will_v you_o have_v unbelief_n remove_v then_o oh_o beg_v and_o beg_v earnest_o that_o god_n will_v take_v away_o your_o heart_n of_o stone_n and_o give_v you_o heart_n of_o flesh_n let_v this_o be_v believe_v on_o i_o shall_v neutr_v thirst_n i_o shall_v begin_v with_o the_o first_o the_o evident_a and_o undeniable_a proposition_n i_o be_o the_o bread_n of_o life_n which_o word_n must_v not_o be_v understand_v literal_o as_o if_o our_o saviour_n be_v such_o corporal_a bread_n as_o can_v be_v chew_v in_o the_o mouth_n and_o digest_v in_o the_o stomach_n as_o the_o capernaite_n do_v fond_o conceive_v when_o they_o say_v how_o can_v this_o man_n give_v we_o his_o flesh_n to_o eat_v this_o be_v as_o gross_a a_o conceit_n as_o nicodemus_n who_o ask_v if_o he_o shall_v go_v into_o his_o mother_n womb_n again_o and_o be_v bear_v but_o the_o word_n must_v be_v understand_v in_o a_o metaphorical_a sense_n that_o as_o bread_n strengthen_v the_o body_n and_o revive_v the_o spirit_n and_o support_v the_o nature_n of_o a_o man_n and_o enable_v he_o to_o perform_v natural_a action_n with_o more_o vigour_n and_o vivacity_n so_o likewise_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n strengthen_v the_o soul_n and_o revive_v the_o spirit_n and_o support_v we_o in_o our_o spiritual_a life_n and_o help_v we_o to_o perform_v spiritual_a duty_n in_o a_o spiritual_a manner_n therefore_o he_o say_v i_o be_o the_o bread_n of_o life_n he_o be_v not_o only_a bread_n but_o the_o bread_n of_o life_n because_o it_o be_v he_o that_o give_v we_o spiritual_a life_n here_o and_o preserve_v that_o life_n and_o will_v hereafter_o give_v to_o we_o eternal_a lise_fw-fr in_o glory_n and_o therefore_o he_o be_v call_v the_o bread_n of_o life_n so_o then_o the_o doctrine_n i_o will_v commend_v to_o you_o from_o hence_o be_v this_o doct._n the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n be_v that_o live_a bread_n that_o give_v spiritual_a and_o eternal_a life_n to_o all_o those_o that_o have_v a_o part_n and_o interest_n in_o a_o common_a saviour_n common_a for_o all_o rank_n and_o condition_n of_o man_n for_o high_a and_o low_a and_o rich_a and_o poor_a noble_a and_o ignoble_a all_o be_v behold_v to_o jesus_n christ_n here_o there_o be_v neither_o greek_a nor_o jew_n circumcision_n nor_o uncircumcision_n barbarian_a scythian_a bond_n nor_o free_a but_o christ_n be_v all_o and_o in_o all_o col._n 3.11_o three_o bread_n of_o life_n and_o the_o water_n of_o life_n nay_o not_o only_a bread_n and_o water_n but_o he_o be_v clothing_n to_o the_o soul_n as_o it_o be_v in_o rom._n 13._o ult_n put_v you_o on_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n so_o that_o he_o be_v both_o food_n and_o spiritual_a clothing_n three_o bread_n though_o it_o satisfy_v your_o hunger_n for_o the_o present_a yet_o it_o can_v so_o take_v away_o your_o hunger_n that_o you_o shall_v hunger_n no_o more_o if_o it_o satisfy_v hunger_n to_o day_n you_o will_v be_v hungry_a again_o to_o morrow_n but_o now_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n do_v truth_n now_o their_o unbelief_n be_v the_o cause_n why_o they_o slight_a heaven_n and_o shall_v be_v deprive_v of_o heaven_n for_o the_o better_a explication_n of_o this_o doctrine_n there_o be_v two_o thing_n i_o shall_v open_v to_o you_o first_o what_o this_o unbelief_n be_v that_o make_v man_n so_o undervalue_v the_o heavenly_a canaan_n second_o why_o this_o unbelief_n be_v such_o a_o great_a and_o grievous_a sin_n so_o dangerous_a and_o destructive_a that_o it_o deprive_v man_n of_o that_o heavenly_a canaan_n first_o what_o this_o unbelief_n be_v that_o make_v man_n slight_v the_o this_o be_v a_o certain_a truth_n that_o they_o that_o do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n shall_v not_o only_o know_v more_o of_o god_n
will_n but_o they_o shall_v know_v it_o more_o assure_o they_o shall_v be_v sure_a of_o what_o they_o know_v and_o shall_v attain_v to_o this_o certainty_n of_o knowledge_n that_o i_o have_v be_v whether_o it_o be_v of_o god_n or_o whether_o i_o speak_v of_o myself_o all_o the_o knowledge_n that_o they_o have_v of_o the_o scripture_n it_o may_v be_v it_o be_v but_o a_o opinion_n or_o a_o conjecture_n or_o a_o guess_n a_o notional_a knowledge_n a_o knowledge_n that_o be_v take_v up_o upon_o tradition_n or_o trust_v not_o that_o they_o have_v any_o assurance_n of_o it_o in_o their_o own_o heart_n and_o understanding_n all_o the_o knowledge_n of_o sceptic_n those_o that_o you_o call_v seeker_n nullifidian_o that_o believe_v nothing_o all_o who_o profession_n be_v to_o profess_v nothing_o all_o their_o knowledge_n be_v but_o a_o mere_a opinion_n the_o truth_n be_v they_o have_v no_o knowledge_n at_o all_o if_o they_o do_v know_v the_o truth_n the_o truth_n will_v make_v they_o free_a if_o they_o have_v know_v the_o truth_n they_o will_v have_v be_v root_v and_o fettle_v and_o establish_v in_o it_o they_o will_v part_v with_o their_o life_n rather_o than_o part_v with_o the_o truth_n a_o second_o lesson_n you_o may_v learn_v hence_o be_v this_o it_o let_v we_o see_v what_o the_o reason_n be_v of_o all_o that_o atheism_n and_o looseness_n and_o libertinism_n the_o first_o step_n of_o the_o soul_n departure_n from_o god_n be_v by_o unbelief_n so_o the_o first_o step_n of_o the_o soul_n approach_v to_o god_n be_v by_o faith_n unbelief_n be_v the_o cause_n
