any_o thing_n be_v say_v relate_v to_o liberty_n and_o therefore_o this_o latter_a deliverance_n be_v principal_o intend_v in_o order_n to_o the_o former_a the_o former_a viz._n that_o from_o sin_n must_v necessary_o be_v the_o christian_a liberty_n four_o none_o but_o the_o israelite_n be_v oblige_v to_o the_o observance_n of_o this_o law_n indeed_o in_o order_n to_o a_o gentile_n partake_v of_o the_o jewish_a privilege_n in_o the_o land_n of_o canaan_n it_o be_v necessary_a he_o shall_v be_v circumcise_a and_o become_v as_o their_o phrase_n be_v a_o proselyte_n of_o justice_n and_o so_o make_v himself_o a_o debtor_n to_o the_o whole_a law_n but_o it_o be_v not_o necessary_a to_o his_o acceptance_n with_o god_n and_o eternal_a happiness_n to_o yield_v obedience_n to_o this_o law_n it_o be_v sufficient_a for_o he_o to_o worship_v the_o true_a god_n and_o renounce_v idolatry_n and_o to_o follow_v the_o dictate_v of_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n even_o the_o jew_n themselves_o as_o ill_o affect_v as_o they_o be_v towards_o the_o gentile_n do_v acknowledge_v no_o more_o to_o be_v necessary_a than_o the_o observation_n of_o the_o seven_o precept_n of_o noah_n to_o their_o have_v part_n with_o they_o that_o he_o to_o who_o this_o character_n do_v not_o belong_v be_v no_o genuine_a christian_n be_v apparent_a in_o that_o such_o a_o person_n be_v no_o freeman_n and_o as_o a_o great_a number_n of_o text_n do_v plain_o speak_v the_o former_a proposition_n to_o be_v true_a so_o be_v it_o to_o be_v conclude_v from_o what_o have_v be_v discourse_v of_o the_o nature_n of_o christian_a liberty_n from_o our_o have_v demonstrate_v that_o it_o consist_v in_o deliverance_n from_o all_o enslave_v lust_n and_o in_o have_v all_o obstacle_n take_v out_o of_o the_o way_n to_o our_o discourse_n of_o christian_a liberty_n what_o be_v the_o most_o proper_a and_o genuine_a christian_a obedience_n sure_o that_o which_o have_v most_o of_o liberty_n in_o it_o that_o obedience_n which_o be_v most_o free_a and_o least_o force_v that_o which_o spring_v from_o a_o inward_a live_a principle_n and_o be_v not_o mere_o occasion_v by_o the_o consideration_n of_o external_n motive_n and_o argument_n and_o then_o do_v a_o man_n act_n from_o a_o inward_a principle_n of_o life_n when_o he_o act_n from_o the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o goodness_n there_o be_v scarce_o any_o distinction_n betwixt_o these_o two_o for_o to_o love_n god_n that_o be_v as_o god_n be_v to_o be_v enamour_a primary_o with_o his_o most_o beautiful_a and_o amiable_a perfection_n of_o in_o love_n with_o these_o perfection_n primary_o and_o to_o love_v his_o person_n upon_o the_o account_n of_o they_o if_o it_o be_v lawful_a to_o distinguish_v they_o and_o abstract_n his_o person_n from_o his_o perfection_n but_o those_o do_v most_o true_o conceive_v of_o that_o incomprehensible_a be_v who_o make_v no_o such_o abstraction_n but_o describe_v he_o by_o call_v he_o infinite_a righteousness_n and_o purity_n bounty_n and_o mercy_n wisdom_n and_o power_n etc._n etc._n rather_o than_o a_o be_v in_o who_o be_v all_o these_o perfection_n for_o they_o be_v not_o so_o proper_o say_v to_o be_v in_o god_n as_o to_o be_v god_n himself_o thus_o limit_v that_o maxim_n of_o the_o school_n be_v indisputable_o true_a viz._n quicquid_fw-la est_fw-la in_o deo_fw-la est_fw-la ipse_fw-la deus_fw-la whatsoever_o be_v in_o god_n be_v god_n himself_o so_o that_o i_o say_v to_o love_n god_n and_o to_o love_v goodness_n as_o such_o do_v amount_v to_o the_o same_o thing_n to_o love_n god_n not_o because_o good_a in_o himself_o but_o because_o good_a and_o kind_a to_o i_o be_v more_o self-love_n than_o a_o love_n of_o god_n a_o wicked_a man_n may_v thus_o love_v god_n for_o as_o the_o wise_a man_n observe_v that_o every_o man_n be_v a_o friend_n to_o he_o that_o give_v gift_n so_o be_v he_o especial_o to_o he_o that_o bestow_v gift_n upon_o himself_o the_o very_a brute_n nature_n and_o when_o we_o act_v from_o this_o principle_n we_o act_v from_o a_o new_a nature_n and_o i_o need_v not_o say_v that_o no_o action_n be_v so_o free_a as_o natural_a action_n thus_o to_o god_n like_o unto_o thou_o that_o pardon_v iniquity_n and_o pass_v by_o the_o transgression_n of_o the_o remnant_n of_o his_o heritage_n he_o retain_v not_o his_o anger_n for_o ever_o and_o why_o he_o do_v not_o the_o next_o word_n tell_v we_o because_o he_o delight_v in_o mercy_n mic._n 7._o 18._o and_o our_o imitate_v of_o god_n and_o be_v like_a to_o he_o be_v the_o great_a design_n and_o business_n of_o our_o saviour_n religion_n but_o i_o will_v not_o be_v understand_v as_o if_o i_o affirm_v that_o that_o obedience_n which_o spring_v from_o hope_n or_o fear_v or_o be_v excite_v by_o the_o consideration_n of_o reward_n and_o punishment_n be_v a_o obedience_n not_o become_v and_o unworthy_a of_o christian_n if_o so_o i_o shall_v condemn_v our_o saviour_n and_o his_o apostle_n for_o propose_v such_o motive_n but_o i_o say_v first_o that_o the_o most_o genuine_o christian_a obedience_n be_v that_o which_o proceed_v from_o love_n from_o the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o goodness_n not_o that_o christianity_n do_v exclude_v all_o other_o motive_n but_o this_o be_v the_o chief_a and_o principal_a because_o it_o make_v our_o obedience_n most_o free_a and_o make_v we_o most_o state_n as_o that_o which_o consist_v in_o a_o perfect_a likeness_n to_o god_n as_o perfect_a as_o our_o nature_n be_v capable_a of_o and_o a_o full_a and_o complete_a enjoyment_n of_o he_o and_o of_o
