water_n and_o how_o that_o man_n live_v then_o so_o secure_a and_o careless_a that_o they_o look_v for_o no_o harm_n to_o come_v unto_o they_o neither_o thought_n of_o any_o destruction_n at_o hand_n and_o yet_o sudden_o the_o flood_n cover_v they_o all_o of_o all_o which_o these_o perverse_a and_o froward_a person_n be_v willing_o and_o wilful_o ignorant_a the_o plain_a meaning_n of_o his_o word_n be_v as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v if_o god_n then_o destroy_v the_o world_n with_o water_n and_o by_o a_o terrible_a example_n declare_v that_o he_o be_v able_a to_o drown_v it_o universallie_o the_o epistle_n of_o paul_n the_o gospel_n than_o those_o thing_n which_o matthew_n mark_v and_o luke_n have_v write_v for_o they_o describe_v not_o much_o beside_o the_o history_n concern_v the_o heaven_n be_v thou_o and_o for_o that_o thou_o be_v become_v entire_o righteous_a and_o holy_a through_o christ_n these_o thing_n must_v thou_o confess_v if_o thou_o will_v be_v a_o christian_n for_o this_o be_v extreme_a ignominy_n &_o blasphemy_n to_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n if_o we_o shall_v so_o deny_v this_o honour_n to_o his_o blood_n as_o not_o to_o believe_v that_o by_o it_o only_o much_o as_o to_o be_v subject_a to_o christ_n to_o be_v sprinkle_v with_o his_o blood_n and_o to_o believe_v for_o it_o be_v very_o grievous_a to_o nature_n to_o be_v so_o whole_o subject_v to_o read_v in_o the_o 51._o psalm_n sprinkle_v i_o with_o hyssop_n o_o lord_n and_o i_o be_v clean_a he_o allude_v to_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n from_o whence_o saint_n peter_n take_v this_o kind_n of_o speech_n thereby_o to_o revele_v moses_n unto_o we_o and_o as_o it_o be_v to_o bring_v we_o into_o the_o king_n highwaie_o of_o right_o understand_v the_o scripture_n for_o when_o moses_n have_v sanctify_v in_o spirit_n but_o only_o outward_o and_o in_o external_a thing_n and_o therefore_o be_v there_o need_v of_o a_o spiritual_a cleansing_n forasmuch_o as_o that_o sanctification_n be_v outward_a and_o carnal_a whereof_o there_o be_v no_o regard_n before_o god_n yet_o do_v god_n thereby_o as_o it_o be_v by_o a_o type_n or_o figure_n signify_v this_o spiritual_a sanctification_n of_o a_o inheritance_n which_o be_v present_a in_o deed_n and_o be_v immortal_a be_v also_o undefiled_a and_o fade_v not_o away_o this_o inheritance_n we_o have_v perpetual_o and_o without_o end_n howbeit_o we_o do_v not_o as_o yet_o â—ee_o the_o same_o these_o be_v word_n forcible_a and_o of_o wonderful_a efficacy_n and_o he_o in_o who_o mind_n they_o be_v firm_o fix_v will_v be_v as_o i_o think_v little_o move_v with_o desire_n of_o riches_n and_o pleasure_n of_o this_o world_n for_o how_o can_v it_o be_v that_o one_o shall_v so_o set_v his_o mind_n upon_o these_o transitory_a riches_n and_o delight_n if_o he_o believe_v those_o thing_n which_o be_v here_o speak_v for_o when_o worldly_a wealth_n and_o terrene_a treasure_n be_v compare_v to_o these_o thing_n it_o appear_v straight_o how_o those_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n endure_v but_o a_o small_a time_n and_o do_v soon_o pass_v away_o but_o these_o thing_n continue_v for_o ever_o and_o do_v never_o fail_v nor_o fade_v moreover_o all_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n be_v unpure_a and_o do_v defile_v we_o for_o there_o be_v no_o man_n here_o so_o godly_a but_o in_o one_o respect_n or_o other_o he_o be_v carry_v away_o and_o defile_v with_o the_o vanity_n and_o pleasant_a thing_n of_o this_o life_n but_o this_o inheritance_n be_v undefiled_a and_o pure_a and_o he_o that_o possess_v the_o same_o remain_v for_o ever_o immaculate_a final_o this_o inheritance_n do_v not_o fade_v do_v not_o decay_n neither_o be_v ever_o subject_a to_o any_o corruption_n but_o every_o yearthly_a thing_n although_o it_o be_v as_o hard_o as_o iron_n and_o stone_n be_v nevertheless_o change_v and_o continue_v not_o still_o as_o soon_o as_o man_n also_o become_v old_a his_o beauty_n be_v go_v and_o he_o become_v loathsome_a and_o unamiable_a howbeit_o this_o inheritance_n be_v far_o from_o mutation_n or_o change_n it_o always_o remain_v it_o be_v always_o fresh_a and_o flourish_v there_o be_v no_o pleasure_n so_o great_a on_o the_o earth_n which_o will_v not_o by_o continuance_n become_v loathsome_a and_o tedious_a as_o we_o see_v there_o be_v at_o the_o last_o a_o tediousness_n in_o all_o thing_n but_o our_o good_a thing_n here_o speak_v of_o be_v otherwise_o whereof_o there_o be_v not_o satiety_n for_o ever_o all_o which_o we_o obtain_v in_o christ_n through_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n when_o we_o firm_o believe_v that_o they_o be_v free_o give_v unto_o us._n for_o how_o shall_v we_o miserable_a man_n by_o our_o own_o work_n merit_v those_o so_o great_a good_a thing_n which_o no_o reason_n or_o understanding_n of_o man_n be_v able_a so_o much_o as_o to_o comprehend_v or_o by_o imagination_n of_o heart_n once_o to_o conceive_v reserve_v in_o heaven_n for_o you_o this_o inheritance_n immortal_a undefiled_a and_o that_o fade_v not_o away_o be_v undoubted_o we_o it_o be_v only_o for_o a_o little_a while_n remove_v and_o keep_v from_o our_o sight_n until_o these_o eye_n be_v close_v up_o and_o this_o mortal_a life_n end_v then_o shall_v we_o certain_o find_v and_o see_v the_o same_o unless_o we_o be_v unbelieve_v and_o because_o we_o shall_v not_o doubt_n of_o the_o certainty_n our_o work_n the_o apostle_n here_o express_o say_v you_o be_v by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n keep_v unto_o salvation_n there_o be_v many_o who_o have_v hear_v the_o gospel_n how_o that_o faith_n only_o do_v justify_v without_o work_v do_v by_o and_o by_o burst_v forth_o and_o say_v we_o also_o do_v believe_v think_n that_o that_o bare_a opinion_n which_o they_o feign_v unto_o theim selue_o be_v right_a faith_n we_o have_v already_o teach_v and_o that_o out_o of_o the_o scripture_n that_o it_o be_v not_o in_o our_o power_n to_o do_v even_o the_o least_o good_a work_n that_o be_v without_o the_o especial_a assistance_n of_o god_n spirit_n how_o then_o shall_v we_o by_o our_o own_o strength_n arrogate_v that_o which_o of_o all_o other_o be_v most_o excellent_a namely_o to_o believe_v these_o cogitation_n therefore_o be_v a_o mere_a dream_n
and_o thing_n vain_a and_o fond_a god_n power_n must_v be_v present_a to_o work_v in_o we_o as_o saint_n paul_n write_v ephes_n 1.17_o god_n give_v unto_o you_o the_o spirit_n of_o wisdom_n that_o make_v faith_n in_o one_o than_o it_o be_v to_o create_v again_o heaven_n and_o earth_n we_o may_v evident_o perceive_v therefore_o that_o they_o little_o know_v what_o they_o say_v which_o use_v such_o word_n as_o these_o how_o can_v only_a faith_n do_v all_o see_v many_o believe_v which_o do_v no_o good_a work_v at_o all_o for_o they_o think_v their_o own_o imagination_n to_o be_v faith_n and_o that_o faith_n also_o may_v be_v without_o good_a work_v but_o we_o say_v with_o saint_n peter_n that_o faith_n be_v the_o power_n of_o god_n in_o who_o soever_o god_n woork_v thus_o the_o same_o be_v a_o regenerate_a and_o a_o new_a bear_v creature_n so_o that_o then_o of_o faith_n there_o can_v not_o but_o natural_o follow_v good_a work_v wherefore_o it_o be_v needless_a to_o say_v to_o a_o christian_a do_v this_o or_o do_v that_o good_a work_n forasmuch_o as_o of_o his_o own_o accord_n unbidden_a he_o work_v nothing_o but_o good_a work_v howbeit_o he_o be_v to_o be_v hereof_o admonish_v that_o he_o do_v not_o deceive_v himself_o with_o any_o false_a counterfeit_n and_o suppose_a faith_n do_v not_o therefore_o take_v any_o regard_n to_o those_o vain_a talker_n that_o can_v that_o pertain_v to_o salvation_n be_v now_o able_a to_o judge_v and_o free_o pronounce_v of_o all_o thing_n which_o be_v in_o the_o earth_n as_o for_o example_n this_o doctrine_n be_v sincere_a and_o sound_n that_o be_v corrupt_a and_o false_a this_o life_n be_v good_a that_o be_v evil_a this_o be_v well_o do_v that_o otherwise_o and_o what_o soever_o such_o a_o man_n do_v define_v and_o determine_v be_v so_o in_o deed_n for_o he_o can_v not_o be_v deceive_v but_o be_v preserve_v and_o keep_v by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n &_o remain_v judge_v of_o all_o doctrine_n contrariwise_o where_o faith_n and_o the_o power_n of_o god_n be_v not_o there_o be_v nothing_o but_o error_n and_o blindness_n there_o reason_n be_v carry_v away_o hither_o and_o thither_o from_o one_o work_n to_o a_o other_o in_o asmuch_o as_o it_o strive_v by_o she_o own_o work_v to_o come_v unto_o heaven_n and_o therefore_o always_o think_v behold_v this_o will_v bring_v i_o to_o heaven_n let_v i_o work_v this_o and_o i_o shall_v be_v partaker_n of_o eternal_a felicity_n and_o blessedness_n hereupon_o have_v overspread_v the_o world_n such_o rabble_n and_n swarm_n of_o monastery_n altar_n sacrifice_a priest_n monk_n friar_n and_o votary_n into_o such_o great_a blindness_n do_v god_n suffer_v they_o to_o fall_v which_o do_v not_o believe_v but_o to_o we_o that_o believe_v he_o preserve_v and_o afford_v a_o right_a understanding_n in_o all_o thing_n that_o we_o may_v not_o be_v condemn_v through_o this_o blindness_n but_o through_o his_o mercy_n attain_v salvation_n which_o be_v prepare_v to_o be_v show_v in_o the_o last_o tyme._n that_o be_v the_o inheritance_n whereunto_o you_o be_v appoint_v be_v already_o purchase_v and_o from_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o world_n prepare_v but_o now_o it_o be_v hide_v it_o be_v as_o yet_o cover_v and_o as_o it_o be_v close_v and_o seal_v up_o but_o after_o a_o while_o it_o shall_v in_o a_o moment_n be_v open_v and_o reveil_v that_o we_o may_v plain_o see_v it_o wherein_o you_o rejoice_v though_o now_o for_o a_o season_n if_o need_v require_v you_o be_v in_o heaviness_n through_o manifold_a tentation_n if_o thou_o be_v a_o christian_n and_o look_v for_o this_o inheritance_n or_o salvation_n thou_o must_v needs_o whole_o depend_v upon_o it_o and_o utter_o conteinne_v all_o earthly_a thing_n thou_o must_v also_o confess_v and_o open_o affirm_v that_o all_o the_o understanding_n wisdom_n &_o holiness_n of_o this_o world_n be_v altogether_o nothing_o wherefore_o thou_o must_v look_v for_o no_o other_o but_o that_o the_o world_n will_v condemn_v and_o persecute_v thou_o and_o therefore_o have_v saint_n peter_n right_o join_v together_o these_o three_o faith_n hope_n and_o the_o cross_n or_o affliction_n for_o asmuch_o as_o make_v choice_n of_o be_v not_o of_o any_o force_n before_o he_o we_o must_v look_v what_o he_o will_v lay_v upon_o we_o and_o what_o he_o will_v send_v unto_o we_o that_o we_o may_v walk_v and_o follow_v whither_o he_o do_v lead_v and_o guide_v us._n wherefore_o there_o be_v no_o need_n why_o thou_o shall_v seek_v or_o procure_v to_o thyself_o affliction_n if_o need_n so_o require_v that_o be_v if_o it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n that_o thou_o shall_v suffer_v then_o chearefullie_o take_v the_o cross_n upon_o thou_o and_o comfort_v thyself_o with_o hope_n and_o expectation_n of_o fire_n may_v be_v find_v etc._n etc._n this_o be_v the_o effect_n of_o the_o cross_n and_o of_o those_o manifold_a affliction_n which_o we_o suffer_v in_o this_o life_n that_o sincere_a faith_n may_v be_v know_v from_o that_o which_o be_v false_a and_o counterfeit_a and_o
for_o this_o cause_n do_v the_o lord_n so_o afflict_v we_o that_o our_o faith_n may_v be_v try_v exercyse_v and_o make_v manifest_a to_o the_o world_n that_o other_o also_o may_v be_v invite_v and_o win_v to_o the_o same_o faith_n by_o our_o example_n and_o we_o at_o the_o last_o may_v attain_v unto_o glory_n for_o as_o we_o praise_v god_n so_o will_v he_o again_o also_o praise_n glorify_v and_o honour_v we_o when_o as_o those_o counterfeit_a and_o li_a hypocrite_n who_o have_v contemn_v the_o right_a way_n shall_v be_v subject_a to_o shame_n and_o confusion_n the_o scripture_n do_v often_o compare_v the_o cross_n unto_o fire_n so_o here_o saint_n peter_n compare_v gold_n which_o be_v try_v with_o fire_n to_o the_o trial_n of_o faith_n which_o be_v make_v by_o the_o cross_n and_o affliction_n the_o fire_n do_v not_o diminish_v gold_n but_o cleanse_v and_o purify_v it_o that_o whatsoever_o drossy_a substance_n be_v mix_v with_o it_o may_v be_v separate_v from_o it_o after_o old_a testament_n moreover_o this_o difference_n there_o be_v first_o the_o five_o book_n of_o moses_n be_v the_o sum_n of_o the_o whole_a scripture_n and_o be_v peculiar_o call_v the_o old_a testament_n then_o be_v there_o history_n also_o and_o book_n wherein_o be_v describe_v the_o deed_n and_o diverse_a example_n of_o they_o which_o observe_v moses_n law_n and_o also_o of_o they_o which_o transgress_v the_o same_o last_o there_o be_v prophet_n which_o have_v plain_a relation_n to_o the_o writyng_n of_o moses_n and_o have_v more_o large_o and_o in_o plain_a word_n express_v the_o same_o howbeit_o there_o be_v one_o and_o the_o same_o meaning_n both_o of_o moses_n and_o of_o all_o the_o prophet_n now_o whereas_o it_o be_v wont_a to_o be_v say_v that_o the_o old_a testament_n be_v abrogate_a and_o reject_v it_o be_v thus_o
know_v that_o the_o same_o time_n be_v come_v the_o prophet_n daniel_n come_v very_o never_o the_o matter_n nevertheless_o he_o speak_v thereof_o obscure_o and_o darck_o namely_o at_o what_o time_n christ_n shall_v suffer_v and_o die_v and_o when_o this_o or_o that_o thing_n shall_v come_v to_o pass_v so_o they_o have_v a_o undoubted_a prophecy_n that_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o jew_n shall_v either_o of_o these_o it_o be_v far_o better_a to_o have_v the_o spirit_n without_o the_o tongue_n than_o the_o tongue_n without_o the_o spirit_n the_o prophet_n speak_v after_o a_o other_o sort_n than_o do_v the_o apostle_n yet_o do_v they_o signify_v the_o same_o thing_n which_o afterward_o the_o apostle_n preach_v for_o both_o show_n many_o thing_n of_o the_o affliction_n aswell_o of_o christ_n as_o of_o those_o that_o believe_v in_o he_o and_o also_o of_o the_o glory_n that_o follow_v the_o same_o so_o david_n psal_n 22._o when_o he_o speak_v of_o christ_n in_o this_o sort_n i_o be_o a_o woâ—â—e_n and_o no_o man_n 〈◊〉_d do_v he_o else_o declare_v but_o his_o exceed_a debase_v and_o 〈◊〉_d which_o in_o his_o passion_n he_o suffer_v also_o psal_n 44._o he_o write_v of_o the_o affliction_n of_o christian_n sa_v we_o be_v count_v as_o sheep_n appoint_v to_o be_v slay_v etc._n etc._n unto_o who_o it_o be_v also_o reveil_v that_o not_o unto_o themselves_o but_o unto_o we_o thus_o have_v we_o a_o sure_a help_n and_o strengthening_n of_o our_o faith_n for_o our_o further_a and_o better_a instruction_n whereby_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o defend_v ourselves_o against_o all_o false_a doctrine_n which_o thing_n the_o angel_n desire_v to_o behold_v so_o great_a thing_n have_v the_o apostle_n delare_v unto_o we_o by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n which_o come_v down_o upon_o they_o from_o heaven_n that_o even_o the_o very_a angel_n do_v desire_v to_o behold_v and_o see_v they_o here_o we_o must_v with_o great_a attention_n shut_v our_o eye_n and_o see_v what_o the_o gospel_n be_v wherein_o sure_o we_o can_v not_o but_o have_v exceed_a delight_n joy_n and_o consolation_n we_o can_v not_o yet_o see_v these_o thing_n with_o our_o bodily_a eye_n but_o we_o must_v it_o fast_o unto_o you_o and_o valiant_o stick_v thereunto_o let_v no_o man_n pull_v these_o sound_n opinion_n out_o of_o your_o heart_n and_o then_o shall_v you_o prosperous_o persener_n and_o stand_v there_o will_v many_o false_a teacher_n arise_v who_o will_v forge_v doctrine_n of_o man_n thereby_o to_o corrupt_v your_o mind_n and_o looze_z this_o girdle_n of_o faith_n wherefore_o in_o rather_o have_v teach_v they_o thus_o you_o be_v christian_n aswell_o as_o they_o that_o be_v a_o hundred_o mile_n distant_a from_o you_o you_o have_v all_o one_o christ_n one_o baptism_n one_o faith_n one_o spirit_n one_o worde_n one_o god_n there_o be_v no_o work_n that_o you_o of_o yourselves_o be_v able_a to_o do_v toward_o your_o salvation_n or_o able_a to_o bring_v you_o to_o the_o perfection_n of_o a_o right_a christian_n if_o this_o doctrine_n may_v general_o be_v preach_v man_n shall_v be_v keep_v in_o the_o fellowship_n and_o unity_n of_o one_o common_a faith_n neither_o upon_o we_o by_o chance_n or_o blind_a fortune_n but_o it_o be_v send_v unto_o we_o from_o god_n as_o a_o plague_n for_o our_o wickedness_n and_o impiety_n as_o s._n paul_n witness_v ij_o thes_n ij_o because_o say_v he_o they_o receive_v not_o the_o love_n of_o the_o truth_n that_o they_o may_v be_v save_v therefore_o shall_v god_n send_v they_o strong_a delusion_n that_o they_o shall_v believe_v lie_n for_o if_o this_o punishment_n and_o revenge_n of_o god_n have_v extend_v no_o further_o but_o to_o the_o perish_v only_o of_o these_o false_a counterfeit_n and_o seduce_a teacher_n themselves_o it_o may_v have_v seem_v very_o tolerable_a but_o now_o they_o have_v master_v and_o overrule_v the_o whole_a world_n at_o their_o own_o pleasure_n they_o have_v carry_v with_o they_o to_o hell_n whole_a multitude_n of_o people_n that_o have_v be_v bewitch_v and_o enchaunteâ—_n with_o their_o spiritual_a sorcery_n there_o be_v no_o remedy_n therefore_o for_o we_o to_o recure_v this_o mischief_n but_o to_o prostrate_v ourselves_o before_o the_o mercy_n seat_n of_o almighty_a god_n in_o all_o fear_n and_o humility_n most_o penitent_o confess_v our_o fault_n and_o suppliauntlie_o implore_a his_o divine_a grace_n and_o assistaunceâ—_n that_o it_o may_v please_v he_o to_o vouchsafe_v to_o remove_v and_o take_v away_o this_o plague_n from_o us._n it_o be_v earnest_a and_o hearty_a prayer_n wherewith_o we_o must_v impugn_v and_o withstand_v these_o false_a and_o deceitful_a teacher_n for_o satan_n our_o adversary_n the_o devil_n will_v not_o be_v drive_v away_o with_o a_o man_n may_v take_v occasion_n to_o think_v that_o this_o epistle_n be_v not_o write_v by_o s._n peter_n as_o also_o a_o other_o sentence_n a_o little_a afore_o in_o this_o present_a chapter_n express_v do_v insinuate_v and_o purporte_n where_o he_o say_v that_o god_n will_v have_v no_o man_n to_o perish_v but_o will_v all_o man_n to_o come_v to_o repentance_n for_o it_o seem_v to_o savour_n of_o a_o low_a spirit_n and_o to_o carry_v a_o mean_a grace_n then_o to_o one_o inspire_v with_o a_o apostolical_a spirit_n be_v usual_a yet_o be_v it_o not_o altogether_o incredible_a nor_o amiss_o to_o think_v this_o epistle_n to_o be_v write_v by_o peter_n for_o see_v that_o in_o this_o epistle_n his_o purpose_n and_o meaning_n be_v not_o to_o write_v of_o faith_n but_o of_o love_n and_o charity_n be_v purposely_o abaze_v himself_o in_o his_o style_n as_o the_o nature_n of_o charity_n always_o be_v to_o do_v to_o the_o intent_n thereby_o to_o humble_v himself_o to_o his_o and_o temporal_a good_n notwithstanding_o bless_a be_v you_o if_o you_o suffer_v for_o righteousness_n sake_n he_o not_o only_o say_v that_o no_o man_n be_v able_a any_o whitt_n to_o harm_v you_o if_o you_o suffer_v any_o thing_n for_o god_n sake_n but_o he_o further_o add_v bless_v be_v you_o for_o the_o same_o so_o that_o you_o have_v great_a cause_n of_o rejoice_v if_o you_o so_o be_v afflict_v for_o so_o say_v christ_n matth._n v._n bless_a be_v you_o when_o man_n revile_v you_o and_o persecute_v you_o and_o say_v all_o manner_n of_o evil_n against_o you_o for_o my_o sake_n false_o rejoice_v and_o be_v glad_a he_o that_o right_o and_o through_o waigh_v these_o word_n and_o consider_v that_o the_o lord_n himself_o speak_v they_o and_o that_o so_o love_o and_o so_o comfortable_o how_o shall_v he_o but_o constant_o stand_v to_o his_o tackling_a and_o patient_o abide_v all_o that_o can_v or_o may_v happen_v again_o they_o that_o in_o these_o word_n feel_v no_o comfort_n and_o inward_a consolation_n can_v not_o but_o be_v void_a and_o utter_o without_o all_o strength_n joy_n and_o comfort_n yea_o fear_v not_o their_o fear_n neither_o be_v trouble_v but_o sanctify_v the_o lord_n god_n in_o your_o heart_n this_o place_n again_o have_v saint_n peter_n cite_v out_o of_o the_o prophet_n esay_n where_o he_o have_v these_o word_n fear_v you_o not_o their_o fear_n neither_o be_v you_o afraid_a of_o they_o but_o sanctify_v god_n in_o your_o heart_n and_o let_v he_o be_v your_o fear_n and_o let_v he_o be_v your_o dread_n etc._n etc._n esay_n viij_o here_o we_o have_v a_o verâ—_n great_a protection_n and_o refuge_n so_o that_o we_o may_v bold_o repose_v ourselves_o in_o safety_n and_o be_v assure_v that_o none_o shall_v harm_v we_o let_v the_o world_n terrify_v and_o rage_n threaten_v and_o menace_v never_o so_o tyrannous_o yet_o shall_v their_o terror_n come_v to_o a_o end_n whereas_o our_o joy_n and_o consolation_n shall_v be_v endless_a and_o therefore_o we_o ought_v not_o to_o fear_v the_o world_n any_o thing_n aâ—_n all_o but_o rather_o to_o be_v valiauntlie_o mind_v and_o constant_o encourage_v against_o it_o but_o before_o god_n to_o humble_v ourselves_o and_o â—o_o fear_v with_o all_o reverence_n and_o what_o mean_v saint_n peter_n in_o bid_v we_o to_o sanctify_v the_o lord_n god_n how_o can_v we_o sanctify_v he_o of_o who_o we_o must_v be_v sanctify_v i_o answer_v that_o we_o after_o this_o sort_n pray_v hallow_v or_o sanctify_a be_v thy_o name_n for_o that_o it_o be_v our_o duty_n to_o sanctify_v his_o name_n whereas_o notwithstanding_o he_o himself_o sanctifi_v his_o own_o name_n wherefore_o saint_n peter_n be_v thus_o to_o be_v understand_v sanctify_v the_o lord_n god_n in_o your_o heart_n that_o be_v whatsoever_o it_o shall_v please_v god_n to_o lay_v upon_o we_o whether_o it_o seem_v to_o we_o good_a or_o bad_a pleasant_a or_o grievous_a honourable_a or_o ignominious_a lucky_a or_o unlucky_a it_o be_v our_o part_n and_o duty_n not_o only_o to_o embrace_v and_o take_v the_o same_o in_o good_a parâ—e_n as_o thing_n send_v to_o we_o for_o our_o furtherance_n and_o benefit_n but_o also_o to_o account_n the_o same_o as_o holy_a and_o thereupon_o to_o say_v this_o that_o i_o now_o receive_v from_o the_o lord_n hand_n be_v a_o thing_n so_o precious_a and_o holy_a that_o i_o be_o not_o worthy_a to_o be_v partaker_n thereof_o so_o say_v the_o prophet_n david_n psal_n cklu._n the_o lord_n be_v just_a in_o all_o his_o way_n and_o holy_a in_o all_o his_o work_v when_o as_o i_o therefore_o in_o these_o thing_n do_v thus_o glorify_v god_n and_o repute_v his_o work_n as_o precious_a and_o holy_a i_o do_v thereby_o sanctify_v he_o in_o my_o heart_n but_o those_o fellow_n that_o dwell_v so_o much_o upon_o the_o point_n of_o the_o law_n that_o they_o think_v not_o god_n to_o be_v righteous_a but_o that_o he_o do_v they_o wrong_n and_o that_o he_o be_v asleep_a and_o neither_o will_v maintain_v his_o own_o justice_n and_o righteousness_n nor_o yet_o repulse_v wrong_a and_o injury_n do_z unto_o he_o these_o fellow_n i_o say_v dishonour_n god_n in_o thus_o deem_v he_o to_o be_v neither_o just_a nor_o holy_a but_o he_o that_o be_v a_o true_a christian_a must_v entierlie_o ascribe_v all_o justice_n unto_o god_n and_o unto_o himself_o as_o truth_n it_o be_v all_o injustice_n to_o acknowledge_v god_n ever_o holy_a and_o himself_o profane_a and_o sincere_o to_o profess_v and_o confess_v that_o god_n be_v in_o all_o his_o do_n most_o just_a and_o holy_a this_o hearty_a acknowledgement_n he_o require_v at_o the_o hand_n of_o every_o one_o of_o us._n and_o foreade_n we_o dani._n ix_o o_o lord_n god_n just_a and_o true_a be_v thy_o judgmente_n which_o thou_o have_v
