o etc._n etc._n furthermore_o also_o we_o may_v from_o hence_o well_o perceive_v that_o it_o be_v not_o lawful_a for_o we_o to_o wish_v any_o of_o the_o same_o thing_n to_o any_o friend_n to_o the_o hurt_n of_o our_o neighbour_n which_o we_o may_v not_o wish_v to_o ourselves_o for_o this_o be_v to_o prefer_v our_o affection_n to_o our_o friend_n before_o the_o goodwill_n and_o pleasure_n and_o most_o wise_a providence_n of_o god_n who_o have_v otherwise_o appoint_v and_o dispose_v thereof_o moreover_o see_v we_o may_v wish_v no_o good_a thing_n from_o our_o neighbour_n either_o direct_o to_o ourselves_o or_o indirect_o to_o any_o of_o our_o special_a friend_n let_v we_o note_v well_o that_o we_o may_v much_o less_o and_o so_o not_o without_o great_a sin_n wish_v our_o neighbour_n any_o damage_n or_o hurt_n command_v duty_n or_o rather_o the_o which_o we_o must_v not_o love_v to_o the_o hindrance_n of_o love_n either_o towards_o god_n or_o our_o neighbour_n as_o we_o read_v in_o the_o 1._o epistle_n of_o john_n chap_n 2._o verse_n 15.16.17_o where_o he_o devide_v lust_n into_o three_o branch_n as_o it_o be_v the_o lust_n of_o the_o flesh_n the_o lust_n of_o the_o eye_n and_o the_o pride_n of_o life_n so_o that_o according_o do_v the_o lord_n forbid_v all_o covetousness_n of_o the_o mind_n after_o riches_n all_o voluptuousness_n of_o mind_n in_o desire_n after_o pleasure_n and_o all_o ambitious_a desire_n of_o honour_n thus_o much_o therefore_o concern_v the_o evil_n forbid_v in_o this_o commandment_n now_o let_v we_o come_v to_o see_v on_o the_o affirmative_a part_n what_o good_a thing_n god_n command_v in_o the_o same_o show_v which_o they_o be_v first_o god_n staight_o require_v that_o every_o of_o we_o do_v dispose_v of_o our_o mind_n to_o stand_v full_o satisfy_v and_o content_v with_o that_o portion_n of_o blessing_n both_o spiritual_a and_o belong_v to_o this_o life_n which_o he_o of_o his_o divine_a wisdom_n and_o grace_n alot_v unto_o we_o from_o time_n to_o time_n whether_o it_o be_v plenty_n or_o want_n more_o or_o less_o follow_v our_o present_a business_n and_o use_v all_o lawful_a mean_n with_o a_o quiet_a mind_n and_o without_o any_o distrustful_a care_n for_o the_o morrow_o paitent_o wait_v upon_o god_n until_o it_o shall_v please_v he_o in_o his_o good_a time_n and_o by_o his_o most_o gracious_a and_o provident_a hand_n to_o better_v our_o estate_n second_o that_o we_o have_v our_o heart_n and_o mind_n ready_o and_o constant_o incline_v and_o bend_v to_o rejoice_v at_o all_o the_o mercy_n which_o god_n have_v already_o or_o shall_v hereafter_o bestow_v upon_o every_o of_o our_o neighbour_n in_o what_o measure_n soever_o it_o be_v three_o that_o we_o do_v studious_o devise_v how_o we_o may_v do_v they_o most_o good_a and_o from_o the_o secret_n of_o our_o soul_n desire_n and_o long_o after_o their_o further_a benefit_n as_o may_v stand_v with_o the_o goodwill_a and_o pleasure_n of_o almighty_a god_n four_o that_o on_o the_o other_o side_n we_o be_v ready_a to_o lament_v whatsoever_o fall_v out_o unprosperous_o against_o they_o and_o that_o we_o be_v willing_a to_o our_o power_n to_o procure_v the_o remedy_n of_o the_o same_o according_a to_o all_o the_o commandment_n of_o the_o second_o table_n of_o the_o law_n go_v before_o final_o that_o we_o do_v earnest_o and_o constant_o settle_v ourselves_o to_o bewail_v resist_v and_o suppress_v all_o contrary_a lust_n motion_n and_o temptation_n which_o shall_v at_o any_o time_n arise_v in_o our_o heart_n whatsoever_o they_o be_v or_o more_o brief_o thus_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n require_v of_o we_o in_o this_o his_o last_o commandment_n first_o original_a righteousness_n and_o perfect_a love_n towards_o our_o neighbour_n as_o the_o ground_n of_o all_o good_a duty_n towards_o they_o according_a to_o our_o first_o creation_n second_o he_o command_v we_o the_o immediate_a fruit_n of_o the_o same_o original_a righteousness_n and_o perfect_a love_n of_o our_o neighbour_n in_o all_o righteous_a and_o love_a thought_n and_o motion_n of_o the_o heart_n tend_v to_o the_o great_a good_a which_o we_o may_v procure_v unto_o they_o join_v also_o with_o the_o denial_n of_o ourselves_o and_o all_o that_o self-love_n and_o pride_n which_o through_o the_o corruption_n of_o nature_n abound_v in_o us._n but_o concern_v the_o part_n of_o the_o answer_n somewhat_o more_o at_o large_a for_o the_o first_o point_n let_v we_o consider_v that_o this_o last_o commandment_n be_v as_o one_o may_v not_o unfit_o compare_v it_o the_o sabbath_n of_o the_o second_o table_n of_o the_o law_n see_v it_o require_v such_o a_o absolute_a cease_v of_o all_o hatred_n yea_o of_o all_o unkindness_n against_o our_o neighbour_n that_o we_o may_v from_o the_o perfect_a ground_n of_o love_n and_o tender_a regard_n of_o he_o only_o intend_v to_o do_v he_o the_o great_a good_a which_o possible_o we_o may_v consider_v of_o this_o further_a from_o the_o doctrine_n of_o contentment_n 1._o timothy_n 6.6_o and_o hebrew_n chapter_n 13.5_o and_o from_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o right_a manner_n of_o use_v this_o world_n and_o the_o thing_n thereof_o both_o profit_n and_o pleasure_n 1._o
