publish_v and_o spread_v they_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v a_o most_o just_a thing_n with_o god_n that_o when_o they_o come_v they_o shall_v fall_v as_o a_o judgement_n upon_o they_o rather_o than_o any_o this_o be_v that_o they_o will_v have_v and_o therefore_o let_v they_o take_v they_o and_o the_o woe_n of_o they_o drunkard_n swearer_n formal_a professor_n thou_o will_v have_v offence_n arise_v they_o be_v meat_n and_o drink_n to_o thou_o lo_o say_v god_n here_o they_o be_v take_v they_o and_o the_o woe_n of_o they_o for_o it_o be_v thou_o thou_o have_v long_v to_o see_v they_o here_o they_o be_v thou_o shall_v have_v thy_o belly_n full_a of_o they_o in_o the_o end_n reason_n 4._o because_o god_n as_o in_o all_o other_o thing_n so_o also_o in_o the_o very_a rise_n and_o issue_n of_o offence_n will_v put_v a_o manifest_a difference_n betwixt_o his_o own_o child_n and_o the_o man_n of_o the_o world_n offence_n come_v to_o both_o but_o not_o to_o both_o alike_o offence_n to_o the_o godly_a they_o be_v as_o the_o rod_n of_o a_o father_n for_o correction_n to_o the_o world_n as_o the_o rod_n of_o a_o enemy_n for_o destruction_n to_o the_o godly_a they_o bring_v honey_n in_o the_o tail_n of_o they_o to_o the_o world_n a_o poisonous_a deadly_a sting_n a_o manifest_a difference_n to_o the_o one_o they_o be_v seem_v judgement_n but_o real_a mercy_n to_o the_o other_o they_o be_v seem_v approbation_n of_o their_o way_n and_o course_n but_o real_a judgement_n upon_o their_o person_n soul_n and_o body_n for_o ever_o if_o god_n prevent_v not_o 5_o but_o if_o such_o a_o woe_n come_v upon_o the_o world_n by_o offence_n how_o may_v i_o come_v to_o know_v that_o so_o it_o may_v be_v prevent_v when_o the_o world_n be_v just_o offend_v and_o so_o offend_v as_o thereby_o in_o danger_n of_o this_o dreadful_a woe_n answ_n 1._o the_o world_n be_v just_o offend_v when_o professor_n by_o principle_n which_o they_o hold_v or_o maintain_v do_v put_v out_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n for_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n be_v a_o light_n that_o the_o heathen_n have_v rom._n 2._o and_o possible_o a_o mere_a natural_a man_n that_o have_v no_o work_n of_o grace_n upon_o his_o heart_n nor_o savour_n of_o spiritual_a thing_n as_o spiritual_a may_v see_v those_o thing_n that_o this_o light_n direct_v too_o as_o clear_o as_o christian_n for_o though_o wicked_a man_n be_v blind_a in_o spiritual_a thing_n and_o it_o may_v be_v do_v not_o do_v what_o natural_a light_n teach_v yet_o be_v they_o not_o so_o blind_a but_o they_o can_v see_v this_o they_o shall_v do_v now_o when_o professor_n maintain_v principle_n contrary_a to_o this_o light_n the_o world_n who_o have_v the_o light_n and_o see_v by_o it_o and_o so_o far_o as_o they_o see_v you_o must_v give_v they_o leave_v to_o know_v be_v just_o offend_v and_o can_v tell_v they_o to_o their_o tooth_n their_o principle_n be_v a_o lie_n and_o themselves_o a_o company_n of_o liar_n and_o deceiver_n as_o to_o instance_n suppose_v a_o professor_n have_v such_o a_o principle_n that_o there_o be_v no_o god_n but_o only_o that_o god_n that_o be_v within_o him_z a_o wicked_a man_n by_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n will_v tell_v such_o a_o loose_a professor_n such_o a_o atheist_n i_o shall_v say_v that_o his_o principle_n be_v a_o lie_n and_o he_o be_v a_o liar_n for_o when_o he_o behold_v the_o creature_n and_o thing_n that_o be_v make_v the_o light_n of_o nature_n dictate_v to_o he_o that_o he_o can_v never_o make_v it_o and_o that_o therefore_o there_o must_v be_v a_o almighty_a power_n by_o which_o these_o thing_n be_v make_v be_v order_v and_o govern_v etc._n etc._n again_o if_o a_o professor_n maintain_v such_o a_o principle_n that_o there_o be_v no_o need_n of_o prayer_n etc._n etc._n worship_v god_n in_o such_o a_o way_n the_o light_n of_o nature_n will_v tell_v he_o that_o it_o be_v a_o lie_n for_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n teach_v this_o that_o god_n be_v to_o be_v worship_v serve_v call_v upon_o again_o if_o a_o man_n a_o profess_v man_n one_o that_o seem_v to_o hold_v such_o a_o principle_n that_o i_o need_v make_v no_o conscience_n of_o any_o sin_n or_o action_n whatsoever_o i_o may_v be_v drink_v or_o murder_v my_o neighbour_n lie_v with_o his_o wife_n the_o light_n of_o nature_n will_v teach_v such_o a_o one_o that_o this_o principle_n be_v a_o damnable_a lie_n and_o he_o be_v a_o liar_n for_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n discover_v these_o horrid_a work_n of_o darkness_n and_o abominate_v these_o now_o when_o man_n by_o their_o principle_n extinguish_v and_o blot_v out_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n then_o be_v the_o world_n just_o offend_v second_o when_o professor_n in_o their_o practice_n swerve_v from_o the_o rule_n of_o morality_n the_o moral_a law_n be_v write_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o adam_n before_o his_o fall_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v write_v in_o the_o nature_n of_o every_o man_n so_o that_o by_o this_o man_n of_o the_o world_n be_v able_a to_o pass_v a_o judgement_n upon_o moral_a act_n whether_o they_o be_v good_a or_o bad_a though_o wicked_a man_n can_v judge_v of_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o godly_a nor_o of_o his_o work_n as_o they_o be_v the_o fruit_n of_o his_o faith_n yet_o they_o can_v judge_v of_o his_o morality_n and_o of_o his_o act_n as_o they_o be_v moral_a act_n now_o when_o man_n of_o the_o world_n see_v professor_n break_v the_o pale_n and_o bond_n of_o morality_n and_o transgress_v these_o rule_n they_o be_v just_o offend_v and_o know_v that_o they_o do_v evil_a
beauty_n but_o now_o offence_n of_o the_o saint_n be_v as_o scar_n upon_o the_o face_n of_o god_n working_n way_n etc._n etc._n by_o which_o the_o beauty_n of_o these_o be_v obscure_v to_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o world_n the_o jew_n be_v offend_v at_o christ_n and_o the_o beauty_n and_o glory_n of_o all_o his_o work_n his_o preach_n walk_a work_a miracle_n etc._n etc._n be_v hide_v to_o they_o 2_o by_o these_o misapprehension_n of_o the_o way_n truth_n people_n of_o god_n yea_o contrary_a to_o those_o common_a conviction_n that_o sometime_o they_o have_v have_v of_o these_o be_v beget_v in_o they_o the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n can_v not_o be_v without_o conviction_n sometime_o and_o strong_a too_o that_o christ_n be_v that_o son_n of_o god_n that_o his_o work_n be_v wrought_v by_o a_o deceiver_n who_o be_v holiness_n of_o self_n to_o be_v a_o friend_n to_o and_o patronizer_n of_o publican_n and_o sinner_n who_o be_v god_n himself_o to_o be_v beelzebub_n the_o prince_n of_o devil_n his_o work_n which_o be_v wrought_v by_o the_o finger_n of_o god_n to_o be_v diabolical_a so_o wonderful_o do_v a_o offence_n drink_v in_o upon_o every_o occasion_n work_n upon_o they_o in_o like_a manner_n wicked_a man_n can_v but_o sometime_o see_v a_o beauty_n in_o god_n way_n and_o their_o conscience_n in_o spite_n of_o their_o heart_n tell_v they_o and_o will_v make_v they_o sometime_o confess_v that_o they_o be_v good_a way_n and_o the_o best_a way_n but_o now_o when_o a_o offence_n lie_v before_o they_o some_o palpable_a offence_n by_o which_o a_o occasion_n of_o stumble_v be_v offer_v how_o be_v their_o thought_n and_o apprehension_n of_o god_n way_n and_o people_n alter_v they_o look_v upon_o they_o as_o the_o worst_a way_n in_o the_o world_n the_o most_o deceitful_a people_n in_o the_o world_n etc._n etc._n now_o what_o great_a judgement_n can_v befall_v a_o man_n than_o to_o be_v blind_v in_o the_o thing_n of_o god_n it_o be_v the_o punishment_n of_o the_o jew_n for_o that_o horrid_a sin_n of_o they_o in_o crucify_a the_o lord_n of_o life_n roman_n 11.25_o 3_o by_o these_o they_o bear_v and_o fence_v off_o from_o themselves_o the_o blow_n of_o home_n you_o neither_o shall_v reach_v he_o he_o lie_v in_o this_o opinion_n as_o in_o a_o bulwark_n and_o from_o it_o repel_v whatever_o assault_n be_v make_v upon_o he_o now_o what_o a_o fearful_a judgement_n be_v it_o for_o a_o man_n to_o be_v word-proof_n sermon-proof_n conscience-proof_n that_o neither_o the_o word_n nor_o his_o conscience_n can_v reach_v he_o yet_o as_o woeful_a and_o common_a experience_n teach_v thus_o it_o befall_v poor_a sinner_n in_o the_o world_n through_o offence_n offence_n fall_v upon_o their_o heart_n make_v their_o heart_n so_o brawny_a and_o hard_a that_o nothing_o will_v pierce_v they_o 4_o by_o these_o they_o be_v embolden_v to_o a_o neglect_n of_o and_o a_o opposition_n unto_o those_o very_a thing_n whereupon_o their_o eternal_a salvation_n depend_v a_o neglect_n of_o christ_n and_o a_o oppose_a heart_n to_o the_o thing_n of_o christ_n be_v the_o general_a disease_n of_o the_o world_n yet_o you_o shall_v observe_v it_o where_o the_o word_n be_v powerful_o preach_v and_o man_n sit_v under_o it_o there_o man_n guilty_a of_o such_o neglect_n do_v oft_o under_o the_o same_o meet_a with_o gripe_n and_o throb_n etc._n etc._n and_o though_o they_o have_v a_o oppose_a heart_n in_o they_o yet_o from_o the_o convincement_n they_o have_v of_o the_o goodness_n of_o the_o way_n of_o god_n which_o they_o see_v and_o hear_v discover_v and_o the_o badness_n of_o their_o own_o they_o dare_v not_o for_o their_o ear_n break_v forth_o into_o open_a opposition_n but_o now_o when_o offence_n arise_v than_o they_o be_v embolden_v to_o a_o neglect_n of_o the_o most_o concern_v thing_n for_o now_o think_v they_o sure_o there_o be_v not_o that_o necessity_n of_o these_o and_o these_o thing_n as_o we_o have_v think_v and_o be_v make_v to_o believe_v for_o be_v there_o certain_o such_o as_o follow_v after_o they_o will_v never_o do_v thus_o and_o thus_o or_o if_o the_o worst_a come_v we_o shall_v speed_v as_o well_o as_o they_o and_o from_o such_o a_o conceit_n drink_v in_o now_o they_o be_v bold_a who_o before_o dare_v not_o to_o scoff_n at_o and_o oppose_v the_o thing_n of_o christ_n and_o their_o own_o salvation_n now_o what_o a_o sad_a and_o heavy_a judgement_n be_v this_o for_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n to_o be_v make_v bold_a in_o neglect_v christ_n and_o salvation_n bold_a in_o oppose_v the_o mean_n of_o grace_n that_o now_o he_o can_v do_v it_o without_o fear_n or_o remorse_n this_o come_v in_o upon_o the_o world_n by_o offence_n 5_o by_o these_o they_o be_v confirm_v and_o harden_v in_o their_o own_o way_n of_o sin_n nothing_o do_v more_o confirm_v and_o settle_v a_o man_n in_o his_o own_o way_n and_o opinion_n whatsoever_o the_o same_o be_v than_o this_o to_o set_v a_o man_n of_o a_o contrary_a way_n or_o opinion_n to_o come_v up_o to_o he_o now_o when_o the_o sinner_n of_o the_o world_n see_v the_o saint_n of_o god_n come_v up_o to_o their_o way_n now_o they_o begin_v to_o think_v well_o of_o their_o own_o way_n which_o perhaps_o before_o they_o be_v suspicious_a of_o and_o to_o applaud_v they_o as_o the_o only_a way_n for_o say_v they_o do_v you_o not_o see_v that_o such_o and_o such_o who_o will_v seem_v to_o walk_v in_o contrary_a way_n yet_o come_v up_o to_o we_o what_o need_v we_o doubt_v of_o our_o way_n or_o call_v they_o in_o question_n when_o as_o they_o themselves_o that_o speak_v against_o they_o and_o will_v seem_v to_o walk_v in_o contrary_a way_n yet_o come_v and_o walk_v in_o they_o be_v not_o our_o way_n good_a way_n they_o will_v not_o the_o profane_a drunkard_n when_o a_o man_n of_o profession_n will_v come_v into_o the_o alehouse_n and_o there_o sit_v and_o bowse_v and_o tipple_v it_o with_o he_o certain_o say_v he_o my_o way_n be_v a_o good_a way_n now_o what_o a_o fearful_a judgement_n be_v this_o upon_o a_o man_n when_o a_o man_n be_v in_o the_o high_a way_n to_o hell_n and_o ride_a gallop_n thither_o and_o yet_o be_v confirm_v in_o his_o way_n that_o it_o be_v a_o good_a way_n that_o all_o the_o world_n can_v persuade_v he_o out_o of_o it_o 6_o and_o last_o by_o these_o the_o world_n be_v bring_v to_o blaspheme_v the_o good_a and_o right_a way_n of_o god_n as_o they_o be_v hereby_o confirm_v in_o their_o own_o way_n so_o also_o they_o come_v to_o blaspheme_v god_n wye_n for_o lay_v the_o fault_n of_o those_o that_o walk_v in_o it_o upon_o the_o way_n they_o call_v god_n way_n a_o deceitful_a way_n a_o hypocritical_a way_n a_o way_n that_o make_v those_o that_o walk_v in_o it_o hypocrite_n and_o dissembler_n thus_o the_o dust_n and_o dirt_n that_o some_o man_n corruption_n who_o walk_v in_o god_n way_n raise_v the_o world_n in_o a_o blasphemous_a way_n retort_v the_o same_o upon_o the_o way_n of_o god_n therefore_o after_o
