eternal_a life_n itself_o and_o therefore_o there_o be_v rest_n in_o it_o it_o be_v so_o far_o from_o get_v eternal_a life_n by_o it_o as_o it_o be_v rather_o eternal_a life_n itself_o than_o so_o much_o as_o any_o way_n to_o eternal_a life_n for_o this_o may_v be_v say_v though_o i_o perform_v duty_n it_o be_v true_a god_n have_v teach_v i_o so_o much_o that_o now_o under_o the_o gospel_n we_o must_v not_o think_v to_o get_v eternal_a life_n by_o our_o duty_n by_o our_o work_n this_o be_v popery_n yet_o it_o be_v the_o way_n to_o eternal_a life_n the_o way_n that_o tend_v to_o it_o it_o go_v a_o journey_n and_o know_v the_o end_n of_o his_o journey_n shall_v be_v very_o glorious_a to_o he_o if_o it_o be_v to_o receive_v a_o crown_n a_o kingdom_n though_o it_o be_v a_o boisterous_a day_n and_o stormy_a weather_n and_o the_o way_n be_v very_o foul_a he_o will_v not_o be_v trouble_v at_o it_o but_o he_o will_v account_v it_o very_o comfortable_a to_o know_v that_o he_o be_v in_o the_o way_n of_o eternal_a life_n but_o thou_o be_v in_o eternal_a life_n itself_o not_o only_o in_o the_o way_n to_o the_o kingdom_n but_o in_o the_o kingdom_n not_o only_o in_o the_o way_n to_o heaven_n but_o in_o heaven_n it_o be_v eternal_a life_n this_o be_v eternal_a life_n to_o know_v thou_o the_o true_a god_n and_o thy_o son_n who_o thou_o have_v send_v into_o the_o world_n and_o be_v press_v that_o be_v full_a of_o sheaf_n it_o be_v that_o which_o press_v down_o the_o angel_n to_o hell_n to_o be_v reserve_v in_o chain_n of_o darkness_n it_o be_v that_o which_o press_v down_o christ_n and_o make_v he_o sweat_v drop_n of_o blood_n and_o it_o be_v that_o that_o have_v be_v a_o great_a weight_n and_o burden_n upon_o many_o thousand_o of_o god_n saint_n it_o be_v that_o that_o the_o damn_a in_o hell_n lie_v under_o now_o and_o must_v do_v so_o eternal_o curse_v blaspheme_v of_o god_n it_o be_v that_o that_o make_v the_o whole_a creation_n to_o groan_v and_o travel_v in_o pain_n however_o many_o people_n think_v slight_o and_o mean_o of_o it_o yet_o when_o the_o lord_n do_v lay_v it_o upon_o any_o soul_n such_o a_o soul_n do_v find_v it_o to_o be_v a_o burden_n indeed_o chap._n iii_o the_o burden_n under_o sin_n lay_v open_a in_o nine_o particular_n 1._o when_o the_o soul_n not_o only_o apprehend_v but_o be_v sensible_a of_o the_o evil_a of_o sin_n in_o the_o reality_n of_o it_o 2._o find_v all_o the_o comfort_n that_o do_v attend_v sin_n before_o to_o vanish_v and_o come_v to_o nothing_o 3._o look_v upon_o itself_o as_o loathsome_a and_o be_v in_o some_o measure_n bow_v to_o god_n 4._o tremble_v at_o the_o least_o thought_n and_o temptation_n to_o sin_n 5._o feel_v sin_n heavy_a
burden_n to_o any_o man_n or_o woman_n that_o heretofore_o have_v assurance_n of_o god_n love_n and_o be_v able_a to_o look_v in_o god_n face_n with_o joy_n to_o have_v this_o assurance_n shake_v yea_o many_o time_n it_o make_v god_n withdraw_v his_o countenance_n which_o make_v david_n cry_v out_o restore_v to_o i_o the_o joy_n of_o thy_o salvation_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v lord_n i_o be_v wont_a to_o have_v joy_n in_o thy_o company_n in_o communion_n with_o thou_o but_o thou_o have_v estrange_v thyself_o from_o my_o soul_n o_o lord_n restore_v unto_o i_o the_o joy_n of_o thy_o salvation_n now_o be_v not_o this_o a_o burden_n for_o thou_o to_o loose_v the_o sweetness_n of_o thy_o soul_n in_o communion_n with_o god_n that_o now_o though_o it_o may_v be_v it_o be_v through_o upon_o thy_o spirit_n be_v not_o this_o a_o burden_n now_o then_o be_v there_o any_o poor_a soul_n that_o understand_v what_o these_o thing_n mean_v what_o a_o burden_n the_o remain_a corruption_n of_o the_o heart_n be_v either_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o sinfulness_n of_o nature_n or_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o stir_n of_o corruption_n or_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o prevail_a of_o corruption_n that_o now_o they_o have_v no_o rest_n in_o their_o soul_n but_o be_v lade_v with_o such_o a_o burden_n and_o cry_v out_o with_o the_o apostle_n oh_o wretched_a man_n and_o woman_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o let_v such_o a_o soul_n know_v that_o this_o text_n belong_v to_o they_o come_v unto_o i_o say_v christ_n and_o i_o will_v give_v you_o rest_v from_o this_o burden_n as_o well_o as_o the_o other_o burden_n and_o our_o rest_n be_v only_o in_o christ_n from_o this_o as_o well_o as_o the_o burden_n of_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n the_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n and_o the_o other_o burden_n that_o have_v be_v speak_v unto_o chap._n xvi_o why_o the_o saint_n feel_v these_o thing_n so_o burdensome_a namely_o 1._o because_o the_o life_n of_o grace_n be_v a_o tender_a and_o needs_o be_v sensible_a of_o this_o burden_n of_o corruption_n according_a to_o what_o degree_n it_o do_v remain_v in_o the_o soul_n as_o thus_o you_o know_v a_o man_n or_o woman_n the_o more_o delicate_a and_o tender_a they_o be_v in_o their_o flesh_n have_v have_v very_o curious_a bring_v up_o or_o it_o may_v be_v their_o natural_a spirit_n be_v very_o delicate_a more_o than_o other_o man_n some_o man_n their_o natural_a spirit_n be_v more_o gross_a and_o can_v bear_v burden_n with_o less_o sense_n but_o now_o those_o that_o be_v more_o fine_a and_o delicate_a if_o you_o lay_v a_o burden_n upon_o they_o oh_o how_o burdensome_a be_v it_o unto_o they_o now_o grace_n make_v the_o constitution_n to_o be_v delicate_a fine_a and_o pure_a a_o pure_a constitution_n it_o put_v the_o heart_n into_o a_o most_o pure_a constitution_n and_o therefore_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v sensible_a of_o the_o evil_a of_o sin_n according_a to_o the_o remainer_n of_o it_o second_o where_o grace_n be_v corruption_n must_v needs_o be_v very_o burdensome_a in_o this_o regard_n also_o because_o that_o grace_n keep_v the_o soul_n in_o continual_a action_n and_o stir_v now_o look_v as_o a_o man_n that_o have_v a_o leg_n that_o be_v break_v if_o he_o can_v lie_v still_o and_o never_o stir_v it_o will_v not_o be_v so_o grievous_a and_o burdensome_a to_o he_o the_o pain_n and_o break_n of_o his_o leg_n will_v not_o be_v so_o burdensome_a if_o he_o can_v lie_v still_o but_o if_o this_o man_n who_o leg_n be_v break_v must_v be_v stir_v walk_a and_o go_v up_o and_o down_o oh_o how_o burdensome_a be_v it_o that_o his_o leg_n be_v break_v so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o soul_n it_o be_v true_a if_o the_o soul_n may_v be_v still_o a_o sleep_n and_o do_v nothing_o then_o though_o there_o be_v corruption_n in_o they_o it_o will_v not_o be_v so_o grievous_a i_o but_o grace_n wherever_o it_o be_v put_v the_o soul_n unto_o action_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v call_v the_o divine_a nature_n because_o it_o be_v active_a it_o put_v the_o soul_n on_o to_o be_v act_v for_o god_n and_o in_o the_o way_n of_o life_n now_o grace_n put_v the_o soul_n to_o be_v act_v and_o corruption_n that_o be_v as_o the_o break_n of_o the_o bone_n it_o must_v needs_o be_v very_o burdensome_a that_o which_o most_o hinder_v their_o activity_n of_o grace_n must_v needs_o be_v very_o burdensome_a you_o have_v need_v therefore_o take_v heed_n what_o you_o do_v when_o temptation_n to_o sin_n come_v take_v heed_n you_o do_v not_o break_v your_o bone_n and_o your_o leg_n why_o because_o when_o you_o have_v break_v they_o you_o must_v be_v still_o stir_v and_o act_v for_o god_n a_o poor_a man_n it_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n worse_o for_o he_o if_o he_o break_v his_o leg_n than_o a_o rich_a man_n a_o rich_a man_n may_v sit_v by_o the_o fire_n or_o lie_v in_o his_o bed_n a_o month_n together_o but_o a_o poor_a man_n if_o he_o break_v his_o leg_n he_o do_v not_o know_v what_o to_o do_v he_o must_v to_o work_n perhaps_o he_o can_v have_v that_o harbour_n that_o a_o rich_a man_n may_v have_v so_o i_o say_v those_o that_o be_v of_o sluggish_a spirit_n though_o corruption_n prevail_v it_o be_v not_o so_o grievous_a unto_o they_o but_o those_o that_o be_v of_o active_a spirit_n and_o have_v grace_n and_o the_o more_o grace_n that_o any_o man_n or_o woman_n have_v the_o more_o burdensome_a their_o corruption_n be_v because_o the_o more_o grace_n there_o be_v in_o the_o soul_n the_o more_o active_a it_o will_v be_v for_o god_n quest_n but_o you_o will_v say_v see_v the_o remain_v of_o corruption_n in_o the_o heurt_n of_o the_o saint_n be_v so_o burdensome_a why_o do_v god_n so_o order_v thing_n in_o his_o providence_n as_o his_o own_o dear_a saint_n shall_v be_v so_o trouble_v with_o their_o corruption_n while_o they_o live_v in_o this_o world_n god_n can_v deliver_v they_o from_o their_o corruption_n why_o will_v god_n make_v they_o cry_v out_o o_o wretched_a man_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o this_o body_n of_o death_n god_n can_v as_o well_o perfect_a our_o sanctification_n as_o our_o justification_n why_o do_v god_n thus_o order_v thing_n in_o his_o providence_n that_o his_o own_o dear_a saint_n shall_v groan_v under_o such_o a_o burden_n of_o corruption_n all_o their_o day_n answ_n for_o that_o brief_o thus_o though_o it_o be_v true_a that_o god_n can_v present_o take_v all_o our_o corruption_n as_o soon_o as_o ever_o we_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n god_n can_v deliver_v we_o from_o our_o corruption_n but_o the_o lord_n will_v ocean_n of_o corruption_n that_o it_o can_v uphold_v poor_a weak_a creature_n under_o such_o burden_n and_o carry_v they_o on_o notwithstanding_o and_o bring_v they_o to_o eternal_a life_n the_o power_n and_o grace_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o power_n of_o god_n be_v as_o much_o manifest_v in_o this_o thing_n as_o it_o be_v in_o keep_v heaven_n
outward_a affliction_n man_n be_v so_o sensible_a of_o that_o there_o need_v not_o much_o for_o the_o open_n of_o they_o but_o only_o to_o tell_v all_o that_o feel_v these_o burden_n that_o they_o may_v come_v unto_o this_o promise_n yea_o and_o they_o be_v under_o this_o invitation_n christ_n invite_v they_o to_o come_v to_o he_o for_o rest_n for_o these_o burden_n first_o outward_a affliction_n be_v burden_n because_o they_o be_v in_o themselves_o part_n of_o the_o curse_n of_o the_o law_n and_o if_o they_o be_v sanctify_v to_o any_o it_o be_v by_o virtue_n of_o this_o promise_n in_o the_o text_n if_o any_o affliction_n upon_o you_o be_v sanctify_v it_o be_v thence_o before_o you_o come_v to_o christ_n all_o outward_a affliction_n poverty_n sickness_n or_o any_o disturbance_n you_o have_v in_o your_o estate_n it_o be_v in_o itself_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o curse_n and_o be_v so_o to_o you_o till_o you_o come_v to_o christ_n now_o to_o bear_v that_o that_o be_v in_o itself_o a_o fruit_n of_o the_o curse_n must_v needs_o be_v a_o burden_n because_o it_o be_v so_o contrary_a to_o nature_n most_o afflictive_a to_o nature_n therefore_o burdensome_a second_o outward_a therefore_o a_o burden_n not_o because_o i_o can_v live_v so_o brave_o as_o other_o do_v and_o have_v as_o fine_a house_n clothes_n and_o diet_n as_o other_o have_v no_o but_o because_o i_o must_v spend_v all_o my_o time_n mere_o in_o get_v provision_n for_o my_o family_n that_o i_o have_v little_a time_n for_o god_n service_n other_o can_v spend_v time_n in_o god_n service_n hear_v pray_v and_o meditate_v but_o the_o chief_a time_n that_o i_o have_v to_o spend_v be_v spend_v to_o get_v bread_n now_o this_o be_v a_o burden_n and_o beside_o because_o of_o poverty_n i_o have_v little_a opportunity_n to_o do_v service_n for_o god_n those_o that_o have_v large_a estate_n they_o have_v opportunity_n to_o do_v god_n service_n they_o be_v call_v forth_o to_o public_a service_n but_o i_o be_o not_o so_o as_o other_o be_v now_o this_o be_v that_o that_o to_o one_o that_o have_v any_o beginning_n of_o grace_n in_o his_o heart_n be_v a_o great_a burden_n and_o by_o the_o way_n it_o be_v a_o good_a argument_n of_o true_a grace_n if_o you_o that_o be_v under_o the_o burden_n of_o affliction_n if_o you_o feel_v the_o burden_n where_o it_o lie_v i_o appeal_v to_o you_o that_o complain_v content_a to_o bear_v this_o burden_n i_o say_v if_o thou_o have_v a_o heart_n thus_o complain_v of_o thy_o burden_n it_o be_v a_o good_a sign_n and_o know_v that_o in_o christ_n there_o be_v and_o come_v to_o christ_n first_o know_v that_o thou_o do_v not_o stand_v and_o fall_v for_o thy_o eternal_a estate_n by_o the_o law_n that_o be_v the_o first_o ease_n and_o rest_v the_o law_n indeed_o may_v threaten_v thou_o and_o dreadful_a thing_n may_v be_v reveal_v by_o it_o against_o thou_o but_o be_v of_o good_a comfort_n in_o this_o thy_o eternal_a estate_n shall_v not_o be_v cast_v by_o it_o it_o be_v full_a of_o severity_n but_o thou_o be_v so_o far_o free_a that_o whereas_o before_o thou_o do_v depend_v and_o rely_v upon_o that_o for_o thy_o eternal_a condition_n now_o thou_o be_v out_o of_o the_o power_n out_o of_o the_o reach_n of_o it_o so_o far_o that_o it_o have_v not_o to_o do_v with_o thou_o to_o cast_v thy_o soul_n for_o thy_o eternal_a estate_n we_o will_v not_o be_v at_o the_o dispose_n of_o any_o man_n that_o we_o look_v upon_o as_o full_a of_o severity_n and_o rigour_n in_o matter_n of_o great_a consequence_n but_o we_o do_v desire_v rather_o to_o be_v in_o such_o case_n at_o the_o dispose_n of_o man_n who_o be_v full_a of_o pity_n and_o compassion_n know_v o_o thou_o believer_n who_o be_v in_o christ_n that_o thou_o be_v not_o at_o the_o dispose_n of_o the_o law_n that_o be_v full_a of_o severity_n for_o thy_o everlasting_a condition_n but_o thou_o be_v at_o the_o dispose_n of_o the_o gospel_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n that_o be_v fill_v as_o full_a with_o mercy_n and_o compassion_n as_o a_o infinite_a wisdom_n can_v devise_v it_o have_v that_o fullness_n of_o compassion_n more_o than_o possible_o all_o the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o angel_n in_o heaven_n and_o man_n upon_o earth_n can_v ever_o have_v devise_v or_o think_v on_o beyond_o their_o imagination_n now_o for_o one_o to_o be_v at_o the_o dispose_n of_o a_o man_n in_o matter_n of_o the_o great_a concernment_n that_o have_v as_o much_o mercy_n in_o he_o as_o ever_o man_n have_v in_o this_o world_n yea_o as_o much_o mercy_n in_o he_o as_o be_v in_o all_o the_o man_n in_o the_o world_n if_o all_o the_o mercy_n that_o be_v in_o all_o the_o man_n in_o the_o world_n be_v put_v into_o one_o the_o heart_n of_o one_o man_n and_o you_o be_v to_o be_v at_o his_o dispose_n in_o a_o matter_n of_o the_o great_a concernment_n you_o will_v think_v yourselves_o well_o whereas_o before_o you_o lay_v at_o the_o mercy_n of_o a_o man_n that_o be_v very_o rigorous_a and_o full_a of_o severity_n now_o you_o come_v to_o lie_v at_o the_o mercy_n of_o a_o man_n that_o have_v all_o the_o bowel_n and_o tender_a compassion_n of_o all_o the_o man_n in_o the_o world_n will_v you_o not_o think_v this_o a_o good_a change_n this_o be_v the_o change_n and_o the_o rest_n that_o thou_o have_v when_o thou_o come_v to_o christ_n whereas_o thy_o soul_n thy_o eternal_a estate_n lay_v at_o the_o dispose_n of_o the_o law_n that_o be_v full_a of_o rigour_n and_o severity_n now_o thy_o eternal_a estate_n do_v depend_v upon_o a_o covenant_n that_o be_v as_o full_a of_o grace_n and_o mercy_n as_o thy_o soul_n can_v desire_v thy_o soul_n can_v desire_v a_o covenant_n to_o be_v full_a of_o grace_n and_o mercy_n than_o that_o covenant_n that_o thy_o everlasting_a estate_n depend_v upon_o and_o must_v be_v cast_v by_o and_o be_v not_o here_o rest_v now_o for_o a_o believer_n if_o he_o do_v understand_v this_o aright_o that_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n wherein_o the_o rest_n of_o a_o believer_n consist_v by_o christ_n as_o be_v free_v from_o the_o law_n 2_o
poor_a trouble_a soul_n who_o conscience_n pull_v they_o on_o to_o duty_n but_o why_o do_v they_o perform_v they_o because_o conscience_n accuse_v they_o for_o their_o sin_n and_o they_o know_v what_o need_n they_o have_v of_o god_n mercy_n they_o stand_v guilty_a before_o god_n and_o therefore_o they_o perform_v duty_n that_o they_o may_v get_v a_o pardon_n and_o they_o know_v that_o they_o be_v make_v for_o eternity_n and_o therefore_o they_o make_v conscience_n of_o duty_n that_o they_o may_v get_v eternal_a life_n by_o they_o as_o i_o when_o i_o open_v show_v the_o burden_n that_o there_o be_v in_o legal_a performance_n but_o now_o when_o the_o soul_n come_v to_o christ_n it_o have_v rest_n in_o this_o for_o the_o very_a first_o thing_n that_o be_v do_v in_o christ_n be_v that_o all_o thy_o sin_n be_v discharge_v the_o pardon_n be_v grant_v and_o thou_o be_v put_v into_o a_o estate_n safe_a for_o thy_o eternal_a life_n and_o all_o the_o hazard_n of_o eternal_a life_n be_v now_o over_o now_o then_o that_o that_o be_v require_v of_o thou_o be_v only_o as_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o pardon_n of_o thy_o sin_n and_o as_o a_o fruit_n of_o thy_o safe_a condition_n that_o thou_o be_v put_v into_o for_o thy_o eternal_a life_n and_o here_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o difference_n between_o perform_v of_o duty_n that_o i_o may_v have_v pardon_n that_o i_o may_v get_v eternal_a life_n by_o it_o and_o perform_v of_o duty_n as_o a_o fruit_n of_o my_o pardon_n and_o as_o a_o fruit_n of_o the_o assurance_n of_o my_o well_o be_v to_o all_o eternity_n as_o for_o instance_n a_o man_n that_o be_v in_o danger_n of_o his_o life_n stand_v before_o the_o judge_n and_o there_o be_v no_o way_n for_o pardon_n for_o he_o but_o he_o have_v his_o book_n give_v to_o he_o as_o you_o know_v the_o way_n be_v to_o have_v the_o benefit_n of_o the_o clergy_n as_o we_o use_v to_o call_v it_o now_o when_o he_o know_v if_o he_o read_v he_o shall_v have_v his_o life_n but_o life_n lie_v upon_o it_o and_o the_o judge_n be_v strict_a and_o set_v one_o by_o he_o that_o the_o ordinary_a shall_v not_o prompt_v he_o and_o he_o will_v have_v he_o read_v out_o and_o his_o life_n lie_v upon_o it_o i_o suppose_v you_o have_v hear_v of_o some_o that_o be_v able_a scholar_n and_o able_a to_o read_v well_o enough_o at_o other_o time_n yet_o at_o such_o a_o time_n be_v not_o able_a to_o read_v one_o word_n for_o a_o world_n but_o suppose_v this_o man_n now_o have_v his_o pardon_n and_o you_o then_o put_v he_o to_o read_v than_o he_o can_v read_v with_o delight_n he_o have_v freedom_n enough_o now_o to_o read_v his_o eye_n that_o be_v bind_v before_o be_v loosen_a now_o suppose_v he_o be_v to_o read_v a_o psalm_n of_o mercy_n before_o he_o have_v his_o pardon_n and_o when_o he_o have_v his_o pardon_n there_o be_v a_o psalm_n of_o thankfulness_n for_o his_o life_n give_v he_o to_o read_v he_o can_v read_v it_o then_o with_o delight_n just_o thus_o it_o be_v with_o those_o that_o perform_v duty_n in_o a_o legal_a way_n they_o stand_v before_o god_n as_o their_o judge_n and_o look_v upon_o what_o they_o perform_v as_o that_o which_o their_o soul_n depend_v upon_o that_o if_o i_o do_v not_o do_v such_o and_o such_o thing_n that_o be_v command_v i_o my_o soul_n lie_v upon_o it_o alas_o this_o straiten_n the_o heart_n and_o it_o be_v put_v into_o a_o condition_n of_o fear_n but_o now_o when_o the_o soul_n be_v come_v to_o christ_n and_o the_o lord_n have_v grant_v pardon_n to_o it_o and_o have_v quiet_v it_o by_o the_o blood_n of_o his_o son_n now_o say_v god_n read_v perform_v duty_n and_o let_v all_o the_o duty_n you_o perform_v be_v in_o way_n of_o blessing_n my_o name_n and_o praise_v of_o i_o for_o give_v of_o you_o your_o life_n and_o indeed_o this_o be_v the_o principal_a ground_n of_o all_o that_o god_n require_v of_o such_o as_o be_v come_v to_o christ_n mere_o that_o thou_o shall_v go_v out_o before_o the_o lord_n in_o way_n of_o thankfulness_n for_o pardon_v thy_o sin_n and_o accept_v of_o thou_o in_o his_o son_n and_o so_o likewise_o if_o so_o be_v a_o man_n be_v among_o his_o enemy_n and_o shall_v be_v set_v to_o do_v some_o work_n and_o business_n and_o be_v set_v so_o to_o it_o that_o if_o he_o do_v not_o do_v it_o he_o be_v a_o dead_a man_n they_o will_v have_v his_o life_n if_o he_o do_v not_o do_v it_o alas_o he_o go_v about_o it_o with_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o dread_n and_o fear_n but_o now_o if_o this_o man_n shall_v come_v home_o to_o his_o father_n house_n and_o his_o father_n set_v he_o about_o a_o work_n and_o he_o do_v it_o so_o that_o though_o he_o will_v not_o do_v the_o work_n yet_o he_o shall_v not_o loose_v his_o life_n he_o shall_v go_v about_o it_o with_o a_o great_a deal_n more_o freedom_n of_o spirit_n thus_o it_o be_v with_o believer_n when_o they_o come_v to_o christ_n they_o come_v to_o their_o father_n house_n and_o their_o father_n set_v they_o about_o work_n but_o so_o as_o he_o will_v not_o lay_v their_o life_n upon_o it_o their_o soul_n do_v not_o lie_v upon_o their_o duty_n thy_o eternal_a estate_n do_v not_o lie_v upon_o duty_n as_o heretofore_o you_o have_v hear_v in_o be_v free_v from_o the_o law_n so_o now_o make_v use_n of_o it_o in_o deliverance_n from_o legal_a performance_n that_o the_o lord_n though_o he_o will_v be_v strict_a to_o mark_v what_o be_v do_v in_o every_o duty_n he_o will_v not_o be_v strict_a to_o take_v advantage_n of_o thou_o it_o be_v true_a it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o lord_n spare_v not_o his_o own_o son_n but_o he_o will_v spare_v thou_o in_o malachy_n 3.17_o the_o lord_n will_v spare_v they_o as_o a_o man_n spare_v his_o own_o son_n hat_n serve_v he_o and_o so_o in_o the_o roman_n it_o be_v say_v god_n do_v not_o spare_v his_o own_o son_n and_o yet_o in_o malachy_n that_o he_o will_v spare_v thou_o as_o a_o man_n spare_v his_o only_a son_n that_o serve_v he_o what_o shall_v be_v the_o meaning_n of_o this_o that_o god_n shall_v not_o spare_v his_o only_o beget_v son_n the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n he_o will_v not_o spare_v he_o but_o thou_o this_o be_v the_o reason_n he_o do_v not_o spare_v he_o that_o he_o may_v spare_v thou_o here_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o god_n will_v so_o spare_v thou_o in_o the_o performance_n of_o thy_o duty_n because_o he_o will_v not_o spare_v his_o son_n he_o be_v so_o exact_a to_o he_o that_o he_o may_v not_o be_v so_o exact_a to_o thou_o indeed_o when_o christ_n come_v to_o perform_v duty_n the_o life_n of_o all_o the_o world_n lay_v upon_o that_o that_o if_o christ_n have_v fail_v in_o one_o thing_n the_o life_n of_o all_o the_o world_n lie_v upon_o it_o yet_o so_o they_o lie_v upon_o he_o that_o they_o be_v not_o grievous_a to_o he_o because_o he_o be_v most_o able_a to_o perform_v it_o but_o thou_o must_v make_v use_n of_o christ_n performance_n in_o way_n of_o obedience_n so_o as_o to_o give_v thou_o rest_v &_o ease_v in_o performance_n of_o thy_o duty_n think_v thus_o i_o come_v now_o to_o perform_v duty_n and_o thanks_n be_v to_o god_n my_o life_n my_o eternal_a estate_n lie_v not_o upon_o it_o but_o christ_n what_o he_o perform_v my_o soul_n and_o all_o the_o world_n lie_v vyon_n what_o he_o do_v and_o the_o weight_n that_o christ_n be_v willing_a to_o take_v upon_o he_o in_o his_o obedience_n be_v that_o which_o make_v any_o obedience_n so_o easy_a and_o comfortable_a to_o i_o i_o remember_v we_o read_v in_o the_o law_n that_o in_o peace_n offering_n a_o female_a be_v accept_v in_o other_o case_n ordinary_o god_n require_v the_o male_a but_o in_o peace_n offering_n the_o female_a now_o peace_n offering_n be_v for_o thanksgiving_n and_o indeed_o the_o whole_a life_n of_o a_o christian_a be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o peace-offering_a his_o whole_a conversation_n all_o the_o duty_n that_o god_n require_v of_o any_o christian_n it_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o peace_n offer_v to_o offer_v a_o offering_n of_o thanksgiving_n for_o the_o mercy_n he_o have_v receive_v from_o christ_n in_o this_o peace_n offer_v the_o lord_n accept_v of_o a_o female_a though_o it_o be_v but_o weak_a and_o this_o be_v the_o six_o thing_n wherein_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o soul_n in_o the_o performance_n of_o holy_a duty_n when_o it_o be_v once_o come_v to_o christ_n do_v consist_v seven_o as_o the_o soul_n do_v not_o perform_v duty_n that_o it_o may_v get_v life_n thereby_o it_o be_v not_o in_o that_o way_n now_o so_o the_o performance_n of_o duty_n when_o the_o soul_n be_v come_v to_o christ_n be_v a_o part_n of_o
of_o the_o father_n and_o thorough_o plead_v their_o cause_n four_o in_o thy_o spiritual_a desertion_n thou_o must_v look_v up_o to_o christ_n to_o seek_v the_o fulfil_n of_o that_o promise_n of_o he_o that_o he_o make_v to_o his_o disciple_n to_o send_v to_o they_o the_o comforter_n when_o christ_n be_v to_o leave_v his_o disciple_n he_o say_v be_v of_o good_a cheer_n i_o will_v send_v the_o comforter_n to_o you_o and_o therefore_o be_v of_o good_a cheer_n christ_n do_v comfort_v his_o disciple_n against_o his_o absence_n he_o be_v to_o go_v from_o they_o and_o leave_v they_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o bodily_a presence_n now_o christ_n be_v so_o careful_a of_o his_o poor_a servant_n that_o when_o he_o be_v to_o leave_v they_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o bodily_a presence_n he_o tell_v they_o he_o will_v send_v the_o comforter_n to_o they_o that_o be_v the_o holy_a ghost_n shall_v come_v so_o much_o the_o more_o full_o and_o he_o shall_v manifest_v i_o unto_o you_o now_o plead_v this_o promise_n of_o the_o lord_n christ_n in_o the_o time_n of_o spiritual_a desertion_n and_o say_v oh_o bless_a redeemer_n be_v thou_o careful_a of_o thy_o disciple_n that_o when_o thou_o be_v to_o leave_v they_o in_o regard_n of_o bodily_a presence_n that_o thou_o will_v send_v the_o holy_a ghost_n that_o shall_v come_v to_o testify_v of_o thou_o and_o reveal_v thou_o to_o they_o and_o bring_v thing_n to_o remembrance_n oh_o much_o more_o will_v thou_o have_v compassion_n of_o a_o poor_a soul_n from_o who_o thou_o be_v absent_a in_o a_o spiritual_a way_n it_o be_v a_o great_a affliction_n to_o want_v thou_o o_o bless_a redeemer_n in_o a_o spiritual_a way_n then_o to_o want_v thy_o bodily_a presence_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o need_n that_o the_o comforter_n shall_v come_v in_o now_o to_o supply_v the_o want_n of_o spiritual_a presence_n then_o bodily_a presence_n five_o in_o the_o time_n of_o spiritual_a desertion_n if_o thou_o can_v find_v no_o evidence_n at_o all_o nothing_o at_o all_o to_o satisfy_v thy_o soul_n then_o go_v to_o christ_n in_o the_o very_a same_o way_n that_o thou_o wente_v to_o he_o at_o first_o better_a to_o do_v so_o then_o to_o lie_v grovel_v and_o sink_v under_o thy_o burden_n if_o thou_o think_v that_o yet_o thou_o have_v nothing_o that_o all_o be_v nothing_o all_o be_v lose_v and_o the_o like_a go_v again_o in_o the_o same_o way_n that_o thou_o wente_v at_o first_o unto_o christ_n thou_o be_v not_o in_o a_o worse_a condition_n than_o thou_o be_v then_o when_o thou_o be_v a_o enemy_n and_o thou_o find_v ease_v and_o rest_n in_o he_o at_o first_o now_o renew_v that_o work_n that_o there_o be_v in_o thy_o soul_n at_o the_o very_a first_o there_o be_v many_o people_n in_o the_o time_n of_o spiritual_a affliction_n and_o desertion_n they_o spend_v so_o much_o time_n in_o look_v after_o old_a evidence_n whereas_o the_o truth_n be_v they_o may_v get_v new_a one_o soon_o than_o the_o old_a one_o as_o sometime_o a_o man_n may_v spend_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o time_n in_o look_v after_o a_o old_a key_n of_o a_o box_n then_o in_o make_v a_o new_a one_o he_o may_v make_v a_o new_a key_n with_o a_o great_a deal_n less_o trouble_n and_o it_o will_v not_o be_v so_o much_o prejudice_n to_o he_o to_o have_v a_o new_a key_n make_v as_o to_o look_v the_o old_a one_o he_o may_v look_v up_o and_o down_o and_o spend_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o time_n that_o may_v be_v more_o worth_a then_o to_o make_v a_o new_a one_o so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o soul_n in_o time_n of_o trouble_n and_o under_o spiritual_a desertion_n it_o be_v look_v about_o for_o its_o old_a evidence_n and_o to_o such_o and_o such_o work_n of_o grace_n and_o can_v find_v they_o and_o be_v pore_v and_o can_v be_v at_o quiet_a till_o it_o can_v find_v those_o former_a sign_n and_o mark_n that_o he_o have_v before_o i_o say_v such_o and_o such_o may_v soon_o get_v new_a one_o then_o find_v the_o old_a one_o if_o a_o man_n have_v write_n perhaps_o he_o can_v find_v such_o a_o writing_n he_o may_v be_v at_o less_o charge_n to_o have_v new_a one_o write_v over_o again_o then_o to_o look_v the_o old_a one_o so_o thou_o want_v the_o evidence_n of_o thy_o grace_n and_o can_v not_o find_v they_o i_o say_v renew_v thy_o grace_n upon_o christ_n again_o and_o thou_o may_v get_v thy_o evidence_n new_o write_v over_o again_o and_o have_v it_o with_o less_o cost_n then_o to_o look_v after_o the_o old_a one_o six_o be_v sure_a in_o time_n of_o thy_o desertion_n to_o keep_v good_a thought_n of_o god_n though_o thou_o have_v no_o comfort_n in_o they_o for_o the_o present_a yet_o believe_v it_o there_o be_v comfort_n in_o christ_n and_o whatever_o become_v of_o thou_o acknowledge_v christ_n to_o be_v faithful_a christ_n be_v to_o be_v thy_o lord_n and_o thy_o king_n and_o let_v thy_o heart_n love_v he_o and_o strive_v at_o the_o least_o â—o_o do_v so_o it_o be_v true_a the_o sense_n of_o his_o love_n will_v inflame_v love_n again_o yet_o at_o that_o time_n when_o thou_o can_v not_o have_v the_o sense_n of_o his_o love_n yet_o resolve_v to_o love_v he_o and_o love_v his_o way_n you_o know_v christ_n when_o god_n seem_v to_o forsake_v he_o yet_o at_o that_o time_n when_o he_o be_v upon_o the_o cross_n when_o human_a nature_n can_v not_o but_o see_v he_o have_v need_n of_o god_n presence_n but_o then_o he_o cry_v out_o my_o god_n my_o god_n and_o so_o in_o psalm_n 88_o the_o example_n of_o heman_n o_o god_n of_o my_o salvation_n he_o speak_v yet_o still_o well_o of_o god_n and_o call_v god_n the_o god_n of_o his_o salvation·_n o_o god_n of_o my_o salvation_n he_o speak_v yet_o still_o well_o of_o god_n and_o call_v god_n the_o god_n of_o his_o salvation_n o_o god_n of_o my_o salvation_n still_o keep_v good_a thought_n of_o god_n and_o so_o the_o church_n in_o the_o canticle_n when_o christ_n have_v withdraw_v himself_o from_o she_o yet_o she_o will_v call_v he_o her_o belove_a and_o go_v up_o and_o down_o ask_v for_o her_o belove_a and_o where_o her_o belove_a be_v so_o let_v the_o soul_n in_o time_n of_o desertion_n keep_v good_a thought_n of_o god_n seven_o and_o last_o if_o thou_o can_v not_o have_v rest_n in_o christ_n resolve_v thou_o will_v never_o find_v rest_n in_o nothing_o else_o that_o thy_o heart_n shall_v be_v restless_a till_o thou_o have_v rest_n in_o christ_n perhaps_o in_o the_o time_n of_o desertion_n there_o come_v one_o to_o thou_o and_o say_v christ_n have_v forsake_v thou_o go_v and_o have_v comfort_n elsewhere_o look_v for_o it_o other_o where_o or_o may_v be_v the_o tempter_n will_v come_v to_o a_o poor_a desert_a soul_n as_o he_o do_v to_o christ_n in_o matth._n 4._o when_o christ_n be_v a_o hungry_a then_o come_v the_o tempter_n to_o he_o and_o say_v command_v that_o these_o stone_n be_v make_v bread_n as_o if_o the_o tempter_n shall_v say_v thus_o do_v do_v not_o you_o see_v how_o your_o father_n have_v forsake_v you_o that_o he_o will_v not_o afford_v you_o bread_n take_v a_o course_n for_o yourself_o so_o here_o just_o thus_o it_o be_v for_o all_o the_o world_n with_o a_o trouble_a soul_n the_o soul_n be_v trouble_v the_o lord_n be_v withdraw_v from_o the_o soul_n and_o now_o come_v the_o tempter_n and_o say_v you_o see_v you_o can_v have_v comfort_n you_o have_v pray_v all_o this_o while_n and_o you_o can_v get_v comfort_n peace_n and_o rest_v now_o therefore_o seek_v for_o rest_n elsewhere_o oh_o take_v heed_n of_o this_o a_o desert_a soul_n shall_v abandon_v such_o temptation_n and_o resolve_v that_o it_o will_v be_v content_a to_o be_v in_o a_o restless_a condition_n to_o all_o eternity_n if_o it_o can_v have_v rest_n here_o as_o it_o be_v with_o those_o that_o do_v ill_a office_n if_o there_o be_v any_o breach_n between_o father_n and_o child_n or_o one_o friend_n and_o another_o they_o take_v the_o advantage_n of_o that_o and_o say_v do_v not_o you_o see_v your_o father_n regard_v you_o not_o though_o you_o be_v in_o such_o need_n he_o will_v not_o regard_v you_o nor_o help_v you_o come_v therefore_o and_o take_v my_o counsel_n i_o will_v show_v you_o how_o you_o shall_v live_v a_o better_a life_n and_o so_o when_o they_o will_v withdraw_v one_o friend_n from_o another_o those_o that_o will_v do_v ill_a office_n they_o go_v and_o take_v advantage_n of_o the_o breach_n so_o and_o earth_n upon_o the_o frame_n or_o keep_v it_o in_o be_v the_o lord_n do_v not_o appear_v more_o to_o be_v a_o almighty_a god_n in_o keep_v heaven_n and_o earth_n in_o be_v than_o he_o do_v appear_v to_o be_v a_o almighty_a god_n in_o keep_v grace_n alive_a in_o the_o heart_n notwithstanding_o all_o the_o remainder_n of_o corruption_n so_o that_o in_o this_o god_n have_v glory_n in_o another_o way_n than_o he_o have_v from_o the_o angel_n in_o heaven_n the_o power_n of_o god_n appear_v in_o uphold_v of_o the_o angel_n for_o if_o he_o do_v not_o uphold_v they_o they_o will_v fall_v into_o evil_n as_o adam_n and_o the_o other_o angel_n do_v but_o therein_o appear_v god_n glorious_a power_n to_o uphold_v the_o angel_n but_o the_o glorious_a power_n in_o uphold_v the_o angel_n do_v not_o so_o much_o appear_v as_o the_o glorious_a power_n of_o god_n in_o uphold_v the_o heart_n of_o the_o saint_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o their_o corruption_n this_o shall_v be_v a_o special_a argument_n that_o the_o saint_n shall_v praise_v god_n for_o to_o all_o eternity_n when_o they_o shall_v look_v back_o and_o see_v what_o a_o condition_n they_o be_v in_o before_o their_o conversion_n yea_o in_o their_o conversion_n that_o though_o god_n grant_v they_o some_o grace_n yet_o what_o abundance_n of_o corruption_n be_v in_o their_o heart_n all_o that_o time_n and_o what_o a_o deal_n of_o stir_n they_o have_v to_o maintain_v that_o little_a grace_n they_o will_v stand_v and_o admire_v to_o consider_v that_o it_o shall_v be_v keep_v alive_a in_o the_o midst_n of_o sin_n that_o a_o little_a spark_n shall_v be_v keep_v alive_a in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o sea_n not_o only_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o sea_n but_o when_o the_o sea_n be_v tempestuous_a you_o yil_v say_v it_o be_v no_o great_a wonder_n that_o the_o fire_n be_v keep_v burn_v when_o the_o sea_n be_v calm_a but_o when_o all_o be_v in_o a_o storm_n and_o yet_o a_o spark_n of_o fire_n shall_v be_v keep_v alive_a in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o the_o toss_n of_o the_o wave_n you_o will_v grant_v here_o be_v a_o mighty_a power_n now_o the_o keep_v alive_a of_o grace_n in_o thy_o heart_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o so_o much_o corruption_n do_v argue_v as_o mighty_a a_o power_n in_o god_n 2._o the_o lord_n do_v so_o order_v it_o that_o still_o his_o own_o people_n shall_v be_v under_o the_o burden_n of_o much_o coruption_n in_o this_o regard_n because_o that_o hereby_o the_o lord_n draw_v forth_o the_o exercise_n of_o faith_n in_o his_o son_n in_o which_o his_o soul_n take_v infinite_a delight_n the_o soul_n of_o god_n take_v infinite_a delight_n in_o behold_v the_o work_n of_o the_o glorious_a grace_n of_o faith_n in_o jesus_n christ_n but_o you_o will_v say_v wherein_o do_v it_o appear_v to_o be_v so_o glorious_a in_o regard_n of_o our_o corruption_n thus_o for_o the_o angel_n in_o heaven_n to_o believe_v in_o god_n that_o he_o will_v be_v eternal_o good_a to_o they_o it_o be_v not_o so_o much_o as_o for_o a_o poor_a soul_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o his_o corruption_n yet_o to_o be_v able_a to_o triumph_v in_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n notwithstanding_o i_o be_o so_o vild_a filthy_a loathsome_a and_o abominable_a to_o myself_o and_o just_o god_n and_o his_o saint_n may_v count_v i_o a_o burden_n to_o they_o and_o cast_v i_o off_o for_o ever_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o my_o soul_n shall_v cling_v to_o he_o i_o will_v cast_v myself_o upon_o he_o and_o look_v upon_o he_o as_o a_o gracious_a father_n a_o merciful_a god_n a_o god_n that_o love_v i_o a_o god_n that_o rejoice_v in_o do_v good_a to_o i_o for_o the_o soul_n to_o exercise_v faith_n in_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n it_o be_v a_o glorious_a thing_n only_o take_v heed_n you_o do_v not_o mistake_v it_o for_o presumption_n object_n you_o will_v say_v for_o man_n notwithstanding_o all_o their_o sin_n to_o believe_v in_o god_n mercy_n this_o be_v rather_o presumption_n than_o faith_n answ_n true_o it_o be_v presumpion_n in_o many_o they_o mistake_v themselves_o but_o in_o other_o it_o be_v true_a faith_n and_o god_n delight_v in_o it_o and_o you_o shall_v know_v it_o by_o this_o it_o do_v draw_v the_o heart_n to_o god_n and_o the_o soul_n never_o find_v such_o a_o prevalent_a way_n to_o overcome_v those_o corruption_n that_o be_v in_o it_o as_o to_o exercise_v their_o faith_n in_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n i_o beseech_v you_o mark_v the_o difference_n between_o presumption_n and_o faith_n in_o christ_n presumption_n will_v trust_v in_o god_n mercy_n notwithstanding_o their_o sin_n but_o that_o do_v indeed_o foment_n their_o sin_n and_o make_v they_o secure_a in_o their_o sin_n make_v they_o the_o more_o secure_a in_o their_o sin_n but_o now_o when_o the_o soul_n shall_v by_o the_o true_a geminine_a act_n of_o faith_n rest_n in_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n notwithstanding_o corruption_n if_o it_o be_v right_a such_o a_o soul_n feel_v no_o mean_n in_o the_o world_n of_o great_a efficacy_n to_o cure_v and_o prevail_v against_o corruption_n then_o this_o to_o trust_v in_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n notwithstanding_o corruption_n and_o if_o thou_o find_v it_o thus_o thou_o have_v no_o cause_n to_o fear_v trust_v in_o god_n grace_n with_o confidence_n for_o it_o be_v that_o which_o be_v well_o please_v unto_o god_n and_o that_o which_o the_o lord_n delight_v in_o and_o that_o which_o give_v as_o much_o content_n to_o god_n heart_n as_o the_o exercise_n of_o any_o grace_n whatsoever_o and_o in_o that_o regard_n because_o the_o saint_n shall_v never_o exercise_v such_o a_o act_n of_o faith_n in_o heaven_n â—s_v this_o god_n will_v have_v this_o in_o this_o world_n 3._o this_o be_v that_o that_o god_n see_v do_v drive_v his_o own_o people_n to_o he_o in_o prayer_n nothing_o drive_v the_o saint_n to_o god_n with_o more_o earnestness_n in_o prayer_n than_o the_o feel_n of_o the_o weight_n of_o corruption_n upon_o they_o than_o they_o go_v to_o god_n above_o all_o god_n never_o hear_v such_o strong_a cry_n come_v up_o to_o heaven_n in_o regard_n of_o any_o affliction_n as_o this_o and_o by_o the_o way_n you_o may_v find_v by_o this_o how_o your_o heart_n be_v when_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n be_v upon_o you_o in_o affliction_n than_o you_o will_v cry_v to_o god_n but_o i_o put_v this_o to_o you_o have_v there_o not_o come_v as_o strong_a cry_n to_o heaven_n upon_o the_o sense_n of_o your_o corruption_n as_o upon_o the_o sense_n of_o any_o affliction_n whatsoever_o 4._o the_o lord_n have_v glory_n in_o this_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o the_o work_n of_o repentance_n and_o humility_n the_o keep_v the_o soul_n of_o his_o people_n in_o humility_n and_o the_o contrition_n of_o their_o spirit_n that_o be_v exceed_o please_a to_o god_n the_o lord_n be_v near_o to_o a_o break_a contrite_a heart_n a_o melt_a mourn_a spirit_n the_o lord_n do_v delight_n in_o the_o evangelical_a work_n of_o repentance_n this_o please_v the_o lord_n the_o work_n of_o humiliation_n mourning_n and_o sorrow_n for_o sin_n in_o a_o evangelical_a way_n be_v a_o grace_n that_o be_v acceptable_a to_o god_n god_n shall_v have_v none_o of_o that_o in_o heaven_n and_o he_o have_v it_o therefore_o here_o 5._o god_n hereby_o exercise_v his_o wisdom_n exceed_o in_o bring_v light_n out_o of_o darkeness_n god_n do_v many_o time_n turn_v not_o only_o the_o affliction_n of_o his_o people_n to_o their_o good_a but_o he_o work_v good_a many_o time_n out_o of_o sin_n not_o that_o hereby_o we_o shall_v be_v bold_a and_o presumptuous_a in_o our_o sin_n we_o must_v take_v head_n of_o tempt_a god_n yet_o know_v this_o that_o god_n do_v many_o time_n work_v exceed_v much_o good_a unto_o the_o saint_n even_o out_o of_o their_o sin_n by_o occasion_n of_o sin_n though_o their_o sin_n have_v no_o efficacy_n in_o this_o but_o god_n take_v occasion_n in_o this_o in_o otherways_o of_o his_o providence_n and_o work_n of_o his_o grace_n to_o work_v good_a unto_o they_o 6._o there_o be_v god_n justice_n in_o it_o also_o to_o lay_v a_o stumble_a block_n before_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a man_n for_o when_o they_o shall_v see_v that_o the_o godly_a that_o have_v the_o most_o grace_n they_o have_v much_o corruption_n in_o they_o still_o they_o rejoice_v perhaps_o in_o it_o and_o they_o little_o think_v that_o god_n aim_v at_o the_o execution_n of_o his_o just_a judgement_n upon_o they_o that_o it_o shall_v harden_v their_o heart_n many_o wicked_a man_n they_o think_v their_o condition_n to_o be_v very_o good_a because_o they_o see_v so_o much_o corruption_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o godly_a and_o they_o be_v harden_v thereby_o but_o they_o little_o think_v
that_o be_v his_o very_a soul_n his_o life_n his_o peace_n his_o comfort_n all_o his_o happiness_n he_o have_v commit_v to_o he_o and_o so_o leave_v all_o with_o he_o now_o then_o take_v all_o these_o together_o and_o when_o christ_n call_v the_o sinner_n to_o come_v to_o he_o that_o be_v o_o sinner_n first_o believe_v this_o that_o i_o be_o the_o great_a redeemer_n that_o be_v come_v into_o the_o world_n to_o stand_v between_o god_n wrath_n and_o your_o soul_n and_o to_o make_v up_o peace_n between_o god_n and_o you_o and_o let_v there_o be_v a_o unsettle_n of_o your_o heart_n from_o whatsoever_o heretofore_o your_o soul_n do_v rest_n in_o creature_n comfort_n your_o own_o righteousness_n duty_n self_n respect_n and_o end_n whatsoever_o they_o be_v let_v your_o heart_n be_v take_v off_o from_o they_o all_o and_o let_v your_o heart_n now_o be_v in_o a_o stir_a work_a disposition_n towards_o i_o let_v all_o your_o whole_a soul_n be_v stretch_v forth_o to_o i_o and_o come_v and_o cast_v all_o your_o burden_n upon_o i_o and_o leave_v your_o soul_n with_o i_o and_o i_o will_v take_v care_n of_o they_o thus_o come_v to_o i_o now_o then_o when_o any_o soul_n that_o be_v thus_o lade_v shall_v answer_v to_o this_o call_v of_o christ_n and_o shall_v say_v lord_n i_o come_v here_o be_v the_o very_a voice_n and_o answer_v of_o faith_n when_o the_o soul_n can_v say_v oh_o lord_n i_o come_v i_o see_v thou_o to_o be_v the_o bless_a mediator_n between_o god_n and_o my_o soul_n and_o for_o whatsoever_o my_o heart_n have_v settle_v in_o heretofore_o oh_o lord_n it_o shall_v be_v all_o the_o work_n indeed_o within_o but_o we_o can_v see_v it_o till_o it_o be_v lay_v open_a and_o spread_v before_o we_o than_o we_o can_v see_v all_o that_o be_v in_o it_o so_o though_o there_o be_v many_o expression_n in_o the_o scripture_n that_o we_o understand_v not_o yet_o there_o they_o be_v but_o this_o be_v the_o work_n of_o the_o ministry_n to_o spread_v they_o and_o to_o lay_v they_o before_o you_o and_o lay_v they_o open_a to_o you_o that_o you_o may_v see_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o another_o manner_n when_o they_o be_v unfold_v now_o thus_o do_v christ_n call_v those_o that_o be_v lade_v to_o come_v to_o he_o chap._n xix_o how_o christ_n call_v sinner_n unto_o he_o set_v forth_o in_o two_o particular_n namely_o 1._o by_o a_o outward_a and_o general_a call_n 2._o by_o a_o particular_a call_n to_o particular_a sinner_n and_o how_o to_o know_v the_o voice_n of_o christ_n you_o will_v say_v how_o and_o in_o what_o manner_n do_v christ_n call_v to_o i_o shall_v come_v and_o open_v the_o gospel_n and_o there_o show_v how_o god_n have_v give_v his_o son_n to_o we_o he_o have_v take_v our_o nature_n upon_o he_o and_o die_v for_o sin_n and_o tell_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n send_v together_o with_o the_o word_n to_o open_v the_o riches_n of_o christ_n that_o though_o they_o have_v hear_v it_o a_o hundred_o time_n before_o yet_o when_o the_o spirit_n come_v there_o be_v a_o show_v of_o the_o beauty_n and_o riches_n of_o the_o gospel_n more_o than_o ever_o that_o allure_v their_o soul_n to_o come_v to_o christ_n second_o not_o only_o this_o but_o the_o lord_n when_o he_o call_v such_o as_o shall_v indeed_o have_v mercy_n by_o christ_n and_o have_v his_o invitation_n to_o be_v effectual_a he_o do_v give_v a_o particular_a call_v christ_n come_v in_o particular_a to_o such_o and_o such_o soul_n and_o call_v they_o in_o a_o particular_a special_a manner_n for_o the_o minister_n of_o god_n they_o be_v bind_v in_o the_o preach_a of_o the_o gospel_n to_o give_v a_o general_a invitation_n to_o come_v to_o he_o but_o god_n beside_o the_o general_n have_v a_o particular_a call_v there_o be_v a_o voice_n of_o god_n in_o particular_a to_o the_o soul_n that_o he_o intend_v to_o bring_v to_o his_o son_n such_o a_o one_o hear_v a_o voice_n behind_o he_o as_o the_o scripture_n speak_v say_v this_o be_v the_o way_n to_o salvation_n the_o way_n you_o have_v go_v all_o this_o while_n be_v not_o the_o way_n to_o life_n you_o will_v perish_v in_o that_o way_n christ_n be_v the_o right_a way_n as_o thus_o i_o will_v open_v it_o in_o the_o general_a and_o particular_a call_n by_o this_o similitude_n a_o prince_n that_o have_v have_v many_o of_o his_o subject_n traitor_n yet_o he_o be_v please_v to_o send_v forth_o a_o general_a proclamation_n make_v a_o proclamation_n to_o those_o subject_n and_o make_v it_o in_o general_a term_n that_o though_o you_o have_v be_v thus_o and_o thus_o traitorous_a against_o i_o yet_o i_o be_o content_a every_o one_o that_o will_v come_v to_o such_o a_o place_n at_o such_o a_o day_n and_o submit_v himself_o he_o shall_v have_v a_o pardon_n here_o be_v the_o general_a proclamation_n and_o this_o be_v encouragement_n to_o come_v but_o now_o suppose_v there_o be_v some_o poor_a traitor_n that_o because_o sensible_a of_o his_o wickedness_n and_o how_o unreasonable_o he_o have_v deal_v with_o his_o prince_n and_o may_v be_v sit_v alone_o bemoan_v his_o condition_n and_o trouble_v in_o his_o spirit_n and_o think_v with_o himself_o how_o shall_v i_o be_v able_a to_o see_v the_o face_n of_o my_o prince_n oh_o woe_n to_o i_o for_o the_o wickedness_n of_o my_o way_n suppose_v the_o prince_n shall_v come_v by_o and_o behold_v such_o a_o one_o take_v notice_n of_o he_o that_o be_v get_v into_o some_o corner_n or_o other_o and_o be_v there_o smite_v of_o his_o breast_n and_o lament_v his_o condition_n that_o he_o shall_v so_o provoke_v his_o prince_n as_o he_o they_o need_v not_o trouble_v themselves_o with_o answer_v any_o further_a that_o temptation_n o_o i_o come_v to_o christ_n but_o it_o be_v only_o that_o i_o may_v be_v save_v i_o do_v not_o know_v
