assurance_n of_o faith_n chap._n vi_o the_o application_n of_o this_o comfort_n by_o meditation_n now_o when_o we_o have_v well_o taste_v and_o swallow_v this_o cordial_n let_v we_o by_o some_o meditation_n and_o particular_a application_n labour_n to_o digest_v it_o and_o even_o incorporate_a this_o spiritual_a food_n into_o our_o soul_n for_o as_o it_o be_v with_o this_o earthly_a so_o be_v it_o with_o that_o heavenly_a fire_n of_o the_o word_n it_o will_v soon_o be_v extinguish_v or_o else_o lie_v dead_a &_o useless_a unless_o it_o be_v blow_v up_o by_o meditation_n thus_o therefore_o let_v the_o afflict_a spirit_n confer_v and_o commune_v with_o itself_o be_v it_o not_o my_o gracious_a god_n who_o reach_v forth_o this_o bitter_a cup_n of_o wormwood_n to_o i_o come_n able_a to_o try_v thing_n that_o differ_v we_o can_v examine_v and_o prove_v our_o faith_n in_o god_n and_o love_n to_o his_o saint_n and_o so_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o our_o dwell_n in_o christ_n and_o that_o we_o be_v translate_v from_o death_n to_o life_n this_o spirit_n of_o discern_v be_v not_o ordinary_o give_v to_o infant_n in_o understanding_n look_v as_o the_o child_n of_o great_a prince_n yet_o in_o their_o infancy_n much_o rejoice_v in_o their_o costly_a robe_n coronet_n etc._n etc._n but_o have_v not_o yet_o discretion_n to_o gather_v thence_o their_o noble_a comfortable_a persuasion_n of_o our_o eternal_a life_n for_o as_o some_o man_n by_o much_o neglect_n of_o seasonable_a refresh_n decay_v in_o bodily_a strength_n and_o liveliness_n of_o spirit_n and_o some_o other_o by_o great_a distemper_n fall_v into_o sickness_n and_o weakness_n so_o the_o strong_a christian_n who_o can_v say_v as_o david_n 23.4,6_o though_o i_o walk_v through_o the_o shadow_n
