the_o son_n and_o also_o of_o the_o name_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n and_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n yet_o at_o this_o very_a time_n and_o in_o these_o very_a word_n he_o will_v preach_v nothing_o shall_v say_v what_o be_v it_o to_o speak_v to_o each_o of_o these_o two_o covenant_n so_o as_o to_o set_v they_o in_o their_o right_a place_n and_o also_o to_o use_v the_o terror_n of_o the_o one_o conscience_n that_o certain_o if_o they_o shall_v have_v hell-fire_n throw_v in_o their_o face_n as_o it_o be_v sometime_o cry_v up_o in_o their_o ear_n they_o will_v scarce_o be_v move_v and_o this_o come_v upon_o they_o as_o a_o just_a judgement_n of_o god_n 2_o thess._n 2._o 11_o 12._o three_o if_o thou_o do_v slight_a these_o or_o those_o conviction_n that_o may_v be_v set_v upon_o thy_o thither_o too_o and_o then_o never_o to_o come_v out_o again_o now_o consider_v this_o you_o that_o be_v apt_a to_o forget_v god_n and_o his_o conviction_n lest_o he_o tear_v you_o in_o piece_n and_o there_o be_v none_o to_o deliver_v psal._n 50._o 22._o but_o if_o thou_o shall_v be_v such_o a_o one_o that_o shall_v notwithstanding_o thy_o read_n of_o thy_o misery_n and_o also_o of_o god_n mercy_n do_v the_o thing_n contain_v therein_o for_o for_o to_o continue_v according_a to_o the_o sense_n of_o this_o scripture_n be_v to_o hold_v on_o without_o any_o fail_n either_o in_o thought_n word_n or_o deed_n therefore_o i_o say_v though_o a_o man_n do_v walk_v up_o to_o the_o law_n all_o his_o life_n time_n but_o only_o at_o the_o very_a last_o sin_n one_o time_n before_o he_o die_v he_o be_v sure_a to_o perish_v for_o ever_o die_v under_o that_o covenant_n for_o my_o friend_n you_o must_v understand_v that_o the_o law_n of_o god_n be_v yea_o as_o well_o as_o the_o gospel_n and_o as_o they_o that_o be_v under_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n shall_v sure_o be_v save_v by_o it_o so_o even_o so_o they_o that_o be_v under_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o the_o law_n they_o shall_v sure_o be_v damn_v by_o it_o if_o continue_v there_o this_o be_v the_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o the_o nature_n of_o it_o namely_o not_o to_o bate_v any_o thing_n no_o not_o a_o mite_n to_o he_o that_o live_v and_o die_v under_o it_o i_o tell_v thou_o say_v christ_n thou_o shall_v not_o depart_v thence_o that_o be_v from_o under_o the_o curse_n till_o thou_o have_v pay_v the_o very_a last_o mite_n luke_n 12._o 59_o 5._o again_o you_o must_v consider_v that_o this_o law_n do_v only_o condemn_v word_n and_o action_n as_o i_o say_v before_o but_o it_o have_v authority_n to_o condemn_v the_o take_v hold_v of_o it_o accuse_v and_o also_o will_v condemn_v thou_o for_o it_o you_o may_v see_v one_o instance_n for_o all_o in_o the_o five_o of_o matthew_n at_o the_o 27_o 28._o verse_n where_o christ_n say_v that_o though_o a_o man_n do_v not_o lie_v with_o a_o woman_n carnal_o yet_o if_o he_o do_v but_o look_v on_o she_o and_o in_o his_o heart_n lust_n after_o she_o he_o be_v count_v by_o the_o law_n be_v right_o expound_v such_o a_o one_o that_o have_v commit_v the_o sin_n and_o thereby_o have_v lay_v himself_o under_o the_o condemnation_n of_o the_o law_n and_o so_o likewise_o of_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o command_n if_o there_o be_v any_o thought_n that_o be_v evil_a do_v but_o pass_v through_o thy_o heart_n whether_o it_o be_v against_o god_n or_o against_o man_n in_o thy_o holy_a duty_n and_o watch_v over_o thou_o there_o to_o see_v whether_o thou_o do_v do_v all_o thing_n aright_o there_o that_o be_v to_o say_v whether_o when_o thou_o do_v pray_v thy_o heart_n have_v no_o wander_a thought_n in_o it_o whether_o thou_o do_v every_o holy_a duty_n thou_o do_v perfect_o without_o the_o least_o mixture_n of_o sin_n and_o if_o it_o do_v find_v thou_o to_o slip_v or_o in_o the_o least_o measure_n to_o fail_v in_o any_o holy_a duty_n that_o thou_o do_v perform_v the_o law_n take_v hold_v on_o that_o and_o findeth_z fault_n with_o that_o so_o as_o to_o render_v all_o the_o holy_a duty_n that_o ever_o thou_o do_v unavailable_a because_o of_o that_o i_o say_v if_o when_o thou_o be_v a_o hear_n there_o be_v out_o one_o vain_a thought_n or_o in_o pray_v but_o one_o vain_a thought_n or_o in_o any_o other_o thing_n whatsoever_o let_v it_o be_v civil_a or_o spiritual_a one_o vain_a think_v once_o in_o all_o thy_o life_n time_n will_v cause_v the_o law_n to_o my_o intent_n at_o this_o time_n to_o enlarge_v on_o the_o several_a command_n in_o particular_a for_o that_o will_v be_v very_o i_o to_o write_v and_o thou_o to_o read_v only_o thus_o much_o i_o will_v have_v thou_o to_o do_v at_o the_o read_n hereof_o make_v a_o pause_n and_o sit_v still_o one_o quarter_n of_o a_o hour_n and_o muse_v a_o little_a in_o thy_o mind_n thus_o with_o thyself_o and_o say_v do_v i_o ever_o break_v the_o law_n yea_o or_o no_o have_v i_o ever_o in_o all_o my_o life_n time_n one_o sinful_a thought_n pass_v through_o my_o heart_n since_o i_o be_v bear_v yea_o or_o no_o and_o if_o thou_o find_v thyself_o guilty_a as_o i_o be_o sure_a thou_o can_v not_o otherwise_o choose_v but_o do_v unless_o thou_o shut_v thy_o eye_n against_o thy_o every_o day_n practice_n then_o i_o say_v conclude_v thyself_o guilty_a of_o the_o breach_n of_o the_o first_o covenant_n and_o when_o that_o this_o be_v do_v be_v sure_a in_o the_o next_o place_n thou_o do_v not_o straightway_o forget_v it_o and_o put_v it_o out_o of_o thy_o mind_n that_o thou_o be_v condemn_v by_o the_o same_o covenant_n and_o then_o do_v not_o content_v thyself_o until_o thou_o do_v find_v that_o god_n have_v send_v thou_o a_o pardon_n from_o heaven_n through_o the_o merit_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n the_o mediator_n of_o the_o second_o covenant_n and_o if_o god_n shall_v but_o give_v thou_o a_o heart_n to_o take_v this_o my_o counsel_n i_o do_v make_v no_o question_n but_o these_o word_n speak_v by_o i_o will_v prove_v a_o instrument_n for_o the_o direct_n of_o thy_o heart_n to_o the_o right_a remedy_n for_o the_o salvation_n of_o thy_o soul._n thus_o much_o now_o touch_v the_o law_n and_o the_o severity_n of_o it_o upon_o the_o person_n that_o be_v find_v under_o it_o have_v offend_v or_o break_v any_o particular_a of_o it_o either_o in_o thought_n word_n or_o action_n and_o now_o before_o i_o do_v proceed_v to_o the_o next_o thing_n i_o shall_v answer_v four_o objection_n that_o do_v he_o in_o my_o way_n and_o also_o such_o as_o do_v stumble_v most_o part_n of_o the_o world_n the_o first_o objection_n and_o first_o but_o you_o will_v say_v methinks_v you_o speak_v very_o harsh_a it_o be_v enough_o to_o daunt_v a_o body_n set_v the_o case_n therefore_o that_o a_o man_n after_o he_o have_v sin_v and_o break_v the_o law_n repent_v of_o his_o wickedness_n and_o promise_v to_o do_v so_o no_o more_o will_v not_o god_n have_v mercy_n then_o and_o save_v a_o poor_a sinner_n then_o 1._o answ._n i_o tell_v you_o before_o that_o the_o covenant_n once_o break_v will_v execute_v upon_o the_o offender_n that_o which_o it_o do_v threaten_v to_o lay_v upon_o he_o and_o as_o for_o your_o suppose_n that_o your_o repent_v and_o promise_v to_o do_v so_o no_o more_o may_v help_v well_o and_o put_v you_o

man_n where_o they_o be_v corrupt_v and_o pervert_v yet_o the_o law_n of_o god_n be_v of_o that_o nature_n that_o if_o it_o have_v not_o thy_o own_o blood_n or_o the_o blood_n of_o some_o other_o man_n for_o it_o call_v for_o no_o loss_n for_o to_o ransom_v thou_o from_o the_o curse_n of_o it_o be_v due_a to_o thou_o for_o thy_o transgression_n and_o to_o satisfy_v the_o cry_n the_o doleful_a cry_n thereof_o and_o ever_o for_o to_o present_v thou_o pure_a and_o spotless_a before_o god_n notwithstanding_o this_o fiery_a law_n thou_o be_v go_v if_o thou_o have_v a_o thousand_o soul_n for_o without_o shed_v of_o blood_n there_o be_v no_o remission_n heb._n 9_o 22._o no_o forgiuness_n of_o the_o least_o sin_n against_o the_o law_n object_n 4._o but_o you_o will_v say_v i_o do_v not_o only_o repent_v 〈◊〉_d of_o my_o form_a life_n and_o also_o promise_v to_o do_v so_o no_o more_o but_o now_o i_o do_v labour_n to_o be_v righteous_a and_o to_o live_v a_o holy_a life_n and_o now_o instead_o of_o be_v a_o breaker_n of_o the_o law_n i_o do_v labour_n to_o fulfil_v the_o same_o what_o say_v you_o to_o that_o answ._n see_v the_o case_n thou_o can_v walk_v like_o a_o angel_n of_o god_n set_v the_o case_n thou_o can_v fulfil_v the_o whole_a law_n and_o live_v from_o this_o day_n to_o thy_o life_n end_v without_o sin_v in_o thought_n word_n or_o deed_n which_o be_v unpossible_a but_o i_o say_v set_v the_o case_n it_o shall_v be_v so_o why_o thy_o state_n be_v as_o bad_a if_o thou_o be_v under_o the_o first_o covenant_n as_o ever_o it_o be_v for_o first_o i_o know_v thou_o dare_v not_o say_v but_o thou_o have_v at_o one_o time_n or_o other_o sin_v and_o it_o so_o than_o the_o law_n have_v condemn_v thou_o and_o it_o so_o than_o i_o be_o sure_a that_o thou_o with_o all_o thy_o action_n and_o work_n of_o righteousness_n can_v not_o remove_v the_o dreadful_a and_o unresistible_a curse_n that_o be_v already_o lay_v upon_o thou_o by_o that_o law_n which_o thou_o be_v under_o and_o which_o thou_o have_v sin_v against_o though_o thou_o live_v the_o holy_a life_n that_o any_o man_n can_v live_v in_o this_o world_n be_v under_o the_o law_n of_o work_n and_o so_o not_o under_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n thou_o must_v be_v cut_v off_o without_o remedy_n for_o thou_o have_v sin_v though_o afterward_o thou_o live_v never_o so_o well_o the_o reason_n for_o this_o that_o have_v be_v speak_v be_v these_o first_o though_o nature_n of_o god_n justice_n call_v for_o it_o that_o be_v it_o call_v for_o irrecoverable_a ruin_n on_o they_o that_o transgress_v against_o office_n which_o be_v to_o punish_v the_o transgressor_n against_o it_o you_o must_v understand_v that_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n be_v as_o unchangeable_a as_o his_o love_n his_o justice_n can_v change_v its_o nature_n justice_n it_o be_v if_o it_o be_v please_v and_o justice_n it_o be_v be_v if_o it_o displease_v the_o justice_n of_o god_n in_o this_o place_n may_v be_v compare_v to_o fire_n there_o be_v a_o great_a fire_n make_v in_o some_o place_n if_o thou_o do_v keep_v out_o of_o it_o it_o be_v fire_n if_o thou_o do_v fall_v into_o it_o thou_o will_v find_v it_o fire_n and_o escape_v damn_v god_n must_v be_v unfaithful_a to_o himself_o and_o to_o his_o word_n which_o both_o agree_v as_o one_o first_o he_o will_v be_v unfaithful_a to_o himself_o to_o himself_o that_o be_v to_o his_o justice_n holiness_n righteousness_n wisdom_n and_o power_n if_o he_o shall_v offer_v to_o stop_v the_o run_n out_o of_o his_o justice_n for_o the_o damn_v of_o they_o that_o have_v offend_v it_o and_o second_o he_o will_v be_v unfaithful_a to_o his_o word_n his_o write_a word_n and_o deny_v disown_n and_o break_v that_o of_o which_o he_o have_v say_v luk._n 16._o 7._o it_o be_v easy_a for_o heaven_n and_o earth_n to_o pass_v away_o than_o for_o one_o tittle_n of_o the_o law_n to_o fail_v or_o be_v make_v of_o none_o effect_n now_o if_o he_o shall_v not_o according_a to_o his_o certain_a declaration_n therein_o take_v vengeance_n on_o those_o that_o fall_n and_o die_v within_o the_o threat_n and_o sad_a curse_n denounce_v it_o that_o his_o word_n can_v not_o be_v and_o they_o shall_v have_v peace_n though_o they_o walk_v after_o the_o imagination_n of_o their_o own_o heart_n deut._n 29._o 19_o 20._o and_o be_v not_o so_o strict_a as_o the_o word_n command_v just_a perfect_o holy_a and_o eternal_o holy_a perfect_o faithful_a and_o eternal_o faithful_a that_o be_v without_o any_o variableness_n or_o shadow_n of_o turn_v but_o perfect_o continue_v the_o same_o and_o can_v as_o well_o cease_v to_o be_v god_n as_o to_o alter_v or_o change_v the_o nature_n of_o his_o godhead_n and_o as_o he_o be_v thus_o the_o perfection_n of_o all_o perfection_n he_o give_v out_o his_o law_n to_o be_v obey_v but_o if_o any_o offend_v it_o than_o they_o fall_v into_o the_o hand_n of_o this_o his_o eternal_a justice_n and_o so_o must_v drink_v of_o his_o irrecoverable_a wrath_n which_o be_v the_o execution_n of_o the_o same_o justice_n i_o say_v this_o be_v thus_o the_o law_n be_v break_v justice_n take_v place_n and_o so_o faithfulness_n follow_v to_o see_v that_o execution_n be_v do_v and_o also_o to_o testify_v that_o he_o be_v true_a and_o do_v denounce_v his_o unspeakable_a ●nsupportable_a and_o unchangeable_a vengeance_n on_o the_o party_n offend_v second_o because_o thou_o be_v not_o as_o infinite_a as_o god_n but_o a_o poor_a create_a weed_n that_o be_v here_o to_o day_n and_o go_v to_o morrow_n and_o not_o able_a to_o answer_v god_n in_o his_o essence_n be_v and_o attribute_n thou_o be_v find_v to_o fall_v under_o he_o for_o that_o thy_o soul_n or_o body_n can_v do_v nothing_o that_o be_v infinite_a in_o such_o a_o way_n as_o to_o satisfy_v this_o god_n which_o be_v a_o infinite_a god_n in_o all_o his_o attribute_n but_o to_o declare_v unto_o you_o the_o misery_n of_o man_n

by_o this_o law_n to_o purpose_n i_o do_v beseech_v you_o to_o take_v notice_n of_o these_o follow_a particular_n beside_o what_o have_v be_v already_o speak_v first_o i_o shall_v show_v the_o danger_n of_o they_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o law_n as_o they_o come_v from_o adam_n second_o as_o they_o be_v in_o their_o own_o person_n particular_o under_o it_o 1._o first_o as_o they_o come_v from_o adam_n they_o be_v in_o a_o sad_a condition_n because_o he_o leave_v they_o a_o break_a covenant_n or_o take_v it_o thus_o because_o they_o while_o they_o be_v in_o he_o do_v with_o he_o break_v that_o covenant_n oh_o this_o be_v the_o treasure_n that_o adam_n leave_v to_o his_o posterity_n it_o be_v a_o break_a covenant_n insomuch_o that_o death_n reign_v over_o all_o his_o child_n and_o do_v still_o to_o this_o day_n as_o they_o come_v from_o he_o both_o natural_a and_o eternal_a death_n rom._n the_o 5._o it_o may_v be_v drunkard_n swearer_n liar_n thief_n thou_o do_v not_o think_v of_o this_o 2._o second_o he_o do_v not_o only_o leave_v they_o a_o break_a covenant_n but_o also_o make_v they_o himself_z sinner_n against_o it_o he_o make_v they_o sinner_n by_o one_o man_n which_o at_o first_o they_o be_v enable_v to_o stand_v and_o leave_v they_o no_o more_o than_o dead_a man_n oh_o helpless_a state_n oh_o how_o beggarly_a and_o miserable_a be_v the_o son_n of_o adam_n 4._o four_o not_o only_o so_o but_o also_o before_o he_o leave_v they_o he_o be_v the_o conduit-pipe_n through_o which_o the_o devil_n do_v convey_v of_o his_o poison_a spawn_n and_o venom_n nature_n into_o the_o heart_n of_o adam_n son_n and_o daughter_n by_o which_o they_o be_v at_o this_o day_n so_o strong_o and_o so_o violent_o carry_v away_o that_o they_o fly_v as_o fast_o to_o hell_n and_o
