astonish_v at_o his_o doctrine_n verse_n 29._o for_o he_o teach_v they_o as_o one_o have_v authority_n and_o not_o as_o the_o scribe_n and_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v etc._n etc._n 1_o we_o must_v stay_v to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o sermon_n else_o we_o shall_v go_v away_o without_o a_o blessing_n else_o it_o show_v some_o dislike_n of_o the_o sermon_n for_o their_o be_v astonish_v make_v the_o stay_n 2._o one_o may_v be_v astonish_v at_o a_o sermon_n by_o which_o he_o be_v not_o convert_v 3._o one_o that_o be_v a_o true_a minister_n have_v authority_n over_o his_o hearer_n let_v their_o person_n be_v never_o so_o mean_a in_o respect_n of_o their_o office_n they_o be_v above_o they_o 4._o a_o minister_n ought_v to_o keep_v up_o his_o authority_n and_o not_o to_o be_v despise_v by_o his_o people_n 1_o tim._n 4.12_o tit._n 2.15_o 5._o the_o question_n may_v be_v why_o the_o evangelist_n take_v such_o special_a notice_n that_o the_o people_n be_v astonish_v because_o he_o speak_v as_o one_o have_v authority_n and_o seem_v to_o pass_v by_o the_o matter_n of_o our_o saviour_n sermon_n and_o take_v notice_n of_o the_o manner_n of_o deliver_v of_o it_o one_o will_v think_v rather_o that_o the_o evangelist_n and_o the_o people_n shall_v have_v take_v notice_n of_o the_o heavenlinesse_n of_o his_o doctrine_n rather_o than_o the_o authority_n with_o which_o he_o deliver_v it_o the_o reason_n may_v be_v first_o it_o be_v say_v in_o respect_n of_o christ_n to_o show_v the_o difference_n betwixt_o his_o preach_n and_o all_o other_o for_o whether_o they_o be_v prophet_n scribe_n or_o any_o other_o they_o preach_v not_o so_o authoritative_o as_o christ_n do_v for_o the_o prophet_n say_v thus_o say_v the_o lord_n the_o scribe_n thus_o say_v such_o a_o rabbi_n etc._n etc._n they_o prove_v what_o they_o say_v by_o the_o testimony_n of_o other_o but_o christ_n upon_o his_o own_o authority_n i_o say_v unto_o you_o and_o this_o be_v that_o wherein_o our_o saviour_n excel_v all_o other_o preacher_n for_o the_o substance_n and_o matter_n of_o his_o doctrine_n it_o be_v wonderful_a heavenly_a yet_o for_o the_o substance_n of_o it_o it_o have_v be_v former_o preach_v but_o no_o one_o ever_o preach_v upon_o their_o own_o authority_n before_o his_o doctrine_n differ_v from_o the_o prophet_n and_o all_o other_o teach_n in_o heavenlinesse_n and_o clearness_n but_o that_o be_v only_o in_o degree_n but_o in_o respect_n of_o his_o authoritative_a preach_v it_o differ_v but_o in_o kind_n 2._o in_o respect_n of_o the_o people_n the_o meaning_n may_v be_v thus_o that_o the_o sermon_n of_o christ_n come_v with_o such_o authority_n and_o power_n upon_o their_o spirit_n that_o they_o be_v full_o convince_v of_o the_o truth_n of_o those_o thing_n he_o preach_v which_o conviction_n in_o any_o proportionable_a measure_n they_o never_o have_v experience_n before_o of_o as_o often_o as_o they_o have_v hear_v the_o scribe_n preach_v 3._o or_o may_v it_o not_o be_v to_o show_v that_o though_o they_o be_v astonish_v yet_o it_o be_v not_o upon_o right_a ground_n for_o whosoever_o be_v take_v with_o the_o eloquence_n pronunciation_n or_o any_o thing_n else_o in_o a_o sermon_n beside_o the_o holiness_n of_o the_o matter_n that_o be_v deliver_v though_o their_o delight_n be_v spiritual_a in_o respect_n of_o the_o object_n for_o it_o be_v the_o word_n preach_v that_o delight_n they_o yet_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o formality_n of_o their_o delight_n viz._n the_o ground_n why_o they_o be_v delight_v in_o the_o word_n preach_v be_v carnal_a and_o if_o you_o take_v the_o word_n so_o than_o this_o reason_n of_o their_o astonishment_n be_v set_v down_o that_o we_o may_v understand_v that_o this_o our_o saviour_n sermon_n do_v astonish_v they_o yet_o it_o do_v not_o convert_v they_o finis_fw-la
