good_a acquaintance_n and_o choose_v such_o as_o they_o only_o hope_v to_o gain_v by_o and_o forsake_v those_o acquaintance_n that_o they_o can_v gain_v by_o though_o they_o be_v never_o so_o good_a otherwise_o they_o be_v lead_v according_a to_o the_o flesh_n how_o shall_v we_o know_v that_o we_o do_v not_o thing_n and_o consult_v not_o of_o thing_n according_a to_o the_o flesh_n flesh_n some_o man_n may_v know_v it_o easy_o as_o when_o man_n be_v of_o pregnant_a part_n when_o the_o strength_n of_o their_o wit_n lead_v they_o one_o way_n and_o religion_n lead_v they_o part_n another_o way_n yet_o in_o the_o awe_n of_o god_n they_o do_v not_o go_v that_o way_n that_o politic_a respect_n will_v carry_v they_o they_o can_v be_v as_o errant_a politician_n as_o the_o best_a but_o they_o dare_v not_o here_o now_o be_v a_o man_n that_o be_v lead_v by_o the_o spirit_n when_o it_o be_v not_o for_o want_v of_o part_n but_o out_o of_o conscience_n he_o do_v not_o so_o miscarry_v by_o his_o enemy_n many_o time_n a_o honest_a man_n can_v be_v rich_a by_o ill_a mean_n as_o well_o as_o another_o he_o know_v the_o way_n it_o be_v not_o for_o want_v of_o wit_n but_o because_o he_o dare_v not_o the_o awe_n of_o conscience_n and_o the_o awe_n of_o god_n lead_v he_o to_o better_a rule_n and_o aim_n so_o it_o be_v easy_o discern_v in_o eminency_n of_o part_n and_o likewise_o in_o fitness_n of_o opportunity_n if_o there_o be_v not_o part_n when_o a_o man_n have_v all_o outward_a advantage_n to_o satisfy_v the_o flesh_n to_o yield_v to_o it_o to_o have_v his_o aim_n and_o yet_o he_o will_v not_o if_o a_o man_n have_v power_n and_o yet_o do_v not_o opportunity_n revenge_v himself_o he_o consult_v not_o with_o flesh_n and_o blood_n for_o he_o may_v be_v revenge_v if_o he_o will_v so_o i_o say_v when_o there_o be_v something_o that_o may_v sway_v we_o another_o way_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o out_o of_o mere_a conscience_n and_o better_a rule_n we_o will_v not_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n we_o purpose_v not_o we_o advise_v not_o thing_n according_a to_o the_o flesh_n but_o according_a to_o the_o spirit_n we_o be_v lead_v with_o better_a rule_n then_o the_o world_n be_v in_o strong_a suggestion_n a_o joseph_n can_v say_v how_o shall_v i_o do_v this_o and_o offend_v against_o god_n do_v not_o god_n see_v it_o say_v job_n so_o a_o christian_a in_o the_o strength_n of_o temptation_n and_o solicitation_n and_o opportunity_n to_o do_v ill_a he_o consider_v do_v not_o god_n see_v how_o shall_v i_o do_v this_o and_o offend_v against_o god_n shall_v i_o break_v the_o peace_n of_o my_o conscience_n for_o the_o gain_n of_o this_o and_o this_o why_o no_o then_o a_o man_n be_v not_o lead_v with_o carnal_a wisdom_n again_o we_o may_v know_v this_o that_o we_o be_v all_o our_o consultation_n we_o have_v this_o counsellor_n always_o ready_a at_o quest._n hand_n as_o s._n paul_n complain_v rom._n 7._o that_o when_o we_o will_v do_v well_o evil_a be_v present_a it_o be_v present_a at_o our_o elbow_n nay_o it_o be_v near_o the_o flesh_n be_v mingle_v in_o all_o the_o power_n of_o our_o soul_n and_o with_o heavenly_a wisdom_n there_o be_v a_o mixture_n of_o carnal_a wisdom_n how_o shall_v we_o do_v that_o we_o may_v not_o be_v taint_v with_o it_o i_o will_v give_v a_o direction_n or_o two_o first_o of_o all_o have_v a_o prejudice_n of_o it_o cave_n time_n etc._n etc._n say_v the_o holy_a man_n s._n austin_n take_v heed_n of_o the_o evil_a man_n thyself_o take_v heed_n of_o carnal_a reason_n wisdom_n be_v jealous_a of_o it_o it_o be_v a_o enemy_n and_o the_o issue_n of_o the_o way_n it_o advise_v to_o be_v death_n there_o be_v a_o way_n that_o seem_v good_a to_o a_o man_n in_o his_o own_o eye_n the_o issue_n whereof_o be_v death_n not_o temporal_a only_o but_o eternal_a death_n it_o be_v a_o deadly_a enemy_n have_v a_o prejudice_n of_o it_o and_o conceit_n of_o it_o to_o be_v as_o it_o be_v have_v a_o jealousy_n of_o it_o and_o of_o our_o own_o self_n especial_o in_o thing_n that_o concern_v ourselves_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o a_o man_n be_v a_o incompetent_a judge_n in_o his_o own_o cause_n this_o because_o there_o be_v natural_a self-love_n and_o flesh_n that_o draw_v all_o to_o itself_o consult_v not_o with_o it_o therefore_o consult_v with_o high_a rule_n and_o principle_n what_o may_v make_v most_o for_o the_o chief_a end_n for_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n for_o the_o assurance_n of_o our_o comfort_n while_o we_o live_v here_o and_o a_o better_a estate_n hereafter_o that_o which_o may_v make_v most_o for_o the_o common_a good_a let_v we_o labour_n to_o live_v by_o right_a rule_n and_o principle_n god_n will_v value_v we_o by_o that_o put_v the_o case_n a_o man_n by_o passion_n be_v lead_v another_o way_n what_o be_v his_o rule_n what_o life_n be_v his_o aim_n his_o aim_n be_v not_o carnal_a he_o may_v fall_v by_o passion_n etc._n etc._n god_n judge_v not_o by_o passion_n but_o by_o the_o tenor_n of_o our_o life_n god_n esteem_v we_o not_o by_o a_o single_a particular_a exorbitant_a act_n that_o by_o passion_n or_o incogitancy_n a_o man_n fall_v into_o but_o by_o the_o tenor_n of_o our_o life_n therefore_o let_v we_o labour_n to_o have_v our_o rule_n and_o aim_v good_a though_o we_o fail_v in_o particular_a yet_o that_o our_o way_n may_v be_v good_a though_o we_o step_v let_v we_o consult_v with_o god_n consult_v with_o his_o word_n consult_v with_o those_o that_o be_v lead_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n labour_v to_o be_v under_o the_o government_n of_o god_n bless_a spirit_n to_o be_v guide_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n this_o shall_v be_v our_o care_n to_o labour_v that_o god_n will_v guide_v we_o by_o his_o good_a spirit_n in_o those_o way_n that_o may_v lead_v to_o our_o comfort_n that_o of_o all_o other_o enemy_n in_o the_o world_n he_o will_v not_o give_v we_o up_o to_o our_o own_o flesh_n to_o guide_v we_o but_o that_o he_o will_v take_v the_o guidance_n of_o we_o to_o himself_o that_o as_o he_o have_v right_a to_o we_o by_o his_o covenant_n so_o he_o will_v take_v we_o into_o his_o government_n and_o desire_v christ_n that_o as_o he_o be_v our_o priest_n to_o die_v for_o we_o so_o likewise_o he_o will_v be_v our_o prophet_n to_o instruct_v we_o to_o subdue_v all_o in_o we_o and_o let_v divine_a truth_n be_v our_o counsellor_n to_o bring_v our_o inner_a man_n into_o subjection_n as_o it_o be_v 2_o cor._n 10._o the_o weapon_n of_o our_o warfare_n be_v mighty_a to_o bring_v all_o into_o thing_n be_v not_o determinable_a any_o other_o way_n therefore_o it_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o great_a consequence_n that_o man_n take_v the_o word_n of_o truth_n not_o to_o be_v as_o the_o oracle_n foundation_n he_o shall_v soon_o be_v cast_v off_o so_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v true_a in_o itself_o but_o if_o we_o be_v not_o persuade_v so_o that_o it_o be_v infallible_o true_a that_o it_o be_v always_o yea_o we_o shall_v be_v shake_v with_o temptation_n when_o we_o be_v tempt_v to_o sin_n the_o temptation_n be_v present_a we_o be_v sure_a of_o the_o temptation_n if_o we_o be_v not_o
