thus_o that_o we_o shall_v sincere_o real_o and_o constant_o through_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n endeavour_v the_o extirpation_n of_o popery_n and_o prelacy_n that_o be_v church_n government_n by_o archbishop_n bishop_n their_o chancellor_n and_o commissary_n dean_n dean_n and_o chapter_n archdeacon_n and_o all_o other_o ecclesiastical_a officer_n depend_v on_o that_o hierarchy_n superstition_n heresy_n schism_n profaneness_n and_o whatsoever_o shall_v be_v find_v contrary_a to_o sound_v doctrine_n and_o the_o power_n of_o godliness_n lest_o we_o partake_v in_o other_o man_n sin_n and_o thereby_o be_v in_o danger_n to_o receive_v of_o their_o plague_n and_o that_o the_o lord_n may_v be_v one_o and_o his_o name_n one_o in_o the_o three_o kingdom_n this_o express_o relate_v to_o the_o prelacy_n or_o episcopacy_n then_o in_o be_v and_o use_n in_o england_n which_o be_v far_o from_o apostolic_a and_o primitive_a as_o this_o doctor_n in_o his_o word_n before_o cite_v out_o of_o his_o book_n of_o tear_n etc._n etc._n have_v clear_o confess_v and_o to_o the_o extirpate_v of_o whatsoever_o in_o it_o savour_v of_o superstition_n tyranny_n schism_n profaneness_n sinfulness_n or_o be_v otherwise_o contrary_a to_o sound_v doctrine_n or_o the_o power_n of_o godliness_n if_o there_o be_v any_o other_o episcopacy_n true_o apostolic_a and_o primitive_a free_a from_o all_o these_o evil_n and_o agreeable_a to_o sound_v doctrine_n and_o the_o power_n of_o godliness_n it_o be_v so_o far_o from_o the_o sense_n and_o intention_n of_o this_o covenant_n to_o extirpate_v it_o that_o it_o plain_o include_v rather_o a_o bind_n of_o all_o covenanter_n to_o endeavour_v by_o all_o lawful_a and_o fit_a way_n and_o mean_n to_o procure_v it_o 2._o that_o herein_o by_o the_o doctor_n own_o allegation_n all_o sober_a honest_a man_n that_o right_o understand_v themselves_o and_o the_o true_a meaning_n of_o the_o covenant_n concur_v with_o he_o himself_o say_v pag._n 22._o that_o the_o covenant_n be_v no_o way_n in_o conscience_n to_o be_v stretch_v against_o a_o right_n and_o regular_a episcopacy_n no_o more_o than_o physic_n give_v to_o cure_v a_o disease_n shall_v like_v unmortified_a quick_a silver_n be_v apply_v to_o kill_v the_o man_n and_o this_o he_o know_v be_v the_o sense_n of_o the_o most_o learned_a man_n in_o the_o assembly_n and_o this_o he_o say_v pag._n 23._o he_o have_v often_o hear_v mr._n marshal_n vilisi_v marshal_n this_o may_v put_v he_o in_o mind_n that_o hereupon_o himself_o take_v the_o covenant_n which_o he_o now_o so_o much_o vilisi_v and_o other_o affirm_v who_o have_v a_o great_a hand_n in_o pen_v and_o promote_a the_o covenant_n and_o they_o own_v it_o to_o some_o foreign_a divine_n that_o the_o covenant_n be_v level_v at_o the_o despoticum_fw-la tyrannicum_fw-la regimen_fw-la misgovernment_n not_o the_o government_n by_o episcopacy_n to_o which_o he_o add_v this_o be_v at_o present_a the_o sense_n and_o hope_n of_o the_o most_o learned_a and_o godly_a presbyterian_o who_o i_o have_v late_o speak_v with_o in_o london_n and_o elsewhere_o etc._n etc._n and_o a_o little_a after_o he_o beseech_v god_n that_o by_o his_o majesty_n piety_n and_o wisdom_n all_o those_o material_n which_o be_v good_a in_o that_o ancient_a noble_a and_o venerable_a fabric_n of_o episcopacy_n may_v be_v speedy_o and_o resolute_o settle_v in_o its_o best_a constitution_n wherein_o to_o take_v counsel_n be_v kingly_a and_o christian_n but_o whereas_o he_o there_o pag._n 23._o say_v that_o this_o be_v also_o the_o sense_n of_o those_o who_o with_o himself_o have_v as_o much_o right_a to_o sit_v among_o they_o that_o be_v in_o the_o assembly_n as_o any_o other_o but_o be_v not_o permit_v either_o by_o popular_a faction_n and_o tumult_n or_o by_o other_o shuffling_n and_o reason_n of_o state_n which_o take_v care_n to_o exclude_v or_o deter_v all_o the_o excellent_a bishop_n of_o the_o church_n and_o the_o most_o able_a of_o episcopal_a divine_n for_o fear_v there_o shall_v have_v be_v any_o just_a plea_n for_o moderate_a episcopacy_n against_o the_o then_o magistry_n of_o presbytery_n to_o this_o i_o must_v give_v this_o answer_n 1._o that_o i_o willing_o accept_v of_o that_o part_n of_o this_o speech_n that_o this_o to_o wit_n what_o be_v before_o by_o he_o speak_v and_o by_o i_o allege_v touch_v the_o right_a episcopacy_n be_v the_o sense_n of_o himself_o and_o of_o those_o that_o by_o his_o tell_n have_v right_a to_o fit_v in_o the_o assembly_n to_o make_v out_o my_o present_a assertion_n of_o the_o concurrence_n of_o able_a man_n herein_o 2._o that_o which_o he_o here_o affirm_v either_o of_o himself_o or_o any_o other_o have_v right_o to_o sit_v in_o the_o assembly_n of_o divine_n call_v by_o ordinance_n of_o both_o house_n of_o parliament_n date_v june_n 12._o 1643._o that_o they_o be_v not_o permit_v either_o by_o popular_a faction_n and_o tumult_n or_o by_o other_o shuffling_n who_o be_v not_o at_o all_o choose_a to_o sit_v there_o i_o admit_v what_o he_o say_v to_o be_v true_a but_o if_o he_o intend_v to_o insinuate_v that_o he_o be_v choose_v and_o yet_o not_o permit_v to_o sit_v this_o be_v a_o loud_a untruth_n for_o he_o be_v then_o as_o i_o remember_v parson_n of_o the_o deanery_n of_o bocking_n in_o essex_n which_o albeit_o it_o be_v repute_v to_o be_v worth_a 4_o or_o 500_o l._n per_fw-la a_o yet_o he_o to_o his_o shame_n and_o the_o little_a honour_n of_o those_o that_o employ_v he_o be_v nonresident_a from_o it_o and_o preach_v at_o the_o temple_n be_v not_o choose_v to_o be_v one_o of_o the_o assembly_n for_o in_o essex_n be_v choose_v mr._n stephen_n marshal_n of_o finchingfield_n mr._n obadiah_n sedgwick_n then_o of_o
