punishment_n send_v of_o god_n be_v for_o this_o sin_n of_o they_o their_o unworthy_a receive_n of_o this_o sacrament_n answ_n i_o answer_v first_o he_o be_v teach_v and_o instruct_v by_o god_n be_v that_o this_o church_n and_o people_n be_v sick_a of_o and_o die_v it_o be_v sufficient_a for_o we_o to_o know_v that_o these_o sickness_n and_o disease_n which_o the_o lord_n have_v send_v be_v strange_a disease_n as_o may_v appear_v in_o that_o our_o apostle_n do_v take_v special_a notice_n of_o they_o which_o he_o will_v not_o have_v do_v if_o these_o have_v be_v ordinary_a the_o note_n that_o we_o may_v observe_v herehence_a be_v that_o sickness_n sin_n sickness_n and_o disease_n be_v the_o fruit_n of_o sin_n disease_n etc._n etc._n be_v the_o fruit_n of_o sin_n according_a to_o must_v then_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n at_o home_n in_o their_o house_n in_o their_o chamber_n and_o on_o their_o bed_n i_o do_v not_o speak_v this_o as_o that_o i_o hold_v it_o in_o all_o case_n unlawful_a so_o to_o do_v but_o that_o the_o sick_a desire_v it_o may_v have_v the_o same_o administer_v unto_o he_o that_o do_v hunger_n and_o thirst_n after_o the_o same_o and_o be_v in_o some_o his_o house_n and_o keep_v they_o back_o from_o his_o table_n lest_o they_o shall_v abuse_v so_o holy_a a_o ordinance_n they_o notwithstanding_o be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v humble_v for_o their_o they_o so_o sore_o for_o this_o sin_n of_o they_o their_o unworthy_a receive_n of_o this_o sacrament_n namely_o because_o they_o will_v not_o see_v their_o sin_n be_v humble_v for_o the_o same_o and_o condemn_v themselves_o as_o guilty_a before_o god_n of_o unworthy_a receive_n of_o this_o sacrament_n and_o therefore_o the_o lord_n be_v constrain_v to_o take_v the_o matter_n into_o his_o own_o hand_n and_o to_o correct_v they_o for_o the_o same_o for_o if_o we_o will_v judge_v ourselves_o that_o be_v enter_v into_o our_o own_o heart_n examine_v our_o own_o way_n and_o call_v our_o own_o sin_n unto_o account_n and_o condemn_v ourselves_o for_o the_o same_o then_o shall_v we_o not_o in_o this_o manner_n be_v judge_v and_o condemn_v of_o the_o lord_n concern_v this_o remedy_n here_o prescribe_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o avoid_v god_n judgement_n and_o eternal_a condemnation_n it_o stand_v we_o see_v in_o the_o practice_n of_o this_o most_o needful_a and_o christian_a duty_n of_o man_n enter_v into_o their_o heart_n and_o soul_n to_o examine_v and_o find_v out_o their_o sin_n and_o to_o judge_v and_o condemn_v themselves_o for_o the_o same_o now_o that_o we_o may_v perform_v this_o duty_n aright_o we_o must_v know_v self_n four_o thing_n necessary_a to_o the_o judge_v of_o a_o man_n self_n there_o be_v a_o fourfold_a duty_n to_o be_v perform_v by_o we_o for_o in_o judgement_n there_o must_v be_v examination_n accusation_n condemnation_n and_o execution_n and_o these_o four_o be_v likewise_o necessary_a to_o the_o judge_v of_o a_o man_n self_n first_o examination_n examination_n there_o must_v be_v a_o serious_a examination_n of_o ourselves_o and_o of_o our_o own_o estate_n how_o it_o fare_v betwixt_o god_n and_o our_o soul_n which_o be_v wrought_v by_o the_o law_n of_o god_n by_o the_o which_o as_o in_o a_o glass_n we_o may_v behold_v the_o sundry_a sin_n we_o have_v commit_v as_o so_o many_o spot_n and_o blemish_n in_o our_o soul_n and_o this_o examination_n and_o trial_n of_o our_o own_o heart_n and_o estate_n be_v so_o needful_a as_o that_o without_o it_o it_o be_v impossible_a to_o judge_v himself_o or_o to_o repent_v true_o of_o his_o sin_n for_o by_o the_o conscionable_a performance_n of_o this_o duty_n come_v the_o knowledge_n of_o sin_n and_o of_o our_o misery_n which_o be_v the_o first_o step_n unto_o true_a repentance_n
