the_o word_n our_o petition_n only_o to_o almighty_a god_n wherein_o we_o do_v implore_v his_o goodness_n to_o bestow_v upon_o we_o through_o christ_n what_o he_o know_v to_o be_v best_o both_o for_o our_o body_n and_o soul_n this_o indeed_o be_v the_o most_o proper_a and_o immediate_a sense_n of_o the_o word_n and_o the_o sense_n that_o be_v most_o direct_o here_o intend_v but_o however_o in_o the_o large_a sense_n of_o the_o word_n i_o do_v also_o mean_v by_o pray_v all_o that_o application_n we_o make_v to_o the_o divine_a majesty_n when_o either_o by_o confess_v our_o sin_n unto_o he_o any_o one_o shall_v persevere_v in_o prayer_n and_o yet_o persevere_v withal_o to_o violate_v his_o covenant_n with_o god_n for_o why_o if_o i_o regard_v iniquity_n in_o my_o heart_n that_o be_v if_o i_o do_v not_o repent_v of_o it_o and_o turn_v away_o from_o it_o the_o lord_n will_v not_o hear_v i_o psal_n 66.18_o nay_o the_o wise_a man_n tell_v we_o that_o he_o who_o turn_v away_o his_o ear_n from_o hear_v the_o law_n that_o his_o prayer_n shall_v be_v even_o a_o abomination_n to_o the_o lord_n prov._n 28.9_o so_o that_o whilst_o a_o man_n continue_v impenitent_a his_o prayer_n instead_o
