then_o the_o temporal_a every_o man_n say_v he_o look_v to_o be_v save_v by_o faith_n when_o he_o die_v and_o it_o be_v well_o but_o we_o must_v add_v this_o we_o must_v live_v by_o faith_n too_o we_o must_v lead_v our_o life_n by_o the_o same_o faith_n by_o which_o we_o look_v to_o be_v save_v after_o this_o life_n and_o we_o must_v depend_v on_o god_n providence_n as_o certain_o for_o these_o necessary_n as_o we_o do_v upon_o his_o mercy_n for_o our_o salvation_n we_o must_v not_o live_v by_o sense_n or_o reason_n but_o by_o faith_n how_o this_o be_v to_o be_v do_v you_o shall_v see_v afterward_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o we_o to_o be_v save_v by_o faith_n when_o we_o die_v if_o we_o do_v not_o live_v by_o faith_n he_o that_o can_v cast_v himself_o upon_o god_n providence_n their_o trust_n be_v in_o god_n providence_n and_o the_o less_o their_o trust_n be_v in_o god_n providence_n the_o less_o faith_n in_o his_o mercy_n for_o their_o salvation_n so_o that_o where_o worldly_a care_n bear_v rule_v there_o be_v no_o faith_n in_o god_n providence_n as_o long_o as_o man_n be_v in_o prosperity_n they_o think_v they_o have_v great_a faith_n but_o in_o poverty_n and_o affliction_n their_o faith_n be_v try_v for_o then_o common_o the_o hart_n be_v swallow_v up_o with_o grief_n and_o fear_n he_o that_o can_v rest_v on_o god_n providence_n for_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o life_n how_o shall_v he_o rest_v on_o god_n mercy_n in_o the_o pain_n of_o death_n and_o thus_o much_o of_o the_o reproof_n 31._o therefore_o take_v no_o thought_n say_v what_o shall_v we_o man_n can_v distinguish_v between_o the_o water_n in_o baptism_n and_o other_o water_n between_o the_o bread_n and_o the_o wine_n on_o the_o lord_n table_n and_o common_a bread_n and_o wine_n and_o the_o discern_a of_o these_o be_v by_o this_o gift_n of_o wisdom_n three_o by_o this_o the_o church_n of_o god_n be_v able_a to_o discern_v of_o afflictio_n between_o cross_n and_o curse_n chastisement_n &_o judgement_n he_o can_v take_v the_o hand_n of_o god_n for_o a_o fatherly_a correction_n and_o for_o no_o curse_n nor_o judgement_n and_o he_o know_v what_o use_n to_o make_v of_o they_o four_o by_o this_o gift_n the_o child_n of_o god_n can_v discern_v the_o thing_n of_o god_n namely_o his_o own_o election_n vocation_n adoption_n justification_n etc._n etc._n he_o can_v know_v they_o &_o perceive_v they_o more_o or_o less_o in_o a_o word_n by_o this_o man_n be_v able_a to_o put_v a_o difference_n between_o earthly_a riches_n and_o heavenly_a treasure_n he_o can_v discern_v the_o excellency_n of_o heavenly_a thing_n above_o earthly_a and_o put_v a_o plain_a difference_n between_o they_o which_o the_o carnal_a man_n can_v not_o do_v the_o spiritual_a man_n discern_v all_o thing_n true_o virtue_n from_o vice_n heavenly_a thing_n from_o earthly_a thing_n and_o so_o all_o other_o thing_n whatsoever_o here_o then_o mark_v what_o be_v the_o first_o action_n and_o property_n of_o this_o wisdom_n to_o discern_v thing_n that_o differ_v i_o add_v further_o this_o the_o providence_n wisdom_n and_o justice_n of_o god_n in_o all_o thing_n which_o the_o natural_a man_n can_v do_v hereby_o you_o see_v how_o excellent_a and_o necessary_a a_o thing_n this_o be_v serve_v to_o many_o excellent_a use_n the_o second_o action_n be_v to_o judge_v determine_v &_o give_v sentence_n of_o thing_n what_o we_o must_v do_v and_o what_o we_o must_v not_o do_v what_o be_v good_a and_o what_o be_v evil_a what_o be_v heavenly_a and_o what_o be_v earthly_a here_o one_o thing_n must_v be_v remember_v it_o be_v a_o principal_a point_n of_o wisdom_n to_o determine_v what_o be_v the_o chief_a happiness_n of_o man_n and_o the_o scope_n unto_o which_o all_o our_o life_n be_v to_o be_v direct_v it_o be_v the_o love_n and_o favour_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n see_v example_n of_o this_o judgement_n psalm_n 4._o 6._o many_o say_v who_o will_v show_v we_o any_o good_a &_o c._n mark_v there_o david_n judgement_n of_o this_o matter_n and_o how_o he_o differ_v from_o other_o he_o determine_v that_o it_o be_v true_a happiness_n to_o be_v in_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n so_o paul_n care_v for_o nothing_o but_o christ_n crucify_v show_v what_o be_v his_o wisdom_n when_o he_o come_v among_o the_o wise_a of_o the_o world_n 2_o viz_n christ_n crucify_v for_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o world_n and_o indeed_o if_o a_o man_n have_v all_o the_o wisdom_n and_o policy_n in_o the_o earth_n and_o fail_v in_o this_o if_o he_o can_v determine_v where_o to_o place_v his_o happiness_n and_o what_o be_v the_o scope_n of_o his_o life_n his_o wisdom_n be_v but_o folly_n therefore_o remember_v this_o be_v a_o principal_a point_n of_o true_a wisdom_n to_o be_v able_a to_o judge_v of_o our_o true_a happiness_n what_o it_o be_v and_o the_o scope_n of_o our_o life_n thus_o you_o see_v the_o spiritual_a wisdom_n have_v two_o action_n &_o what_o they_o be_v viz_n first_o to_o discern_v by_o themselves_o and_o to_o themselves_o for_o example_n sake_n it_o be_v the_o manner_n of_o wise_a man_n to_o prescribe_v how_o they_o will_v be_v save_v they_o take_v it_o for_o a_o small_a matter_n to_o come_v to_o salvation_n if_o they_o can_v but_o make_v a_o prayer_n at_o the_o end_n of_o their_o life_n i_o speak_v of_o they_o which_o be_v not_o guide_v by_o the_o word_n some_o by_o their_o work_n and_o other_o by_o their_o faith_n and_o all_o be_v one_o for_o they_o understand_v nothing_o by_o faith_n but_o their_o good_a intent_n and_o well_o meaning_n natural_o and_o common_o man_n prescribe_v to_o themselves_o how_o they_o will_v be_v save_v &_o how_o they_o will_v worship_v god_n and_o in_o use_v what_o mean_v they_o will_v live_v and_o die_v but_o they_o do_v ill_o wherefore_o in_o a_o word_n be_v not_o wise_a to_o thyself_o in_o this_o for_o the_o matter_n of_o thy_o salvation_n let_v god_n be_v wise_a be_v thou_o a_o fool_n prescribe_v no_o religion_n to_o eye_n yea_o stark_a blind_a that_o have_v no_o power_n to_o discern_v or_o judge_v that_o be_v to_o see_v what_o be_v mean_v by_o light_n natural_a knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o justice_n which_o be_v in_o the_o mind_n it_o be_v further_a say_v that_o if_o this_o light_n be_v darkness_n it_o be_v only_o bury_v so_o as_o there_o shall_v be_v no_o use_n of_o it_o but_o it_o can_v be_v quite_o put_v out_o &_o extinguish_v some_o light_n of_o nature_n be_v remain_v in_o the_o most_o wicked_a man_n because_o conscience_n remain_v now_o here_o it_o be_v say_v to_o be_v none_o but_o darkness_n because_o it_o may_v be_v bury_v hide_v &_o cover_v but_o not_o whole_o put_v out_o the_o very_a atheist_n that_o live_v have_v this_o light_n in_o he_o this_o must_v be_v remember_v for_o the_o understanding_n of_o these_o word_n as_o it_o be_v plain_a in_o they_o that_o have_v a_o reprobate_a mind_n they_o be_v as_o if_o they_o have_v no_o light_n of_o nature_n remain_v because_o it_o be_v bury_v what_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n be_v turn_v into_o darkness_n the_o cause_n be_v in_o the_o will_n and_o affection_n of_o man_n the_o desire_n and_o lust_n of_o the_o heart_n it_o be_v sin_n that_o put_v out_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n actual_a sin_n the_o will_n and_o affection_n make_v man_n to_o sin_n against_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n and_o against_o conscience_n and_o so_o put_v out_o both_o and_o bury_v they_o this_o make_v a_o man_n not_o to_o know_v that_o which_o by_o nature_n he_o may_v know_v now_o see_v the_o fruit_n of_o it_o rom._n 1._o in_o most_o horrible_a and_o brutish_a sin_n upon_o the_o blind_a mind_n and_o reprobate_a sense_n the_o consideration_n of_o this_o point_n that_o the_o understanding_n may_v be_v quite_o bury_v by_o actual_a sin_n teach_v we_o to_o enter_v into_o a_o examination_n of_o ourselves_o we_o have_v in_o we_o even_o the_o best_a of_o we_o all_o wretched_a devilish_a and_o damnable_a desire_n such_o as_o will_v put_v out_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n in_o the_o understanding_n this_o teach_v we_o to_o be_v vile_a in_o our_o own_o eye_n who_o have_v such_o vile_a heart_n that_o they_o can_v put_v out_o that_o light_n which_o adam_n fall_n do_v not_o second_o in_o that_o the_o will_n and_o affection_n blind_v the_o mind_n dazzle_v and_o dim_v the_o light_n of_o our_o understanding_n we_o learn_v to_o look_v to_o these_o principal_o that_o they_o be_v mortify_v and_o bring_v in_o subjection_n to_o the_o obedience_n of_o god_n commandment_n for_o now_o the_o case_n be_v alter_v before_o the_o fall_n the_o mind_n rule_v the_o will_n but_o now_o the_o will_n overrule_v the_o mind_n therefore_o a_o special_a regard_n must_v be_v have_v of_o this_o we_o must_v renounce_v our_o own_o will_n and_o affection_n they_o be_v those_o that_o bring_v the_o ruin_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o conscience_n therefore_o above_o all_o thing_n look_v to_o they_o that_o they_o be_v temper_v order_v and_o square_v it_o be_v best_a with_o man_n when_o god_n break_v they_o of_o their_o will_n for_o when_o they_o have_v their_o will_n in_o all_o thing_n of_o this_o life_n they_o carry_v the_o whole_a man_n headlong_o like_o a_o wild_a and_o untamed_a colt_n though_o thou_o have_v all_o the_o wisdom_n knowledge_n and_o learning_n in_o the_o world_n if_o thy_o will_n and_o affection_n be_v naught_o they_o will_v cast_v a_o mist_n a_o veil_n and_o a_o cover_n or_o scarf_n over_o it_o wherefore_o bring_v these_o into_o order_n and_o subjection_n than_o a_o little_a understanding_n out_o of_o the_o word_n will_v give_v great_a light_n remember_v this_o it_o be_v not_o knowledge_n principal_o that_o shall_v be_v seek_v for_o or_o the_o mind_n to_o be_v instruct_v and_o no_o more_o but_o the_o will_n and_o affection_n must_v especial_o be_v regard_v for_o from_o the_o heart_n come_v life_n and_o death_n salvation_n or_o damnation_n there_o be_v the_o begin_n of_o thy_o comfort_n or_o woe_n for_o if_o they_o be_v out_o of_o order_n they_o will_v master_v &_o over-rule_v the_o understanding_n further_o i_o gather_v hence_o that_o the_o doctrine_n of_o salvation_n may_v be_v turn_v to_o we_o have_v receive_v the_o light_n of_o the_o gospel_n may_v preserve_v it_o namely_o by_o observe_v and_o watch_v the_o life_n of_o one_o a_o other_o and_o by_o exhort_v one_o a_o other_o quest._n last_o if_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n may_v be_v turn_v into_o darkness_n it_o may_v be_v demand_v whether_o save_v grace_n and_o faith_n may_v be_v lose_v if_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n which_o be_v so_o deep_o imprint_v in_o the_o heart_n may_v be_v extinguish_v why_o may_v not_o the_o grace_n of_o regeneration_n be_v lose_v answer_n there_o be_v no_o grace_n of_o god_n consider_v in_o itself_o but_o it_o may_v be_v lose_v for_o it_o be_v a_o creature_n and_o therefore_o changeable_a because_o nothing_o be_v unchangeable_a but_o god_n wherefore_o if_o you_o consider_v faith_n and_o regeneration_n in_o their_o own_o nature_n they_o be_v changeable_a and_o may_v be_v lose_v it_o can_v be_v deny_v but_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n to_o continue_v and_o preserve_v it_o to_o we_o than_o it_o be_v unchangeable_a and_o can_v be_v lose_v god_n give_v adam_n grace_n but_o it_o be_v changeable_a he_o do_v determine_v to_o

not_o to_o forbid_v labour_n or_o lawful_a care_n for_o than_o he_o shall_v speak_v against_o all_o calling_n so_o much_o of_o the_o sense_n and_o meaning_n of_o this_o heavenly_a commandment_n now_o let_v we_o apply_v it_o to_o ourselves_o that_o which_o be_v here_o forbid_a be_v the_o common_a sin_n of_o most_o man_n now_o and_o it_o be_v not_o in_o a_o few_o but_o it_o be_v a_o common_a and_o ordinary_a thing_n it_o lurk_v in_o the_o heart_n and_o show_v itself_o in_o the_o life_n one_o kind_n of_o ground_n receive_v the_o seed_n but_o when_o it_o spring_v up_o it_o be_v choke_v with_o and_o first_o use_n of_o it_o be_v not_o for_o the_o life_n but_o it_o respect_v a_o high_a matter_n it_o serve_v for_o the_o body_n itself_o i_o say_v in_o respect_n of_o a_o certain_a shame_n that_o be_v set_v upon_o it_o the_o majesty_n of_o the_o body_n be_v lose_v and_o the_o nakedness_n of_o it_o be_v now_o a_o thing_n full_a of_o shame_n and_o confusion_n and_o our_o apparel_n serve_v to_o the_o shame_n of_o our_o body_n with_o therefore_o it_o be_v as_o great_a a_o madness_n for_o any_o to_o be_v puff_v up_o because_o of_o their_o apparel_n as_o it_o be_v for_o a_o prisoner_n to_o be_v proud_a of_o the_o bolt_n on_o his_o leg_n the_o brand_n on_o his_o hand_n or_o the_o hole_n in_o his_o care_n therefore_o we_o must_v learn_v to_o think_v of_o our_o sin_n when_o we_o look_v on_o our_o apparel_n and_o to_o be_v abash_v abase_v and_o humble_v in_o remembrance_n of_o it_o we_o must_v express_v all_o the_o grace_n and_o gift_n of_o god_n that_o be_v in_o we_o so_o much_o as_o reason_n alone_o may_v move_v we_o to_o a_o moderate_a care_n for_o the_o temporal_a thing_n now_o mark_v the_o ground_n of_o this_o reason_n the_o church_n of_o god_n be_v a_o peculiar_a people_n apple_n then_o with_o a_o promise_n of_o great_a revenue_n or_o of_o a_o great_a inheritance_n and_o we_o have_v more_o regard_n of_o temporal_a blessing_n than_o we_o have_v of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o these_o be_v but_o dependence_n to_o that_o second_o we_o be_v teach_v to_o seek_v for_o riches_n and_o temporal_a blessing_n with_o the_o same_o mind_n with_o which_o we_o seek_v the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n that_o be_v with_o a_o honest_a heart_n for_o they_o depend_v one_o upon_o a_o other_o we_o must_v seek_v this_o kingdom_n of_o god_n with_o a_o upright_o heart_n and_o so_o we_o must_v seek_v riches_n with_o a_o good_a heart_n and_o honest_a deal_n use_v no_o unjust_a mean_n and_o as_o we_o be_v to_o seek_v they_o thus_o so_o we_o must_v use_v they_o when_o we_o have_v they_o for_o this_o end_n to_o further_a god_n kingdom_n with_o the_o same_o for_o riches_n be_v thing_n that_o depend_v upon_o that_o &_o therefore_o aught_o to_o serve_v to_o this_o end_n three_o if_o this_o be_v so_o that_o riches_n be_v dependence_n on_o god_n kingdom_n than_o he_o that_o have_v no_o right_a to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o be_v not_o in_o it_o have_v no_o right_a to_o any_o temporal_a blessing_n for_o they_o be_v annex_v one_o to_o a_o other_o turk_n and_o infidel_n have_v temporal_a blessing_n from_o god_n and_o enjoy_v they_o an._n they_o have_v they_o but_o by_o permission_n from_o god_n they_o have_v no_o right_a nor_o title_n to_o they_o indeed_o and_o in_o conscience_n i_o grant_v in_o civil_a court_n and_o in_o a_o civil_a respect_n they_o have_v a_o right_n unto_o they_o and_o a_o propriety_n in_o they_o but_o in_o conscience_n &_o before_o god_n they_o have_v none_o at_o all_o as_o many_o as_o be_v out_o of_o god_n kingdom_n whatsoever_o they_o be_v they_o have_v no_o right_n to_o any_o temporal_a blessing_n nor_o to_o any_o creature_n but_o be_v very_a thief_n and_o mere_a usurper_n before_o god_n though_o they_o have_v right_a to_o they_o before_o man_n let_v this_o be_v remember_v that_o they_o have_v no_o right_n to_o the_o meat_n that_o they_o eat_v to_o the_o clothes_n they_o put_v on_o nor_o to_o the_o ground_n they_o go_v on_o this_o show_v what_o vile_a and_o miserable_a wretch_n we_o be_v so_o long_o as_o we_o be_v out_o of_o god_n kingdom_n we_o have_v no_o right_a so_o much_o as_o to_o the_o very_a breath_n which_o we_o draw_v in_o at_o our_o nostril_n nor_o to_o the_o bread_n we_o put_v into_o our_o mouth_n etc._n etc._n but_o all_o the_o creature_n be_v against_o us._n and_o this_o be_v without_o question_n the_o state_n of_o all_o and_o every_o man_n that_o be_v out_o of_o god_n kingdom_n by_o which_o we_o see_v what_o miserable_a wretch_n we_o be_v much_o less_o have_v we_o any_o spiritual_a blessing_n wherewith_o to_o comfort_v ourselves_o further_o if_o this_o be_v a_o truth_n this_o must_v be_v a_o inducement_n to_o every_o one_o to_o remember_v the_o lesson_n teach_v before_o namely_o above_o all_o thing_n to_o seek_v to_o get_v the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n for_o till_o then_o we_o be_v most_o miserable_a we_o have_v no_o comfort_n in_o any_o creature_n or_o blessing_n of_o god_n nay_o the_o creature_n that_o be_v in_o our_o hand_n we_o have_v no_o right_n unto_o they_o we_o have_v not_o so_o much_o right_n as_o the_o beast_n have_v if_o there_o be_v no_o more_o reason_n but_o this_o one_o take_v from_o our_o miserable_a state_n so_o long_o as_o we_o be_v out_o of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n this_o one_o ought_v to_o be_v a_o spur_n unto_o we_o to_o make_v we_o seek_v it_o nay_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v at_o no_o rest_n till_o we_o be_v persuade_v out_o of_o god_n word_n that_o we_o be_v in_o that_o kingdom_n we_o shall_v give_v our_o soul_n no_o rest_n day_n noâ—_n night_n till_o we_o be_v resolve_v of_o this_o that_o we_o be_v within_o the_o kingdom_n of_o grace_n now_o while_o we_o be_v live_v upon_o earth_n and_o therefore_o i_o add_v this_o because_o we_o be_v thus_o miserable_a as_o you_o see_v till_o we_o be_v in_o it_o quest._n and_o that_o you_o may_v the_o better_a know_v when_o you_o be_v in_o it_o remember_v but_o thus_o much_o when_o you_o be_v regenerate_v than_o you_o enter_v but_o you_o will_v say_v how_o shall_v we_o know_v when_o we_o be_v regenerate_v answer_n when_o you_o begin_v to_o be_v touch_v in_o conscience_n with_o your_o sin_n and_o to_o be_v displease_v with_o yourselves_o for_o the_o sin_n of_o your_o nature_n and_o the_o sin_n of_o your_o life_n and_o withal_o begin_v to_o hunger_n after_o christ_n righteousness_n and_o to_o frame_v your_o life_n according_a to_o god_n commandment_n than_o you_o be_v regenerate_v and_o then_o you_o enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n you_o obtain_v it_o and_o have_v right_a unto_o it_o therefore_o if_o you_o will_v have_v a_o entrance_n into_o it_o labour_v to_o be_v touch_v &_o grieve_v for_o your_o sin_n in_o heart_n and_o conscience_n labour_v to_o feel_v your_o need_n of_o christ_n and_o of_o his_o blood_n and_o have_v a_o care_n to_o put_v your_o neck_n under_o his_o yoke_n and_o when_o these_o thing_n be_v in_o you_o whatsoever_o you_o have_v be_v before_o though_o the_o vile_a sinner_n that_o ever_o be_v you_o enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n again_o if_o this_o be_v so_o that_o temporal_a thing_n be_v but_o dependence_n we_o be_v teach_v that_o when_o any_o calamity_n or_o loss_n befall_v we_o whether_o it_o be_v of_o good_n friend_n or_o good_a name_n we_o oght_v then_o to_o stay_v ourselves_o and_o not_o to_o suffer_v ourselves_o to_o be_v overwhelm_v with_o immoderate_a sorrow_n and_o grief_n for_o when_o the_o great_a loss_n come_v that_o can_v be_v of_o worldly_a thing_n what_o be_v it_o but_o of_o thing_n that_o depend_v on_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n the_o kingdom_n itself_o be_v not_o lose_v what_o though_o thou_o lose_v the_o favour_n and_o countenance_n of_o man_n and_o thy_o reputation_n and_o estimation_n among_o they_o or_o some_o part_n of_o thy_o good_n this_o cause_v not_o the_o loss_n of_o the_o kingdom_n the_o right_a and_o title_n of_o that_o may_v stand_v good_a notwithstanding_o all_o these_o therefore_o we_o must_v moderate_v our_o grief_n with_o this_o consideration_n and_o thus_o christ_n comfort_v his_o disciple_n in_o their_o affliction_n fear_v not_o little_a flock_n for_o it_o be_v your_o father_n pleasure_n to_o give_v you_o a_o kingdom_n the_o three_o point_n of_o doctrine_n to_o be_v gather_v hence_o be_v this_o that_o god_n be_v a_o bountiful_a god_n and_o his_o bountifulness_n be_v here_o describe_v for_o if_o you_o seek_v the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n you_o shall_v have_v it_o &_o much_o more_o see_v here_o the_o exceed_a great_a
bountifulness_n of_o god_n that_o give_v man_n more_o than_o they_o seek_v ask_v or_o think_v of_o when_o man_n seek_v this_o kingdom_n they_o shall_v have_v it_o &_o much_o more_o even_o all_o thing_n necessary_a for_o this_o life_n a_o notable_a token_n of_o god_n great_a bounty_n the_o same_o goodness_n be_v excellent_o set_v forth_o elsewhere_o paul_n praise_v god_n and_o attribute_n this_o unto_o he_o as_o the_o cause_n of_o his_o thanksgiving_n because_o he_o can_v do_v more_o than_o we_o either_o ask_v or_o think_v ob._n he_o can_v do_v what_o be_v that_o to_o the_o purpose_n ans._n therefore_o he_o speak_v of_o such_o a_o power_n as_o be_v bring_v forth_o into_o action_n and_o he_o will_v do_v this_o be_v the_o goodness_n of_o god_n he_o give_v they_o that_o which_o they_o seek_v and_o more_o than_o they_o seek_v he_o can_v do_v it_o and_o he_o will_v do_v it_o it_o be_v a_o point_n worth_a the_o consideration_n that_o god_n give_v his_o servant_n more_o than_o they_o seek_v for_o or_o think_v of_o when_o they_o pray_v see_v the_o performance_n of_o it_o to_o david_n 21._o thou_o prevent_a he_o with_o liberal_a blessing_n signify_v that_o god_n give_v he_o more_o than_o he_o pray_v for_o &_o that_o which_o he_o never_o think_v of_o this_o be_v also_o verify_v in_o solomon_n 3._o he_o ask_v only_a wisdom_n and_o god_n give_v he_o that_o and_o riches_n and_o honour_n likewise_o as_o also_o in_o jacob_n &_o joseph_n thus_o we_o see_v the_o truth_n of_o this_o promise_n perform_v both_o by_o testimony_n and_o example_n suitable_a to_o it_o and_o there_o be_v none_o of_o we_o all_o but_o if_o we_o look_v into_o ourselves_o we_o shall_v find_v that_o god_n have_v give_v we_o more_o than_o ever_o we_o desire_v or_o ever_o think_v we_o shall_v have_v have_v this_o point_n be_v not_o to_o be_v let_v pass_v without_o remembrance_n the_o use_n hereof_o be_v manifold_a for_o we_o be_v teach_v all_o manner_n of_o good_a duty_n by_o it_o first_o to_o have_v a_o continual_a care_n that_o we_o do_v nothing_o that_o may_v offend_v god_n for_o he_o be_v a_o liberal_a and_o a_o bountiful_a god_n when_o we_o pray_v he_o give_v we_o more_o than_o we_o ask_v second_o this_o shall_v move_v we_o to_o put_v our_o trust_n in_o god_n for_o all_o necessary_n trust_v he_o with_o our_o life_n and_o soul_n and_o with_o all_o that_o we_o have_v if_o he_o be_v so_o bountiful_a as_o we_o see_v he_o be_v we_o ought_v not_o to_o distrust_v he_o for_o any_o thing_n belong_v either_o to_o the_o soul_n or_o to_o the_o body_n three_o this_o shall_v move_v we_o in_o all_o distress_n to_o seek_v to_o he_o for_o help_n and_o succour_n because_o he_o be_v ready_a to_o help_v four_o it_o shall_v move_v we_o to_o love_v this_o god_n in_o consideration_n of_o this_o bountifulness_n five_o to_o be_v willing_a to_o pray_v to_o he_o and_o to_o be_v ready_a to_o make_v our_o moan_n to_o he_o six_o to_o be_v thankful_a to_o he_o continual_o who_o be_v so_o bountiful_a to_o we_o daily_o prevent_v we_o with_o bountiful_a blessing_n in_o a_o word_n to_o conclude_v this_o aught_o to_o be_v a_o spur_n to_o prick_v we_o forward_o to_o every_o good_a duty_n and_o to_o turn_v our_o heart_n from_o every_o way_n that_o be_v evil_a and_o to_o please_v god_n in_o all_o thing_n and_o so_o much_o of_o that_o point_n of_o the_o bountifulness_n of_o god_n in_o that_o he_o give_v they_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n which_o seek_v it_o and_o withal_o a_o great_a deal_n more_o than_o they_o desire_v and_o so_o much_o of_o the_o use_n 31_o care_v not_o for_o the_o morrow_n for_o the_o morrow_n shall_v care_v for_o itself_o the_o day_n have_v enough_o with_o his_o own_o grief_n here_o christ_n do_v repeat_v the_o commandment_n which_o he_o give_v in_o the_o 25._o verse_n it_o be_v repeat_v twice_o before_o and_o now_o it_o be_v here_o repeat_v the_o three_o time_n his_o often_o repeat_v of_o this_o commandment_n be_v to_o teach_v we_o to_o be_v word_n be_v not_o so_o to_o be_v conceive_v as_o at_o the_o first_o read_v they_o seem_v to_o be_v but_o there_o be_v two_o sort_n of_o care_n yea_o of_o care_n for_o time_n to_o come_v first_o a_o lawful_a and_o a_o godly_a care_n second_o a_o distrustful_a care_n that_o there_o be_v a_o godly_a care_n even_o for_o the_o time_n to_o come_v it_o be_v plain_a for_o christ_n himself_o have_v a_o bag_n and_o judas_n keep_v it_o therefore_o his_o meaning_n be_v not_o to_o forbid_v all_o care_n of_o time_n to_o come_v and_o when_o agabus_n foretell_v the_o famine_n 11._o the_o church_n provide_v against_o it_o wherefore_o there_o be_v no_o question_n 5._o but_o there_o be_v a_o lawful_a care_n for_o the_o time_n to_o come_v which_o be_v not_o here_o forbid_v that_o you_o may_v know_v what_o care_n that_o be_v mark_v this_o those_o thing_n that_o be_v necessary_a as_o meat_n drink_n and_o cloth_n and_o can_v be_v provide_v hereafter_o may_v be_v provide_v aforehand_o without_o sin_n and_o without_o breach_n of_o this_o commandment_n for_o example_n a_o man_n of_o trade_n that_o be_v decay_v in_o his_o strength_n &_o eyesight_n may_v have_v some_o thing_n provide_v to_o maintain_v himself_o when_o his_o strength_n and_o sight_n be_v go_v he_o may_v provide_v aforehand_o thing_n necessary_a for_o himself_o when_o he_o be_v old_a and_o can_v work_v to_o get_v his_o live_n it_o remain_v therefore_o that_o there_o be_v a_o lawful_a care_n for_o to_o morrow_n and_o that_o be_v when_o to_o morrow_n be_v not_o able_a to_o help_v itself_o but_o when_o to_o morrow_n be_v able_a to_o help_v itself_o than_o it_o be_v not_o lawful_a to_o care_v for_o to_o morrow_n so_o they_o this_o point_n be_v clear_a quest._n what_o care_n be_v it_o then_o that_o christ_n condemn_v ans._n a_o distrustful_a care_n for_o such_o a_o care_n the_o greek_a word_n signify_v which_o do_v distract_v the_o mind_n etc._n etc._n as_o before_o that_o you_o may_v the_o better_a perceive_v it_o see_v some_o example_n of_o it_o when_o man_n provide_v so_o much_o wealth_n as_o will_v keep_v and_o maintain_v both_o they_o and_o they_o for_o many_o age_n if_o they_o can_v heap_v up_o good_n not_o to_o be_v number_v they_o will_v do_v it_o and_o there_o be_v many_o such_o gather-goods_a man_n forecast_v to_o provide_v so_o much_o as_o will_v maintain_v they_o if_o they_o shall_v live_v as_o long_o as_o methushelah_n this_o be_v the_o care_n forbid_v when_o man_n provide_v so_o much_o for_o themselves_o as_o will_v suffice_v for_o many_o family_n the_o king_n himself_o who_o have_v most_o need_n of_o abundance_n must_v not_o multiply_v too_o much_o his_o horse_n and_o money_n much_o less_o ought_v any_o subject_n if_o any_o man_n have_v need_v of_o superaboundance_n and_o superfluity_n the_o king_n much_o more_o yet_o he_o be_v forbid_v it_o why_o then_o if_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n to_o be_v bar_v the_o prince_n if_o he_o must_v be_v stint_v and_o limit_v what_o man_n dare_v be_v so_o bold_a as_o to_o exceed_v his_o bound_n &_o break_v out_o beyond_o his_o border_n this_o be_v one_o example_n of_o the_o distrustful_a care_n an_o other_o example_n be_v when_o man_n provide_v against_o all_o mischance_n and_o casualty_n so_o that_o they_o will_v avoid_v all_o loss_n and_o damage_n whatsoever_o and_o howsoever_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n fall_v on_o other_o they_o will_v be_v free_a from_o all_o and_o though_o all_o the_o world_n shall_v die_v before_o they_o for_o want_v yet_o they_o will_v live_v and_o have_v abundance_n of_o meat_n drink_n and_o cloth_n they_o will_v so_o provide_v for_o all_o event_n and_o danger_n whatsoever_o a_o three_o example_n of_o this_o be_v when_o man_n do_v now_o provide_v thing_n necessary_a which_o may_v sufficient_o be_v provide_v in_o time_n to_o come_v and_o this_o be_v the_o care_n that_o be_v here_o condemn_v by_o name_n when_o they_o care_v this_o day_n for_o to_o day_n and_o to_o morrow_n too_o when_o this_o day_n may_v care_v for_o itself_o and_o the_o morrow_n for_o itself_o thus_o you_o see_v the_o right_a meaning_n of_o this_o commandment_n how_o christ_n forbid_v all_o extraordinary_a curious_a and_o superfluous_a care_n and_o so_o much_o for_o the_o commandment_n for_o the_o morrow_n shall_v care_v for_o itself_o now_o christe_o lay_v down_o a_o seven_o
