chief_a but_o subordinat_a good_a fit_v he_o for_o a_o high_a the_o glorify_v and_o enjoy_v of_o god_n and_o comely_a or_o that_o which_o beautify_v as_o the_o word_n signify_v to_o wit_n in_o the_o eye_n of_o other_o the_o way_n of_o religion_n press_v in_o the_o former_a part_n of_o the_o chapter_n that_o a_o man_n shall_v eat_v and_o drink_v by_o which_o word_n he_o do_v not_o commend_v sensuality_n or_o excess_n but_o a_o free_a and_o holy_a use_n of_o the_o creature_n man_n keep_v themselves_o within_o the_o bound_n of_o sobriety_n and_o proportion_v their_o use_n of_o the_o creature_n to_o the_o lord_n blessing_n of_o their_o labour_n for_o cherish_v of_o the_o natural_a life_n while_o god_n continue_v it_o this_o say_v he_o be_v a_o man_n portion_n not_o his_o best_a for_o that_o be_v the_o lord_n himself_o reconcile_v with_o he_o in_o christ_n but_o a_o temporary_a portion_n or_o reward_v of_o his_o labour_n carve_v out_o to_o he_o as_o the_o word_n portion_n signify_v for_o uphold_v his_o outward_a man_n in_o his_o master_n service_n next_o he_o show_v that_o when_o god_n have_v give_v to_o a_o man_n abundance_n of_o outward_a thing_n and_o have_v withal_o superad_v this_o favour_n that_o he_o have_v give_v he_o power_n to_o use_v they_o which_o consist_v not_o only_o in_o a_o man_n natural_a health_n whereby_o he_o be_v in_o a_o capacity_n to_o make_v use_n of_o creature_n comfort_n but_o also_o in_o the_o freedom_n of_o his_o spirit_n from_o anxiety_n nigardliness_n or_o scruple_n of_o conscience_n in_o use_v they_o so_o as_o he_o be_v not_o enslave_v to_o his_o possession_n but_o be_v make_v a_o master_n or_o lord_n of_o they_o as_o the_o word_n to_o give_v power_n signify_v and_o have_v wisdom_n to_o take_v they_o proportional_o and_o suitable_o to_o his_o rank_n and_o employment_n which_o be_v to_o take_v his_o portion_n and_o so_o cheerful_o to_o follow_v his_o duty_n rejoice_v that_o he_o be_v enable_v for_o the_o same_o this_o say_v he_o be_v a_o free_a gift_n of_o god_n to_o wit_n a_o new_a gift_n superad_v to_o all_o his_o wealth_n and_o riches_n ver_fw-la 19_o and_o three_o he_o give_v the_o reason_n why_o man_n shall_v study_v this_o holy_a and_o cheerful_a use_n of_o the_o creature_n take_v from_o the_o advantage_n he_o shall_v have_v thereby_o namely_o he_o shall_v not_o much_o remember_v the_o day_n of_o his_o life_n whereby_o be_v mean_v that_o he_o shall_v not_o be_v

confident_o upon_o his_o faithful_a word_n and_o help_v they_o to_o believe_v by_o give_v they_o sometime_o the_o first_o fruit_n thereof_o in_o hand_n for_o solomon_n speak_v what_o he_o will_v teach_v all_o man_n that_o fear_v of_o god_n to_o speak_v with_o application_n to_o themselves_o else_o they_o can_v have_v that_o strong_a consolation_n which_o be_v suitable_a to_o the_o case_n they_o be_v suppose_v to_o be_v in_o here_o sure_o i_o know_v it_o shall_v be_v well_o with_o they_o that_o fear_v god_n 8._o only_o these_o who_o have_v such_o a_o holy_a fear_n of_o offend_a god_n flow_v from_o the_o believe_a consideration_n of_o his_o sovereignty_n and_o greatness_n jer._n 10.7_o his_o goodness_n manifest_v to_o they_o host_n 3.5_o and_o his_o proneness_n to_o pardon_v their_o sin_n psal_n 130.4_o and_o such_o other_o perfection_n of_o he_o as_o make_v they_o rather_o adventure_v upon_o the_o worst_a that_o the_o great_a of_o man_n can_v do_v than_o upon_o god_n displeasure_n by_o eshew_v trouble_n from_o they_o only_o those_o i_o say_v may_v persuade_v themselves_o that_o it_o shall_v be_v well_o with_o they_o and_o only_o those_o can_v comfort_v themselves_o in_o such_o a_o persuasion_n against_o all_o their_o suffering_n for_o to_o such_o only_o be_v this_o consolation_n hold_v forth_o it_o shall_v be_v well_o with_o they_o that_o fear_v god_n 9_o the_o true_a fear_n of_o god_n be_v main_o know_v by_o the_o soul_n set_v itself_o before_o the_o face_n of_o the_o lord_n apprehend_v he_o a_o present_a god_n and_o witness_n of_o all_o its_o action_n do_v all_o as_o in_o his_o sight_n they_o fear_v god_n indeed_o who_o so_o apprehend_v his_o greatness_n and_o terror_n as_o not_o to_o flee_v from_o he_o his_o goodness_n so_o as_o which_o the_o godly_a have_v begin_v here_o and_o continue_v through_o all_o eternity_n be_v but_o as_o the_o shadow_n of_o a_o life_n and_o day_n for_o so_o be_v they_o here_o call_v his_o day_n which_o be_v as_o a_o shadow_n 13._o as_o the_o want_n of_o that_o filial_a or_o son_o fear_v of_o the_o lord_n which_o be_v describe_v doct._n 8_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o the_o other_o sin_n of_o wicked_a man_n so_o be_v it_o also_o a_o clear_a evidence_n of_o eternal_a woe_n and_o misery_n to_o come_v upon_o they_o though_o they_o be_v for_o the_o present_a spare_v and_o prosper_v in_o their_o sin_n for_o so_o be_v it_o here_o set_v down_o as_o the_o cause_n of_o judgement_n certain_o come_v upon_o they_o because_o they_o fear_v not_o god_n ver._n 14._o there_o be_v a_o vanity_n and_o close_a of_o the_o verse_n there_o be_v a_o vanity_n say_v he_o and_o again_o this_o be_v vanity_n which_o be_v not_o to_o be_v understand_v as_o if_o he_o have_v censure_v the_o wise_a and_o righteous_a providence_n of_o god_n in_o permit_v and_o order_v thing_n so_o to_o fall_v forth_o but_o it_o be_v vanity_n in_o two_o respect_n 1._o in_o so_o far_o as_o it_o be_v the_o fruit_n of_o man_n corruption_n who_o be_v instrument_n in_o it_o especial_o wicked_a man_n in_o authority_n who_o he_o main_o eye_n all_o along_o this_o chapter_n it_o flow_v from_o and_o do_v evidence_n the_o vanity_n of_o their_o mind_n their_o corrupt_a and_o wicked_a humour_n which_o be_v call_v by_o this_o name_n vanity_n in_o scripture_n that_o they_o do_v prefer_v and_o reward_v wicked_a man_n as_o to_o fall_v forth_o upon_o the_o earth_n happiness_n can_v be_v have_v in_o it_o three_o he_o direct_v to_o one_o particular_a remedy_n of_o that_o discouragement_n which_o ready_o be_v occasion_v use_v of_o as_o a_o argument_n to_o charity_n whether_o the_o tree_n fall_v towards_o the_o south_n or_o towards_o the_o north_n in_o the_o place_n where_o the_o tree_n fall_v there_o it_o shall_v be_v 3._o though_o there_o be_v discretion_n require_v in_o charity_n to_o know_v the_o worth_n of_o the_o person_n upon_o who_o it_o be_v bestow_v ps_n 112.5_o yet_o where_o the_o intention_n of_o the_o giver_n be_v honest_a and_o endeavour_n to_o discern_v what_o manner_n of_o person_n they_o be_v to_o who_o he_o give_v though_o he_o may_v be_v mistake_v and_o let_v his_o charity_n fall_v the_o condition_n they_o be_v find_v in_o at_o death_n and_o that_o judgement_n will_v find_v we_o as_o death_n leau_v we_o shall_v make_v we_o study_v to_o lead_v a_o good_a life_n and_o particular_o so_o thou_o know_v not_o the_o work_n of_o god_n who_o make_v all_o solomon_n have_v press_v the_o duty_n of_o charity_n with_o several_a reason_n do_v here_o discover_v the_o weakness_n and_o insufficiency_n of_o these_o pretence_n or_o objection_n which_o man_n often_o make_v the_o ground_n of_o their_o delay_n or_o neglect_v altogether_o that_o duty_n and_o these_o objection_n be_v take_v from_o the_o probability_n which_o man_n imagine_v of_o such_o sad_a accident_n to_o befall_v they_o as_o make_v they_o fear_v want_n and_o misery_n to_o themselves_o if_o they_o give_v of_o their_o substance_n to_o the_o poor_a as_o the_o word_n of_o god_n press_v the_o weakness_n of_o all_o which_o the_o wise_a man_n clear_v and_o prove_v first_o by_o a_o proverbial_a speech_n borrow_v from_o foolish_a husbandman_n the_o force_n whereof_o amount_n to_o this_o that_o as_o he_o who_o upon_o every_o appearance_n of_o rain_n or_o wind_n when_o he_o will_v not_o have_v they_o do_v forbear_v sow_v or_o reap_v will_v never_o it_o be_v propbable_a either_o sow_n or_o reap_v the_o application_n of_o which_o similitude_n be_v not_o express_v but_o may_v be_v easy_o gather_v from_o the_o scope_n thus_o even_o so_o he_o who_o look_v to_o all_o future_a contingency_n which_o may_v discourage_v or_o hinder_v he_o in_o his_o duty_n will_v ready_o never_o set_v about_o it_o and_o particular_o he_o that_o neglect_v charity_n to_o other_o when_o god_n call_v he_o to_o it_o because_o of_o every_o suggestion_n that_o his_o fortune_n may_v soon_o be_v exhaust_v will_v never_o cast_v his_o bread_n upon_o the_o water_n and_o so_o never_o reap_v the_o reward_n promise_v to_o the_o performer_n of_o that_o duty_n next_o he_o show_v the_o weakness_n of_o that_o sort_n of_o reason_v to_o deter_v man_n from_o their_o duty_n and_o prove_v they_o shall_v not_o neglect_v it_o though_o the_o appearance_n of_o success_n be_v never_o to_o small_a by_o a_o argument_n take_v from_o the_o unsearchable_a depth_n of_o god_n wisdom_n manifest_v in_o his_o ordinary_a operation_n and_o that_o man_n may_v be_v convince_v of_o their_o ignorance_n and_o so_o not_o despair_v of_o the_o performance_n of_o what_o god_n have_v promise_v though_o they_o see_v no_o appearance_n thereof_o he_o instance_n two_o thing_n very_o near_o to_o every_o man_n and_o yet_o clear_o understand_v by_o none_o the_o first_o instance_n be_v that_o man_n know_v not_o the_o way_n of_o the_o spirit_n that_o be_v they_o be_v ignorant_a how_o their_o own_o soul_n be_v form_v and_o unite_v to_o their_o body_n how_o they_o exist_v and_o act_v while_o they_o be_v in_o the_o body_n and_o when_o they_o be_v separat_fw-la from_o it_o the_o other_o be_v that_o none_o know_v how_o the_o bone_n do_v grow_v ignorance_n of_o these_o thing_n he_o do_v infer_v that_o they_o can_v distinct_o conceive_v the_o way_n of_o god_n work_v for_o perform_v his_o promise_n to_o they_o that_o venture_v upon_o command_v duty_n when_o there_o be_v no_o probability_n of_o reward_n for_o so_o do_v and_o to_o help_v they_o the_o more_o confidenty_n to_o expect_v the_o promise_a reward_n of_o duty_n though_o there_o be_v no_o appearance_n of_o it_o be_v represent_v the_o lord_n under_o the_o notion_n of_o creator_n who_o give_v a_o be_v to_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o and_o therefore_o man_n may_v cheerful_o follow_v their_o duty_n to_o he_o and_o particular_o give_v of_o their_o substance_n for_o relief_n of_o his_o poor_a people_n though_o they_o see_v no_o probability_n of_o recompense_n for_o so_o do_v hence_o learn_v 1._o a_o faithful_a minister_n must_v not_o only_o press_v duty_n and_o enforce_v the_o same_o by_o reason_n but_o also_o he_o must_v careful_o foresee_v what_o reason_n people_n may_v
