CXXIV IF it had not been the Lord who was on our side now may Israel say 2 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side when men rose up against us IF God had not been on our side may Israel now say â—… If God had not been our side when men rose us to slay 3 Then they had swallowed us up quick when their wrath was kindled against us 4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us the stream had gone over our soul. 3 They had us swallowed quick when as 'gainst us their wrath was kindled 4 Then overwhelm'd us waters had the stream our soul had covered 5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul. 6 Blessed be the Lord who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth 5 Then likewise waters that are proud gone ov're our soul had they 6 Blest be the Lord who to their teeth not gave us as a prey 7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers the snare is broken and we are escaped 7 Our soul 's escaped as a bird out of the foulers snare
