evil_a 8_o if_o because_o sin_n take_v occasion_n by_o the_o doctrine_n of_o grace_n it_o must_v not_o be_v preach_v then_o must_v not_o man_n preach_v the_o law_n neither_o because_o sin_n take_v they_o be_v afraid_a to_o do_v it_o and_o when_o they_o can_v they_o speak_v it_o but_o faint_o as_o fear_v they_o may_v be_v deceive_v god_n be_v not_o their_o father_n 3_o they_o do_v god_n but_o little_a service_n whilst_o they_o can_v see_v themselves_o saint_n they_o pray_v etc._n etc._n but_o when_o they_o can_v they_o be_v sullen_a and_o mopish_a and_o will_v do_v little_a or_o nothing_o for_o god_n 4_o they_o know_v not_o how_o to_o bear_v affliction_n for_o let_v but_o a_o affliction_n come_v and_o they_o have_v not_o faith_n to_o believe_v themselves_o saint_n and_o then_o present_o they_o cry_v out_o this_o be_v out_o or_o wrath_n now_o god_n meet_v with_o i_o for_o such_o and_o such_o sin_n the_o affliction_n will_v undo_v i_o etc._n etc._n 5_o their_o very_a comfort_n and_o assurance_n be_v but_o seed_n of_o doubt_v afterward_o for_o will_v the_o soul_n say_v if_o i_o may_v conclude_v myself_o the_o child_n of_o god_n when_o i_o see_v myself_o a_o saint_n can_v pray_v etc._n etc._n then_o when_o i_o can_v see_v myself_o a_o saint_n but_o the_o contrary_a why_o shall_v i_o not_o conclude_v the_o contrary_a yea_o ought_v i_o not_o so_o to_o do_v 6_o they_o be_v lead_v back_o to_o a_o old_a testament_n faith_n it_o be_v very_o usual_a with_o the_o saint_n of_o the_o old_a testament_n to_o conclude_v their_o condition_n to_o be_v good_a or_o bad_a so_o i_o shall_v premise_v this_o viz._n that_o those_o several_a promise_n of_o grace_n glory_n etc._n etc._n good_a thing_n here_o and_o hereafter_o which_o the_o father_n have_v make_v to_o christ_n they_o be_v not_o make_v to_o he_o for_o himself_o he_o in_o this_o respect_n have_v no_o need_n of_o they_o or_o that_o the_o father_n shall_v make_v promise_n of_o such_o thing_n to_o he_o of_o god_n that_o may_v be_v any_o ground_n of_o encouragement_n to_o believe_v his_o quicken_n it_o as_o that_o word_n of_o christ_n joh._n 10.10_o i_o be_o come_v that_o they_o may_v have_v life_n and_o that_o they_o may_v have_v it_o more_o abundant_o see_v say_v faith_n jesus_n christ_n be_v come_v that_o i_o may_v have_v life_n and_o because_o i_o live_v you_o shall_v live_v also_o joh._n in_o that_o prayer_n we_o call_v the_o lord_n prayer_n the_o three_o first_o petition_n respect_v in_o a_o great_a part_n our_o sanctification_n hallow_a be_v thy_o name_n it_o be_v as_o much_o as_o that_o god_n will_v help_v we_o to_o honour_n and_o sanctify_v his_o great_a name_n thy_o kingdom_n come_v it_o be_v as_o much_o as_o to_o pray_v that_o god_n will_v set_v up_o his_o spiritual_a kingdom_n in_o our_o heart_n that_o we_o may_v be_v rule_v and_o guide_v by_o his_o spirit_n have_v all_o corruption_n mortify_v and_o grace_v quicken_v thy_o will_v be_v do_v in_o earth_n as_o it_o difference_n between_o that_o sanctification_n which_o arise_v from_o a_o enlighten_v conscience_n and_o that_o sanctification_n which_o arise_v from_o faith_n or_o believe_v there_o be_v a_o sanctification_n which_o arise_v from_o the_o mere_a dictate_v of_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o that_o sanctification_n the_o heathen_a moralist_n attain_v to_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o and_o there_o be_v a_o jewish_a sanctification_n or_o legal_a and_o that_o be_v such_o a_o sanctification_n as_o be_v beget_v by_o the_o terror_n of_o the_o law_n but_o there_o be_v another_o sanctification_n and_o that_o be_v a_o gospel-sanctification_a that_o be_v such_o a_o sanctification_n as_o be_v wrought_v in_o the_o soul_n from_o the_o behold_v the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n such_o a_o sanctification_n as_o be_v wrought_v from_o believe_v his_o justification_n now_o there_o be_v a_o great_a difference_n between_o this_o sanctification_n and_o the_o other_o which_o arise_v only_o from_o a_o enlighten_v conscience_n for_o both_o arise_v from_o a_o enlighten_v conscience_n the_o one_o from_o conscience_n be_v enlighten_v by_o nature_n law_n the_o other_o from_o the_o write_a law_n but_o there_o be_v a_o great_a difference_n answ_n 1._o that_o which_o arise_v from_o natural_a conscience_n be_v something_o of_o the_o more_o gross_a part_n of_o sanctification_n but_o a_o piece_n and_o do_v not_o take_v in_o any_o thing_n of_o the_o fine_a part_n of_o sanctification_n a_o forsake_v some_o sin_n that_o be_v outward_a and_o gross_a his_o conscience_n can_v but_o fly_v in_o his_o face_n so_o that_o he_o shall_v not_o rest_v quiet_o night_n nor_o day_n such_o as_o drunkenness_n adultery_n and_o the_o like_a it_o be_v in_o respect_n of_o those_o duty_n that_o be_v more_o apparent_a such_o as_o prayer_n hear_v the_o word_n such_o if_o a_o man_n shall_v let_v alone_o he_o shall_v have_v no_o quiet_a nor_o peace_n in_o conscience_n but_o that_o sanctification_n that_o come_v from_o faith_n that_o be_v in_o respect_n of_o the_o inward_a more_o secret_a evil_n of_o the_o soul_n the_o secret_a rise_n of_o pride_n unbeleef_n and_o passion_n and_o so_o for_o more_o inward_a duty_n that_o sanctification_n teach_v a_o man_n to_o deny_v himself_o to_o submit_v himself_o to_o god_n will_v to_o be_v content_a with_o god_n disposal_n 2._o that_o sanctification_n which_o come_v from_o a_o enlighten_v conscience_n only_o raise_v a_o man_n to_o be_v more_o self_n conceit_v but_o that_o sanctification_n that_o come_v from_o faith_n and_o believe_a throw_v a_o man_n down_o in_o respect_n of_o all_o self-conceit_n it_o make_v a_o man_n more_o mean_a and_o low_a in_o his_o own_o eye_n as_o the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n and_o jew_n in_o our_o saviour_n time_n they_o have_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o this_o outward_a holiness_n and_o sanctification_n but_o see_v how_o it_o puff_v they_o up_o how_o they_o stand_v upon_o tiptoe_n and_o crow_v over_o poor_a harlot_n and_o publican_n as_o not_o fit_a to_o come_v in_o the_o company_n of_o such_o as_o they_o be_v but_o that_o which_o come_v from_o faith_n make_v the_o soul_n more_o humble_a what_o abundance_n of_o sanctification_n paul_n have_v he_o do_v press_v after_o perfection_n do_v walk_v more_o like_a one_o in_o heaven_n than_o on_o earth_n yet_o he_o can_v look_v upon_o himself_o as_o the_o least_o of_o saint_n concern_v act_v for_o god_n labour_v in_o the_o work_n of_o god_n he_o preach_v the_o gospel_n from_o jerusalem_n to_o illiricum_n labour_v more_o abundant_o than_o they_o all_o yet_o how_o humble_a yet_o not_o i_o but_o
time_n it_o shall_v be_v give_v in_o the_o lord_n have_v his_o set_a time_n in_o which_o he_o do_v fulfil_v his_o promise_n and_o in_o which_o he_o do_v give_v in_o his_o mercy_n to_o his_o people_n a_o set_a time_n for_o the_o fulfil_n of_o that_o promise_n to_o abraham_n that_o his_o seed_n shall_v inherit_v canaan_n gen._n 15.16_o when_o the_o iniquity_n of_o the_o amorites_n shall_v be_v full_a in_o the_o four_o generation_n so_o god_n have_v a_o set_a time_n when_o he_o will_v deliver_v the_o people_n out_o of_o the_o house_n of_o bondage_n the_o land_n of_o egypt_n at_o the_o set_a
