to_o be_v understand_v that_o fidelity_n oblige_v the_o servant_n not_o only_o not_o to_o do_v his_o master_n any_o wrong_n himself_o but_o also_o not_o to_o suffer_v any_o other_o to_o do_v he_o any_o fidelity_n take_v in_o this_o large_a extent_n compreprehend_v a_o great_a many_o duty_n of_o the_o servant_n towards_o his_o master_n as_o for_o example_n soul_n fidelity_n towards_o his_o master_n soul_n first_o that_o he_o endeavour_v as_o far_o as_o it_o lie_v in_o he_o to_o promote_v the_o virtue_n and_o procure_v the_o salvation_n of_o his_o master_n for_o this_o be_v his_o true_a and_o great_a interest_n this_o he_o may_v effect_v partly_o by_o prayer_n to_o god_n for_o he_o partly_o by_o advice_n and_o good_a discourse_n if_o his_o master_n give_v he_o any_o such_o opportunity_n or_o admit_v he_o into_o any_o such_o freedom_n partly_o like_o serapion_n by_o the_o example_n of_o a_o excellent_a life_n but_o if_o he_o can_v serve_v he_o this_o way_n he_o must_v at_o least_o take_v care_n that_o he_o be_v not_o guilty_a of_o the_o contrary_a he_o must_v not_o be_v a_o incentive_a to_o or_o instrument_n of_o his_o sin_n he_o must_v not_o be_v a_o contriver_n of_o or_o purveyor_n for_o his_o lust_n he_o must_v not_o flatter_v and_o applaud_v he_o in_o his_o wickedness_n for_o this_o be_v the_o worst_a sort_n of_o unfaithfulness_n the_o betray_v the_o very_a soul_n of_o his_o master_n and_o how_o wretched_a a_o state_n do_v the_o servant_n reduce_v himself_o to_o by_o this_o perfidiousness_n if_o his_o master_n never_o repent_v he_o have_v draw_v to_o every_o one_o next_o to_o his_o soul_n and_o virtue_n now_o the_o peace_n of_o a_o master_n may_v be_v disturb_v either_o by_o the_o contention_n of_o those_o of_o his_o family_n among_o themselves_o or_o by_o their_o unkindness_n and_o undutifulness_n towards_o himself_o the_o servant_n therefore_o who_o by_o lie_v or_o slander_n by_o vile_a whisper_n and_o information_n do_v alienate_v the_o affection_n of_o the_o family_n or_o any_o member_n of_o it_o from_o their_o head_n or_o set_v they_o at_o variance_n between_o one_o another_o be_v guilty_a of_o the_o black_a treachery_n for_o he_o perfidious_o rob_v his_o master_n of_o the_o peace_n of_o his_o mind_n and_o the_o affection_n of_o those_o of_o his_o household_n than_o both_o which_o nothing_o can_v be_v dear_a to_o he_o nor_o be_v this_o all_o the_o aggravation_n of_o this_o sin_n for_o it_o load_v the_o perfidious_a wretch_n with_o all_o the_o guilt_n of_o the_o numerous_a and_o great_a mischief_n master_n or_o mistress_n public_a that_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a they_o must_v not_o see_v they_o themselves_o they_o must_v be_v so_o far_o from_o make_v they_o the_o subject_n of_o their_o discourse_n abroad_o that_o they_o must_v vindicate_v they_o all_o that_o possible_o they_o can_v nay_o they_o must_v not_o endure_v any_o such_o sort_n of_o talk_n at_o home_n

this_o end_n of_o thy_o theft_n the_o gratify_v some_o wild_a and_o lewd_a affection_n the_o more_o thou_o do_v succeed_v in_o it_o the_o more_o desperate_a and_o deplorable_a be_v thy_o state_n the_o two_o other_o end_n namely_o the_o satisfaction_n of_o thy_o covetousness_n or_o thy_o security_n against_o future_a want_n be_v in_o all_o probability_n subvert_v and_o defeat_v by_o that_o very_a sin_n by_o which_o thou_o do_v endeavour_v to_o attain_v they_o for_o thy_o theft_n forfeit_v the_o favour_n and_o patronage_n of_o god_n thy_o distrust_n and_o this_o course_n it_o put_v thou_o understand_v by_o it_o all_o act_n of_o you_o by_o which_o your_o master_n suffer_v detriment_n and_o wrong_n for_o instance_n not_o only_o the_o deceive_v he_o in_o what_o be_v in_o your_o own_o trust_n or_o the_o pilfer_n what_o be_v in_o another_o or_o the_o take_n to_o yourselves_o any_o way_n unjust_o what_o be_v his_o but_o also_o the_o give_v away_o to_o other_o without_o his_o knowledge_n or_o contrary_a to_o his_o will_n any_o part_n or_o portion_n of_o he_o than_o which_o nothing_o i_o hear_v be_v more_o common_a servant_n as_o well_o as_o master_n have_v their_o attendant_n and_o hanger_n on_o their_o parasite_n and_o flatterer_n who_o at_o once_o soothe_v they_o in_o their_o pride_n and_o vanity_n by_o fawn_v and_o flatter_v and_o cherish_v they_o in_o their_o idleness_n by_o do_v their_o business_n i_o must_v put_v you_o in_o mind_n further_o that_o i_o mean_v by_o your_o master_n good_n whatever_o he_o possess_v whatever_o it_o be_v wherein_o he_o can_v suffer_v or_o you_o commit_v wrong_a and_o in_o the_o last_o place_n i_o must_v put_v you_o in_o mind_n that_o you_o be_v guilty_a not_o only_o of_o the_o wrong_n and_o injustice_n which_o you_o personal_o commit_v but_o also_o of_o whatever_o be_v commit_v by_o any_o other_o if_o you_o consent_v to_o it_o and_o connive_v at_o it_o even_o though_o you_o shall_v receive_v no_o benefit_n by_o it_o for_o thus_o far_o i_o conceive_v the_o reproof_n of_o the_o psalmist_n may_v be_v extend_v 50.18_o extend_v psa_fw-la 50.18_o when_o thou_o see_v a_o thief_n thou_o consented'_v with_o he_o peradventure_o this_o sort_n of_o theft_n be_v not_o to_o be_v load_v with_o all_o the_o aggravation_n of_o the_o former_a yet_o the_o least_o that_o can_v be_v say_v of_o it_o be_v that_o it_o be_v a_o downright_a injustice_n a_o breach_n of_o trust_n and_o extreme_a unfaithfulness_n towards_o the_o master_n but_o you_o will_v demand_v of_o i_o how_o be_v a_o servant_n to_o behave_v himself_o towards_o his_o guilty_a fellow-servant_n that_o he_o may_v in_o such_o a_o case_n as_o this_o acquit_v himself_o with_o a_o good_a conscience_n towards_o god_n and_o man_n if_o he_o conceal_v his_o fault_n he_o be_v unfaithful_a to_o his_o master_n if_o he_o discover_v it_o he_o be_v unkind_a to_o his_o fellow-servant_n he_o must_v betray_v the_o one_o or_o the_o other_o if_o he_o do_v not_o reveal_v the_o wrongâ—_n he_o see_v his_o master_n suffer_v and_o what_o be_v more_o his_o conscience_n must_v suffer_v too_o if_o he_o do_v he_o shall_v be_v hate_v and_o persecute_v by_o his_o fellow-servant_n as_o a_o informer_n nay_o peradventure_o what_o be_v worse_o than_o this_o he_o he_o that_o be_v accuse_v shall_v outwit_n he_o or_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o form_v a_o combination_n against_o he_o and_o so_o find_v more_o credit_n with_o the_o master_n and_o by_o consequence_n the_o good_a servant_n shall_v by_o his_o integrity_n and_o justice_n forfeit_v his_o place_n and_o it_o may_v be_v his_o reputation_n or_o at_o least_o live_v uneasy_o persecute_v by_o the_o vexatious_a calumny_n affront_n and_o unkindness_n of_o those_o other_o that_o be_v combine_v against_o he_o to_o this_o demand_n take_v this_o answer_n i_o shall_v never_o have_v fancy_v this_o objection_n have_v i_o not_o be_v extreme_o sensible_a of_o the_o frailty_n of_o man_n for_o whence_o shall_v any_o one_o doubt_n whether_o he_o shall_v preserve_v his_o faith_n and_o duty_n to_o his_o master_n or_o commit_v a_o sin_n to_o oblige_v a_o fellow-servant_n whence_o shall_v spring_v this_o question_n
