divine_n venerable_a for_o their_o great_a learning_n as_o well_o as_o for_o their_o eminent_a holiness_n do_v conceive_v sole_a episcopal_a jurisdiction_n to_o be_v the_o very_a seat_n of_o the_o beast_n upon_o which_o the_o five_o angel_n be_v now_o pour_v out_o his_o vial_n which_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o the_o man_n of_o that_o kingdom_n gnaw_v thâ—â—r_a tongue_n for_o pain_n 11._o circumstance_v which_o we_o swear_v to_o extirpate_v read_v else_o the_o clause_n again_o prelacy_n that_o be_v church-government_n by_o archbishop_n bishop_n their_o chancellor_n etc._n etc._n not_o every_o or_o all_o kind_n of_o prelacy_n not_o prelacy_n in_o the_o latitude_n of_o the_o notion_n thereof_o 2._o and_o second_o let_v we_o join_v issue_n upon_o this_o point_n and_o make_v no_o more_o word_n of_o it_o if_o there_o be_v a_o episcopacy_n or_o prelacy_n find_v in_o the_o word_n as_o the_o way_n of_o gospel_n government_n which_o christ_n have_v bequeath_v the_o church_n and_o this_o be_v make_v appear_v we_o be_v so_o far_o from_o swear_v to_o extirpate_v such_o a_o prelacy_n as_o that_o rather_o we_o be_v bind_v by_o virtue_n to_o this_o oath_n to_o entertain_v it_o as_o the_o mind_n and_o will_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o this_o may_v suffice_v to_o warrant_v our_o covenant_a to_o extirpate_v this_o prelacy_n save_o that_o only_a yet_o some_o seem_v conscientious_o to_o scruple_n this_o in_o the_o last_o place_n object_n law_n prelacy_n establish_v by_o law_n that_o they_o see_v not_o what_o there_o be_v to_o warrant_v our_o swear_n to_o extirpate_v that_o which_o be_v establish_v by_o the_o law_n of_o the_o land_n till_o the_o same_o law_n have_v abolish_v it_o to_o which_o i_o answer_v answ_n 1._o if_o the_o law_n of_o the_o land_n have_v abolish_v it_o we_o need_v not_o swear_v the_o extirpation_n of_o it_o 2._o in_o this_o oath_n the_o parliament_n of_o both_o kingdom_n go_v before_o we_o who_o have_v the_o legislative_a power_n in_o their_o swear_v to_o preserve_v the_o law_n and_o therefore_o to_o swear_v to_o endeavour_v the_o extirpation_n of_o prelacy_n which_o be_v establish_v by_o law_n be_v to_o contradict_v their_o own_o oath_n and_o run_v the_o hazard_n of_o perjury_n it_o be_v easy_a for_o any_o one_o to_o observe_v and_o answer_v answ_n 1._o that_o by_o the_o same_o argument_n neither_o may_v king_n and_o parliament_n together_o change_n or_o annul_v a_o law_n though_o find_v destructive_a to_o the_o good_a of_o the_o kingdom_n since_o his_o majesty_n as_o well_o as_o his_o subject_n be_v bind_v up_o under_o the_o and_o may_v as_o i_o say_v before_o endeavour_v the_o removeall_n of_o such_o as_o be_v find_v pernicious_a to_o the_o church_n or_o state_n and_o make_v such_o as_o will_v advantage_v the_o welfare_n of_o other_o his_o majesty_n be_v bind_v by_o his_o coronation-oath_n to_o confirm_v these_o law_n quas_fw-la vulgus_fw-la elegerit_fw-la which_o the_o commons_o shall_v agree_v upon_o and_o present_a swear_v unto_o answ_n i_o shall_v answer_v first_o the_o general_a charge_n and_o then_o some_o of_o the_o particular_n which_o be_v most_o material_a in_o general_n i_o answer_v religion_n answer_v privilege_n of_o the_o parliament_n and_o the_o liberty_n of_o the_o kingdom_n be_v and_o how_o can_v they_o then_o swear_v to_o maintain_v they_o know_v not_o what_o answ_n 1._o by_o the_o same_o argument_n no_o man_n or_o very_o few_o may_v lawful_o swear_v to_o maintain_v the_o king_n prerogative_n in_o the_o oath_n of_o allegiance_n and_o supremacy_n nor_o the_o king_n himself_o swear_v
