they_o most_o desire_v it_o therefore_o you_o ought_v to_o obey_v this_o exhortation_n glorify_v reas._n 5._o this_o will_v be_v a_o fit_a and_o proper_a mean_n for_o the_o conversion_n of_o unbeliever_n and_o for_o their_o give_a glory_n to_o god_n when_o it_o shall_v please_v he_o by_o his_o grace_n to_o visit_v they_o and_o to_o draw_v they_o to_o believe_v in_o christ_n therefore_o you_o ought_v to_o obey_v the_o exhortation_n vers._n 13._o submit_v yourselves_o to_o every_o ordinance_n of_o man_n for_o the_o lord_n sake_n whether_o it_o be_v to_o the_o king_n as_o supreme_a the_o three_o exhortation_n draw_v especial_o from_o the_o former_a be_v of_o obedience_n to_o the_o magistrate_n which_o he_o call_v a_o humane_a ordinance_n because_o although_o all_o power_n in_o general_n be_v the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n yet_o the_o particular_a manner_n of_o government_n rather_o by_o a_o monarchy_n than_o any_o other_o way_n or_o by_o aristocrary_n or_o democracy_n or_o any_o other_o government_n mix_v of_o these_o be_v not_o determine_v by_o god_n but_o it_o be_v leave_v to_o be_v determine_v by_o every_o commonwealth_n which_o when_o it_o be_v determine_v it_o be_v call_v the_o ordinance_n of_o man_n which_o be_v ratify_v by_o god_n or_o his_o ordinance_n for_o although_o in_o ecclesiastical_n and_o spiritual_n christ_n alone_o have_v the_o dominion_n and_o authoritive_a power_n and_o retain_v it_o to_o himself_o nor_o do_v he_o suffer_v any_o dominion_n but_o a_o mere_a ministration_n subordinate_a to_o himself_o in_o his_o spiritual_a kingdom_n yet_o he_o have_v in_o civil_n constitute_v a_o subordinate_a dominion_n and_o call_v man_n god_n although_o not_o absolute_o therefore_o whatsoever_o the_o form_n of_o government_n be_v wherein_o a_o kingdom_n or_o commonwealth_n shall_v agree_v here_o the_o apostle_n command_v the_o believe_a hebrew_n to_o yield_v themselves_o subject_n both_o to_o the_o king_n as_o supreme_a and_o to_o governor_n who_o be_v send_v of_o he_o for_o the_o lord_n sake_n the_o reason_n of_o the_o exhortation_n be_v five_o 1._o the_o lord_n require_v this_o subjection_n viz._n so_o far_o as_o they_o do_v not_o command_v any_o thing_n against_o the_o lord_n for_o god_n have_v give_v the_o power_n of_o rule_v to_o man_n for_o and_o not_o against_o himself_o therefore_o be_v you_o subject_n vers._n 14._o or_o unto_o governor_n as_o unto_o they_o that_o be_v send_v by_o he_o for_o the_o punishment_n of_o evil_a doer_n and_o for_o the_o praise_n of_o they_o that_o do_v well_o for_o reas._n 2._o the_o end_n of_o a_o ordinance_n be_v for_o the_o repress_v of_o the_o wicked_a and_o preserve_v and_o cherish_v the_o good_a therefore_o for_o this_o end_n you_o ought_v to_o be_v subject_a vers._n 15_o for_o so_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n that_o with_o well-doing_n you_o may_v put_v to_o silence_v the_o ignorance_n of_o foolish_a man_n reas._n 3_o god_n will_v by_o subjection_n of_o believer_n give_v to_o magistrate_n silence_n as_o with_o a_o muzzle_n brutish_a man_n who_o unreasonable_o rage_n against_o the_o people_n of_o god_n as_o if_o they_o be_v enemy_n to_o magistrate_n therefore_o be_v you_o subject_n vers._n 16._o as_o free_v and_o not_o use_v your_o liberty_n for_o a_o cloâ—k_n of_o maliciousness_n but_o as_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n reas._n 4._o prevent_v a_o objection_n god_n do_v not_o permit_v any_o man_n to_o use_v christian_a liberty_n for_o a_o cloak_n to_o his_o maliciousness_n or_o rebellion_n as_o if_o christian_a liberty_n exempt_v any_o one_o from_o the_o duty_n 〈◊〉_d civil_a subjection_n but_o be_v free_v from_o sin_n you_o free_o serve_v the_o promote_a of_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n whereof_o the_o magistrate_n be_v a_o minister_n therefore_o you_o ought_v to_o be_v subject_a to_o magistrate_n and_o to_o observe_v civil_a order_n vers._n 17._o honour_n all_o man_n love_v the_o brotherhood_n fear_v god_n honour_n the_o king_n reas._n 5._o these_o four_o christian_a duty_n be_v conjoin_v 1._o to_o despise_v no_o man_n but_o to_o esteem_v all_o according_a to_o the_o station_n wherein_o god_n have_v place_v they_o 2._o intimate_o to_o love_v those_o which_o be_v of_o the_o household_n of_o faith_n 3._o to_o 〈◊〉_d god_n 4._o to_o give_v the_o honour_n and_o obedience_n 〈◊〉_d be_v due_a to_o the_o magistrate_n so_o that_o he_o which_o have_v not_o perform_v the_o latter_a of_o these_o duty_n be_v not_o to_o be_v think_v to_o have_v perform_v the_o other_o sincere_o therefore_o be_v you_o subject_a to_o the_o magistrate_n vers._n 18._o servant_n be_v you_o subject_a to_o your_o master_n with_o all_o fear_n not_o only_o to_o the_o good_a and_o gentle_a but_o also_o to_o the_o froward_a the_o four_o exhortation_n be_v to_o christian_a servant_n that_o they_o not_o only_o reverence_v their_o master_n that_o be_v more_o mild_a and_o courteous_a but_o also_o those_o that_o be_v severe_a and_o froward_a vers._n 19_o for_o this_o be_v thankworthy_a if_o a_o man_n for_o conscience_n towards_o god_n endure_v grief_n suffer_v wrongful_o there_o be_v twelve_o argument_n of_o the_o exhortation_n which_o prove_v that_o servant_n ought_v to_o bear_v the_o wrong_n that_o be_v inflict_v upon_o they_o by_o their_o master_n argum._n 1._o this_o be_v a_o grace_n or_o the_o glorious_a work_n of_o god_n special_a grace_n work_v in_o man_n above_o the_o strength_n of_o nature_n if_o any_o one_o by_o that_o account_n that_o he_o may_v please_v god_n do_v patient_o suffer_v injury_n do_v to_o he_o therefore_o servant_n ought_v to_o suffer_v
