less_o the_o vain_a pleasure_n thereof_o and_o yet_o withal_o rather_o than_o not_o enjoy_v the_o pleasure_n of_o sin_n for_o a_o season_n to_o make_v himself_o uncapable_a of_o those_o great_a blessing_n such_o a_o generation_n of_o man_n i_o find_v in_o holy_a scripture_n and_o god_n himself_o take_v notice_n of_o they_o who_o say_v we_o shall_v have_v peace_n though_o we_o walk_v in_o the_o imagination_n of_o our_o heart_n but_o withal_o i_o can_v scarce_o meet_v with_o god_n so_o impatient_a through_o the_o whole_a bible_n as_o he_o be_v with_o people_n of_o such_o a_o temper_n as_o this_o sure_o the_o lord_n will_v be_v avenge_v on_o such_o a_o nation_n as_o this_o and_o will_v make_v his_o fierce_a wrath_n to_o smoke_n against_o they_o 30._o therefore_o whosoever_o thou_o be_v that_o have_v take_v up_o thy_o resolution_n to_o walk_v in_o the_o imagination_n of_o thy_o own_o heart_n at_o least_o take_v so_o much_o pity_n of_o thyself_o do_v not_o thou_o thyself_o add_v violence_n and_o heart_n to_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n which_o shall_v smoke_v against_o thou_o by_o pretend_v to_o a_o belief_n of_o heaven_n or_o hell_n or_o by_o seem_v to_o profess_v that_o all_o thou_o know_v for_o what_o use_n even_o to_o be_v a_o mark_n against_o which_o he_o will_v empty_v his_o quiver_n and_o shoot_v out_o all_o dart_n of_o his_o fiery_a indignation_n in_o the_o punish_n of_o who_o he_o will_v express_v his_o almighty_a power_n 31._o but_o i_o can_v allow_v myself_o any_o long_a time_n to_o prosecute_v the_o former_a part_n of_o my_o proposition_n viz._n to_o show_v how_o much_o man_n deceive_v themselves_o who_o think_v they_o indeed_o believe_v the_o fundamental_a point_n of_o their_o faith_n when_o by_o their_o practice_n and_o course_n of_o life_n they_o live_v in_o a_o habitual_a exercise_n of_o such_o sin_n as_o be_v utter_v repugnant_a and_o destructive_a to_o such_o a_o belief_n and_o this_o i_o think_v i_o have_v perform_v but_o yet_o only_o in_o general_a term_n not_o descend_v to_o a_o view_n of_o some_o more_o eminent_a and_o particular_a sin_n and_o enormity_n for_o that_o therefore_o which_o remain_v of_o the_o time_n that_o your_o patience_n will_v allow_v i_o i_o will_v spend_v it_o in_o acquit_v myself_o of_o the_o other_o part_n of_o my_o promise_n namely_o in_o instance_v in_o some_o extraordinary_a incontrouled_a practice_n of_o these_o time_n and_o discover_v how_o utter_o they_o do_v destroy_v the_o very_a ground_n and_o foundation_n of_o our_o religion_n and_o how_o impossible_a it_o be_v they_o shall_v consist_v with_o a_o true_a sincere_a profession_n of_o christianity_n 32._o as_o first_o for_o example_n how_o ordinary_o do_v we_o meet_v with_o this_o practice_n for_o man_n which_o be_v above_o other_o in_o wealth_n and_o power_n to_o employ_v both_o these_o to_o their_o utmost_a ability_n for_o the_o maintain_n of_o a_o unjust_a cause_n against_o a_o poor_a inferior_a adversary_n i_o be_o sure_a this_o be_v no_o news_n to_o you_o you_o do_v not_o startle_v at_o the_o hear_n of_o such_o a_o crime_n as_o this_o and_o yet_o if_o it_o be_v well_o consider_v what_o can_v be_v imagine_v more_o monstrous_a and_o abominable_a for_o give_v i_o leave_v to_o suppose_v or_o put_v the_o case_n that_o some_o one_o of_o this_o company_n be_v guilty_a of_o this_o sin_n 33._o if_o i_o shall_v ask_v he_o whence_o and_o from_o who_o he_o have_v his_o riches_n or_o power_n who_o he_o will_v acknowledge_v for_o his_o benefactor_n i_o make_v no_o question_n but_o he_o will_v give_v i_o a_o good_a religious_a answer_n and_o say_v that_o he_o will_v not_o sacrifice_v to_o his_o net_n nor_o burn_v incense_n to_o his_o drag_v but_o that_o god_n who_o give_v a_o blessing_n to_o his_o care_n and_o endeavour_n have_v advance_v he_o to_o such_o a_o place_n and_o fortune_n in_o the_o world_n again_o if_o i_o shall_v ask_v he_o in_o what_o esteem_n and_o value_n he_o think_v that_o god_n hold_v his_o faithful_a servant_n or_o whether_o he_o will_v take_v it_o well_o to_o have_v they_o oppress_v and_o trample_v on_o on_o by_o other_o more_o potent_a than_o themselves_o he_o must_v needs_o answer_v again_o that_o god_n be_v no_o accepter_n of_o person_n neither_o riches_n nor_o poverty_n be_v a_o mean_n to_o procure_v his_o favour_n but_o that_o in_o all_o condition_n of_o man_n he_o that_o love_v righteousness_n and_o hate_v iniquity_n shall_v be_v accept_v by_o he_o 34._o if_o these_o be_v his_o answer_n as_o without_o all_o contradiction_n unless_o he_o will_v profess_v himself_o a_o atheist_n such_o must_v be_v the_o effect_n of_o they_o then_o let_v he_o consider_v in_o what_o a_o woeful_a condition_n he_o have_v conclude_v himself_o to_o be_v in_o and_z what_o reason_n he_o have_v to_o thank_v god_n for_o his_o honour_n or_o riches_n
