thing_n greedy_a of_o duty_n that_o be_v pay_v to_o priest_n and_o the_o church_n of_o old_a yea_o of_o very_a penny_n or_o half_a penny_n give_v of_o devotion_n of_o old_a for_o maintenance_n of_o church_n light_n holy_a water_n and_o holy_a bread_n and_o the_o like_a now_o employ_v to_o feed_v their_o brat_n with_o or_o to_o light_v themselves_o or_o their_o wife_n to_o bed_n who_o if_o they_o be_v greedy_a of_o that_o which_o be_v nothing_o their_o due_a yea_o be_v the_o most_o beggarlye_o covetous_a wretch_n in_o england_n of_o all_o man_n then_o let_v they_o not_o complain_v of_o the_o pope_n covetuousnes_n for_o pardon_n no_o nor_o of_o any_o thing_n which_o be_v give_v to_o priest_n or_o the_o church_n which_o in_o deed_n be_v due_a as_o peter_n penny_n and_o the_o like_a chap._n xlix_o exhort_v all_o to_o do_v their_o penance_n meek_o here_o and_o not_o to_o trust_v to_o much_o to_o the_o help_n &_o prayer_n of_o their_o friend_n leave_v behind_o but_o thus_o by_o the_o way_n digress_v from_o my_o purpose_n in_o speak_v of_o purgatory_n and_o prayer_n for_o the_o dead_a before_o i_o touch_v certain_a place_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o authority_n of_o the_o church_n and_o father_n that_o make_v for_o this_o purpose_n and_o how_o fast_v prayer_n pardon_n but_o especial_o the_o holy_a sacrifice_n of_o the_o mass_n be_v the_o most_o sovereign_a remedy_n for_o the_o faithful_a depart_v but_o as_o i_o exhort_v all_o to_o pray_v for_o the_o depart_v and_o forget_v they_o not_o consider_v they_o can_v help_v themselves_o though_o divine_n hold_v that_o the_o more_o charitable_a we_o be_v to_o help_v the_o depart_v by_o so_o much_o the_o prayer_n of_o our_o friend_n shall_v help_v we_o after_o our_o death_n so_o will_v i_o wish_v all_o not_o to_o much_o to_o trust_v other_o which_o oftentimes_o be_v forgetful_a of_o their_o friend_n depart_v enjoy_v they_o never_o so_o many_o of_o their_o posession_n and_o good_n but_o let_v each_o one_o do_v well_o yea_o the_o best_a he_o can_v for_o himself_o and_o perform_v his_o penance_n meek_o while_o he_o be_v here_o that_o he_o may_v have_v a_o pure_a and_o perfect_a soul_n for_o happelye_v even_o in_o those_o that_o be_v careful_a of_o their_o salvation_n some_o dross_n of_o sin_n imperfection_n or_o corruption_n may_v be_v find_v to_o stay_v they_o in_o that_o fire_n of_o god_n justice_n and_o there_o many_o a_o light_a thought_n many_o a_o vain_a word_n many_o a_o headstrong_a passion_n and_o unmortify_v affection_n which_o we_o little_o regard_v and_o light_o pass_v over_o in_o ourselves_o without_o correction_n shall_v be_v find_v stiff_a matter_n for_o god_n justice_n to_o work_v on_o in_o that_o cleanse_a fire_n where_o nil_fw-la inultum_fw-la remanebit_fw-la no_o sin_n shall_v be_v leave_v unpunished_a the_o sharpness_n and_o severity_n whereof_o in_o that_o it_o be_v inflict_v by_o god_n judgement_n for_o sin_n who_o be_v it_o if_o he_o deeplye_n consider_v but_o he_o may_v easy_o perceive_v the_o greatness_n of_o which_o pain_n be_v such_o and_o so_o subtle_a that_o god_n can_v lay_v such_o punishment_n on_o the_o soul_n in_o one_o hour_n that_o it_o may_v seem_v and_o serve_v for_o a_o thousand_o year_n whereby_o you_o see_v that_o those_o that_o at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n shall_v be_v take_v in_o debt_n of_o pain_n due_a to_o sin_n may_v fulfil_v it_o in_o a_o hour_n though_o they_o deserve_v a_o thousand_o year_n so_o great_o can_v god_n almighty_a increase_n the_o punishment_n in_o that_o space_n so_o that_o when_o the_o pope_n grant_v pardon_n for_o many_o thousand_o year_n when_o as_o purgatory_n shall_v remain_v no_o long_o but_o till_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n which_o perhaps_o may_v be_v with_o in_o a_o hundred_o year_n yet_o his_o pardon_n be_v right_o just_a and_o available_a for_o the_o reason_n abovesaid_a but_o as_o i_o say_v i_o exhort_v all_o to_o do_v their_o penance_n here_o &_o leave_v it_o not_o to_o that_o place_n for_o beside_o that_o one_o day_n there_o be_v more_o than_o a_o whole_a year_n here_o and_o yet_o that_o one_o day_n of_o penance_n here_o may_v satisfy_v for_o a_o whole_a year_n there_o yet_o though_o a_o man_n be_v there_o a_o thousand_o year_n he_o shall_v nothing_o merit_v thereby_o but_o only_o satisfy_v for_o sin_n with_o pain_n and_o due_a punishment_n but_o here_o in_o do_v penance_n he_o both_o satisfi_v for_o his_o sin_n escape_v great_a punishment_n &_o increase_v his_o merit_n more_o plentiful_o receive_v here_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o this_o life_n and_o
