be_v confirm_v in_o the_o belief_n of_o nothing_o but_o this_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d that_o he_o be_v the_o messiah_n the_o same_o reason_n he_o give_v john_n xiii_o 28._o you_o have_v hear_v how_o i_o say_v unto_o you_o i_o go_v away_o and_o come_v again_o unto_o you_o and_o now_o i_o have_v tell_v you_o before_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o when_o it_o be_v come_v to_o pass_v you_o only_o those_o who_o have_v believe_v jesus_n to_o be_v the_o messiah_n and_o have_v take_v he_o to_o be_v their_o king_n with_o a_o sincere_a endeavour_n after_o righteousness_n in_o obey_v his_o messiah_n take_v he_o for_o their_o king_n and_o become_v his_o subject_n but_o whether_o christ_n do_v not_o require_v obedience_n sincere_a obedience_n be_v evident_a from_o the_o law_n he_o worship_n with_o foolish_a rite_n as_o they_o please_v and_o what_o dread_a or_o craft_n once_o begin_v devotion_n soon_o make_v sacred_a and_o religion_n immutable_a in_o this_o state_n of_o darkness_n and_o ignorance_n of_o the_o true_a god_n vice_n and_o superstition_n hold_v the_o world_n nor_o can_v any_o help_n be_v have_v or_o hope_v for_o from_o reason_n which_o can_v not_o be_v hear_v and_o be_v judge_v to_o have_v nothing_o to_o do_v in_o the_o case_n the_o priest_n every_o where_o to_o secure_v their_o empire_n have_v exclude_v reason_n from_o have_v any_o thing_n to_o do_v in_o religion_n and_o in_o the_o crowd_n of_o wrong_a notion_n and_o invent_v rite_n the_o world_n have_v almost_o lose_v the_o sight_n of_o the_o one_o only_o true_a god_n the_o rational_a and_o think_v part_n of_o mankind_n it_o be_v true_a when_o they_o seek_v after_o he_o find_v the_o one_o supreme_a invisible_a god_n but_o if_o they_o acknowledge_v and_o worship_v he_o it_o be_v only_o in_o their_o own_o mind_n they_o keep_v this_o truth_n lock_v up_o in_o their_o own_o breast_n as_o a_o secret_a nor_o ever_o dare_v venture_v it_o among_o the_o people_n much_o less_o among_o the_o priest_n those_o wary_a guardian_n of_o their_o own_o creed_n and_o profitable_a invention_n hence_o we_o see_v that_o reason_n speak_v never_o so_o clear_o to_o the_o wise_a and_o virtuous_a have_v never_o authority_n enough_o to_o prevail_v on_o the_o multitude_n and_o to_o persuade_v the_o society_n of_o man_n that_o there_o be_v but_o one_o god_n that_o alone_o be_v to_o be_v own_v and_o worship_v the_o belief_n and_o worship_n of_o one_o god_n be_v the_o national_a religion_n of_o the_o israelite_n alone_o and_o if_o we_o will_v consider_v it_o it_o be_v introduce_v and_o support_v among_o that_o people_n by_o revelation_n they_o be_v in_o goshen_n and_o have_v light_a whilst_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o world_n be_v in_o almost_o egyptian_a darkness_n without_o god_n in_o the_o world_n there_o be_v no_o part_n of_o mankind_n who_o have_v quick_a part_n or_o improve_v they_o more_o that_o have_v a_o great_a light_n of_o reason_n or_o follow_v it_o far_o in_o all_o sort_n of_o speculation_n than_o the_o athenian_n and_o yet_o we_o find_v but_o one_o socrates_n among_o they_o that_o oppose_v and_o laugh_v at_o their_o polytheism_n and_o wrong_a opinion_n of_o the_o deity_n
