man_n devour_v it_o thus_o than_o we_o may_v see_v that_o beneficence_n by_o wisdom_n may_v be_v practise_v not_o only_o without_o utter_a impoverishment_n but_o also_o to_o the_o further_o enrich_v &_o to_o the_o most_o singular_a benefit_n &_o blessing_n of_o the_o wise_a and_o discreet_a practiser_n of_o it_o according_a to_o that_o which_o follow_v in_o the_o very_a next_o proverb_n he_o that_o follow_v after_o righteousness_n and_o mercy_n shall_v find_v life_n righteousness_n and_o glory_n wisdom_n therefore_o moderate_v beneficence_n and_o beneficence_n inrich_v the_o wise_a so_o that_o through_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n they_o continue_v in_o benefit_v other_o prove_v most_o beneficial_a to_o themselves_o in_o the_o end_n now_o that_o it_o be_v the_o special_a grace_n and_o commendation_n of_o beneficence_n that_o it_o shall_v be_v so_o considerate_o dispose_v that_o every_o man_n beneficence_n shall_v not_o end_v in_o one_o or_o a_o few_o benefit_n not_o only_o the_o godly_a wise_a but_o even_o the_o heathen_a wise_a man_n have_v observe_v and_o to_o this_o end_n they_o prescribe_v many_o good_a caution_n for_o the_o guide_n and_o direct_v of_o liberality_n lest_o any_o man_n be_v able_a to_o perform_v be_v do_v for_o ostentation_n and_o vain_a glory_n final_o that_o in_o the_o practice_n of_o liberality_n every_o one_o to_o who_o relief_n it_o be_v dispose_v be_v respect_v according_a as_o he_o be_v more_o or_o less_o worthy_a for_o virtue_n or_o in_o great_a or_o lesser_a need_n through_o the_o present_a exigence_n as_o one_o may_v say_v of_o his_o misery_n etc._n etc._n these_o and_o such_o like_a be_v the_o wise_a caution_n which_o even_o heathen_a man_n have_v see_v meet_a to_o be_v observe_v for_o the_o well_o order_v of_o liberality_n and_o beneficence_n they_o all_o hold_v that_o unaduised_a beneficence_n be_v very_o discommendable_a and_o that_o even_o great_a gift_n so_o bestow_v be_v of_o less_o worth_n and_o reckon_v then_o small_a benefit_n wise_o dispose_v the_o same_o caution_n and_o direction_n which_o the_o only_a perfect_o wise_a and_o sacred_a word_n of_o god_n do_v most_o wise_o and_o perfect_o teach_v will_v to_o god_n all_o christian_n will_v be_v careful_a to_o learn_v and_o practice_v better_o than_o ever_o the_o heathen_a do_v which_o very_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n they_o shall_v easy_o do_v or_o at_o the_o least_o not_o more_o unwise_o to_o the_o shame_n of_o christianity_n if_o they_o will_v hearken_v to_o the_o instruction_n of_o his_o word_n then_o shall_v not_o the_o foolish_a heart_n of_o so_o many_o of_o we_o be_v as_o close_o draw_v together_o and_o fast_o lock_v up_o as_o be_v the_o string_n of_o our_o purse_n and_o the_o lid_n of_o our_o box_n and_o hutche_n when_o we_o shall_v do_v any_o good_a therein_o prefer_v earthly_a riches_n which_o be_v corruptible_a and_o transitory_a before_o the_o heavenly_a and_o eternal_a treasure_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n so_o set_v great_a store_n by_o worldly_a friend_n then_o regard_v by_o the_o well_o bestow_v of_o our_o riches_n to_o prepare_v ourselves_o friend_n against_o that_o great_a day_n of_o account_n which_o god_n will_v one_o day_n call_v we_o unto_o aspire_v and_o hunt_v more_o after_o the_o vain_a glory_n and_o pleasure_n of_o this_o life_n then_o after_o the_o spiritual_a joy_n and_o incorruptible_a crown_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n then_o shall_v not_o so_o many_o be_v so_o overwise_a as_o to_o neglect_v all_o practice_n of_o beneficence_n lest_o they_o shall_v as_o they_o pretend_v bestow_v it_o amiss_o sometime_o as_o though_o it_o be_v not_o better_o that_o alm_n shall_v be_v sometime_o lose_v and_o perish_v than_o any_o creature_n shall_v at_o any_o time_n be_v lose_v for_o want_n of_o alm_n and_o as_o though_o it_o be_v say_v in_o vain_a that_o some_o at_o unaware_o have_v receive_v angel_n into_o their_o house_n when_o as_o they_o do_v think_v they_o to_o be_v but_o mortal_a man_n then_o shall_v not_o so_o many_o bestow_v that_o which_o they_o account_v their_o liberality_n yea_o their_o great_a and_o most_o religious_a bounty_n so_o corrupt_o and_o profane_o as_o they_o use_v to_o do_v in_o set_v open_a their_o house_n to_o dice_v and_o carde-play_a to_o mask_v and_o mum_n in_o christmas_n and_o to_o other_o lewd_a practice_n at_o other_o special_a time_n of_o the_o year_n which_o they_o account_v their_o good_a housekeep_n then_o shall_v not_o the_o usual_a liberality_n of_o a_o number_n be_v spill_v as_o it_o be_v water_n upon_o the_o barren_a and_o unpofitable_a ground_n as_o heretofore_o it_o have_v be_v upon_o roguish_a vagabonde_n and_o idle_a person_n which_o nothing_o at_o all_o mind_a any_o honest_a course_n of_o life_n in_o obedience_n either_o to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n or_o of_o the_o land_n wherein_o they_o live_v yea_o which_o be_v a_o thousand_o time_n worse_o then_o shall_v it_o not_o be_v in_o any_o wise_a employ_v of_o any_o to_o the_o maintenance_n of_o abominable_a idolatry_n and_o superstition_n and_o of_o such_o as_o be_v the_o wicked_a instrument_n and_o minister_n thereof_o damnable_a jesuitical_a and_o seminary_n priest_n etc._n etc._n for_o all_o such_o beneficence_n false_o so_o call_v be_v no_o true_a liberality_n but_o clean_o contrary_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o this_o most_o noble_a and_o freeborn_a virtue_n which_o impli_v only_o that_o kind_n of_o bestow_v of_o our_o good_n which_o best_o beseem_v a_o liberal_a and_o free_a mind_n indeed_o that_o be_v such_o a_o mind_n as_o be_v make_v free_a by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n from_o all_o servile_a furtherance_n of_o sin_n or_o sinner_n in_o any_o evil_a way_n and_o to_o all_o willing_a prefer_n and_o advaunce_v only_o of_o true_a godliness_n and_o religion_n by_o all_o the_o good_a and_o holy_a mean_n that_o it_o can_v final_o if_o true_a wisdom_n and_o discretion_n may_v always_o hold_v the_o stern_a of_o christian_a beneficence_n and_o liberality_n yea_o even_o there_o where_o there_o be_v a_o honest_a and_o good_a mind_n than_o not_o so_o many_a yea_o rather_o none_o at_o all_o shall_v so_o soon_o sink_v themselves_o and_o grow_v utter_o unable_a in_o short_a time_n to_o hold_v out_o in_o that_o course_n which_o first_o they_o begin_v with_o too_o full_a and_o broad_a a_o sail_n though_o the_o truth_n be_v much_o few_o have_v need_n of_o a_o bridle_n to_o curb_v and_o hold_v they_o in_o than_o the_o rest_n stand_v in_o need_n of_o the_o sharp_a spur_n to_o put_v they_o into_o that_o quick_a pace_n which_o easy_o they_o may_v be_v able_a without_o any_o tire_a to_o continue_v and_o abide_v in_o according_a to_o that_o say_n of_o the_o holy_a prophet_n the_o liberal_a man_n will_v devise_v of_o liberal_a thing_n and_o he_o will_v continue_v his_o liberality_n isai_n 32.8_o and_o thus_o we_o may_v perceive_v in_o a_o good_a part_n what_o wisdom_n be_v requisite_a to_o the_o discreet_a order_n and_o dispose_n of_o every_o man_n yea_o even_o of_o his_o own_o private_a beneficence_n and_o therefore_o we_o be_v the_o less_o to_o marvel_n though_o the_o lord_n require_v special_a wisdom_n to_o the_o bestow_n of_o the_o public_a beneficence_n and_o alm_n of_o the_o church_n which_o arise_v of_o the_o particular_a contribution_n of_o many_o into_o one_o sum_n according_a to_o that_o which_o we_o read_v in_o the_o six_o chap._n of_o the_o act_n of_o the_o holy_a apostle_n concern_v those_o deacon_n who_o be_v by_o the_o consent_n of_o all_o the_o apostle_n to_o have_v this_o charge_n wherefore_o say_v they_o guide_v herein_o by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o that_o by_o occasion_n of_o some_o former_a fail_n in_o this_o behalf_n brethren_n look_v you_o out_o among_o you_o seven_o but_o a_o right_a christian_n godly_a and_o comfortable_a life_n marry_o thy_o daughter_n say_v a_o wise_a man_n and_o so_o shall_v thou_o perform_v a_o weighty_a matter_n but_o give_v thou_o she_o find_v to_o stand_v in_o need_n objection_n 2._o let_v a_o man_n give_v they_o never_o so_o much_o they_o will_v be_v never_o the_o better_a for_o it_o all_o shall_v go_v through_o their_o throat_n etc._n etc._n answer_n such_o as_o be_v well_o and_o thriftilie_o mind_a will_v be_v the_o better_a as_o for_o the_o rest_n if_o they_o will_v be_v nothing_o the_o better_a yea_o though_o they_o shall_v be_v the_o worse_o it_o may_v suffice_v thou_o until_o thou_o do_v perceive_v it_o to_o be_v so_o in_o deed_n that_o thou_o give_v with_o a_o mind_n to_o do_v they_o as_o much_o good_a as_o thou_o may_v their_o evil_n can_v no_o whit_n diminish_v thy_o goodness_n but_o if_o thou_o upon_o experience_n perceive_v any_o to_o be_v the_o worse_o as_o not_o know_v how_o to_o take_v the_o right_a benefit_n of_o relief_n thou_o may_v well_o make_v a_o better_a choice_n and_o so_o cast_v the_o seed_n as_o it_o be_v into_o a_o better_a soil_n objection_n 3._o they_o be_v very_o unthankful_a they_o will_v not_o give_v a_o man_n a_o good_a word_n for_o all_o that_o be_v do_v for_o they_o answer_n all_o be_v not_o so_o and_o though_o some_o be_v unthankful_a yet_o god_n will_v be_v nevertheless_o gracious_a &_o merciful_a to_o thou_o again_o if_o thou_o shall_v seek_v after_o the_o thanks_o and_o praise_n of_o man_n what_o a_o vain_a thing_n be_v this_o for_o so_o shall_v
