notwithstanding_o their_o sin_n but_o that_o do_v indeed_o foment_n their_o sin_n and_o make_v they_o secure_a in_o their_o sin_n make_v they_o the_o more_o secure_a in_o their_o sin_n but_o now_o when_o the_o soul_n shall_v by_o the_o true_a geminine_a act_n of_o faith_n rest_n in_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n notwithstanding_o corruption_n if_o it_o be_v right_a such_o a_o soul_n feel_v no_o mean_n in_o the_o world_n of_o great_a efficacy_n to_o cure_v and_o prevail_v against_o corruption_n then_o this_o to_o trust_v in_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n notwithstanding_o corruption_n and_o if_o thou_o find_v it_o thus_o thou_o have_v no_o cause_n to_o fear_v trust_v in_o god_n grace_n with_o confidence_n for_o it_o be_v that_o which_o be_v well_o please_v unto_o god_n and_o that_o they_o than_o they_o go_v to_o god_n above_o all_o god_n never_o hear_v such_o strong_a cry_n come_v up_o to_o heaven_n in_o regard_n of_o any_o affliction_n as_o this_o and_o by_o the_o way_n you_o may_v find_v by_o this_o how_o your_o heart_n be_v when_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n be_v upon_o you_o in_o affliction_n than_o you_o will_v cry_v to_o god_n but_o i_o put_v this_o to_o you_o have_v shall_v have_v none_o of_o that_o in_o heaven_n and_o he_o have_v it_o therefore_o here_o 5._o god_n hereby_o exercise_v his_o wisdom_n exceed_o in_o bring_v light_n out_o of_o darkeness_n god_n do_v see_v now_o by_o this_o that_o i_o have_v need_n of_o a_o christ_n certain_o if_o congregation_n be_v sensible_a of_o this_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n oh_o how_o will_v their_o soul_n rejoice_v in_o in_o man_n that_o be_v only_o under_o the_o law_n there_o be_v a_o principle_n contrary_n to_o the_o performance_n thereof_o 3._o such_o be_v weary_v with_o do_v get_v no_o supply_n of_o strength_n to_o perform_v duty_n 4._o by_o their_o performance_n they_o still_o contract_v more_o gild_n upon_o their_o soul_n 5._o what_o they_o do_v in_o obedience_n unto_o the_o law_n be_v only_o out_o of_o fear_n 6._o and_o with_o much_o straitness_n of_o spirit_n 7._o nothing_o come_v of_o such_o performance_n 8._o they_o that_o perform_v duty_n in_o a_o mere_a legal_a way_n never_o attain_v their_o end_n which_o be_v peace_n with_o god_n 9_o they_o know_v not_o whether_o god_n accept_v of_o they_o or_o reject_v they_o 10._o they_o be_v force_v unto_o duty_n instant_o present_o and_o upon_o the_o sudden_a though_o to_o the_o hindrance_n of_o other_o duty_n of_o great_a concernment_n which_o god_n require_v of_o they_o at_o the_o same_o time_n 11._o though_o they_o go_v on_o ioyl_v yet_o know_v they_o not_o whether_o they_o shall_v bold_o out_o unto_o the_o end_n 12._o their_o humiliation_n and_o trouble_n for_o not_o do_v what_o they_o ought_v to_o do_v binder_n they_o from_o do_v what_o god_n require_v now_o there_o be_v one_o thing_n more_o that_o be_v as_o a_o appendix_n unto_o the_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n flow_v indeed_o from_o and_o be_v tie_v unto_o the_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n and_o that_o be_v the_o burden_n of_o legal_a performance_n not_o only_o the_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n in_o regard_n of_o what_o the_o law_n require_v the_o perfect_a obedience_n that_o the_o law_n require_v that_o burden_n come_v from_o the_o law_n itself_o but_o now_o there_o be_v a_o burden_n that_o many_o be_v under_o a_o very_a heavy_a and_o grievous_a burden_n and_o that_o be_v the_o burden_n of_o legal_a performance_n and_o this_o be_v that_o that_o be_v to_o be_v the_o subject_n of_o this_o chapter_n i_o intend_v to_o go_v no_o further_o then_o to_o speak_v of_o that_o burden_n to_o open_v it_o a_o little_a to_o you_o and_o that_o as_o i_o tell_v you_o at_o the_o
burden_n to_o any_o man_n or_o woman_n that_o heretofore_o have_v assurance_n of_o god_n love_n and_o be_v able_a to_o look_v in_o god_n face_n with_o joy_n to_o have_v this_o assurance_n shake_v yea_o many_o time_n it_o make_v god_n withdraw_v his_o countenance_n which_o make_v david_n cry_v out_o restore_v to_o i_o the_o joy_n of_o thy_o salvation_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v lord_n i_o be_v wont_a to_o have_v joy_n in_o thy_o company_n in_o communion_n with_o thou_o but_o thou_o have_v estrange_v thyself_o from_o my_o soul_n o_o lord_n restore_v unto_o i_o the_o joy_n of_o thy_o salvation_n now_o be_v not_o this_o a_o burden_n for_o thou_o to_o loose_v the_o sweetness_n of_o thy_o soul_n in_o communion_n with_o god_n that_o now_o though_o it_o may_v be_v it_o be_v through_o thy_o weakness_n or_o what_o it_o will_v be_v yet_o thou_o can_v not_o look_v upon_o god_n with_o that_o comfort_n as_o thou_o will_v but_o the_o thought_n of_o god_n come_v to_o be_v a_o terror_n upon_o thy_o spirit_n be_v not_o this_o a_o burden_n now_o then_o be_v there_o any_o poor_a soul_n that_o understand_v what_o these_o thing_n mean_v what_o a_o burden_n the_o remain_a corruption_n of_o the_o heart_n be_v either_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o sinfulness_n of_o nature_n or_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o stir_n of_o corruption_n or_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o prevail_a of_o corruption_n that_o now_o they_o have_v no_o rest_n in_o their_o soul_n but_o be_v lade_v with_o such_o a_o burden_n and_o cry_v out_o with_o the_o apostle_n oh_o wretched_a man_n and_o woman_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o let_v such_o a_o soul_n know_v that_o this_o text_n belong_v to_o they_o come_v unto_o i_o say_v christ_n and_o i_o will_v give_v you_o rest_v from_o this_o burden_n as_o well_o as_o the_o other_o burden_n and_o our_o rest_n be_v only_o in_o christ_n from_o this_o as_o well_o as_o the_o burden_n of_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n the_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n and_o the_o other_o burden_n that_o have_v be_v speak_v unto_o chap._n xvi_o why_o the_o saint_n feel_v these_o thing_n so_o burdensome_a namely_o 1._o because_o the_o life_n of_o grace_n be_v a_o tender_a and_o delicate_a thing_n 2._o because_o grace_n keep_v the_o soul_n in_o continual_a act_n and_o why_o god_n suffer_v corruption_n notwithstanding_o the_o burdensomness_n thereof_o to_o remain_v in_o the_o saint_n namely_o 1._o that_o hereby_o he_o may_v show_v forth_o his_o own_o power_n 2._o hereby_o their_o faith_n be_v exercise_v 3._o hereby_o they_o be_v drive_v unto_o prayer_n 4._o hereby_o stir_v up_o unto_o repentance_n 5._o hereby_o make_v know_v his_o wisdom_n 6._o hereby_o manifest_v his_o justice_n in_o lay_v a_o stumble_a block_n before_o the_o wicked_a 7._o hereby_o the_o saint_n may_v be_v induce_v to_o long_o more_o after_o heaven_n with_o two_o consequence_n issue_v from_o hence_o 1._o the_o difference_n between_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o godly_a and_o the_o wicked_a 2._o why_o the_o saint_n go_v on_o so_o sad_o in_o their_o way_n now_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v that_o a_o gracious_a heart_n must_v feel_v these_o thing_n to_o be_v very_o burdensome_a first_o because_o the_o life_n of_o grace_n wheresoever_o it_o be_v be_v a_o very_a tender_a and_o delicate_a thing_n nothing_o be_v so_o delicate_a and_o tender_a as_o the_o life_n of_o grace_n and_o therefore_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v sensible_a of_o this_o burden_n of_o corruption_n according_a to_o what_o degree_n it_o do_v remain_v in_o the_o soul_n as_o thus_o you_o know_v a_o man_n or_o woman_n the_o more_o delicate_a and_o tender_a they_o be_v in_o their_o flesh_n have_v have_v very_o curious_a bring_v up_o or_o it_o may_v be_v their_o natural_a spirit_n be_v very_o delicate_a more_o than_o other_o man_n some_o man_n their_o natural_a spirit_n be_v more_o gross_a and_o can_v bear_v burden_n with_o less_o sense_n but_o now_o those_o that_o be_v more_o fine_a and_o delicate_a if_o you_o lay_v a_o burden_n upon_o they_o oh_o how_o burdensome_a be_v it_o unto_o they_o now_o grace_n make_v the_o constitution_n to_o be_v delicate_a fine_a and_o pure_a a_o pure_a constitution_n it_o put_v the_o heart_n into_o a_o most_o pure_a constitution_n and_o therefore_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v sensible_a of_o the_o evil_a of_o sin_n according_a to_o the_o remainer_n of_o it_o second_o where_o grace_n be_v corruption_n must_v needs_o be_v very_o burdensome_a in_o this_o regard_n also_o because_o that_o grace_n keep_v the_o soul_n in_o continual_a action_n and_o stir_v now_o look_v as_o a_o man_n that_o have_v a_o leg_n that_o be_v break_v if_o he_o can_v lie_v still_o and_o never_o stir_v it_o will_v not_o be_v so_o grievous_a and_o burdensome_a to_o he_o the_o pain_n and_o break_n of_o his_o leg_n will_v not_o be_v so_o burdensome_a if_o he_o can_v lie_v still_o but_o if_o this_o man_n who_o leg_n be_v break_v must_v be_v stir_v walk_a and_o go_v up_o and_o down_o oh_o how_o burdensome_a be_v it_o that_o his_o leg_n be_v break_v so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o soul_n it_o be_v true_a if_o the_o soul_n may_v be_v still_o a_o sleep_n and_o do_v nothing_o then_o though_o there_o be_v corruption_n in_o they_o it_o will_v not_o be_v so_o grievous_a i_o but_o grace_n wherever_o it_o be_v put_v the_o soul_n unto_o action_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v call_v the_o divine_a nature_n because_o it_o be_v active_a it_o put_v the_o soul_n on_o to_o be_v act_v for_o god_n and_o in_o the_o way_n of_o life_n now_o grace_n put_v the_o soul_n to_o be_v act_v and_o corruption_n that_o be_v as_o the_o break_n of_o the_o bone_n it_o must_v needs_o be_v very_o burdensome_a that_o which_o most_o hinder_v their_o activity_n of_o grace_n must_v needs_o be_v very_o burdensome_a you_o have_v need_v therefore_o take_v heed_n what_o you_o do_v when_o temptation_n to_o sin_n come_v take_v heed_n you_o do_v not_o break_v your_o bone_n and_o your_o leg_n why_o because_o when_o you_o have_v break_v they_o you_o must_v be_v still_o stir_v and_o act_v for_o god_n a_o poor_a man_n it_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n worse_o for_o he_o if_o he_o break_v his_o leg_n than_o a_o rich_a man_n a_o rich_a man_n may_v sit_v by_o the_o fire_n or_o lie_v in_o his_o bed_n a_o month_n together_o but_o a_o poor_a man_n if_o he_o break_v his_o leg_n he_o do_v not_o know_v what_o to_o do_v he_o must_v to_o work_n perhaps_o he_o can_v have_v that_o harbour_n that_o a_o rich_a man_n may_v have_v so_o i_o say_v those_o that_o be_v of_o sluggish_a spirit_n though_o corruption_n prevail_v it_o be_v not_o so_o grievous_a unto_o they_o but_o those_o that_o be_v of_o active_a spirit_n and_o have_v grace_n and_o the_o more_o grace_n that_o any_o man_n or_o woman_n have_v the_o more_o burdensome_a their_o corruption_n be_v because_o the_o more_o grace_n there_o be_v in_o the_o soul_n the_o more_o active_a it_o will_v be_v for_o god_n quest_n but_o you_o will_v say_v see_v the_o remain_v of_o corruption_n in_o the_o heurt_n of_o the_o saint_n be_v so_o burdensome_a why_o do_v god_n so_o order_v thing_n in_o his_o providence_n as_o his_o own_o dear_a saint_n shall_v be_v so_o trouble_v with_o their_o corruption_n while_o they_o live_v in_o this_o world_n god_n can_v deliver_v they_o from_o their_o corruption_n why_o will_v god_n make_v they_o cry_v out_o o_o wretched_a man_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o this_o body_n of_o death_n god_n can_v as_o well_o perfect_a our_o sanctification_n as_o our_o justification_n why_o do_v god_n thus_o order_v thing_n in_o his_o providence_n that_o his_o own_o dear_a saint_n shall_v groan_v under_o such_o a_o burden_n of_o corruption_n all_o their_o day_n answ_n for_o that_o brief_o thus_o though_o it_o be_v true_a that_o god_n can_v present_o take_v all_o our_o corruption_n as_o soon_o as_o ever_o we_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n god_n can_v deliver_v we_o from_o our_o corruption_n but_o the_o lord_n will_v not_o he_o have_v many_o holy_a end_n why_o he_o do_v suffer_v his_o own_o people_n to_o be_v under_o this_o burden_n while_o they_o live_v here_o in_o the_o flesh_n as._n first_o that_o hereby_o he_o may_v show_v forth_o his_o own_o power_n the_o power_n of_o jesus_n christ_n be_v exceed_v magnify_v in_o this_o that_o it_o can_v uphold_v little_a spark_n of_o grace_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o a_o ocean_n of_o corruption_n that_o it_o can_v uphold_v poor_a weak_a creature_n under_o such_o burden_n and_o carry_v they_o on_o notwithstanding_o and_o bring_v they_o to_o eternal_a life_n the_o power_n and_o grace_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o power_n of_o god_n be_v as_o much_o manifest_v in_o this_o thing_n as_o it_o be_v in_o keep_v heaven_n
come_v and_o cast_v your_o soul_n upon_o i_o you_o may_v say_v lord_n we_o that_o have_v be_v guilty_a of_o so_o many_o sin_n so_o many_o year_n may_v it_o not_o be_v just_a that_o god_n shall_v require_v and_o say_v i_o but_o you_o shall_v live_v so_o many_o year_n to_o my_o honour_n live_v so_o many_o year_n to_o my_o service_n and_o then_o i_o will_v pardon_v and_o accept_v of_o you_o no_o but_o say_v god_n i_o will_v receive_v you_o and_o accept_v of_o you_o upon_o your_o come_n before_o ever_o you_o be_v able_a to_o do_v i_o any_o kind_n of_o service_n no_o say_v god_n come_v to_o i_o and_o you_o shall_v have_v first_o my_o favour_n and_o you_o shall_v be_v first_o accept_v and_o first_o pardon_v and_o then_o indeed_o i_o expect_v service_n from_o you_o than_o i_o expect_v that_o you_o shall_v live_v as_o the_o redeem_v one_o of_o the_o lord_n and_o all_o that_o you_o shall_v do_v afterward_o shall_v be_v but_o in_o way_n of_o thankfulness_n to_o i_o for_o my_o grace_n and_o indeed_o thus_o do_v believer_n live_v in_o the_o world_n though_o they_o look_v upon_o what_o they_o do_v in_o a_o way_n of_o duty_n but_o they_o do_v it_o in_o a_o way_n of_o thankfulness_n that_o be_v the_o special_a thing_n that_o carry_v they_o on_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o his_o son_n and_o that_o be_v a_o strong_a argument_n to_o all_o kind_n of_o duty_n that_o now_o god_n require_v of_o they_o than_o what_o they_o have_v before_o god_n do_v not_o call_v upon_o you_o to_o suffer_v first_o and_o then_o he_o will_v pardon_v your_o sin_n no_o but_o say_v god_n i_o will_v bestow_v my_o favour_n first_o upon_o you_o and_o try_v whither_o you_o will_v suffer_v afterward_o god_n will_v not_o do_v as_o man_n try_v they_o whether_o they_o will_v suffer_v and_o deserve_v their_o favour_n before_o they_o bestow_v they_o on_o they_o but_o say_v god_n i_o will_v first_o bestow_v my_o favour_n upon_o you_o and_o then_o i_o will_v try_v whether_o you_o will_v suffer_v for_o i_o and_o do_v i_o service_n and_o therefore_o the_o less_o god_n require_v as_o a_o condition_n before_o we_o come_v to_o christ_n the_o more_o shall_v we_o be_v willing_a to_o do_v for_o god_n after_o we_o be_v come_v to_o christ_n as_o a_o man_n that_o shall_v receive_v a_o poor_a child_n into_o his_o family_n and_o make_v he_o his_o heir_n the_o less_o that_o be_v procure_v to_o the_o favour_n of_o the_o man_n the_o more_o if_o the_o child_n be_v ingenious_a will_v he_o do_v to_o he_o in_o way_n of_o thankfulness_n indeed_o if_o the_o friend_n of_o the_o child_n come_v and_o indent_v with_o the_o man_n and_o promise_v he_o a_o hundred_o pound_n the_o child_n think_v he_o be_v not_o so_o behold_v to_o his_o master_n for_o their_o be_v money_n give_v with_o he_o i_o but_o now_o if_o you_o shall_v lie_v at_o the_o door_n and_o no_o friend_n to_o look_v after_o you_o and_o not_o a_o rag_n upon_o you_o and_o if_o then_o he_o will_v take_v you_o in_o and_o teach_v you_o his_o trade_n and_o make_v you_o the_o heir_n of_o all_o he_o have_v oh_o now_o how_o infinite_o engage_v be_v you_o to_o he_o that_o how_o my_o master_n do_v all_o this_o for_o i_o and_o there_o be_v nothing_o do_v before_o to_o procure_v his_o love_n thus_o jesus_n christ_n be_v a_o forehand_n with_o we_o come_v to_o i_o only_o come_v to_o i_o that_o you_o may_v have_v rest_n 8._o hence_o follow_v another_o note_n of_o very_o good_a use_n see_v nothing_o be_v require_v first_o but_o only_o come_v to_o christ_n here_o be_v a_o strong_a ground_n of_o assurance_n that_o those_o that_o be_v once_o in_o christ_n shall_v not_o be_v cast_v away_o but_o shall_v have_v eternal_a life_n for_o there_o be_v not_o so_o great_a a_o distance_n between_o eternal_a life_n and_o the_o member_n of_o christ_n as_o there_o be_v between_o one_o that_o be_v in_o his_o natural_a estate_n and_o a_o member_n of_o christ_n now_o god_n have_v do_v more_o for_o thou_o in_o bring_v thou_o unto_o christ_n than_o he_o shall_v do_v for_o thou_o when_o he_o bring_v thou_o unto_o heaven_n for_o there_o be_v a_o geat_a distance_n between_o thou_o and_o christ_n than_o there_o be_v between_o thou_o a_o member_n of_o christ_n and_o a_o glorify_a saint_n in_o heaven_n and_o if_o god_n bring_v thou_o over_o this_o great_a distance_n mere_o out_o of_o free_a grace_n and_o nothing_o require_v but_o come_v that_o now_o thou_o be_v a_o member_n of_o christ_n and_o therefore_o have_v right_a to_o heaven_n and_o thou_o can_v challenge_v heaven_n through_o the_o righteousness_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o god_n have_v put_v a_o principle_n of_o life_n into_o thou_o to_o live_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n a_o principle_n of_o everlasting_a life_n into_o thou_o when_o there_o be_v no_o principle_n at_o all_o god_n bring_v thou_o to_o jesus_n christ_n mere_o out_o of_o free_a grace_n now_o if_o thou_o come_v so_o free_o to_o he_o sure_o thou_o shall_v not_o be_v shut_v out_o of_o heaven_n and_o therefore_o it_o may_v be_v a_o mighty_a encouragement_n what_o if_o when_o we_o be_v enemy_n we_o be_v reconcile_v to_o christ_n much_o more_o now_o shall_v we_o be_v save_v by_o his_o life_n if_o when_o i_o be_v in_o the_o gall_n of_o bitterness_n and_o in_o the_o bond_n of_o iniquity_n god_n give_v i_o mercy_n upon_o come_v to_o his_o son_n sure_o he_o will_v not_o cast_v i_o out_o of_o heaven_n 9_o another_o note_n that_o we_o may_v learn_v from_o hence_o be_v this_o that_o those_o that_o be_v believer_n if_o at_o any_o time_n through_o their_o negligence_n sluggishness_n or_o fall_v they_o lose_v the_o assurance_n of_o god_n love_n in_o christ_n lose_v their_o rest_n in_o christ_n here_o they_o have_v a_o direction_n to_o know_v what_o to_o do_v look_v how_o thou_o do_v at_o first_o when_o thou_o attain_v first_o rest_n in_o christ_n it_o be_v not_o by_o any_o righteousness_n of_o thy_o own_o nor_o by_o thy_o humiliation_n though_o that_o may_v make_v some_o way_n towards_o it_o so_o now_o when_o thou_o be_v a_o believer_n and_o have_v lose_v the_o assurance_n of_o christ_n love_n and_o the_o comfort_n of_o rest_n in_o christ_n now_o thou_o must_v go_v and_o take_v the_o same_o way_n again_o christ_n call_v those_o that_o be_v believer_n to_o come_v to_o he_o those_o that_o have_v lose_v the_o assurance_n of_o faith_n that_o be_v the_o way_n for_o rest_n to_o renew_v the_o act_n of_o thy_o come_n to_o christ_n just_a as_o thou_o do_v before_o though_o god_n do_v humble_v thou_o yet_o the_o thing_n that_o do_v bring_v thou_o rest_n be_v the_o come_n to_o jesus_n christ_n so_o much_o more_o shall_v thou_o do_v now_o be_v a_o believer_n when_o thou_o have_v not_o the_o rest_n in_o christ_n thou_o desire_v thy_o way_n be_v to_o renew_v thy_o act_n of_o come_v of_o go_v to_o christ_n and_o so_o you_o may_v soon_o come_v to_o have_v rest_v that_o way_n than_o by_o think_v thus_o i_o know_v not_o whether_o my_o evidence_n be_v right_a or_o no_o and_o i_o have_v need_n look_v to_o they_o and_o therefore_o i_o have_v need_v to_o look_v whether_o my_o humiliation_n be_v right_a and_o my_o sanctification_n be_v right_a or_o no._n i_o say_v the_o renew_v the_o act_n of_o thy_o faith_n in_o come_v to_o christ_n will_v bring_v rest_n soon_o and_o safe_a rest_n and_o therefore_o thou_o shall_v come_v to_o see_v thy_o sanctification_n better_o too_o by_o renew_v the_o act_n of_o thy_o faith_n in_o come_v unto_o christ_n and_o thou_o will_v have_v thy_o rest_n soon_o that_o way_n it_o follow_v from_o hence_o because_o at_o first_o conversion_n there_o be_v come_v thus_o much_o for_o the_o consequence_n that_o follow_v from_o the_o point_n of_o christ_n require_v only_a to_o come_v chap._n xxi_o nine_o rule_n to_o be_v observe_v in_o right_a come_n to_o christ_n 1._o rest_v not_o in_o outward_a mean_n that_o lead_v to_o christ_n before_o christ_n himself_o be_v enjoy_v 2._o pitch_n rather_o upon_o christ_n himself_o than_o upon_o the_o good_a often_o renew_v the_o act_n of_o come_v come_v often_o to_o christ_n now_o there_o be_v only_o two_o thing_n remain_v and_o that_o be_v some_o rule_n to_o be_v propound_v about_o our_o come_n to_o christ_n and_o then_o some_o mean_n to_o draw_v the_o heart_n of_o sinner_n to_o come_v
what_o he_o be_v it_o be_v a_o mighty_a argument_n to_o work_v the_o soul_n towards_o christ_n but_o you_o will_v say_v alas_o christ_n be_v so_o glorious_a how_o shall_v we_o come_v to_o he_o his_o glory_n be_v enough_o to_o overwhelm_v we_o when_o the_o angel_n do_v but_o appear_v in_o some_o glorious_a manner_n even_o some_o of_o the_o prophet_n and_o holy_a man_n be_v not_o able_a to_o stand_v before_o they_o we_o can_v come_v to_o christ_n because_o of_o his_o glory_n therefore_o know_v in_o the_o second_o place_n that_o as_o he_o be_v so_o glorious_a in_o himself_o the_o lustre_n of_o heaven_n so_o he_o have_v take_v our_o nature_n upon_o himself_o he_o have_v clothe_v himself_o with_o our_o nature_n and_o he_o be_v so_o unite_a into_o a_o hypostatical_a union_n with_o we_o to_o be_v make_v the_o same_o person_n yea_o so_o to_o be_v the_o same_o person_n that_o the_o second_o person_n in_o trinity_n be_v to_o be_v of_o the_o person_n that_o he_o be_v that_o the_o son_n as_o poor_a wretched_a flesh_n may_v be_v able_a now_o to_o converse_v with_o god_n be_v veil_v with_o our_o own_o nature_n god_n be_v veil_v with_o flesh_n it_o be_v true_a if_o god_n in_o his_o own_o glory_n as_o he_o be_v in_o himself_o in_o the_o high_a heaven_n shall_v call_v we_o to_o come_v to_o he_o we_o may_v be_v afraid_a lest_o we_o shall_v be_v overwhelm_v with_o his_o glory_n we_o can_v stand_v before_o he_o we_o can_v look_v so_o much_o as_o upon_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o sin_n how_o shall_v we_o be_v able_a to_o go_v to_o the_o body_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n be_v we_o able_a to_o go_v to_o the_o body_n of_o the_o sun_n no_o it_o will_v burn_v we_o up_o how_o can_v we_o be_v able_a to_o go_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n then_o now_o because_o the_o lord_n know_v that_o his_o glory_n be_v so_o great_a he_o have_v be_v please_v to_o provide_v such_o a_o way_n to_o take_v off_o the_o terror_n of_o his_o greatness_n though_o we_o be_v frail_a flesh_n yet_o the_o lord_n have_v do_v that_o which_o may_v encourage_v we_o to_o come_v to_o he_o for_o he_o have_v veil_v his_o glory_n with_o human_a nature_n and_o therefore_o we_o may_v now_o through_o christ_n be_v able_a to_o stand_v before_o and_o converse_v with_o the_o infinite_a glorious_a god_n this_o be_v a_o great_a mystery_n the_o great_a that_o god_n have_v take_v our_o flesh_n upon_o he_o and_o veil_v his_o glory_n with_o our_o flesh_n that_o he_o may_v have_v his_o terror_n take_v from_o we_o and_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o come_v to_o he_o here_o be_v one_o special_a end_n that_o christ_n be_v gather_v this_o for_o thy_o encouragement_n that_o certain_o god_n be_v infinite_o incline_v to_o do_v good_a unto_o the_o child_n of_o man_n god_n will_v never_o have_v wrought_v so_o strange_a a_o work_n as_o to_o unite_v our_o nature_n into_o one_o person_n with_o his_o son_n if_o he_o have_v not_o mean_v to_o do_v some_o infinite_a good_a unto_o mankind_n the_o lord_n have_v give_v a_o most_o evident_a demonstration_n of_o it_o in_o unite_n man_v nature_n to_o his_o own_o son_n as_o if_o the_o king_n shall_v be_v please_v to_o marry_v his_o son_n to_o one_o that_o be_v the_o near_a kinswoman_n you_o have_v you_o will_v by_o that_o gather_v such_o a_o argument_n as_o this_o and_o all_o your_o friend_n will_v conclude_v sure_o the_o king_n do_v intend_v much_o good_a to_o this_o family_n that_o he_o be_v strong_o incline_v to_o prefer_v this_o family_n so_o when_o god_n be_v please_v to_o marry_v his_o son_n to_o our_o flesh_n yea_o to_o take_v our_o nature_n into_o a_o near_a union_n with_o he_o than_o the_o wife_n be_v take_v into_o the_o husband_n we_o may_v gather_v this_o argument_n and_o conclude_v sure_o god_n do_v intend_v much_o good_a unto_o the_o child_n of_o man_n and_o therefore_o come_v three_o from_o this_o consideration_n who_o christ_n be_v god_n manifest_v in_o the_o flesh_n we_o may_v gather_v this_o encouragement_n to_o come_v to_o he_o that_o the_o lord_n in_o unite_n the_o divine_a nature_n with_o the_o human_a in_o christ_n have_v do_v already_o a_o great_a work_n for_o the_o child_n of_o man_n than_o the_o save_n of_o their_o soul_n come_v to_o the_o save_n of_o thy_o soul_n be_v a_o difficult_a work_n thou_o think_v thus_o alas_o for_o i_o to_o come_v and_o think_v to_o be_v save_v by_o christ_n this_o be_v too_o great_a a_o thing_n too_o good_a to_o be_v true_a it_o be_v not_o possible_a that_o ever_o such_o a_o poor_a sinner_n as_o i_o be_o shall_v be_v raise_v to_o the_o glory_n that_o i_o hear_v of_o in_o the_o their_o first_o conversion_n have_v their_o heart_n so_o fill_v with_o joy_n because_o at_o their_o first_o come_v to_o christ_n christ_n do_v give_v they_o such_o wonderful_a embracement_n till_o they_o come_v to_o be_v more_o strengthen_v and_o then_o perhaps_o christ_n will_v have_v they_o live_v rather_o by_o faith_n than_o by_o sense_n it_o be_v in_o the_o new_a birth_n as_o in_o the_o birth_n of_o nature_n child_n when_o they_o be_v first_o bear_v they_o shoot_v up_o mighty_o take_v a_o child_n that_o come_v very_o little_a out_o of_o the_o womb_n come_v to_o it_o a_o quarter_n of_o a_o year_n after_o the_o child_n be_v shoot_v up_o a_o great_a deal_n you_o may_v see_v it_o a_o great_a deal_n tall_a and_o big_a every_o limb_n increase_v but_o take_v it_o at_o ten_o year_n old_a and_o it_o grow_v not_o so_o much_o then_o as_o at_o the_o first_o and_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o it_o come_v out_o of_o the_o worm_n womb_n it_o can_v not_o subsist_v if_o nature_n do_v not_o hasten_v to_o strengthen_v itself_o at_o first_o so_o man_n when_o they_o come_v to_o christ_n at_o first_o they_o shoot_v up_o and_o grow_v to_o such_o enlargement_n of_o spirit_n and_o they_o do_v so_o sensible_o perceive_v yea_o and_o other_o do_v so_o sensible_o perceive_v a_o great_a growth_n at_o their_o first_o come_v than_o afterward_o because_o when_o they_o first_o come_v christ_n will_v strengthen_v they_o against_o all_o discouragement_n christ_n will_v use_v you_o tender_o christ_n will_v not_o upbraid_v you_o for_o your_o former_a sin_n and_o say_v what!_o you_o that_o have_v live_v a_o profane_a life_n a_o profaner_n of_o my_o ordinance_n a_o scorner_n at_o my_o way_n and_o at_o my_o people_n christ_n will_v not_o upbraid_v the_o soul_n but_o he_o will_v be_v render_v of_o you_o he_o will_v pass_v by_o your_o sin_n and_o heal_v your_o weakness_n he_o will_v not_o break_v the_o bruise_a reed_n nor_o quench_v the_o smoke_a flax._n arg._n viii_o eight_o further_n consider_v the_o infinite_a need_n thy_o soul_n have_v of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o therefore_o that_o shall_v drive_v thou_o to_o he_o if_o the_o other_o argument_n do_v not_o draw_v thou_o oh_o let_v that_o drive_v thou_o to_o jesus_n christ_n thou_o be_v a_o undo_v creature_n for_o ever_o without_o jesus_n christ_n all_o the_o mercy_n in_o heaven_n can_v do_v thou_o no_o good_a the_o great_a conveyer_n of_o all_o good_a from_o god_n to_o we_o but_o also_o all_o that_o come_v to_o we_o from_o god_n must_v go_v through_o he_o and_o therefore_o there_o be_v cause_n thou_o shall_v hasten_v to_o christ_n and_o never_o be_v at_o quiet_a all_o thy_o life_n till_o thou_o have_v some_o comfortable_a evidence_n that_o thy_o heart_n have_v close_v with_o jesus_n christ_n there_o be_v a_o infinite_a necessity_n because_o all_o ordinance_n duty_n service_n whatever_o thou_o do_v do_v thou_o no_o good_a till_o thou_o come_v to_o christ_n arg._n ix_o nine_o yea_o see_v a_o need_n of_o he_o and_o they_o shall_v curse_v themselves_o that_o when_o they_o live_v under_o the_o sound_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o be_v call_v to_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n that_o yet_o notwithstanding_o they_o will_v satisfy_v themselves_o in_o the_o lust_n of_o their_o spirit_n christ_n come_v from_o heaven_n once_o to_o we_o in_o the_o day_n of_o his_o flesh_n but_o know_v that_o jesus_n christ_n shall_v come_v again_o in_o his_o glory_n with_o all_o his_o angel_n all_o his_o saint_n about_o he_o and_o then_o how_o happy_a will_v those_o appear_v that_o in_o the_o time_n of_o their_o life_n when_o they_o be_v call_v by_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o gospel_n do_v come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n when_o christ_n come_v thus_o in_o his_o glory_n perhaps_o you_o will_v then_o all_o go_v to_o jesus_n christ_n no_o friend_n if_o you_o will_v stay_v till_o then_o you_o will_v heaâ—_n another_o voice_n from_o christ_n he_o will_v not_o come_v to_o call_v sinner_n to_o yet_o further_o let_v i_o tell_v you_o this_o that_o while_o you_o have_v hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n by_o a_o poor_a minister_n in_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n to_o call_v you_o unto_o he_o to_o draw_v you_o to_o come_v unto_o he_o if_o you_o shall_v reject_v this_o invitation_n and_o other_o invitation_n that_o you_o have_v by_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n know_v that_o of_o all_o the_o sin_n that_o ever_o you_o commit_v in_o all_o your_o life_n this_o will_v prove_v to_o be_v the_o great_a that_o you_o have_v stand_v
tiresome_a to_o the_o flesh_n than_o any_o other_o work_n but_o now_o scholar_n though_o it_o be_v tiresome_a to_o the_o flesh_n they_o can_v go_v on_o and_o make_v it_o easy_a to_o they_o why_o because_o they_o find_v sweetness_n in_o their_o work_n it_o be_v not_o with_o they_o as_o with_o â—ther_a man_n other_o man_n work_v that_o they_o may_v have_v wage_n afterward_o but_o all_o the_o while_o they_o be_v about_o their_o work_n they_o have_v truth_n come_v in_o and_o heavenly_a notion_n come_v in_o to_o they_o while_o they_o be_v about_o it_o and_o so_o make_v the_o work_n easy_a unto_o they_o this_o be_v happiness_n of_o a_o christian_n that_o the_o while_o he_o be_v in_o his_o work_n the_o sun_n of_o righteousness_n shine_v upon_o he_o and_o there_o be_v sweetness_n come_v in_o unto_o he_o and_o herein_o be_v rest_n and_o ease_v in_o the_o performance_n of_o duty_n ten_o and_o last_o when_o the_o soul_n come_v to_o christ_n it_o find_v abundance_n of_o rest_n in_o holy_a duty_n because_o now_o it_o have_v the_o love_n of_o god_n shed_v abroad_o in_o its_o heart_n and_o that_o make_v every_o thing_n delightful_a to_o it_o the_o love_n of_o god_n be_v shed_v abroad_o in_o the_o heart_n you_o know_v jacob_n because_o he_o love_v rachel_n though_o he_o be_v abroad_o in_o frosty_a night_n he_o account_v it_o nothing_o because_o he_o love_v rachel_n oh_o when_o the_o love_n of_o god_n be_v shed_v abroad_o in_o the_o heart_n of_o a_o christian_a then_o there_o be_v nothing_o that_o he_o do_v but_o be_v delightful_a to_o he_o it_o make_v every_o thing_n easy_a for_o that_o be_v a_o certain_a rule_n that_o love_n be_v ashamed_a to_o mention_v any_o difficulty_n you_o never_o hear_v love_n to_o complain_v of_o any_o thing_n to_o be_v hear_v and_o those_o that_o complain_v of_o holy_a duty_n to_o be_v hear_v certain_o they_o want_v the_o love_n of_o god_n now_o you_o have_v hear_v in_o these_o ten_o particular_n wherein_o the_o ease_n and_o rest_n of_o spirit_n in_o performance_n of_o holy_a duty_n do_v appear_v there_o be_v much_o more_o to_o be_v say_v in_o the_o latter_a end_n of_o the_o chapter_n when_o it_o be_v say_v that_o christ_n yoke_n be_v easy_a and_o his_o burden_n light_n which_o if_o god_n give_v opportunity_n we_o shall_v come_v unto_o applic_n i._o now_o from_o all_o this_o first_o here_o you_o may_v see_v the_o happiness_n of_o a_o christian_a you_o do_v not_o think_v that_o a_o christian_n be_v happy_a here_o but_o he_o shall_v not_o have_v only_a heaven_n hereafter_o but_o his_o way_n to_o happiness_n be_v heaven_n here_o oh_o how_o good_a be_v the_o way_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o give_v we_o rest_v in_o our_o way_n to_o heaven_n such_o rest_n that_o all_o the_o malice_n in_o the_o world_n and_o of_o 〈◊〉_d can_v disturb_v the_o peace_n and_o rest_n of_o a_o christian_n ii_o hence_o we_o see_v the_o reason_n why_o true_a believer_n do_v persevere_v you_o hear_v oftentimes_o speak_v of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o perseverance_n &_o you_o be_v ready_a to_o think_v i_o but_o be_v it_o certain_a the_o soul_n that_o once_o come_v to_o have_v true_a grace_n shall_v certain_o persevere_v yes_o certain_o one_o that_o be_v once_o come_v to_o christ_n will_v not_o go_v from_o he_o again_o why_o because_o there_o be_v so_o much_o rest_n in_o holy_a duty_n it_o be_v true_a those_o that_o be_v draw_v to_o holy_a duty_n they_o will_v not_o abide_v as_o it_o be_v say_v the_o son_n abide_v in_o the_o house_n but_o a_o servant_n abide_v not_o always_o in_o the_o house_n so_o such_o as_o perform_v duty_n in_o a_o legal_a way_n they_o will_v be_v go_v they_o will_v not_o abide_v but_o now_o one_o that_o be_v come_v into_o christ_n and_o have_v a_o sonlike_a disposition_n he_o continue_v as_o we_o say_v in_o philosophy_n no_o violent_a thing_n or_o motion_n be_v perpetual_a and_o indeed_o those_o that_o perform_v duty_n in_o a_o legal_a way_n a_o hundred_o to_o one_o but_o they_o will_v prove_v apostate_n at_o last_o but_o one_o that_o perform_v duty_n in_o a_o evangelical_n way_n will_v continue_v and_o hold_v out_o unto_o the_o end_n iii_o the_o main_a use_n of_o all_o be_v to_o stir_v up_o the_o heart_n of_o those_o that_o be_v godly_a to_o know_v what_o the_o gospel_n mean_v to_o exercise_v much_o faith_n in_o christ_n that_o they_o may_v have_v much_o thou_o come_v to_o understand_v the_o way_n than_o your_o duty_n will_v be_v more_o sound_n more_o spiritual_a more_o supernatural_a more_o acceptable_a than_o they_o be_v the_o lord_n love_v a_o cheerful_a giver_n and_o so_o he_o love_v a_o cheerful_a server_n you_o love_v to_o hear_v your_o servant_n sing_v at_o their_o work_n but_o if_o you_o set_v your_o child_n or_o servant_n about_o a_o work_n and_o he_o go_v heavy_o and_o dull_o about_o be_v grumble_a and_o pine_v and_o think_v you_o to_o be_v a_o hard_a master_n than_o he_o do_v but_o a_o little_a work_n so_o they_o that_o perform_v duty_n in_o a_o legal_a way_n the_o truth_n be_v they_o perform_v little_a duty_n and_o that_o be_v not_o acceptable_a but_o when_o a_o soul_n come_v to_o find_v rest_n in_o duty_n it_o make_v it_o more_o spiritual_a more_o plentiful_a and_o more_o acceptable_a and_o those_o duty_n be_v very_o please_v unto_o the_o lord_n chap._n xxxvi_o show_v the_o rest_n from_o the_o remainder_n of_o corruption_n to_o be_v sanctification_n and_o that_o to_o be_v a_o great_a rest_n lay_v open_a in_o six_o particular_n 1._o it_o be_v the_o right_a temper_n of_o the_o heart_n 2._o in_o it_o the_o soul_n do_v in_o great_a part_n attain_v its_o end_n 3._o in_o it_o the_o soul_n live_v the_o life_n of_o god_n 4._o it_o raise_v the_o soul_n above_o the_o region_n of_o all_o trouble_n 5._o metal_n into_o gold_n now_o grace_n in_o the_o heart_n turn_v every_o thing_n into_o gold_n as_o it_o be_v ever_o thing_n into_o good_a it_o have_v that_o excellency_n in_o it_o that_o whatsoever_o befall_v such_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n grace_n can_v turn_v it_o to_o the_o good_a of_o they_o all_o the_o work_n of_o god_n providence_n all_o thing_n that_o seem_v to_o go_v never_o so_o contrary_a unto_o the_o good_a of_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n that_o have_v grace_n if_o such_o a_o one_o do_v but_o act_v his_o grace_n or_o her_o grace_n this_o will_v turn_v thing_n that_o seem_v to_o be_v they_o that_o turn_v all_o those_o cross_n and_o affliction_n to_o good_a that_o we_o shall_v speak_v more_o unto_o in_o answer_v to_o the_o five_o burden_n of_o outward_a affliction_n but_o only_o to_o show_v it_o now_o in_o the_o rest_n that_o the_o soul_n have_v in_o sanctification_n because_o it_o turn_v all_o thing_n to_o good_a six_o and_o last_o sanctification_n be_v a_o rest_n to_o the_o soul_n because_o indeed_o it_o be_v the_o begin_n of_o glory_n it_o be_v but_o the_o begin_n of_o heaven_n and_o we_o be_v in_o heaven_n there_o be_v nothing_o but_o rest_n there_o be_v peace_n and_o rest_n in_o heaven_n sanctification_n be_v glorification_n begin_v and_o therefore_o rest_v unto_o the_o soul_n this_o now_o be_v the_o first_o particular_a i_o will_v give_v you_o rest_n that_o be_v come_v to_o i_o you_o shall_v have_v power_n over_o your_o corruption_n you_o shall_v have_v grace_n and_o holiness_n that_o shall_v be_v rest_n unto_o your_o soul_n chap._n xxxvii_o show_v that_o sanctification_n that_o be_v true_a holiness_n that_o be_v the_o image_n of_o god_n and_o the_o beginning_n of_o glory_n that_o be_v only_o in_o christ_n and_o all_o the_o strength_n of_o nature_n and_o part_n can_v never_o raise_v the_o soul_n unto_o the_o least_o degree_n of_o it_o and_o that_o it_o be_v only_o in_o christ_n i_o shall_v give_v you_o some_o scripture_n to_o show_v it_o and_o it_o will_v further_o appear_v when_o we_o come_v to_o the_o three_o thing_n in_o show_v you_o how_o it_o come_v from_o christ_n which_o be_v the_o principle_n that_o text_n be_v very_o full_a for_o it_o which_o we_o have_v in_o 1._o cor._n 1.30_o if_o there_o be_v no_o other_o but_o of_o he_o be_v you_o in_o jesus_n christ_n who_o of_o god_n be_v make_v unto_o we_o wisdom_n and_o righteousness_n and_o sanctification_n and_o redemption_n christ_n be_v make_v unto_o we_o of_o god_n wisdom_n to_o enlighten_v our_o blindness_n and_o righteousness_n for_o our_o justification_n and_o sanctification_n and_o redemption_n that_o be_v to_o deliver_v we_o from_o all_o kind_n of_o evil_n to_o deliver_v we_o from_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n and_o to_o renew_v the_o image_n of_o god_n in_o the_o perfect_a liberty_n that_o be_v appoint_v to_o son_n christ_n be_v make_v to_o we_o sanctification_n sanctification_n that_o be_v not_o only_o that_o christ_n have_v merit_v our_o sanctification_n but_o in_o a_o further_a degree_n efficient_o so_o as_o our_o sanctification_n be_v from_o he_o and_o it_o be_v he_o that_o work_v it_o in_o we_o and_o uphold_v it_o in_o we_o the_o beginning_n and_o the_o progress_n of_o our_o sanctification_n it_o be_v from_o he_o as_o well_o as_o merit_v by_o he_o for_o we_o be_v to_o know_v that_o christ_n have_v lay_v down_o his_o life_n to_o merit_v of_o god_n the_o father_n as_o well_o sanctification_n as_o justification_n or_o glorification_n christ_n have_v not_o only_o lay_v down_o his_o life_n for_o to_o merit_v the_o pardon_n of_o our_o sin_n to_o purchase_v that_o from_o god_n to_o save_v we_o from_o hell_n but_o it_o be_v a_o special_a end_n of_o christ_n lay_v down_o his_o life_n to_o merit_v our_o be_v set_v at_o liberty_n from_o the_o bondage_n of_o our_o sin_n our_o deliverance_n from_o corruption_n the_o renew_n of_o the_o image_n of_o god_n in_o our_o soul_n for_o the_o present_a which_o be_v that_o indeed_o may_v cause_v we_o to_o prize_v holiness_n somewhat_o more_o than_o we_o have_v do_v we_o must_v not_o look_v upon_o holiness_n as_o a_o duty_n that_o we_o must_v be_v holy_a and_o as_o a_o necessary_a mean_n to_o heaven_n but_o we_o must_v look_v at_o holiness_n as_o the_o purchase_n of_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n he_o have_v purchase_v holiness_n for_o all_o those_o that_o he_o have_v lay_v down_o his_o life_n for_o and_o therefore_o as_o we_o shall_v see_v afterward_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o any_o to_o be_v holy_a but_o those_o that_o have_v part_n in_o christ_n so_o that_o christ_n be_v make_v sanctification_n by_o his_o merit_n and_o by_o the_o efficiency_n that_o be_v in_o he_o it_o be_v he_o likewise_o that_o work_v it_o in_o our_o heart_n we_o have_v it_o not_o immediate_o from_o god_n the_o father_n but_o from_o god_n the_o father_n through_o christ_n through_o his_o son_n we_o come_v to_o have_v sanctification_n and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v see_v it_o afterward_o how_o different_a our_o sanctification_n be_v from_o the_o image_n of_o god_n that_o there_o be_v in_o adam_n at_o first_o and_o the_o holiness_n that_o there_o be_v in_o adam_n adam_n he_o have_v his_o holiness_n immediate_o from_o god_n as_o creator_n but_o those_o that_o be_v now_o make_v holy_a and_o sanctify_v now_o they_o have_v not_o their_o holiness_n and_o sanctification_n immediate_o or_o as_o from_o god_n their_o creator_n but_o they_o have_v it_o from_o christ_n christ_n that_o be_v the_o second_o person_n in_o trinity_n he_o it_o be_v that_o be_v make_v to_o we_o sanctification_n and_o then_o that_o it_o be_v in_o christ_n appear_v further_a in_o that_o notable_a place_n in_o rom._n 7._o that_o be_v quote_v in_o the_o former_a point_n about_o the_o load_n of_o corruption_n where_o saint_n paul_n cry_v out_o
holiness_n now_o for_o the_o last_o thing_n that_o i_o propound_v to_o exhort_v and_o draw_v believer_n to_o come_v to_o christ_n and_o in_o this_o i_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o take_v away_o the_o many_o hindrance_n of_o the_o soul_n in_o come_v to_o christ_n for_o sanctification_n and_o also_o give_v some_o encouragement_n to_o the_o heart_n to_o come_v to_o christ_n for_o sanctification_n you_o see_v here_o be_v the_o way_n to_o get_v power_n over_o corruption_n and_o to_o get_v grace_n namely_o to_o come_v to_o christ_n yea_o say_v you_o if_o i_o know_v i_o be_v a_o member_n of_o christ_n and_o have_v interest_n in_o christ_n then_o i_o can_v come_v to_o christ_n for_o power_n over_o my_o corruption_n and_o for_o grace_n but_o i_o be_o afraid_a i_o have_v no_o interest_n in_o he_o 1._o for_o answer_v to_o that_o which_o be_v the_o main_a stop_n and_o hindrance_n of_o faith_n know_v that_o if_o thou_o have_v but_o a_o heart_n to_o come_v to_o he_o for_o grace_n that_o be_v as_o good_a a_o sign_n of_o thy_o interest_n in_o christ_n as_o any_o sign_n thou_o have_v that_o be_v as_o good_a a_o sign_n of_o evidence_n of_o interest_n as_o any_o thou_o can_v expect_v 2._o you_o must_v come_v to_o he_o for_o grace_n and_o if_o thou_o have_v not_o interest_n before_o yet_o thy_o very_a come_n to_o he_o now_o for_o grace_n to_o help_v thou_o against_o corruption_n that_o very_a act_n of_o thou_o may_v give_v thou_o interest_n in_o christ_n what_o be_v it_o that_o unite_v thou_o to_o christ_n what_o be_v it_o that_o make_v a_o member_n of_o christ_n what_o be_v it_o that_o give_v interest_n in_o christ_n it_o be_v but_o the_o come_n to_o he_o as_o you_o hear_v before_o in_o the_o point_n quest_n be_v you_o will_v say_v if_o i_o have_v a_o right_a to_o he_o if_o thou_o come_v now_o to_o christ_n to_o get_v power_n over_o thy_o corruption_n and_o to_o get_v grace_n i_o say_v though_o thou_o have_v no_o interest_n before_o this_o very_a act_n may_v give_v thou_o interest_n in_o christ_n and_o therefore_o be_v not_o discourage_v but_o come_v to_o christ_n 3._o will_v thou_o stay_v till_o thou_o do_v find_v power_n against_o thy_o corruption_n before_o thou_o will_v come_v to_o he_o than_o thou_o will_v never_o have_v power_n against_o thy_o corruption_n for_o you_o have_v hear_v that_o it_o be_v christ_n that_o be_v the_o foundation_n of_o thy_o sanctification_n and_o then_o for_o encouragement_n there_o be_v a_o great_a many_o excellent_a encouragement_n for_o poor_a sinner_n to_o come_v unto_o christ_n first_o the_o consideration_n of_o burden_n of_o christ_n as_o well_o as_o thy_o burden_n they_o be_v burden_n to_o thy_o soul_n and_o burden_n to_o jesus_n christ_n and_o therefore_o he_o do_v certain_o pity_v thou_o under_o they_o burden_n of_o be_v tempt_v unto_o sin_n and_o christ_n know_v that_o thy_o burden_n be_v great_a than_o his_o burden_n be_v and_o that_o it_o be_v more_o to_o be_v overcome_v then_o to_o be_v tempt_v
