it_o be_v not_o so_o certain_a to_o assure_v thy_o soul_n what_o shall_v become_v of_o thou_o to_o all_o eternity_n the_o word_n of_o the_o law_n say_v who_o shall_v ascend_v into_o heaven_n etc._n etc._n but_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v nigh_o thou_o even_o in_o thy_o mouth_n and_o in_o thy_o heart_n you_o will_v say_v why_o be_v not_o the_o word_n of_o the_o law_n as_o nigh_o one_o as_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n i_o answer_v the_o word_n of_o the_o law_n you_o hear_v it_o in_o your_o ear_n but_o it_o be_v not_o write_v in_o the_o heart_n as_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v the_o law_n can_v work_v saving_o upon_o the_o heart_n of_o a_o man_n to_o bring_v salvation_n those_o that_o be_v mere_o legal_a they_o can_v hear_v the_o duty_n that_o be_v require_v but_o the_o word_n have_v no_o power_n to_o write_v in_o their_o heart_n what_o they_o do_v hear_v but_o now_o when_o you_o come_v to_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o be_v nigh_o you_o even_o in_o your_o very_a heart_n as_o well_o as_o in_o your_o ear_n god_n speak_v in_o it_o and_o it_o come_v into_o your_o heart_n and_o there_o it_o work_v efficacious_o which_o the_o law_n can_v the_o law_n be_v but_o a_o dead_a letter_n in_o comparison_n of_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n if_o you_o come_v mere_o to_o hear_v the_o law_n preach_v add_v not_o in_o a_o evangelical_n way_n you_o may_v hear_v it_o a_o hundred_o time_n and_o it_o will_v never_o be_v write_v in_o your_o heart_n but_o when_o you_o come_v to_o hear_v the_o gospel_n in_o a_o evangelical_n way_n that_o will_v come_v to_o be_v write_v in_o your_o heart_n so_o that_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v nigh_o you_o but_o what_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o other_o say_v not_o who_o shall_v ascend_v up_o into_o heaven_n &_o c_o the_o meaning_n be_v this_o as_o if_o the_o apostle_n shall_v say_v the_o truth_n be_v while_o you_o have_v no_o other_o but_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n you_o be_v at_o a_o infinite_a uncertainty_n about_o your_o eternal_a estate_n the_o law_n say_v do_v and_o live_v but_o you_o can_v never_o know_v when_o you_o have_v do_v enough_o so_o as_o to_o be_v certain_a that_o you_o be_v well_o for_o eternity_n that_o say_v who_o shall_v ascend_v into_o heaven_n to_o know_v the_o mind_n of_o god_n concern_v i_o whether_o he_o will_v accept_v of_o i_o and_o of_o that_o obedience_n and_o worship_n that_o i_o tender_v up_o to_o he_o who_o shall_v go_v down_o into_o the_o deep_a who_o shall_v go_v down_o to_o hell_n to_o know_v there_o whether_o that_o place_n be_v prepare_v for_o he_o or_o no_o it_o be_v a_o phrase_n that_o only_o express_v a_o uncertainty_n that_o one_o can_v be_v satisfy_v about_o his_o eternal_a estate_n except_o he_o can_v go_v to_o heaven_n and_o there_o see_v and_o read_v god_n book_n and_o so_o discover_v god_n mind_n concern_v he_o or_o go_v down_o to_o hell_n and_o so_o know_v whether_o that_o place_n be_v appoint_v for_o he_o or_o not_o except_o i_o can_v do_v one_o of_o these_o i_o can_v certain_o tell_v mere_o by_o the_o law_n whether_o i_o shall_v go_v to_o heaven_n or_o hell_n as_o you_o that_o be_v merchant_n and_o dealer_n abroad_o you_o be_v at_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o uncertainty_n what_o shall_v become_v of_o your_o estate_n indeed_o if_o i_o can_v send_v one_o over_o to_o the_o indies_n to_o tell_v i_o now_o my_o ship_n prosper_v than_o i_o can_v be_v at_o a_o certainty_n than_o i_o shall_v hear_v whether_o i_o be_v a_o rich_a man_n yea_o or_o no_o but_o except_o i_o can_v do_v such_o a_o thing_n i_o be_o at_o a_o uncertainty_n such_o be_v the_o expression_n here_o as_o if_o a_o poor_a soul_n shall_v say_v i_o will_v fain_o be_v save_v and_o loath_a to_o perish_v eternal_o but_o all_o the_o while_n the_o soul_n remain_v under_o the_o law_n it_o remain_v in_o a_o uncertain_a condition_n but_o now_o say_v he_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v nigh_o thou_o even_o in_o thy_o heart_n and_o that_o be_v the_o word_n that_o we_o preach_v that_o say_v rom._n 10._o 9_o if_o thou_o shall_v confess_v with_o thy_o mouth_n the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o shall_v believe_v in_o thy_o heart_n that_o god_n have_v raise_v he_o from_o the_o dead_a thou_o shall_v be_v save_v as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v this_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o be_v come_v into_o thy_o heart_n do_v assure_v thy_o soul_n of_o thy_o eternal_a estate_n so_o that_o though_o thou_o can_v not_o go_v up_o to_o heaven_n nor_o go_v down_o to_o hell_n yet_o thou_o have_v that_o in_o thy_o heart_n that_o do_v as_o it_o be_v assure_v thou_o that_o thou_o shall_v be_v eternal_o save_v as_o if_o thou_o be_v able_a to_o go_v up_o to_o the_o high_a heaven_n and_o fetch_v news_n from_o thence_o oh_o now_o the_o good_a word_n of_o the_o gospel_n how_o shall_v we_o prize_v it_o and_o keep_v it_o in_o our_o heart_n for_o that_o be_v in_o our_o heart_n that_o will_v assure_v we_o of_o our_o salvation_n to_o all_o eternity_n and_o of_o god_n eternal_a purpose_n to_o do_v thou_o good_a in_o heaven_n you_o will_v account_v it_o a_o great_a happiness_n if_o there_o can_v be_v any_o art_n to_o send_v abroad_o to_o the_o strait_o or_o to_o other_o place_n to_o know_v how_o thing_n fare_v with_o you_o but_o now_o if_o thou_o have_v the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n within_o thou_o if_o that_o prevail_v in_o thy_o soul_n thou_o have_v always_o get_v something_o in_o thy_o heart_n that_o will_v tell_v thou_o how_o thing_n be_v with_o thou_o in_o heaven_n and_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o thou_o for_o all_o eternity_n oh_o who_o will_v not_o sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o hear_v of_o his_o word_n see_v it_o be_v such_o a_o bless_a word_n wherein_o the_o gospel_n be_v open_v with_o more_o clearness_n than_o it_o have_v be_v to_o many_o of_o our_o forefather_n 2._o it_o be_v a_o certain_a evidence_n of_o your_o election_n in_o thess_n 1._o 3._o 4_o 5._o remember_v without_o cease_v your_o work_n of_o faith_n and_o labour_n of_o love_n and_o patience_n of_o hope_n in_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n and_o our_o father_n know_v brethren_n belove_v your_o election_n of_o god_n why_o for_o our_o gospel_n come_v not_o to_o you_o in_o word_n only_o but_o also_o in_o power_n and_o in_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o in_o much_o assurance_n and_o know_v this_o excellency_n there_o be_v in_o sanctify_a god_n name_v in_o hear_v the_o word_n i_o beseech_v you_o mark_v it_o that_o it_o be_v a_o more_o bless_a thing_n than_o if_o you_o do_v bear_v jesus_n christ_n in_o your_o womb_n you_o that_o be_v woman_n will_v not_o you_o have_v account_v it_o a_o great_a happiness_n if_o christ_n have_v be_v bear_v in_o your_o womb_n now_o if_o thou_o come_v to_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o word_n and_o sanctifie_v god_n name_n in_o it_o thou_o be_v in_o a_o better_a condition_n and_o have_v a_o great_a blessing_n upon_o thou_o than_o if_o thou_o have_v bear_v jesus_n christ_n in_o thy_o womb_n in_o luk_n 11._o 27_o 28._o and_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v as_o he_o speak_v these_o thing_n that_o a_o certain_a woman_n of_o the_o company_n lift_v up_o her_o voice_n and_o say_v unto_o he_o bless_a be_v the_o womb_n that_o bear_v thou_o and_o the_o pap_n which_o thou_o have_v suck_v see_v christ_n and_o what_o gracious_a thing_n come_v from_o he_o she_o speak_v so_o but_o he_o say_v yea_o rather_o bless_a be_v they_o that_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o keep_v it_o that_o be_v labour_n to_o sanctify_v my_o name_n as_o have_v be_v open_v in_o the_o particular_n rather_o be_v that_o woman_n bless_v that_o do_v so_o than_o the_o woman_n that_o bear_v christ_n me_n think_v this_o one_o scripture_n shall_v be_v such_o a_o scripture_n for_o woman_n to_o cause_v they_o to_o sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o hear_v of_o the_o word_n instead_o of_o a_o hundred_o scripture_n certain_o thou_o may_v be_v so_o bless_v if_o thou_o will_v believe_v the_o word_n that_o come_v from_o christ_n mouth_n 3._o do_v you_o sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o the_o word_n that_o will_v sanctify_v you_o by_o that_o your_o soul_n second_o our_o heart_n must_v be_v sanctify_v because_o the_o lord_n do_v look_v more_o to_o the_o principle_n from_o whence_o a_o thing_n come_v than_o at_o the_o the_o thing_n itself_o as_o indeed_o be_v our_o heart_n right_a as_o they_o shall_v than_o all_o the_o good_a thing_n that_o come_v to_o we_o we_o will_v not_o so_o much_o regard_v what_o the_o thing_n be_v that_o we_o do_v enjoy_v from_o god_n as_o what_o the_o principle_n be_v from_o whence_o they_o come_v that_o be_v whether_o what_o we_o do_v enjoy_v from_o god_n be_v from_o the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n or_o no_o whether_o it_o it_o be_v from_o the_o general_a bounty_n and_o patience_n of_o god_n or_o from_o the_o special_a love_n of_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n our_o heart_n will_v regard_v that_o most_o if_o we_o be_v spiritual_a now_o then_o look_v as_o a_o godly_a man_n be_v not_o satisfy_v with_o enjoy_v any_o good_a thing_n from_o god_n except_o he_o know_v it_o come_v from_o a_o principle_n of_o love_n to_o he_o in_o jesus_n christ_n so_o god_n be_v not_o please_v with_o any_o thing_n that_o come_v from_o we_o except_o he_o know_v that_o it_o come_v from_o a_o principle_n of_o love_n grace_n and_o holiness_n in_o our_o heart_n three_o according_a as_o the_o heart_n be_v so_o will_v the_o service_n be_v certain_o if_o the_o heart_n be_v unclean_a the_o duty_n will_v be_v unclean_a perhaps_o the_o word_n may_v be_v fine_a and_o brave_a but_o if_o there_o be_v a_o unclean_a heart_n the_o duty_n will_v be_v unclean_a as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o man_n that_o have_v the_o plague_n suppose_v he_o make_v a_o brave_a oration_n yet_o his_o breath_n be_v infectious_a so_o it_o be_v in_o our_o service_n with_o god_n if_o so_o be_v that_o our_o heart_n within_o we_o have_v the_o plague_n then_o certain_o the_o breath_n that_o come_v from_o we_o all_o our_o duty_n will_v be_v unclean_a and_o therefore_o that_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n that_o we_o be_v to_o look_v for_o in_o the_o sanctify_a god_n name_v in_o holy_a duty_n look_v to_o have_v thy_o heart_n sanctify_v and_o consider_v from_o what_o principle_n it_o come_v it_o be_v for_o want_n of_o this_o that_o thousand_o of_o our_o duty_n be_v cast_v aside_o and_o god_n never_o do_v regard_v they_o but_o this_o be_v the_o first_o particular_a there_o be_v many_o more_o to_o speak_v of_o sermon_n v._n leviticus_n 10._o 3._o i_o will_v be_v sanctify_v in_o they_o that_o come_v nigh_o i_o we_o proceed_v the_o next_o thing_n therefore_o for_o the_o behaviour_n of_o the_o soul_n in_o the_o sanctify_a god_n name_v in_o worship_n be_v this_o when_o we_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n if_o we_o will_v sanctify_v god_n name_n we_o must_v have_v high_a thought_n of_o god_n we_o must_v look_v upon_o god_n as_o he_o be_v upon_o his_o throne_n in_o majesty_n and_o in_o glory_n as_o in_o isa_n 9_o 1_o 2._o you_o shall_v find_v that_o the_o prophet_n see_v the_o lord_n upon_o his_o throne_n it_o be_v a_o excellent_a thing_n when_o all_o who_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n every_o time_n they_o come_v to_o worship_v he_o have_v their_o eye_n dart_v up_o to_o heaven_n and_o behold_v the_o lord_n god_n sit_v in_o his_o glory_n upon_o his_o throne_n so_o you_o shall_v find_v in_o rev._n 4._o the_o 24._o elder_n that_o worship_v god_n they_o see_v he_o upon_o his_o throne_n in_o his_o glory_n and_o so_o they_o worship_v he_o they_o worship_v god_n to_o purpose_n indeed_o when_o they_o see_v the_o lord_n in_o that_o majesty_n as_o he_o be_v we_o shall_v at_o all_o time_n have_v high_a thought_n of_o god_n take_v heed_n of_o have_v low_a thought_n and_o apprehension_n of_o the_o infinite_a majesty_n of_o god_n at_o any_o time_n but_o especial_o when_o thou_o be_v to_o worship_v the_o great_a god_n then_o look_v upon_o the_o lord_n in_o that_o infinite_a distance_n that_o there_o be_v between_o he_o and_o thyself_o yea_o that_o infinite_a distance_n that_o there_o be_v between_o he_o and_o all_o creature_n in_o the_o world_n look_v upon_o the_o lord_n as_o lift_v up_o in_o glory_n not_o only_o above_o all_o creature_n but_o above_o all_o excellency_n that_o all_o angel_n and_o man_n in_o heaven_n and_o earth_n be_v able_a to_o imagine_v look_v upon_o the_o lord_n as_o have_v all_o excellency_n in_o himself_o join_v in_o one_o and_o that_o immutable_o look_v upon_o he_o as_o the_o fountain_n of_o all_o excellency_n good_a and_o glory_n that_o all_o creature_n in_o the_o world_n have_v and_o look_v upon_o the_o lord_n every_o time_n thou_o come_v to_o worship_v he_o as_o that_o god_n who_o angel_n do_v adore_v and_o before_o who_o the_o devil_n be_v force_v to_o tremble_v behold_v he_o in_o this_o his_o glory_n and_o this_o will_v help_v thou_o to_o sanctify_v his_o name_n when_o thou_o come_v to_o he_o the_o great_a reason_n why_o people_n come_v and_o worship_n god_n in_o a_o slight_a way_n it_o be_v because_o that_o they_o do_v not_o see_v god_n in_o his_o glory_n it_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n for_o god_n to_o give_v unto_o we_o a_o sight_n of_o himself_o a_o sight_n of_o his_o glory_n here_o in_o this_o world_n while_o we_o be_v worship_v of_o he_o this_o will_v keep_v our_o eye_n and_o our_o thought_n from_o wander_a if_o we_o have_v a_o sight_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o have_v high_a thought_n of_o god_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o we_o wander_v so_o as_o we_o do_v but_o mere_o because_o we_o see_v not_o god_n as_o now_o suppose_v you_o be_v in_o your_o house_n and_o look_v after_o every_o feather_n that_o be_v fly_v up_o and_o down_o if_o you_o shall_v hear_v that_o the_o king_n be_v come_v into_o the_o room_n or_o any_o great_a person_n it_o will_v compose_v your_o spirit_n because_o you_o have_v high_a thought_n of_o such_o as_o of_o those_o that_o be_v above_o you_o so_o let_v we_o look_v upon_o god_n as_o in_o his_o excellency_n and_o his_o glory_n and_o have_v high_a thought_n of_o he_o and_o this_o be_v that_o whereby_o we_o be_v to_o sanctify_v god_n name_n when_o we_o come_v before_o he_o in_o holy_a duty_n and_o that_o be_v the_o second_o thing_n first_o a_o sanctify_a heart_n and_o then_o high_a thought_n of_o god_n 3._o a_o three_o thing_n be_v high-end_n raised-end_n in_o the_o worship_v of_o god_n prov._n 15._o 24._o the_o way_n of_o life_n be_v above_o to_o the_o wise_a it_o be_v on_o high_a in_o this_o respect_n when_o he_o worship_v god_n his_o heart_n be_v lift_v up_o on_o high_a there_o be_v a_o holy_a raise_n of_o the_o heart_n which_o be_v well_o please_v to_o god_n our_o heart_n shall_v be_v on_o high_a in_o regard_n of_o the_o high_a end_n that_o we_o aim_v at_o in_o holy_a duty_n lift_v up_o thy_o prayer_n say_v hezekiah_n to_o the_o prophet_n in_o another_o case_n so_o i_o may_v say_v lift_v up_o thy_o soul_n when_o thou_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o high_a end_n that_o thou_o aim_v at_o when_o we_o be_v worship_v god_n we_o shall_v have_v our_o heart_n above_o all_o creature_n and_o above_o ourselves_o let_v not_o our_o heart_n then_o be_v grovel_v upon_o the_o ground_n mingle_v with_o base_a and_o drossy_a thing_n when_o we_o come_v to_o worship_v the_o lord_n indeed_o it_o be_v fit_a that_o we_o shall_v have_v our_o heart_n low_a as_o we_o shall_v show_v hereafter_o in_o regard_n of_o humility_n but_o not_o low_a in_o regard_n of_o any_o baseness_n of_o spirit_n to_o mix_v with_o any_o base_a and_o low_a end_n now_o there_o be_v low_a and_o base_a end_n in_o worship_v of_o god_n as_o first_o we_o must_v take_v the_o word_n or_o what_o ever_o it_o be_v to_z cloak_z any_o kind_n of_o wickedness_n whosoever_o be_v conscious_a to_o himself_o of_o any_o kind_n of_o secret_a wickedness_n and_o yet_o shall_v think_v to_o cover_v it_o by_o the_o performance_n of_o duty_n and_o shall_v reason_v in_o this_o manner_n who_o will_v think_v i_o to_o be_v guilty_a of_o such_o a_o vile_a thing_n when_o i_o pray_v so_o as_o i_o do_v and_o be_o so_o careful_a to_o hear_v
you_o use_v then_o to_o seal_v so_o it_o must_v be_v here_o i_o will_v appeal_v to_o many_o of_o your_o conscience_n that_o have_v come_v to_o the_o lord_n supper_n what_o transaction_n have_v there_o be_v between_o god_n and_o your_o soul_n can_v thou_o say_v the_o lord_n be_v please_v to_o reveal_v himself_o to_o i_o to_o make_v know_v to_o i_o my_o wretched_a condition_n and_o the_o way_n of_o grace_n and_o salvation_n and_o show_v i_o that_o upon_o my_o come_n in_o to_o receive_v his_o son_n he_o will_v be_v merciful_a to_o i_o and_o pardon_v my_o sin_n and_o i_o have_v find_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n work_v my_o heart_n to_o jesus_n christ_n the_o lord_n from_o heaven_n speak_v to_o i_o and_o i_o send_v a_o answer_n to_o heaven_n again_o how_o willing_a my_o soul_n be_v to_o accept_v of_o the_o covenant_n which_o the_o lord_n have_v make_v with_o poor_a creature_n in_o the_o word_n of_o his_o gospel_n can_v thou_o say_v this_o in_o the_o uprightness_n of_o thy_o heart_n if_o not_o know_v that_o this_o seal_n belong_v not_o to_o thou_o until_o the_o lord_n have_v by_o his_o word_n subdue_v thy_o heart_n to_o this_o agreement_n first_o with_o he_o second_o this_o ordinance_n it_o be_v the_o ordinance_n of_o spiritual_a nourishment_n of_o eat_v the_o flesh_n of_o christ_n and_o drink_v blood_n in_o a_o spiritual_a way_n now_o it_o must_v needs_o suppose_v that_o first_o there_o must_v be_v life_n before_o there_o can_v be_v any_o nourishment_n receive_v in_o if_o it_o be_v appoint_v to_o nourish_v and_o increase_v grace_n then_o sure_o there_o must_v be_v grace_n before_o what_o nourishment_n can_v a_o dead_a child_n take_v the_o very_a first_o thing_n that_o be_v to_o be_v do_v be_v nourishment_n here_o the_o word_n have_v power_n to_o convey_v in_o the_o world_n more_o pleasant_a to_o god_n than_o to_o have_v his_o saint_n come_v into_o his_o presence_n what_o do_v a_o father_n more_o delight_n in_o than_o to_o have_v his_o child_n about_o he_o never_o do_v any_o father_n or_o mother_n love_v to_o have_v their_o child_n by_o they_o so_o as_o god_n love_v to_o have_v his_o child_n come_v nigh_o he_o and_o be_v often_o with_o he_o and_o the_o truth_n be_v one_o great_a reason_n that_o god_n suffer_v you_o to_o fall_v into_o affliction_n so_o much_o be_v that_o you_o may_v come_v run_v to_o he_o how_o do_v the_o child_n come_v run_v be_v very_o near_o link_v together_o yet_o if_o they_o be_v long_o absent_a one_o from_o another_o there_o grow_v a_o strangeness_n and_o so_o by_o degree_n their_o friendship_n be_v deaden_v but_o now_o when_o they_o be_v together_o every_o day_n and_o there_o be_v a_o intercourse_n of_o love_n and_o friendship_n than_o their_o friendship_n be_v keep_v active_a and_o quick_a but_o now_o if_o they_o be_v absent_a long_o indeed_o if_o they_o be_v absent_a in_o another_o country_n when_o they_o can_v come_v together_o that_o they_o be_v sure_a it_o be_v not_o through_o any_o neglect_n than_o it_o will_v not_o damp_n their_o friendship_n but_o when_o they_o be_v near_o and_o come_v not_o one_o to_o another_o than_o they_o think_v it_o be_v out_o of_o neglect_n and_o so_o they_o grow_v to_o we_o but_o now_o when_o we_o have_v those_o duty_n of_o worship_n wherein_o we_o may_v draw_v nigh_o to_o god_n if_o we_o neglect_v they_o our_o familiarity_n with_o god_n will_v quick_o be_v lose_v acquaint_v thyself_o with_o god_n and_o be_v at_o peace_n god_n be_v willing_a to_o be_v acquaint_v with_o his_o servant_n the_o lord_n love_v to_o be_v familiar_a with_o the_o poor_a of_o his_o saint_n and_o will_v not_o thou_o maintain_v that_o sweet_a familiarity_n with_o god_n these_o two_o benefit_n will_v follow_v upon_o thy_o familiarity_n with_o god_n first_o those_o that_o be_v most_o familiar_a with_o god_n they_o

to_o they_o see_v that_o you_o refuse_v not_o he_o that_o speak_v for_o if_o they_o escape_v not_o who_o refuse_v he_o that_o speak_v on_o earth_n much_o more_o shall_v not_o we_o escape_v if_o we_o hear_v his_o word_n in_o those_o way_n that_o have_v be_v open_v to_o you_o first_o you_o lose_v the_o great_a and_o happy_a opportunity_n of_o good_a that_o ever_o creature_n have_v for_o a_o outward_a opportunity_n indeed_o when_o god_n move_v by_o his_o spirit_n if_o that_o be_v neglect_v that_o opportunity_n be_v more_o than_o mere_o hear_v his_o word_n but_o otherwise_o except_o it_o be_v at_o such_o a_o time_n when_o god_n add_v his_o spirit_n together_o with_o his_o word_n i_o say_v you_o that_o be_v cast_v by_o the_o providence_n of_o god_n in_o such_o a_o place_n where_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v preach_v to_o you_o apply_v and_o urge_v upon_o you_o if_o you_o sanctify_v not_o the_o name_n of_o god_n to_o hear_v as_o you_o ought_v and_o to_o profit_v by_o it_o gospel_n and_o yet_o have_v not_o be_v acquaint_v with_o this_o mystery_n of_o godliness_n in_o sanctify_a god_n name_v in_o the_o word_n there_o be_v many_o thousand_o soul_n that_o be_v and_o shall_v be_v blessing_n god_n to_o all_o eternity_n for_o what_o of_o god_n they_o have_v meet_v withal_o in_o the_o word_n but_o thou_o have_v sit_v under_o it_o stupe_v as_o a_o block_n dead_a and_o wonderful_a thing_n of_o god_n it_o be_v the_o most_o glorious_a sight_n in_o the_o world_n all_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n in_o the_o heaven_n and_o earth_n be_v not_o like_o this_o sight_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o do_v appear_v to_o the_o eye_n of_o faith_n therefore_o you_o may_v by_o this_o know_v whether_o you_o have_v come_v with_o faith_n or_o no_o to_o the_o sacrament_n whether_o you_o have_v see_v the_o most_o glorious_a sight_n that_o ever_o your_o eye_n do_v behold_v alas_o with_o our_o natural_a eye_n we_o behold_v a_o minister_n come_v with_o a_o piece_n of_o bread_n and_o a_o little_a wine_n but_o when_o the_o eye_n of_o faith_n be_v open_v than_o we_o behold_v the_o glorious_a thing_n of_o the_o gospel_n many_o time_n when_o you_o come_v to_o hear_v the_o word_n your_o heart_n burn_v within_o you_o as_o they_o that_o go_v to_o emaus_n but_o when_o you_o be_v break_v bread_n the_o eye_n of_o faith_n that_o must_v look_v upon_o jesus_n christ_n and_o in_o this_o sense_n those_o that_o have_v pierce_v christ_n must_v look_v upon_o he_o that_o scripture_n be_v fulfil_v in_o zachariah_n 12._o latter_a end_n they_o faith_n come_v and_o close_v with_o this_o gift_n of_o the_o father_n and_o cast_v its_o self_n upon_o jesus_n christ_n and_o say_v as_o it_o be_v amen_n to_o what_o the_o father_n give_v oh_o lord_n whereas_o they_o may_v not_o receive_v it_o sit_v whereas_o christ_n say_v that_o your_o sit_v with_o i_o here_o be_v a_o signification_n of_o your_o sit_v with_o i_o when_o i_o come_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n some_o say_v they_o must_v kneel_v because_o they_o may_v receive_v it_o with_o more_o reverence_n certain_o be_v it_o a_o thing_n as_o some_o say_v indifferent_a it_o be_v into_o every_o one_o hand_n answ_n no_o because_o that_o the_o give_v of_o it_o once_o for_o all_o do_v signify_v more_o full_o the_o fellowship_n and_o communion_n that_o they_o have_v together_o as_o at_o a_o table_n it_o be_v a_o strange_a thing_n that_o every_o bit_n of_o meat_n must_v be_v give_v to_o every_o one_o particular_o no_o but_o the_o dish_n must_v be_v set_v before_o they_o and_o they_o must_v take_v it_o themselves_o indeed_o if_o they_o be_v child_n you_o cut_v every_o piece_n of_o meat_n and_o give_v it_o into_o their_o hand_n or_o mouth_n but_o that_o be_v suitable_a to_o a_o fellowship_n at_o table_n and_o communion_n to_o have_v the_o meat_n set_v before_o they_o be_v blessed_v and_o then_o for_o all_o to_o partake_v of_o it_o and_o beside_o this_o giving_z it_o into_o every_o one_o hand_n certain_o it_o come_v to_o we_o from_o a_o popish_a and_o superstitous_a conceit_n of_o the_o papist_n for_o the_o papist_n will_v give_v it_o into_o their_o mouth_n because_o the_o people_n must_v not_o defile_v it_o with_o their_o hand_n and_o it_o be_v to_o bring_v more_o reverence_n to_o the_o sacrament_n now_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o danger_n for_o to_o bring_v in_o man_n device_n for_o to_o cause_v more_o reverence_n we_o be_v to_o look_v to_o the_o ordinance_n of_o christ_n he_o give_v it_o once_o and_o say_v drink_v you_o all_o of_o it_o in_o general_a to_o they_o all_o and_o so_o the_o minister_n shall_v do_v and_o beside_o there_o be_v this_o in_o it_o more_o and_o one_o will_v wonder_v that_o minister_n shall_v give_v it_o in_o particular_a and_o not_o in_o general_a to_o the_o church_n for_o by_o this_o mean_n minister_n may_v abundant_o ease_v themselves_o of_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o charge_n and_o guilt_n for_o upon_o this_o ground_n it_o will_v appear_v that_o a_o minister_n though_o as_o a_o eminent_a officer_n he_o be_v to_o look_v to_o his_o
keep_v covenant_n on_o his_o part_n but_o it_o may_v be_v we_o shall_v not_o keep_v covenant_n on_o we_o and_o so_o we_o may_v fail_v at_o last_o but_o now_o when_o thou_o look_v upon_o all_o the_o good_a thing_n in_o the_o gospel_n dispense_v in_o the_o way_n of_o a_o testament_n that_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n the_o legacy_n that_o god_n do_v bequeath_v to_o his_o servant_n this_o be_v a_o mighty_a comfort_n to_o the_o foul_a that_o all_o the_o precious_a thing_n of_o the_o gospel_n come_v to_o i_o in_o the_o way_n of_o a_o testament_n and_o that_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o new_a substance_n but_o administer_v in_o a_o dark_a way_n and_o many_o difference_n there_o be_v but_o now_o when_o we_o hear_v of_o the_o new_a testament_n there_o be_v present_v unto_o we_o all_o the_o riches_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n in_o the_o way_n of_o a_o legacy_n and_o in_o the_o administration_n of_o it_o with_o cleverness_n and_o with_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o mercy_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n the_o terror_n and_o harshness_n of_o the_o old_a administration_n be_v take_v away_o now_o these_o be_v the_o meditation_n by_o which_o we_o shall_v labour_v to_o sanctify_v our_o heart_n when_o we_o be_v receive_v of_o the_o sacrament_n and_o in_o the_o work_n of_o these_o meditation_n upon_o our_o heart_n we_o shall_v come_v to_o sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n jesus_n christ_n look_v as_o once_o thou_o do_v in_o thy_o first_o conversion_n when_o christ_n be_v present_v to_o thou_o in_o the_o word_n or_o in_o any_o other_o way_n there_o be_v a_o act_n of_o
