unbelief_n true_o friend_n it_o be_v not_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o scripture_n only_o but_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o god_n of_o the_o scripture_n as_o god_n be_v please_v to_o make_v know_v himself_o by_o his_o mighty_a work_n in_o you_o that_o give_v life_n and_o peace_n to_o you_o if_o you_o know_v and_o speak_v scripture_n and_o can_v see_v nothing_o of_o god_n you_o be_v like_o form_n or_o glass_n but_o face_n to_o face_n the_o sight_n which_o moses_n have_v of_o god_n as_o it_o do_v transcend_v the_o ordinary_a discovery_n to_o common_a saint_n so_o it_o be_v far_o inferior_a to_o this_o vision_n for_o moses_n see_v but_o the_o backpart_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o as_o their_o sacrifice_n do_v tâ—â—e_v out_o the_o true_a sacrifice_n which_o we_o enjoy_v so_o this_o vision_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o immediateness_n of_o it_o bear_v some_o proportion_n with_o that_o glorious_a discovery_n in_o the_o saint_n where_o god_n shall_v be_v see_v as_o he_o be_v but_o this_o discovery_n be_v darken_v and_o veil_v in_o the_o outward_a form_n even_o in_o the_o design_n of_o god_n himself_o for_o the_o weak_a understanding_n be_v not_o able_a to_o behold_v the_o brightness_n of_o this_o presence_n as_o the_o israelite_n flee_v from_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n it_o be_v the_o pleasure_n of_o the_o father_n to_o cast_v a_o veil_n over_o his_o glory_n which_o vail_n be_v the_o form_n that_o so_o the_o discovery_n thereof_o may_v be_v bear_v by_o we_o our_o enjoy_v ment_n will_v be_v then_o most_o sublime_a when_o this_o vail_n be_v rend_v a_o sunder_o and_o way_n make_v to_o the_o holy_a of_o holies_n or_o the_o naked_a glory_n by_o the_o power_n and_o purity_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o the_o mean_a time_n the_o form_n be_v proportion_v to_o the_o darkness_n of_o the_o fleshly_a understanding_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v that_o the_o glory_n be_v limit_v and_o confine_v therein_o and_o give_v out_o according_a to_o the_o measure_n of_o our_o stature_n by_o degree_n this_o justify_v the_o design_n and_o wisdom_n of_o god_n in_o choose_v these_o way_n and_o method_n in_o the_o manifestation_n of_o himself_o for_o the_o occasion_n of_o spiritual_a administration_n be_v the_o darkness_n and_o weakness_n of_o the_o creature_n all_o which_o make_v up_o a_o bundle_n of_o necessity_n which_o be_v thus_o sum_v up_o man_n be_v cloud_v with_o a_o dark_a and_o misty_a understanding_n stand_v at_o a_o great_a distance_n from_o the_o clear_a light_n of_o god_n by_o reason_n whereof_o he_o apprehend_v nothing_o but_o what_o be_v suitable_a to_o himself_o and_o his_o enjoiment_n be_v answerable_a to_o his_o light_n that_o be_v weak_a and_o glimmer_a but_o god_n stoop_v down_o to_o humane_a frailty_n and_o give_v out_o while_o we_o be_v within_o the_o compass_n of_o appearance_n they_o may_v afford_v we_o a_o good_a but_o not_o the_o most_o excellent_a life_n for_o the_o high_a life_n be_v above_o all_o appearance_n even_o in_o the_o substance_n itself_o for_o which_o be_v better_o to_o live_v in_o the_o appearance_n of_o a_o thing_n or_o in_o the_o thing_n itself_o in_o the_o branch_n or_o in_o the_o tree_n in_o the_o root_n or_o in_o the_o rind_n to_o live_v in_o the_o substance_n be_v a_o life_n full_a of_o heavenly_a contemplation_n and_o rest_n for_o as_o the_o day_n of_o god_n labour_n be_v common_a and_o ordinary_a but_o the_o day_n of_o his_o rest_n sanctify_v and_o holy_a so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o saint_n the_o life_n of_o a_o christian_a under_o administration_n and_o form_n be_v the_o day_n of_o his_o labour_n and_o he_o meet_v with_o many_o uncertainty_n disappointment_n and_o
