reward_n of_o vice_n the_o first_o to_o be_v eternal_a life_n the_o other_o to_o be_v eternal_a destruction_n and_o with_o his_o whole_a heart_n and_o soul_n he_o desire_v and_o strive_v to_o avoid_v evil_a which_o he_o abhor_v and_o to_o do_v good_a which_o he_o love_v and_o while_o he_o strive_v to_o go_v on_o in_o this_o course_n nothing_o hinder_v he_o more_o than_o the_o root_n of_o sin_n that_o be_v deep_o fasten_v in_o his_o own_o flesh_n the_o devil_n offer_v a_o temptation_n and_o his_o false_a flesh_n yield_v present_o unto_o it_o the_o flatter_a world_n present_v show_n of_o out_o to_o be_v sinful_a and_o evil_a sometime_o at_o unaware_o before_o we_o have_v leisure_n to_o consider_v what_o we_o ought_v to_o do_v sometime_o against_o fore-fight_a yea_o against_o repugn_v will_n for_o that_o corruption_n that_o be_v in_o our_o flesh_n which_o for_o the_o authority_n that_o it_o usurp_v and_o for_o the_o power_n that_o it_o exercise_v in_o we_o the_o apostle_n call_v the_o law_n in_o our_o member_n 23_o that_o corruption_n rebell_v against_o the_o law_n of_o our_o mind_n and_o lead_v we_o captive_a into_o all_o actual_a sin_n and_o we_o be_v compel_v in_o the_o camp_n of_o our_o enemy_n to_o serve_v against_o our_o belove_a lord_n and_o this_o be_v no_o small_a grief_n unto_o a_o sanctify_a soul_n that_o desire_v to_o serve_v and_o worship_n god_n in_o spirit_n and_o truth_n how_o heavy_a this_o burden_n be_v the_o apostle_n word_n do_v teach_v we_o cry_v out_o by_o reason_n of_o it_o in_o this_o manner_n o_o wretched_a man_n that_o i_o be_o 24._o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o this_o body_n of_o death_n it_o be_v unto_o he_o more_o bitter_a than_o death_n that_o sin_n be_v of_o such_o power_n in_o his_o mortal_a body_n upon_o man_n groan_v perjury_n and_o such_o like_a wherein_o many_o of_o god_n dear_a child_n fall_v oft_o and_o yet_o by_o god_n favour_n rise_v again_o by_o repentance_n of_o that_o sin_n and_o of_o the_o exemption_n of_o god_n elect_v from_o it_o be_v that_o say_n of_o saint_n john_n to_o be_v understand_v whosoever_o be_v bear_v of_o god_n sin_v not_o for_o 9_o his_o seed_n remain_v in_o he_o neither_o can_v he_o sin_n because_o he_o be_v bear_v of_o god_n no_o man_n regenerate_v nor_o any_o of_o god_n elect_v can_v fall_v into_o this_o sin_n nor_o every_o reprobate_n for_o many_o of_o they_o through_o their_o ignorance_n that_o never_o come_v to_o know_v the_o truth_n of_o holy_a religion_n can_v possible_o become_v guilty_a of_o this_o blasphemy_n though_o for_o other_o sin_n whereof_o they_o obtain_v not_o grace_v to_o repent_v they_o just_o perish_v from_o god_n and_o suffer_v pardonable_a the_o pain_n of_o eternal_a death_n when_o thou_o therefore_o find_v that_o thou_o have_v not_o sin_v that_o unpardonable_a sin_n against_o the_o holy-ghost_n and_o that_o thy_o sin_n whatsoever_o and_o howsoever_o commit_v though_o deserve_v a_o thousand_o hell_n be_v yet_o by_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n pardonable_a where_o he_o be_v please_v to_o give_v repentance_n of_o that_o sin_n and_o upon_o that_o repentance_n to_o blot_v out_o the_o remembrance_n of_o it_o do_v thou_o not_o see_v sin_n shall_v never_o be_v lay_v to_o thy_o charge_n thou_o have_v his_o promise_n in_o which_o he_o will_v not_o be_v find_v a_o falsifier_n and_o a_o covenant-breaker_n he_o say_v by_o the_o prophet_n if_o the_o wicked_a will_n return_v 21_o from_o all_o his_o sin_n that_o he_o have_v commit_v and_o keep_v all_o my_o statute_n and_o do_v that_o which_o be_v lawful_a and_o right_a he_o shall_v sure_o live_v and_o shall_v not_o die_v all_o his_o transgression_n that_o he_o have_v commit_v they_o not_o be_v mention_v unto_o he_o but_o in_o his_o righteousness_n that_o he_o have_v do_v he_o shall_v live_v make_v use_n of_o this_o and_o such_o like_a promise_n and_o faint_v not_o in_o thy_o prayer_n this_o be_v to_o cast_v this_o burden_n of_o thou_o upon_o the_o lord_n chap._n xvii_o hitherto_o in_o a_o even_a course_n objection_n the_o sinner_n be_v bring_v to_o see_v his_o sin_n be_v pardonable_a when_o hereupon_o he_o shall_v address_v himself_o to_o serve_v for_o that_o that_o may_v be_v obtain_v and_o to_o seek_v for_o that_o that_o may_v be_v find_v even_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n for_o the_o quench_n of_o his_o accuse_a thought_n and_o peace_n of_o his_o conscience_n behold_v he_o prepare_v himself_o be_v instruct_v and_o prompt_v by_o the_o subtle_a enemy_n to_o object_v against_o the_o possibility_n of_o obtain_v forgiveness_n so_o weaken_v his_o own_o hope_n and_o drown_v his_o own_o comfort_n let_v we_o hear_v his_o objection_n that_o by_o answer_v of_o they_o we_o may_v at_o the_o last_o if_o god_n be_v please_v help_v he_o out_o of_o his_o fear_n &_o bring_v he_o to_o rejoice_v in_o god_n his_o saviour_n first_o he_o object_v say_v though_o my_o sin_n that_o i_o be_o in_o conscience_n charge_v sin_n withal_o be_v not_o blasphemy_n against_o the_o holy-ghost_n and_o therefore_o not_o unpardonable_a yet_o see_v i_o have_v sin_v notorious_o not_o in_o time_n of_o ignorance_n but_o in_o time_n of_o knowledge_n when_o i_o be_v able_a to_o teach_v myself_o and_o other_o that_o such_o thing_n ought_v not_o to_o be_v do_v and_o i_o be_v neither_o surprise_v with_o a_o sudden_a temptation_n that_o give_v i_o no_o time_n to_o consider_v what_o be_v fit_a to_o be_v do_v nor_o forcible_o lead_v captive_a by_o a_o strong_a temptation_n whereto_o my_o weakness_n be_v not_o able_a to_o make_v resistance_n but_o i_o do_v run_v upon_o it_o wilful_o wild_o furious_o strive_v to_o delight_v myself_o with_o the_o pleasure_n of_o sin_n &_o to_o enrich_v myself_o with_o the_o wage_n of_o iniquity_n even_o with_o contempt_n of_o god_n who_o judgement_n at_o the_o same_o time_n i_o remember_v &_o yet_o will_v not_o fear_v himâ—…_n who_o mercy_n and_o goodness_n to_o i_o and_o i_o i_o remember_v and_o yet_o will_v not_o love_v he_o and_o who_o commandment_n require_v the_o contrary_a i_o remember_v &_o yet_o will_v not_o obey_v he_o see_v i_o have_v sin_v in_o this_o manner_n so_o bold_o and_o so_o proud_o my_o sin_n if_o it_o be_v not_o that_o blasphemy_n against_o the_o holy-ghost_n yet_o it_o come_v very_o near_o unto_o it_o and_o so_o near_o that_o i_o fear_v the_o angry_a eye_n of_o heaven_n will_v see_v no_o difference_n betwixt_o they_o &_o then_o where_o be_o i_o with_o this_o possibility_n second_o punishable_a though_o that_o blasphemy_n be_v only_o unpatdonable_a yet_o i_o be_o sure_a it_o be_v not_o the_o sin_n only_o unpardoned_a it_o be_v not_o the_o sin_n that_o be_v only_o punishable_a and_o that_o shall_v only_o be_v punish_v my_o sin_n be_v also_o punishable_a and_o may_v be_v punish_v for_o so_o it_o deserve_v and_o then_o what_o be_o i_o better_a to_o hear_v it_o be_v pardonable_a when_o i_o perish_v in_o it_o last_o i_o know_v that_o less_o sin_n punish_v than_o i_o and_o more_o easy_a to_o be_v excuse_v be_v punish_v in_o hell_n with_o everlasting_a death_n what_o then_o must_v i_o look_v for_o but_o the_o flame_n of_o unquenchable_a fire_n and_o have_v i_o not_o already_o by_o my_o abominable_a sin_n kindle_v that_o fire_n even_o the_o fire_n of_o god_n fierce_a wrath_n against_o i_o which_o have_v already_o begin_v to_o torment_v and_o waste_v my_o conscience_n this_o objection_n consist_v of_o three_o objection_n branch_n the_o first_o be_v this_o that_o his_o wilful_a sin_n come_v so_o near_o to_o the_o height_n of_o that_o unpardonable_a sin_n that_o the_o angry_a eye_n of_o heaven_n he_o fear_v can_v and_o will_v see_v no_o difference_n between_o they_o this_o will_v easy_o be_v answer_v and_o to_o begin_v our_o answer_n i_o must_v entreat_v this_o afflict_a sinner_n to_o remember_v that_o it_o have_v be_v already_o declare_v that_o his_o sin_n though_o grievous_a yet_o be_v pardonable_a and_o let_v he_o to_o this_o purpose_n again_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o our_o saviour_n jesus_n all_o sin_n shall_v be_v forgive_v unto_o 28._o the_o child_n of_o man_n and_o blasphemy_n wherewith_o they_o blaspheme_v and_o how_o near_o soever_o his_o sin_n come_v to_o the_o unpardonable_a sin_n yet_o not_o be_v it_o it_o remain_v pardonable_a and_o this_o ground_n of_o truth_n can_v never_o be_v overthrow_v and_o the_o anger_n of_o heaven_n be_v always_o it_o just_a even_o and_o holy_a do_v neither_o shadow_n the_o understanding_n nor_o disorder_v the_o justice_n of_o god_n that_o he_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o discern_v the_o difference_n of_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o the_o same_o or_o enfold_v they_o rash_o and_o disordered_o in_o the_o same_o sentence_n anger_n be_v not_o in_o god_n a_o disturb_a passion_n as_o it_o be_v in_o man_n but_o it_o be_v the_o most_o even_o and_o holy_a carriage_n of_o his_o justice_n as_o become_v the_o righteous_a judge_n of_o all_o the_o world_n pour_v out_o his_o plague_n upon_o sinner_n and_o execute_v vengeance_n upon_o contemner_n according_a to_o the_o rule_n of_o his_o own_o word_n where_o with_o he_o have_v make_v we_o aforehand_o acquaint_v and_o according_a to_o the_o merit_n of_o man_n work_n against_o which_o their_o own_o conscience_n justify_v god_n
bloody_a hand_n cruel_a heart_n and_o cunning_a and_o deceitful_a head_n but_o such_o a_o one_o be_o i_o i_o have_v wrought_v wickedness_n i_o have_v do_v evil_a i_o have_v through_o the_o foolishness_n of_o my_o heart_n commit_v much_o iniquity_n i_o have_v be_v a_o liar_n my_o hand_n be_v full_a of_o blood_n i_o have_v be_v cruel_a &_o deceitful_a therefore_o i_o be_o deprive_v of_o sin_n as_o my_o escape_n unpunished_a and_o if_o such_o a_o sinner_n as_o i_o may_v ever_o be_v save_v this_o objection_n seem_v to_o consist_v of_o heaven_n two_o part_n inregard_n of_o justice_n that_o can_v suffer_v sin_n to_o escape_v unpunished_a &_o in_o regard_n of_o holiness_n that_o will_v admit_v no_o unclean_a person_n to_o have_v fellowship_n and_o cohabitation_n with_o it_o but_o they_o join_v together_o in_o one_o to_o increase_v this_o poor_a man_n fear_n yet_o let_v we_o help_v he_o with_o our_o answer_n it_o be_v a_o comely_a thing_n to_o to_o think_v reverent_o of_o the_o justice_n and_o holiness_n of_o heaven_n for_o certain_o justice_n will_v not_o suffer_v the_o least_o sin_n to_o escape_v unpunished_a neither_o will_v holiness_n ever_o suffer_v any_o unclean_a thing_n to_o enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n yet_o that_o can_v hence_o be_v conclude_v that_o thou_o gather_v namely_o that_o therefore_o mercy_n can_v find_v no_o free_a passage_n to_o forgive_v thy_o sin_n and_o to_o bring_v thou_o to_o glory_n for_o the_o wisdom_n and_o power_n and_o love_n of_o heaven_n which_o be_v able_a to_o work_v wonder_n above_o the_o reach_n of_o man_n understanding_n will_v find_v yea_o have_v find_v out_o a_o way_n to_o satisfy_v justice_n by_o the_o punish_n of_o sin_n and_o to_o satisfy_v holiness_n by_o the_o purge_n of_o sin_n and_o yet_o to_o save_v the_o sinner_n that_o commit_v that_o sin_n lift_v up_o thy_o heart_n and_o ear_n and_o harken_v to_o that_o that_o shall_v be_v deliver_v &_o thou_o shall_v find_v a_o helmet_n of_o the_o
