temporary_a affliction_n and_o judgement_n these_o now_o be_v obvious_a to_o every_o eye_n and_o incur_v into_o all_o man_n sense_n all_o man_n take_v notice_n of_o man_n be_v afflict_v in_o their_o person_n cross_v in_o their_o relation_n in_o their_o estate_n etc._n etc._n but_o thus_o god_n do_v not_o always_o punish_v the_o worst_a of_o man_n 2._o he_o have_v another_o way_n of_o punish_v and_o that_o more_o dreadful_a that_o be_v by_o spiritual_a judgement_n ubi_fw-la poenalis_fw-la nutritur_fw-la impunitas_fw-la a_o punish_v they_o by_o suffer_v they_o to_o go_v unpunished_a god_n never_o more_o smart_o threaten_v the_o ten_o tribe_n than_o when_o he_o tell_v they_o by_o the_o prophet_n hos_n 4.14_o i_o will_v not_o punish_v your_o daughter_n when_o they_o commit_v whoredom_n mind_n as_o in_o the_o case_n of_o the_o israelite_n isa_n 6.9_o to_o a_o hardness_n of_o heart_n as_o in_o the_o case_n of_o pharaoh_n exod._n 4.21_o to_o vile_a affection_n as_o in_o the_o case_n of_o the_o heathen_a rom._n 1.26_o to_o a_o reprobate_a mind_n etc._n etc._n these_o be_v of_o all_o other_o the_o great_a punishment_n one_o or_o other_o way_n god_n be_v angry_a with_o the_o wicked_a every_o day_n although_o he_o be_v not_o every_o day_n plague_v they_o with_o sensible_a judgement_n yet_o when_o he_o be_v not_o do_v this_o he_o be_v let_v they_o alone_o as_o god_n speak_v concern_v ephraim_n ephraim_n be_v join_v to_o idol_n let_v he_o alone_o suffer_v they_o to_o go_v on_o in_o their_o own_o way_n by_o which_o mean_v their_o heart_n grow_v more_o hard_a and_o impenitent_a more_o blind_a and_o insensible_a and_o this_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o wicked_a man_n grow_v worse_o and_o worse_o more_o vile_a in_o their_o affection_n more_o sottish_a and_o man_n though_o it_o be_v always_o certain_a and_o constant_a yet_o it_o be_v not_o uniform_a nor_o always_o sensible_a especial_o to_o other_o the_o certainty_n of_o their_o reward_n stand_v upon_o the_o very_a same_o foundation_n that_o the_o certainty_n of_o the_o sinner_n punishment_n do_v and_o so_o do_v the_o constancy_n of_o it_o for_o as_o god_n be_v angry_a with_o the_o wicked_a every_o give_v many_o up_o to_o blindness_n of_o mind_n hardness_n of_o heart_n vile_a affection_n a_o reprobate_a mind_n have_v the_o understanding_n darken_v be_v alienate_v from_o the_o life_n of_o god_n through_o the_o ignorance_n that_o be_v in_o they_o because_o of_o the_o blindness_n of_o their_o heart_n who_o be_v past_a feeling_n have_v give_v themselves_o over_o unto_o lasciviousness_n to_o work_v all_o uncleanness_n with_o greediness_n eph._n 4.18_o 19_o you_o see_v both_o from_o this_o chapter_n in_o which_o my_o text_n be_v and_o from_o that_o text_n eph._n 4._o that_o it_o be_v you_o think_v christian_n may_v do_v then_o that_o beside_o the_o natural_a light_n have_v the_o light_n of_o the_o law_n and_o gospel_n the_o sure_a word_n of_o prophecy_n that_o have_v conscience_n further_o enlighten_v and_o under_o a_o further_a law_n than_o the_o heathen_n can_v possible_o have_v such_o as_o have_v as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v heb._n 6.4_o taste_v of_o the_o heavenly_a gift_n and_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n as_o have_v taste_v of_o the_o good_a word_n of_o god_n and_o the_o power_n of_o the_o world_n to_o come_v if_o the_o heathen_n come_v under_o this_o desert_a of_o god_n and_o give_v up_o to_o that_o dreadful_a degree_n of_o judgement_n this_o chapter_n mention_v what_o shall_v become_v of_o those_o among_o christian_n think_v you_o who_o beside_o the_o advantage_n which_o they_o have_v common_a with_o heathen_n from_o that_o of_o god_n which_o be_v manifest_a in_o they_o and_o from_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v make_v to_o know_v what_o manner_n of_o be_v god_n be_v have_v also_o the_o holy_a scripture_n tell_v they_o that_o god_n be_v a_o spirit_n and_o will_v be_v worship_v in_o spirit_n and_o truth_n that_o image_n be_v teacher_n of_o lie_n and_o medium_n by_o which_o god_n will_v not_o be_v worshipp_v and_o reveal_v his_o wrath_n so_o plentiful_o against_o those_o that_o in_o so_o idle_a and_o wretched_a a_o manner_n do_v worship_v the_o true_a and_o live_a god_n yet_o will_v worship_v he_o by_o image_n do_v not_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n and_o the_o light_n of_o scripture_n shine_v in_o man_n face_n and_o clear_o discover_v to_o they_o that_o god_n be_v not_o to_o be_v please_v with_o rude_a and_o confuse_a noise_n with_o mere_a formality_n and_o lip-labour_n but_o with_o a_o simple_a pure_a and_o spiritual_a worship_n where_o the_o understanding_n the_o heart_n and_o the_o affection_n go_v along_o with_o the_o tongue_n and_o outward_a man_n and_o where_o these_o be_v want_v all_o the_o cringing_n and_o bowing_n and_o roar_n in_o the_o world_n be_v abominable_a to_o he_o and_o no_o better_a than_o the_o howl_n of_o a_o dog_n and_o grunt_v of_o a_o swine_n o_o sir_n take_v heed_n of_o sin_v against_o this_o light_n for_o fear_v of_o be_v give_v up_o of_o god_n to_o superstitious_a vanity_n for_o so_o it_o ofttimes_o fall_v out_o that_o as_o a_o liar_n though_o at_o first_o he_o know_v he_o tell_v a_o lie_n yet_o by_o repeat_v and_o tell_v it_o often_o he_o have_v forget_v it_o be_v a_o lie_n and_o possible_o himself_o think_v he_o be_v relate_v a_o true_a story_n so_o i_o be_o persuade_v it_o fall_v out_o with_o many_o who_o conscience_n at_o first_o grumble_v a_o little_a at_o what_o they_o do_v and_o tell_v they_o this_o be_v no_o service_n of_o god_n but_o through_o a_o just_a judgement_n of_o god_n they_o shut_v their_o eye_n against_o the_o light_n at_o last_o think_v there_o be_v no_o other_o true_a worship_n of_o god_n beside_o what_o they_o have_v take_v up_o as_o to_o people_n see_v that_o those_o who_o differ_v in_o some_o particular_a opinion_n from_o they_o yet_o walk_v so_o as_o they_o dare_v not_o but_o say_v god_n have_v love_v and_o accept_v they_o this_o overcome_v their_o heart_n into_o their_o duty_n shall_v not_o say_v they_o we_o love_v those_o who_o our_o heavenly_a father_n love_v who_o be_v sprinkle_a with_o the_o blood_n of_o jesus_n christ_n as_o well_o as_o we_o justify_v by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o sanctify_v through_o the_o holy_a spirit_n even_o as_o we_o it_o be_v a_o easy_a thing_n to_o assign_v many_o other_o thing_n wherein_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n be_v apparent_a in_o this_o permission_n of_o different_a apprehension_n of_o truth_n in_o the_o soul_n of_o his_o own_o people_n as_o to_o show_v we_o our_o
