in_o his_o warfare_n must_v not_o be_v entangle_v in_o the_o affair_n of_o this_o life_n otherwise_o he_o will_v not_o be_v able_a to_o please_v he_o who_o have_v choose_v he_o to_o be_v a_o soldier_n 2_o tim._n 2._o 4._o now_o all_o the_o affair_n of_o state_n concern_v only_o this_o life_n and_o nothing_o else_o direct_o and_o principal_o four_o the_o intermeddle_v with_o state-matter_n in_o wisdom_n of_o earthly_a man_n or_o our_o own_o imagination_n or_o passion_n dictate_v we_o profane_v the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n and_o destroy_v the_o faith_n of_o the_o hearer_n what_o be_v the_o chaff_n to_o the_o wheat_n say_v the_o lord_n by_o the_o prophet_n jeremiah_n our_o own_o word_n and_o dream_n about_o temporal_a concernment_n be_v less_o worth_a than_o chaff_n and_o the_o faith_n of_o professor_n can_v stand_v in_o the_o wisdom_n of_o man_n but_o in_o the_o power_n of_o god._n and_o because_o jesus_n christ_n be_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n and_o the_o power_n of_o god_n therefore_o in_o our_o preach_n we_o shall_v determine_v to_o know_v nothing_o among_o our_o hearer_n but_o jesus_n christ_n and_o he_o crucify_v the_o aim_n to_o be_v maintain_v in_o preach_v be_v to_o persuade_v god_n only_o and_o not_o man_n and_o not_o to_o please_v man_n or_o become_v their_o servant_n but_o god_n alone_a gal._n 1._o 10._o for_o he_o that_o intend_v to_o please_v man_n be_v no_o more_o the_o servant_n of_o christ._n now_o when_o man_n set_v themselves_o to_o speak_v of_o state-matter_n in_o the_o pulpit_n their_o aim_n be_v either_o to_o please_v the_o magistrate_n by_o commend_v they_o to_o the_o people_n or_o to_o show_v their_o dislike_n against_o their_o proceed_n by_o reprove_v the_o same_o which_o do_v tend_v to_o make_v the_o people_n displease_v with_o their_o magistrate_n now_o whether_o the_o design_n be_v the_o one_o or_o the_o other_o it_o be_v altogether_o unworthy_a of_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o a_o man_n can_v possible_o mention_v the_o affair_n of_o state_n in_o public_a but_o it_o must_v be_v either_o way_n and_o therefore_o he_o ought_v neither_o way_n to_o do_v it_o and_o whatsoever_o a_o man_n aim_n may_v be_v in_o meddle_v thus_o with_o state_n matter_n as_o he_o do_v no_o service_n to_o god_n in_o it_o so_o he_o pervert_v the_o mind_n of_o the_o hearer_n from_o the_o integrity_n and_o simplicity_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o reflect_v upon_o and_o affect_v with_o reference_n to_o worldly_a wisdom_n the_o way_n of_o a_o party_n for_o all_o state-matter_n be_v continual_o carry_v by_o some_o plot_n in_o the_o hand_n of_o one_o party_n or_o other_o and_o whosoever_o do_v meddle_v with_o they_o either_o to_o commend_v or_o discommend_v the_o proceed_n must_v be_v the_o servant_n of_o a_o party_n and_o so_o forsake_v the_o spiritual_a liberty_n and_o unpartiality_n wherein_o he_o ought_v to_o stand_v and_o whereunto_o he_o ought_v to_o bring_v the_o mind_n of_o his_o hearer_n that_o they_o may_v be_v willing_a to_o serve_v all_o man_n in_o love_n for_o their_o spiritual_a edification_n without_o prejudice_n for_o christ_n sake_n the_o interest_n of_o statesman_n and_o matter_n change_v with_o these_o matter_n he_o will_v be_v constrain_v either_o to_o say_v and_o un-say_a the_o same_o thing_n if_o he_o follow_v state_n principles_n which_o be_v to_o discredit_v the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n for_o when_o man_n be_v sway_v with_o carnal_a consideration_n they_o must_v needs_o make_v the_o same_o thing_n in_o their_o preach_v yea_o yea_o and_o nay_o nay_o as_o we_o have_v find_v many_o do_v of_o late_a or_o if_o he_o will_v be_v inflexible_a and_o not_o change_v his_o note_n with_o the_o time_n he_o will_v be_v engage_v into_o occasion_n of_o strife_n and_o controversy_n with_o other_o for_o worldly_a matter_n as_o oft_o as_o they_o change_v which_o how_o inconvenient_a it_o be_v for_o a_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o do_v and_o how_o prejudicial_a it_o be_v unto_o his_o profession_n i_o leave_v you_o to_o judge_v the_o scandal_n which_o be_v give_v against_o the_o gospel_n to_o those_o that_o be_v discern_v and_o perceive_v man_n statesman_n take_v advantage_n to_o lay_v snare_n before_o unwary_a minister_n who_o have_v more_o zeal_n than_o prudence_n to_o entrap_v they_o and_o make_v use_n of_o they_o for_o their_o own_o end_n and_o then_o when_o they_o have_v make_v they_o their_o hackney_n and_o serve_v their_o turn_n with_o they_o they_o turn_v they_o away_o with_o neglect_n and_o contempt_n at_o the_o journey_n end_n because_o they_o deserve_v no_o better_o now_o i_o know_v these_o thing_n to_o be_v the_o natural_a consequent_n of_o minister_n intermeddle_v with_o state-matter_n can_v think_v it_o lawful_a
