rule_n the_o example_n of_o the_o multitude_n great_a man_n and_o such_o as_o be_v count_v wise_a learned_a judicious_a and_o prudent_a man_n and_o the_o like_a but_o this_o be_v a_o walk_a according_a to_o the_o course_n of_o the_o world_n some_o make_v their_o own_o will_n and_o lust_n their_o rule_n whatsoever_o seem_v good_a in_o their_o own_o eye_n a_o rule_n to_o walk_v by_o but_o he_o that_o walk_v with_o god_n walk_v by_o no_o other_o rule_n than_o the_o rule_n of_o the_o word_n and_o therefore_o he_o stand_v in_o the_o way_n and_o inquire_v he_o inquire_v for_o the_o way_n as_o god_n command_v the_o prophet_n jeremiah_n jer._n 6._o 16._o saying_n stand_v you_o in_o the_o way_n and_o see_v and_o ask_v for_o the_o old_a path_n where_o be_v the_o good_a way_n and_o walk_v thing_n in_o hand_n without_o god_n and_o therefore_o he_o continual_o look_v up_o to_o he_o for_o grace_n that_o be_v the_o first_o part_n or_o first_o step_n he_o walk_v by_o rule_n again_o 2._o second_o no_o opposition_n no_o difficulty_n in_o his_o way_n no_o sad_a event_n can_v turn_v he_o aside_o from_o do_v his_o duty_n this_o be_v another_o part_n of_o the_o character_n of_o he_o that_o walk_v with_o god_n i_o say_v when_o his_o duty_n be_v reveal_v to_o he_o and_o make_v know_v by_o the_o word_n there_o be_v no_o difficulty_n no_o discouragement_n can_v turn_v he_o aside_o or_o cause_v he_o to_o desist_v from_o that_o which_o be_v his_o duty_n though_o he_o meet_v with_o discouragement_n from_o within_o and_o from_o without_o even_o his_o own_o bowel_n rise_v up_o against_o he_o the_o corruption_n that_o be_v within_o he_o do_v oppose_v the_o work_n of_o the_o lord_n in_o the_o performance_n of_o his_o duty_n his_o unbelieving_a heart_n tell_v he_o he_o have_v as_o good_a desist_v and_o give_v over_o he_o shall_v never_o prevail_v nor_o do_v good_a on_o it_o nor_o be_v a_o proficient_a in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n notwithstanding_o his_o discouragement_n he_o look_v upon_o the_o strength_n of_o christ_n and_o go_v on_o sometime_o the_o devil_n set_v upon_o he_o temptation_n do_v back_o corruption_n and_o he_o meet_v with_o many_o a_o storm_n to_o blow_v he_o back_o again_o from_o follow_v after_o god_n but_o he_o look_v to_o the_o promise_n and_o go_v on_o the_o god_n of_o peace_n shall_v tread_v down_o satan_n short_o he_o look_v to_o jesus_n who_o be_v tempt_v and_o be_v able_a to_o succour_v those_o that_o be_v tempt_v and_o therefore_o still_o he_o go_v on_o sometime_o he_o meet_v with_o discouragement_n from_o the_o world_n there_o be_v reproach_n cast_v in_o the_o way_n slander_v cast_v in_o the_o way_n persecution_n many_o time_n lie_v in_o the_o way_n ay_o but_o still_o he_o go_v on_o and_o remember_v that_o the_o lord_n jesus_n himself_o go_v through_o this_o way_n and_o remember_v that_o all_o that_o will_v live_v godly_a in_o christ_n jesus_n must_v walk_v through_o this_o way_n believe_v that_o there_o be_v a_o time_n when_o god_n will_v roll_n away_o all_o the_o reproach_n of_o his_o servant_n and_o therefore_o notwithstanding_o
all_o opposition_n go_v on_o not_o look_v to_o the_o event_n such_o a_o duty_n may_v cost_v he_o his_o liberty_n and_o life_n but_o he_o look_v whether_o it_o be_v his_o duty_n and_o consider_v not_o the_o event_n he_o will_v trust_v god_n for_o it_o so_o do_v the_o three_o child_n in_o dan._n 3._o when_o the_o king_n threaten_v to_o cast_v they_o into_o the_o fiery_a furnace_n the_o 15_o 16_o shall_v see_v there_o when_o they_o will_v have_v dissuade_v he_o from_o his_o duty_n because_o of_o danger_n that_o be_v in_o his_o way_n why_o say_v he_o there_o why_o what_o do_v you_o mean_v to_o weep_v and_o to_o break_v my_o heart_n i_o be_o ready_a not_o only_o to_o be_v bind_v but_o also_o to_o die_v at_o jerusalem_n for_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n what_o do_v you_o mean_v he_o yet_o he_o will_v not_o desist_v from_o walk_v with_o god_n psal_n 44._o 17._o see_v what_o they_o say_v there_o all_z this_o be_v come_v upon_o we_o yet_o have_v not_o we_o forsake_v thou_o much_o of_o he_o much_o of_o god_n in_o his_o conversation_n to_o do_v some_o singular_a thing_n for_o god_n he_o know_v that_o he_o have_v set_v he_o in_o the_o world_n for_o this_o end_n to_o bear_v up_o the_o name_n and_o honour_n of_o god_n in_o the_o world_n that_o god_n have_v pour_v his_o spirit_n upon_o he_o for_o this_o end_n that_o so_o in_o the_o light_n of_o god_n he_o may_v shine_v and_o shine_v glorious_o in_o a_o dark_a world_n and_o therefore_o he_o desire_v to_o do_v something_o singular_a for_o god_n because_o he_o have_v do_v singular_a thing_n for_o he_o as_o thus_o his_o desire_n his_o endeavour_n be_v to_o promote_v the_o cause_n of_o god_n in_o the_o world_n to_o help_v forward_o the_o service_n of_o his_o generation_n to_o be_v instrumental_a to_o the_o lord_n if_o the_o lord_n please_v to_o employ_v he_o for_o the_o help_a forward_o of_o the_o great_a work_n in_o his_o generation_n wherein_o god_n have_v cast_v he_o he_o be_v willing_a also_o to_o lay_v down_o himself_o and_o his_o comfort_n at_o the_o footstool_n of_o god_n this_o be_v a_o singular_a thing_n i_o say_v to_o give_v up_o all_o to_o god_n whatsoever_o he_o have_v he_o be_v willing_a that_o the_o lord_n shall_v take_v he_o his_o comfort_n his_o gift_n his_o riches_n and_o whatsoever_o he_o have_v and_o improve_v it_o for_o his_o own_o honour_n that_o if_o the_o lord_n shall_v say_v it_o commandment_n of_o the_o lord_n there_o be_v no_o jot_n no_o tittle_n of_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n but_o be_v precious_a to_o he_o and_o therefore_o he_o have_v no_o reservation_n to_o himself_o he_o do_v not_o say_v i_o will_v do_v any_o other_o but_o this_o i_o will_v obey_v any_o commandment_n but_o such_o a_o precept_n i_o can_v walk_v in_o such_o a_o way_n with_o god_n though_o it_o be_v clear_v up_o to_o be_v a_o duty_n but_o he_o that_o walk_v with_o god_n yield_v universal_a obedience_n he_o will_v not_o indent_v with_o god_n no_o reservation_n to_o himself_o no_o exemption_n from_o any_o word_n or_o law_n of_o god_n he_o say_v not_o as_o nahaman_n god_n be_v merciful_a to_o i_o in_o this_o no_o he_o desire_v to_o yield_v universal_a obedience_n though_o he_o see_v he_o come_v short_a of_o his_o desire_n and_o his_o obedience_n be_v scant_o so_o that_o he_o dare_v not_o rely_v upon_o his_o obedience_n he_o dare_v not_o trust_v to_o his_o obedience_n to_o be_v justify_v by_o it_o yet_o it_o be_v his_o desire_n to_o come_v off_o in_o all_o thing_n and_o he_o have_v no_o reservation_n to_o himself_o to_o say_v if_o i_o embrace_v such_o a_o truth_n and_o walk_v in_o such_o a_o way_n with_o god_n it_o will_v stand_v with_o my_o credit_n i_o shall_v lose_v my_o friend_n my_o name_n my_o esteem_n in_o the_o world_n my_o custom_n or_o trade_n and_o the_o like_a i_o say_v he_o that_o walk_v with_o god_n have_v no_o such_o reservation_n that_o be_v a_o four_o again_o 5._o five_o he_o that_o walk_v with_o god_n will_v hold_v fast_o his_o profession_n though_o all_o the_o world_n forsake_v he_o though_o he_o be_v leave_v alone_o or_o though_o there_o be_v a_o very_a few_o that_o walk_v with_o he_o so_o do_v elijah_n lord_n they_o have_v kill_v
