cr_n diev_n et_fw-fr mon_fw-fr droit_n honi_fw-fr soit_fw-fr qvi_fw-fr mal_fw-fr y_fw-fr pense_fw-fr by_o the_o king_n a_o proclamation_n for_o make_v currant_n his_o majesty_n farthing_n &_o halfpence_n of_o copper_n and_o forbid_v all_o other_o to_o be_v use_v charles_n r._n whereas_o of_o late_a year_n several_a person_n and_o corporation_n upon_o pretence_n that_o there_o want_v small_a money_n to_o be_v currant_n in_o low_a and_o ordinary_a payment_n among_o the_o poor_a sort_n have_v presume_v to_o cause_v certain_a piece_n of_o brass_n copper_n and_o other_o base_a metal_n to_o be_v stamp_v with_o their_o private_a stamp_n and_o then_o impose_v those_o piece_n upon_o our_o poor_a subject_n for_o penny_n halfpence_n or_o farthing_n as_o the_o maker_n thereof_o be_v please_v to_o call_v they_o whereby_o our_o subject_n have_v be_v great_o defraud_v and_o our_o royal_a authority_n and_o the_o law_n of_o our_o kingdom_n violate_v and_o whereas_o we_o for_o prevention_n of_o the_o like_a abuse_n for_o the_o time_n to_o come_v do_v not_o only_o direct_v a_o severe_a prosecution_n of_o the_o offender_n but_o do_v likewise_o command_v the_o officer_n of_o our_o mint_n to_o cause_v many_o thousand_o of_o pound_n of_o good_a sterling_a silver_n to_o be_v coin_v into_o single_a penny_n and_o twopence_n that_o so_o there_o may_v be_v good_a money_n currant_n among_o the_o poor_a of_o our_o subject_n and_o fit_v for_o their_o small_a traffic_n and_o commerce_n hope_v by_o one_o or_o both_o these_o mean_n to_o have_v total_o suppress_v the_o unlawful_a practice_n of_o these_o offender_n since_o which_o time_n we_o have_v find_v by_o experience_n that_o the_o mischief_n have_v still_o increase_v partly_o by_o have_v our_o small_a silver_n money_n buy_v in_o and_o hoard_v up_o that_o so_o there_o may_v be_v a_o scarcity_n thereof_o in_o common_a payment_n but_o chief_o by_o the_o vast_a gain_n and_o profit_n which_o these_o stamper_n make_v to_o themselves_o and_o for_o which_o they_o choose_v to_o run_v any_o hazard_n of_o law_n rather_o than_o quit_v the_o hope_n of_o their_o private_a lucre_n we_o therefore_o take_v the_o premise_n into_o our_o princely_a consideration_n and_o believe_v that_o our_o subject_n will_v not_o easy_o be_v wrought_v upon_o to_o accept_v the_o farthing_n and_o halfpence_n of_o these_o private_a stamper_n if_o there_o be_v not_o some_o kind_n of_o necessity_n for_o such_o small_a coin_n to_o be_v make_v for_o public_a use_n which_o can_v well_o be_v do_v in_o silver_n nor_o safe_o in_o any_o other_o metal_n unless_o the_o intrinsic_a value_n of_o the_o coin_n be_v equal_a or_o near_o to_o that_o value_n for_o which_o it_o be_v make_v currant_n have_v think_v fit_a by_o advice_n of_o our_o privy_a council_n to_o cause_v certain_a farthing_n and_o halfpence_n of_o copper_n to_o be_v stamp_v at_o our_o mint_n according_a to_o such_o form_n and_o with_o such_o impression_n as_o we_o have_v direct_v and_o we_o have_v give_v special_a charge_n to_o our_o officer_n there_o that_o they_o cause_v such_o halfpence_n and_o farthing_n so_o to_o be_v coin_v to_o contain_v as_o much_o copper_n in_o weight_n as_o shall_v be_v of_o the_o true_a intrinsic_a value_n and_o worth_n of_o a_o halfpenny_n or_o farthing_n respective_o the_o charge_n of_o coin_v and_o utter_v being_n only_o deduct_v and_o we_o do_v further_o by_o this_o our_o royal_a proclamation_n declare_v publish_v and_o authorize_v the_o say_v halfpence_n and_o farthing_n of_o copper_n so_o coin_v and_o to_o be_v coin_v to_o be_v currant_n money_n and_o that_o the_o same_o from_o and_o after_o this_o instant_n 16_o the_o day_n of_o august_n shall_v pass_v and_o be_v receive_v in_o all_o payment_n bargain_n and_o exchange_n to_o be_v have_v or_o make_v between_o our_o subject_n which_o shall_v be_v under_o the_o value_n of_o six_o penny_n and_o not_o otherwise_o nor_o in_o any_o other_o manner_n and_o if_o any_o person_n or_o person_n body_n politic_a or_o corporate_a shall_v after_o the_o first_o day_n of_o september_n next_o presume_v to_o make_v vend_fw-mi or_o utter_v any_o penny_n halfpence_n farthing_n or_o other_o piece_n of_o brass_n copper_n or_o other_o base_a metal_n other_o than_o the_o halfpence_n and_o farthing_n by_o this_o our_o royal_a proclamation_n authorize_v and_o allow_v or_o shall_v offer_v to_o counterfeit_v any_o of_o our_o halfpence_n or_o farthing_n we_o shall_v hold_v all_o such_o offender_n utter_o inexcusable_a and_o shall_v cause_v their_o contempt_n of_o our_o law_n and_o government_n to_o be_v chastise_v with_o exemplary_a severity_n give_v at_o our_o court_n at_o whitehall_n the_o 16_o the_o day_n of_o august_n in_o the_o 24_o the_o year_n of_o our_o reign_n 1672._o god_n save_v the_o king_n in_o the_o savoy_n print_v by_o the_o assign_v of_o john_n bill_n and_o christopher_n barker_n printer_n to_o the_o king_n most_o excellent_a majesty_n 1672._o
