take_v it_o to_o the_o preservation_n of_o the_o king_n person_n and_o authority_n this_o they_o say_v be_v not_o to_o be_v understand_v absolute_o but_o in_o a_o way_n subordinate_a to_o religion_n and_o the_o public_a interest_n which_o be_v the_o principal_a and_o supreme_a matter_n engage_v for_o by_o covenant_n as_o appear_v by_o that_o clause_n viz._n in_o the_o preservation_n of_o the_o true_a religion_n and_o liberty_n of_o the_o kingdom_n it_o have_v be_v always_o fear_v that_o some_o such_o use_n will_v be_v make_v one_o time_n or_o other_o of_o that_o clause_n of_o the_o covenant_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v that_o many_o learned_a and_o pious_a man_n refuse_v the_o take_n of_o it_o witness_v those_o incomparable_a reason_n of_o the_o university_n of_o oxford_n against_o it_o among_o which_o this_o be_v one_o that_o they_o know_v not_o what_o construction_n may_v be_v put_v upon_o that_o large_a clause_n to_o the_o prejudice_n of_o his_o majesty_n royal_a person_n and_o authority_n but_o though_o they_o endeavour_v to_o make_v a_o nose_n of_o wax_n of_o it_o and_o turn_v it_o any_o way_n by_o interpretation_n most_o suitable_a to_o their_o antimonarchicall_a principle_n and_o design_n yet_o they_o can_v found_v any_o pretence_n thereupon_o to_o subvert_v the_o law_n of_o the_o land_n and_o fundamental_a constitution_n of_o the_o kingdom_n the_o covenant_n oblige_v in_o
