from_o the_o general_a consideration_n of_o a_o future_a judgement_n consider_v that_o there_o will_v a_o time_n come_v when_o thou_o must_v give_v a_o exact_a account_n of_o thy_o life_n and_o action_n and_o it_o shall_v be_v know_v to_o all_o the_o world_n how_o thou_o have_v demean_v thyself_o both_o as_o a_o man_n and_o christian_n dear_a brother_n believe_v thou_o the_o scripture_n i_o know_v thou_o do_v and_o thou_o have_v the_o great_a reason_n in_o the_o world_n to_o do_v so_o observe_v therefore_o what_o they_o tell_v thou_o concern_v that_o account_n which_o thou_o be_v to_o make_v and_o then_o consider_v whether_o there_o be_v no_o reason_n enough_o why_o thou_o shall_v be_v careful_a to_o lead_v a_o virtuous_a and_o holy_a life_n it_o be_v a_o mighty_a encouragement_n to_o proceed_v severe_o with_o we_o and_o to_o show_v no_o favour_n but_o what_o may_v consist_v with_o the_o exact_a justice_n and_o it_o well_o deserve_v our_o observation_n that_o though_o he_o be_v the_o mild_a and_o mercifull_a person_n alive_a and_o express_v the_o great_a tenderness_n and_o love_n to_o sinful_a man_n that_o ever_o be_v insomuch_o that_o his_o enemy_n cast_v it_o as_o a_o reproach_n upon_o he_o that_o he_o be_v a_o friend_n to_o publican_n and_o sinner_n yet_o he_o never_o speak_v of_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n but_o with_o great_a severity_n nor_o of_o himself_o as_o the_o judge_n of_o the_o world_n but_o in_o such_o word_n as_o altogether_o exclude_v that_o fond_a partiality_n which_o wicked_a man_n expect_v from_o he_o at_o that_o day_n thus_o in_o one_o place_n he_o represent_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o austere_a and_o hard_a man_n and_o tell_v we_o that_o he_o expect_v to_o reap_v where_o he_o do_v not_o sow_v and_o to_o gather_v where_o he_o do_v he_o will_v deal_v so_o severe_o and_o therefore_o how_o rigorous_o may_v we_o believe_v he_o will_v deal_v with_o those_o that_o do_v misspend_v his_o talent_n and_o make_v no_o use_n of_o they_o but_o to_o his_o dishonour_n in_o the_o same_o chapter_n likewise_o we_o find_v he_o no_o less_o severe_a to_o five_o foolish_a virgin_n who_o he_o shut_v for_o ever_o out_o of_o heaven_n because_o they_o have_v no_o oil_n with_o their_o lamp_n and_o be_v not_o ready_a exact_o at_o the_o hour_n though_o it_o be_v midnight_n to_o meet_v the_o bridegroom_n v._o 12._o in_o another_o place_n he_o condemn_v to_o everlasting_a misery_n not_o only_o those_o who_o accept_v not_o his_o invitation_n to_o his_o marriage-feast_n but_o those_o likewise_o that_o come_v to_o it_o without_o wedding_n garment_n math._n 22._o v._n 12_o 13._o and_o in_o the_o seven_o chapter_n of_o the_o same_o gospel_n he_o declare_v that_o this_o shall_v be_v the_o portion_n of_o all_o the_o worker_n of_o judge_v our_o work_n nay_o our_o very_a word_n also_o and_o require_v a_o account_n not_o only_o of_o our_o filthy_a and_o ungodly_a speech_n but_o of_o our_o idle_a our_o vain_a and_o unprofitable_a discourse_n likewise_o
what_o shall_v they_o receive_v think_v thou_o when_o their_o trial_n be_v end_v and_o they_o be_v full_o approve_v if_o such_o great_a thing_n be_v do_v for_o their_o encouragement_n in_o his_o service_n what_o great_a thing_n be_v design_v may_v we_o believe_v for_o their_o reward_n especial_o consider_v 2._o that_o the_o reward_n which_o god_n intend_v for_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v proportion_v to_o the_o little_a merit_n of_o their_o service_n but_o to_o his_o own_o infinite_a goodness_n it_o shall_v not_o be_v such_o as_o the_o service_n do_v deserve_v but_o such_o as_o great_a then_o and_o how_o good_a will_v that_o reward_n be_v which_o the_o king_n of_o king_n the_o supreme_a ruler_n and_o governor_n of_o the_o world_n will_v give_v to_o his_o faithful_a servant_n how_o little_o less_o than_o infinite_a must_v that_o be_v which_o will_v become_v so_o glorious_a a_o majesty_n to_o bestow_v especial_o since_o he_o design_n to_o manifest_v his_o goodness_n and_o reward_v his_o faithful_a servant_n what_o a_o glorious_a place_n will_v he_o make_v for_o they_o what_o riches_n and_o honour_n will_v he_o confer_v upon_o they_o will_v they_o not_o be_v as_o great_a as_o his_o infinite_a goodness_n can_v bestow_v or_o as_o his_o infinite_a wisdom_n can_v judge_v to_o be_v become_v it_o and_o how_o incomparable_o great_a must_v we_o needs_o judge_v those_o to_o be_v and_o yet_o we_o may_v consider_v further_o 4._o that_o this_o reward_n design_v for_o god_n servant_n be_v that_o which_o christ_n have_v receive_v from_o his_o father_n to_o give_v they_o for_o all_o his_o pain_n and_o tear_n and_o sweat_n and_o blood_n that_o it_o be_v the_o purchase_n of_o the_o blood_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o the_o recompense_n of_o his_o obedience_n to_o the_o death_n now_o how_o great_a a_o reward_n must_v so_o belove_v a_o son_n deserve_v by_o so_o great_a and_o perfect_a and_o obedience_n can_v any_o thing_n how_o excellent_a soever_o be_v think_v too_o good_a for_o he_o or_o too_o great_a a_o recompense_n for_o his_o suffering_n if_o consider_v our_o own_o poor_a service_n we_o can_v not_o hope_v for_o such_o manifestation_n of_o god_n goodness_n as_o i_o have_v speak_v of_o yet_o consider_v the_o merit_n of_o christ_n we_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o doubt_v of_o they_o for_o if_o infinite_a goodnese_n can_v admit_v of_o any_o motive_n to_o show_v itself_o to_o the_o utmost_a this_o must_v needs_o be_v the_o great_a and_o most_o prevail_a and_o yet_o further_o to_o raise_v our_o thought_n one_o degree_n high_o we_o may_v consider_v sect_n 2._o contain_v a_o prosecution_n of_o the_o same_o argument_n that_o this_o reward_n of_o good_a man_n must_v be_v very_o great_a because_o 5._o it_o be_v not_o only_o the_o reward_n christ_n purchase_v for_o his_o disciple_n but_o that_o also_o which_o he_o obtain_v for_o himself_o as_o the_o recompense_n of_o his_o obedience_n and_o suffering_n with_o a_o more_o particular_a explication_n wherein_o this_o happiness_n consist_v a_o serious_a expostulation_n with_o those_o who_o slight_a it_o and_o the_o necessity_n of_o holiness_n for_o the_o obtain_n of_o it_o 5._o this_o reward_n be_v not_o only_o as_o the_o reward_n which_o christ_n obtain_v for_o his_o servant_n but_o as_o the_o reward_n which_o he_o obtain_v for_o himself_o as_o the_o very_a recompense_n which_o disposition_n and_o the_o participation_n of_o the_o divine_a nature_n or_o be_v ever_o so_o unmeet_a for_o it_o by_o brutish_a lust_n or_o devilish_a quality_n and_o disposition_n there_o be_v a_o vast_a difference_n dear_a brother_n between_o heaven_n and_o hell_n no_o less_o than_o there_o be_v between_o light_n and_o darkness_n between_o the_o great_a happiness_n and_o the_o great_a misery_n and_o ought_v not_o there_o to_o be_v a_o vast_a difference_n likewise_o between_o those_o that_o shall_v enjoy_v the_o one_o and_o those_o that_o shall_v fall_v under_o the_o other_o can_v a_o holy_a and_o righteous_a god_n make_v so_o great_a difference_n between_o the_o eternal_a estate_n of_o man_n as_o to_o make_v some_o eternal_o happy_a and_o other_o eternal_o miserable_a who_o differ_v it_o that_o deserve_v our_o regard_n in_o the_o verse_n before_o we_o find_v our_o bless_a saviour_n displease_v with_o his_o disciple_n for_o forbid_v little_a child_n to_o be_v bring_v unto_o he_o and_o say_v to_o they_o suffer_v little_a child_n to_o come_v unto_o i_o and_o forbid_v they_o not_o for_o of_o such_o be_v the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n that_o be_v their_o innocency_n and_o one_o cause_n of_o their_o wonder_n as_o well_o as_o the_o word_n of_o their_o master_n upon_o this_o accident_n for_o though_o his_o first_o word_n how_o hardly_o shall_v those_o that_o have_v riches_n enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n may_v have_v astonish_v they_o another_o time_n yet_o his_o second_o word_n how_o hard_o be_v it_o for_o they_o that_o trust_v in_o riches_n to_o enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n will_v have_v remove_v their_o astonishment_n it_o be_v easy_a for_o they_o to_o apprehend_v that_o those_o that_o trust_v in_o riches_n will_v not_o trust_v in_o god_n and_o therefore_o shall_v not_o be_v save_v by_o he_o but_o they_o be_v astonish_v to_o see_v a_o man_n that_o mean_v so_o well_o and_o be_v come_v so_o near_o to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n overthrow_v by_o his_o great_a possession_n and_o since_o riches_n have_v so_o great_a a_o power_n over_o he_o and_o can_v turn_v he_o back_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n they_o believe_v they_o will_v turn_v all_o the_o rich_a man_n in_o the_o world_n from_o it_o if_o he_o after_o have_v keep_v the_o commandment_n from_o his_o youth_n up_o do_v trust_v in_o his_o riches_n no_o rich_a
